00:00What's up guys, today we will be doing the iPhone SE 2020 versus the iPhone 14 Pro.
00:09So I know a lot of you guys were interested in upgrading here and this is definitely a
00:12good upgrade.
00:13It's a good upgrade across the board but there are some things that like if you're upgrading
00:19for a specific reason like speed and stuff like that, we're going to see that's actually
00:23not going to be like a massive upgrade because the SE 2020, one of my favorite phones to
00:27recommend to people that still want the home button and it's also very powerful as we're
00:30going to see as well too.
00:32But I think everything else is still a pretty solid upgrade here.
00:35Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the overall design and build quality.
00:40You are going to get a newer looking phone basically, a more modern looking phone with
00:46the 14 Pro.
00:47You can see those big cameras in comparison here.
00:49It is going to be a heavier and a taller device as you guys can see there, it's just thicker.
00:55I do like Apple's like their old design where it curves a little bit more and it feels more
01:01comfortable as opposed to like the more boxy shape, kind of cuts into the hand a little
01:05bit.
01:06You will like this matte finish, it doesn't pick up fingerprints as well too.
01:09You can see it's very clean as well so that's one thing I like.
01:13Also you get IP68 dust and water resistant on the 14 and the SE does have IP67 which
01:20is not terrible but you do get better water resistant on here.
01:24Both have stereo speakers which we will get into as well too.
01:27But as far as hardware goes, definitely you're getting a pretty nice design change here.
01:31Alright guys, let's talk about the specs a little bit more.
01:34We do have the Apple A13 on the SE, we do have 64 gigs of internal storage and 3 gigs
01:39of RAM.
01:40On the 14 Pro, we do have the Apple A16 chip.
01:44We also have 128 gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of RAM so you get more storage
01:48and more RAM on the 14 Pro in general here.
01:52As far as your day-to-day performance, it's actually not that big of a difference in terms
01:55of opening applications.
01:57They pretty much open everything the same, they pretty much feel extremely smooth.
02:03You will notice smoother scrolling because you have 120 Hz now as opposed to the 60 Hz.
02:09As you can see here, just bouncing in and out of applications, it is very, very much
02:14on par with each other.
02:21So as you guys can see, not that big of a speed increase.
02:24So if you guys were actually upgrading for just to see some big speed jump or just much
02:30better gaming performance, for the casual user, you're not going to really notice too
02:35much of a difference here for sure.
02:38Alright, so let's talk about the screens for a second here.
02:41So there is a pretty massive screen difference here.
02:43As you guys could tell, you have pretty big bezels on the SE and you have more slimmer
02:49bezels now with the little pill-shaped cutout or the dynamic island.
02:53And yeah, so you'll notice that the home button is gone, right?
02:57So you'll be using these gestures now, which I think you will get used to pretty fast.
03:01But as far as the screen quality over here, it's actually pretty good.
03:05So the 14 Pro, it does have the 120 Hz XDR OLED display.
03:11It's 2000 nits brightness, so it's just crazy bright outdoors, much brighter than the SE.
03:17And it's a 6.1 inch display, so it's much bigger.
03:20And yeah, it just looks really good, slim bezels.
03:23I think the only downside to, I can see somebody here, only downside with this is that maybe
03:30you don't like having a notch or a punch hole on your screen.
03:35That's one thing I like about these older iPhone displays, there's no notch or punch
03:39hole on the display.
03:41Now with the SE, it does have a 720p plus retina IPS display, and it's 326 for the PPI.
03:49And it looks fine, it's 4.7 inches, so it's a very small screen, very easy to one hand.
03:54But I think in comparison, it's just like the 14 Pro's screen, it's just much better.
04:00Just better colors, slimmer bezels.
04:04Like I said, also the 120 Hz, so it's just overall just going to be a better screen for
04:09looking at content and stuff like that.
04:11Alright guys, another area where you will see a pretty nice upgrade is in the speaker
04:15quality, so I have them both max volume.
04:39So as you guys can hear, it's almost two times louder and just much better bass on
04:49the 14 Pro.
04:50It almost makes the SE sound flat in comparison.
04:57So you're getting just a massive speaker upgrade.
05:00As far as the biometrics go, you will now be switching to Face ID, which I think a lot
05:06of people will like.
05:08You will be giving up the home button in Touch ID, which a lot of people like as well too.
05:13And Touch ID works flawlessly on here.
05:15I wish they implemented the Touch ID on the 14 Pro, put it in the power button or something
05:19like that.
05:20But yeah, so as far as the bells and whistles go, both these phones have Apple Pay.
05:26Like I said, they're both IP rated.
05:28You do get an always-on display, which is really nice.
05:31I actually turned mine off because I'm not a big fan of it.
05:36But that is something that a lot of people might really like, the always-on display.
05:40And that's only possible with the OLED display, so you can see it's off.
05:44Turn it on.
05:45You can see it brightens up.
05:48So that's also another feature that I think you'll really like.
05:50But essentially, all of your stuff is still on here, FaceTime, iMessage, all that stuff.
05:55Both these phones have iOS 16 on it as well too.
05:58Guys, so probably one of the biggest upgrades here is going to be the camera.
06:02So you get a pretty big camera upgrade.
06:05You now have a 48-megapixel standard.
06:07You also have a 12-megapixel telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
06:11And then you also have a 12-megapixel ultra-wide on here.
06:14You now get the cinematic mode on here as well as a macro mode.
06:18You also get on here 4K 60 video on the front and back.
06:23And then you have a 12-megapixel selfie cam that, like I said, can shoot in 4K.
06:29Now on the SE, it still actually has a pretty good camera on it.
06:33It just doesn't have the extra cameras that you would find on the 14 Pro here.
06:38It just has the standard 12-megapixel and then shoots in 4K 60 and then a 7-megapixel
06:44selfie that shoots in 1080p 30.
06:47So you don't have cinematic.
06:48You don't have the optical zoom and stuff like that.
06:51So if you take a lot of photos, I think you'll really appreciate the image quality upgrade
06:57here and just being able to take different kind of shots with the ultra-wide macro and
07:02stuff like that.
07:03So I'll show you guys the side-by-side stills.

08:27All right, guys, so battery life is also going to be a pretty dramatic upgrade here.
08:40With the SE, you can typically get around four hours screen on time.
08:46With the iPhone 14 Pro, you're getting pretty good battery life here, definitely well over
08:51four hours.
08:52You can get easily up to six, seven hours of screen on time very easily with this phone.
08:57Also, both these phones do have wireless charging, but you do have the MagSafe charging with
09:02the 14 Pro, and you can also stick accessories like the MagSafe accessories and stuff on
09:07it as well, too.
09:08So, like I said, you get a bigger battery, 3,200 milliamp battery versus the 1,821 milliamp
09:15battery.
09:16You get faster charging speeds as well, too, with the 14 Pro.
09:21Overall, the battery experience is going to be much better as well, too.
09:24You won't have to charge your phone as often.
09:27Overall, I think it's a pretty good upgrade.
