00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be comparing the iPhone 13 Pro to the iPhone
00:06XS here.
00:07The XS is one of my favorite older iPhones to buy, actually my favorite, and it costs
00:14around roughly $250, I have a couple videos.
00:17New 14 Pro is going to cost you $1000.
00:20Let's go ahead and just kick it off with a quick speed test here.
00:23How much of a speed difference are we going to see here?
00:26Let's go ahead and open up Geekbench and I'll go ahead and show you guys the Geekbench
00:30scores here.
00:34So this is pretty much the difference that you will see, so you do get a pretty significant
00:39difference with the multi-core score here.
00:42Let's go ahead and just do some basic apps, phone, let's go ahead, music, not too bad.
00:53Let's do Subway Surf, iPhone 14 Pro in, XS right behind it.
01:06You guys can see, both these phones pretty much, or the XS at least, it remains fairly
01:12smooth still.
01:14So that's one thing that I've noticed about this phone, it's not really a jerky or slow
01:18phone.
01:19Let's go ahead and get out of that, let's try YouTube.
01:28Now there's also one thing you would notice, so the new 14 Pro does have 120Hz, you do
01:35not have that on the XS, so you will notice that super smooth scrolling.
01:42Let's go ahead and try a heavier game like PUBG.
01:49Now the gaming experience is going to be pretty good on the XS, that's why I always recommend
01:53it because it's actually able to play PUBG at HDR extreme and be able to play it consistently
02:00at the 60 frames, so that's something that I always appreciate, especially again for
02:06that price point.
02:08Boom, 14 Pro in.
02:14So overall the speed difference isn't unnoticeable, yes you will be able to notice it, but for
02:21the average person you have to kind of decide if that second or two difference is enough
02:27for you personally.
02:30Now as far as the gaming goes, for games that are a little bit more intense like Genshin
02:35Impact and stuff like that, yes you're going to like that extra power, but if you're not
02:40like a hardcore gamer or anything like that, then you'll be fine with the XS, like I said
02:48still able to play at excellent settings.
02:52You guys can see the 14 Pro, again this is HDR, this will get the update eventually to
03:03have the 90 frames option as well, so that's also something you can think about playing
03:07games at a slightly higher frame rate.
03:11Again XS able to play PUBG super smooth at HDR extreme as well.
03:18So you're going to get a good experience on both, but like I said if you're more of a
03:21gamer, then yes you're going to like the slightly beefed up 14 Pro, you're going to like that
03:27extra power.
03:28Alright let's talk about the hardware difference on both of these phones.
03:31So the 14 Pro is definitely going to be heavier than the XS.
03:35As far as the size goes, you guys can see, 14 a little bit taller, a little bit thicker
03:41as well, bigger camera bump as well too.
03:46And I really like the look of the XS, I've always thought this was one of my favorite
03:51designs from Apple.
03:52It has this very classy feel to it, which is something that I really like.
03:56I do like the matte finish on the 14, you can't see fingerprints and stuff like that.
04:01So they both look really good still, so that's something that I really like.
04:06And let's go ahead and actually talk about the display because we do have a display upgrade
04:11here and you guys can see that we do have the punch hole cut out, or the peel cut out,
04:18and then we have the classic notch.
04:21So yeah, you get a little bit more screen as you can see, a little bit more pixels on
04:25the screen.
04:26It looks a little bit more modern, Apple claims that the bezels are a little bit thinner,
04:30which you can't really tell, honestly.
04:33But yeah, so the one thing about the screen is that the 14 Pro does have a 2,000 nits
04:39peak brightness, so it gets really bright outdoors, it's one of the brightest phones
04:43you can actually get, so that is really nice.
04:47And also, what people forget about the XS is that it actually has an OLED display and
04:52it's a high resolution display.
04:54It's a 5.8 inch display, so it's slightly smaller than the 6.1 inch display on the 14
04:58Pro.
05:00It's also a 1080p panel, 458 for the PPI.
05:03The 14 Pro's display is the XDR Retina display, it's OLED, like I said, 120 hertz, and then
05:10it's 1170 by 2556, 460 for the PPI.
05:14They both look really great.
05:16Like I said, it is a pretty nice display upgrade, depending on if you think the peel shape cut
05:22out looks better than the notch, and also you get the 120 hertz, so the display and
05:27everything just feels much more smoother, especially when you're scrolling and stuff
05:31like that.
05:32So that's kind of a decision you have to make.
05:33I think it's a pretty decent display upgrade.
05:35It's super bright outdoors, 120 hertz, you get a new display design, but it comes down
05:41to do you care about that and also your thoughts on the peel shape versus the notch.
05:46Let's go ahead and check out some additional features here, and we'll start off with the
05:49stereo speakers, and we're on max volume, start with the 14.
06:16So both speakers sound great, but yes, the 14 Pro's speaker, it is a little bit louder
06:22than the XS, and the bass is a little bit thumpier.
06:25So overall, it is an upgrade in terms of the speaker quality, it does sound noticeably
06:31better.
06:32Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the Face ID and stuff like that.
06:35It honestly feels the same on both of these phones, I did not notice a difference, it
06:39doesn't feel any more faster.
06:42And also, you do have NFC with Apple Pay, both these phones have wireless charging as
06:47well too.
06:48Alright, I'm going to show you guys some side by side stills, but first let's take a look
06:51at the specs.
06:52This might be a pretty good upgrade depending on whether you guys think the stills are significantly
06:56better.
06:57So the 13 Pro, it does have the 48 megapixel standard, a 12 megapixel telephoto with 3x
07:03optical, and then a 12 megapixel ultra-wide, it has a macro mode, you also have 4K video
07:09as well at 60 frames, and then a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60, and then you
07:15also have the cinematic mode, which you don't have on the XS.
07:20Now the XS has a dual camera setup here, and it does have a 12 megapixel standard, a 12
07:26megapixel telephoto with 2x, and then it shoots in 4K60 as well, a 7 megapixel selfie, and
07:32then you also have 1080p video.
07:33So you do get that additional camera, and then you get the cinematic mode, and overall,
07:40a higher resolution lens.
07:41So do the stills look better?
07:43Be sure to let me know.
08:33Here's the XS, 2x, here's the 14 Pro, at 0.5, 2x, and here's the XS, 2x, and here's the
08:5614 Pro, at 0.5, 2x, 3x.
09:16Alright guys, next is going to be battery life.
09:18This is also a pretty good upgrade, because you will notice the battery life is gonna
09:22last much longer on your 14, or even if you don't want to get the 14 Pro, you can get
09:27the 13 Pro.
09:29These phones have pretty good battery life, so you are gonna get a pretty nice battery
09:32upgrade.
09:33The XS will get you around, I can get around 4, not 4, but 5 hours of screen on time, close
09:41to 6 hours of screen on time, if you're not doing too heavy of a job on it.
09:45But 9 times out of 10, if you do buy this phone, you're gonna get it refurbished or
09:50renewed or used, and it's not gonna have 100% battery health, so that's why.
09:54Alright, so battery life is gonna be a pretty nice upgrade.
09:58You also have the MagSafe wireless charging on the iPhone as well too.
10:03So overall, I think it's a pretty good upgrade guys, depending on if you thought the cameras
10:10were better.
10:11If you didn't think the cameras were that much better, I probably wouldn't upgrade,
10:16because that's like a big part of the upgrade.
10:18In my opinion, the screens, that's not really a big deal.
10:23Also the speed, to me, is not that big of a deal as well, the XS is still pretty fast.
10:29So it really comes down to the camera, to me, honestly.
10:33So what do you guys think?
10:34Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
