00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be comparing the iPhone 14 Pro to the Galaxy S22.
00:08So let's go ahead and get started here.
00:11So I wanted to go ahead and start off with the price of these two phones.
00:14The 14 Pro is going for $1000, the S22 brand new goes for $600 and then you can find it
00:20for as cheap like this one refurbished, renewed for $400.
00:24So it's a very cheap flagship now where it has come down in price a little bit.
00:28Alright, so let's go ahead and get started.
00:30I wanted to actually start off this time with the cameras because that was one of the things
00:34that I was most interested in is the image quality between these two and I actually ended
00:39up preferring a lot of the S22's pictures here.
00:43So I want to go ahead and get you guys opinions and see which camera or stills did you guys
00:47prefer.
00:49Before we look at these side by side stills, let's go ahead and check out the specs.
00:52So we do have a 48 megapixel main lens on the 14 and it is a 12 megapixel telephoto
01:00with 3x optical zoom and then another 12 megapixel ultra wide and then we also have a macro mode.
01:06It shoots in 4K 60 and then we have a selfie cam on here that's 12 megapixels that also
01:13can shoot in 4K 60 as well.
01:16The S22, it does shoot at 50 megapixels on this one and then we also have a 10 megapixel
01:25telephoto lens that does 3x and then a 12 megapixel ultra wide as well.
01:30It can shoot in 8K 24 and then you also have a 10 megapixel selfie cam that can shoot in
01:364K 60 as well too.
01:38So I want to go ahead and just show you guys the side by side stills.
01:41Let me know which stills did you guys prefer.
02:16Alright guys, here is the S22.
02:47Here's our 3x.
02:50Very nice.
02:53Point 6.
02:55Alright guys, here is the iPhone.
03:15Video quality here.
03:172x.
03:193x.
03:21Wow, look at that.
03:23It's pretty nice.
03:25Point 6.
03:27Alright, so next let's talk about the build quality on both of these devices.
03:43They're about the same height or the same size as you can see.
03:47The iPhone just slightly a little bit taller and the iPhone definitely a little bit thicker
03:53and definitely heavier than the S22 for sure.
03:56As far as the materials, you have premium materials on both.
04:01I really love the back of these phones with a matte finish so you don't pick up fingerprints
04:05and stuff like that.
04:07They just look really nice and have that nice premium feel to them.
04:11I do think the S22 is definitely way more comfortable to hold.
04:15It doesn't cut in the hand as much as the iPhone.
04:19Also, both these phones have IP68 dust and water resistant.
04:23As you can see with these camera modules here, you can see that the iPhone has really big
04:28camera modules that kind of intrude.
04:30The S22 is kind of able to sit a little bit flatter than the iPhone.
04:34Alright guys, let's talk about the displays on both of these two phones here.
04:39The S22, it does have the Dynamic AMOLED display.
04:42It's 120Hz HDR10+, 1200 nits peak brightness.
04:46It's 6.1 inches and then it's a 1080p panel, 425 for the PPI.
04:52The iPhone, it does have also a 6.1 inch panel on here.
04:57It's LTPO, the Retina XDR OLED display, 120Hz HDR10 with 2000 nits peak brightness.
05:06It can be much brighter than the S22 outdoors, which is very impressive.
05:11The resolution is 1179x2556, 460 for the PPI.
05:16Both displays look really great, great for watching content.
05:20I do prefer the S22's display simply because I do like the smaller punch hole.
05:25It's less intrusive than Apple's cutout.
05:28Even though Apple finally switched away from the notch, it's still not as good as what
05:33you would find on some Android devices.
05:35It's just way less intrusive, whether you're playing video games or just watching YouTube
05:41videos or whatever.
05:42I just find the experience to be a little bit more enjoyable.
05:46And also, both these panels are flat as well.
05:50You have really nice thin bezels on both of them as well too.
05:53Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the power of these two phones.
05:56So, the S22, it does have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM.
06:03The 14 Pro does have the Apple A16 chip and it does have the 128GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM.
06:13As far as your performance on these two phones, they're both very fast.
06:18If I pull up the Geekbench scores here, you can see that the iPhone is going to give you
06:27some pretty impressive scores.
06:29It is going to beat the S22 in terms of benchmarking.
06:32Now, in terms of just using the phones, they're both, like I said, very fast phones.
06:38The S22 does not lag or anything like that.
06:41The iPhone does not lag either.
06:43As you can see, the iPhone is going to be a little bit quicker in terms of opening applications
06:48and stuff like that, but it's really not by much.
06:51So, I don't think the average person would really even notice the difference, but yes,
06:56there is a difference.
06:58We can try something else.
07:00Let's try YouTube.
07:05You can see the S22 actually got in there first.
07:08Really nice, both phones with 120Hz scrolling, very smooth.
07:14So, even though the iPhone will beat the S22 in terms of benchmarks,
07:20I think the average person isn't going to really notice the difference.
07:23Let's go ahead and jump into PUBG.
07:25Now, once we get into PUBG, like I said, both these phones do a pretty good job with gaming performance.
07:31We're able to play PUBG at HDR Extreme settings.
07:38There's no 90 frames on Samsung yet, but we are able to play at HDR Extreme with pretty much no problem.
07:44It's very fast, very smooth, very fluent on the S22.
07:50And it's the same thing with the iPhone being able to play at HDR.
07:55No 90 frames yet here, but this also is able to keep 60 frames very smoothly as well.
08:03So, it really doesn't matter which phone you pick up for gaming.
08:07I mean, so far I just haven't had any problem gaming.
08:11So, for your average person, you can pick any phone and be perfectly fine.
08:15If you're a more hardcore gamer, you could probably use the extra power if you're playing like Genshin and stuff like that.
08:20Now, let's talk about the additional features.
08:22So, both phones, IP68, both have NFC.
08:25Both these phones have wireless charging.
08:27The S22 does have reverse wireless charging, which is a really slept on feature.
08:32And I really do like the Samsung desktop support as well, which I think doesn't get enough credit.
08:37It's a very cool feature.
08:38You also have on here an in-display fingerprint sensor.
08:43Works really well.
08:45But you also can take advantage of the face unlock as well on the S22, which the iPhone does not have any type of fingerprint sensor.
08:54It only has face ID, which works flawlessly though.
08:58But I do like to have that, you know, that dual option there.
09:01Both these phones do have stereo speakers, so let's go ahead and hear which one sounds the best.
09:07Alright, let's go ahead and start with the 14, max volume.
09:14The 14 is definitely a stronger speaker.
09:40Louder bass.
09:41Overall, slightly louder sound than the S22 for sure.
09:44Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the battery situation on both these phones.
09:48So, with the S22, we do have a 3700 milliamp battery with 25 watt charging.
09:54We also have that fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
09:57With the 14 Pro, we have a 3200 milliamp battery.
10:02And then it can do fast charging as well.
10:05And then we have the MagSafe wireless charging and standard wireless charging.
10:09Both of these phones are phenomenal when it comes to battery life.
10:12The S22 can last me a day easily.
10:15And the 14 Pro, so far, is looking like it has the same battery life as the 13 Pro.
10:20If you turn off that always on display, this will get you slightly better battery life, the 13 Pro, for sure.
10:28So, overall, two very nice options here.
10:31I really like the S22. It's becoming one of my favorite phones because of the price.
10:35And it's just very competitive, even with a phone like the 14 Pro.
10:38Quality-wise, camera-wise, speed-wise, it's a very good phone.
10:43So, what do you guys think? Which phone would you guys pick up?
10:45Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
