00:00what's up guys so today i wanted to do a follow-up video on the iphone 10s
00:04this is now i believe one of the oldest iphones to run ios 17 i believe this and the 10r
00:10they both came out in 2018 i believe and yeah so apple got rid of the
00:16iphone 8 and then the iphone 10 those devices did not get uh ios 17 which i thought was
00:23um pretty interesting because i'm pretty sure those devices really could run ios 17 this isn't
00:28it's not like it's a huge update but we got ios 17 on here and just to you know give an update
00:36on this device for you guys that did not update to late software um it does run pretty well it
00:43doesn't feel any uh slower or faster pretty much feels the same and these devices are typically
00:49going for uh 200 bucks you can see certified uh refurbished but honestly you can find these
00:55easily uh in good condition for like 150 bucks as well too they're always constantly uh if you
01:02bid on phone and stuff like that so um yeah they go for really really cheap you can definitely find
01:07these under um 200 bucks for sure now one of the things i was really curious about with the iphone
01:1310s just using it today is the performance on here so like i said running through ios
01:19it is pretty smooth but just gaming on here is actually still really good i'm able to play hdr
01:24extreme on pub g uh you know 60 fps uh pretty consistently on here and this phone does have the
01:32apple a12 chip and then you also have 64 gigs of internal storage and then four gigs of ram on here
01:38and it still does a fantastic job uh with gaming so pretty much you know pub g call of duty mobile
01:45um you know these games run really great now of course they're obviously not going to play as good
01:50as some of the you know newer iphones of course but honestly if you're a casual gamer you probably
01:56won't notice too much of a difference i was actually pretty impressed i wasn't getting any
02:00kind of crazy frame rate drops now this phone does tend to get warm uh warmer than i would like to
02:05what not man warmer than i would like um but yeah i've never had it actually crash while gaming and
02:12stuff i would just say it does get warm to the touch um for sure but um yeah i was surprisingly
02:18gaming performance is still really really a solid one here so if you're looking for a you know a
02:23cheap iphone to game on or if you're just looking for a phone to get introduced into ios and you
02:30don't want to uh spend a whole bunch of money this is definitely a pretty good option to get
02:36let's talk about the display so this is almost somewhat of a compact display at 5.8 inches
02:43it's an oled display as well and it is a 1080p plus display and it's a pretty decent display
02:50it's somewhat decently bright definitely not as bright as newer phones outdoors in direct sunlight
02:56um but the display overall is decent uh the notch is definitely something that is starting to look a
03:02little bit outdated for sure but actually when you think about it the iphone 14 still has the
03:08you know same traditional notch it's just a little bit smaller but still there so really it's
03:14not that outdated if you really think about it um but yeah so the overall display it's a flat panel
03:21um it's oled it's got hdr 10 on it and it's a pretty decent panel for what it is i actually
03:26think uh this panel is better than the iphone 11 display uh since that display is lcd and
03:34um it's just not that high resolution that one's like 720p plus so the display on here is pretty
03:40decent like i said very easy to hold uh since it's not a big phone so overall for the display
03:46can't really hate on it too much you know 458 for the ppi so everything is pretty sharp
03:51on this panel as well too so don't have too many complaints besides the you know the notch
03:57it's just really outdated but like i said it's it's outdated really on the iphone 14 one of the
04:02newest models so i do want to touch on the design a little bit here so i think the phone still looks
04:08somewhat decent obviously you know it looks like an older phone it's not like the iphone 11 i think
04:13that the iphone 11's design actually still looks extremely modern but this one you can tell i think
04:18the only thing that gives it away is this sort of older looking camera uh module here um but
04:23other than that it's still a fairly decent looking device i really like the silver color of this
04:29model a little bit more than the all black one because this one tends to it could pick up
04:32fingerprints uh pretty quickly you can see the smudge and stuff like that but um overall a fairly
04:39you know nice looking device it's ip68 dust and water resistant as well too
04:43you got face id of course and with the older iphones it's not as boxy like with the 14 series
04:50it has those boxy edges not super comfortable to hold in hand uh these older ones definitely
04:56way more comfortable uh to hold in my opinion so that's something that
05:00i really like this phone also has stereo speakers
05:17so you get a pretty good amount of bass with this phone as well too so i'm actually pretty
05:28impressed with these speakers if you cover the bottom speaker the top speaker does a pretty good
05:32job at giving you a good amount of volume so i really like that so this phone also has face id
05:38it doesn't feel slow at all pretty much feels on par with the newest iphones um as well too so
05:45um as far as uh that goes the hardware goes that's basically what you would expect now let's talk
05:51about the cameras for a second so the cameras it's a 12 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel
05:58telephoto has 2x optical zoom 4k 60 video and a 7 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 1080 60 so
06:05as you can see the specs um you know not as impressive these days not being able to shoot
06:10in 4k 60 on the front camera and also not having ultrawide on this thing it uh apple basically
06:18switched the ultrawide after this it was because ultrawide cameras are pretty much the most used
06:23secondary camera um apparently and um yeah so image quality on the 10s is actually not that bad
06:31um i actually compared it to the iphone 14 pro when that phone came out and a lot of people were
06:38surprised and even myself i was surprised you definitely uh can spot the difference obviously
06:44uh with the 14 versus the 10s but the 10s on its own does a fantastic job in good lighting i was
06:51really surprised by that you don't see a massive massive difference now yeah i'm not saying the
06:56it's not a big difference uh because it is when you get to uh things like lower light photography
07:03the 10s definitely struggles there also there's some like skin tones and some white balancing
07:09that i don't like depending on the shot um but in general the 10s still takes some pretty
07:14respectable shots um and like i said the lack of ultrawide and you know it's not able to record
07:204k 60 on the front and stuff like that um so it's a little dated in that regard but
07:25as as far as like point and click and just taking stills and stuff like that it's actually still
07:29pretty impressive you can still get a pretty good shot if you're in a good lighting situation
07:34and if you guys want to see that comparison just check it out on my channel the 14 pro versus the
07:3910s but overall it still takes pretty decent photos and videos actually all right so i do
07:46want to talk about battery life on here and i've had this phone for quite a bit and i was able to
07:53retain let's see what kind of battery health we have now we have about
08:0185 battery health which is not bad at all i always keep my phone i try not to charge it over 85
08:09um and yeah so i think i've done a pretty good job with battery health on here this phone still
08:14can last almost about six hours of screen on time if i'm not doing anything too heavy but if you're
08:20gaming and stuff like that this phone definitely won't last a full day for sure definitely you will
08:25need to charge it um but it's got you know somewhat small battery these days at 2658 milliamp hour
08:33battery it kind of charges slow as well too at 15 watts so it doesn't charge super fast but it does
08:38have wireless charging that you could take advantage of as well too but the overall battery
08:44situation is really not that impressive but i can't say that it's terrible because for a light
08:49user it can get you kind of through a day but if you're like doing any type of gaming or anything
08:54like that you will definitely have to charge this phone so the overall 10s is surprisingly keeping
09:00up pretty well even with ios 17 you would think that this phone would be lagging and glitching
09:05all over the place but that's really not the case it's actually somewhat pretty smooth as you guys
09:11can see here it's not really slow when it comes to animations and stuff like that it's still fairly
09:17fast i'm not it's not lagging all over the place uh with scrolling and stuff like that so i'm pretty
09:22impressed with the 10s uh running this ios 17 what do you guys think be sure to let me know
