00:00What's up guys, today we're going to talk about one of my favorite compact flagships,
00:04the Galaxy S10e.
00:05So this is a very cool phone, I absolutely love this phone.
00:09I compared it to some of my favorite phones this year, it still stands the test of time,
00:15and this phone has even come down in price.
00:18You can get this for a crazy cheap price of $120 on eBay, and then an Amazon certified
00:25refurbish, they have them for $141.
00:28It's just an excellent deal, and this phone got the Android 12 update, One UI 4.1 update,
00:34that was the last major OS update for this phone, so I went over it.
00:37I wanted to kind of revisit it to just update you guys on how the experience is going so
00:42far, and it's been a pretty good experience with this phone.
00:47So for $120, this phone is getting three years of security patches, so that was the last
00:54major OS update with this phone unfortunately, but man is this still an excellent buy, and
00:59I'm going to show you guys actually why this is still an awesome compact flagship.
01:04Now the screen on this phone is probably one of my favorite things about this phone.
01:08It's a 5.8 inch display, and it is extremely comfortable to hold, so a person with smaller
01:15hands could really one hand this phone fairly easy than even these much bigger phones these
01:21days.
01:22I'm holding something like an iPhone 14 Pro here with a 6.1 inch display.
01:28This phone is still not as comfortable as this phone, so if you love small phones, usually
01:32the 5.8 inch area is pretty good, that's why the Zenfone 9 is an awesome pick as well for
01:39you guys who probably want a newer compact device.
01:43But the screen on here is extremely comfortable.
01:45The body of this phone makes it also very comfortable because it's curved, so it fits
01:49in the palm really well.
01:51So that's one of my favorite things, I love the screen on here.
01:55So the specs on the screen, it's a 5.8 inch dynamic AMOLED display, it's HDR10+, and it's
02:00a 1080p display here, and it is also 438 for the PPI.
02:06It gets fairly bright, I've never had issues with this phone in terms of brightness, and
02:10yeah it's just a nice screen to watch content on, beautiful colors.
02:14You do have the punch hole up here, which is a bit bigger than most modern day punch
02:18holes, but it's really not that much of a distraction for me.
02:22So it's just overall just a beautiful experience as far as the screen-wise.
02:26If you have smaller hands, you'll really, really like the screen, and plus you get these
02:29really cool wallpapers that you can add to your phone as well too.
02:33Speaking of the hardware, the S10e still has a premium design here.
02:38So it's still a glass and metal device, it actually still has a headphone jack down below
02:42for people who love, you know, wired earbuds and stuff like that.
02:46You also have on here IP68 dust and water resistant as well too, so you can get this
02:51phone wet and it will not break.
02:54And you also have on here micro SD card support, so you can actually expand the storage with
03:00the S10e as well.
03:01And speaking of the SD card support, let's go ahead and talk about the specs on this
03:06guy.
03:07So you have the Snapdragon 855 chip, and I need to rerun this, but you get the same similar
03:13scores on Android 12.
03:15But guys, the Snapdragon 855 chip is no joke, it's still really, really good when it comes
03:23to performance.
03:24So I dropped a full gaming test on this phone and I'll show you guys.
03:27This phone is able to play games at high settings, no problem.
03:30I was able to play PUBG, HDR Extreme, Fortnite played pretty well on here, Call of Duty Mobile
03:36ran really well.
03:38It just plays games really well.
03:40Now, again, the only issue with gaming hard on this phone is the battery life, which we'll
03:45talk about.
03:46It's not that great on this phone, but man, does this phone kill it when it comes to gaming
03:51performance.
03:52It does a really, really good job.
03:55This phone doesn't really heat up that much.
03:57Again, I'm not a heavy, heavy gamer, but an hour of gaming on this phone, I did not notice
04:01that this phone was heating up or stuttering and crashing and stuff like that.
04:06The 855 to me is still a pretty efficient chipset.
04:10Now, what will surprise you about this phone is that this phone actually has all of the
04:13additional features that you will find on the newer Samsung Galaxy phones, like let's
04:18say for instance, the S22 Ultra minus the S Pen support.
04:22So basically, when you have 4.1, you have your Samsung desktop support, which you can
04:27beam this phone to a TV or a monitor and you get a full desktop experience.
04:34Secure folders is on here as well too.
04:37You also have reverse wireless charging on here.
04:40Basically, all of your software features that you will find on flagship devices that are
04:45newer are still on the S10e as well too.
04:48So that is something that I just absolutely love.
04:51And then this phone has some really awesome sounding stereo speakers as well too.
05:07So, really awesome sounding speakers, very good clarity, very good bass for the size
05:20of this phone is really impressive.
05:22And also, one of the things that I love about this phone, this is probably my favorite implementation
05:26of a fingerprint sensor, is having it up here where it's a into the power button.
05:33So when you unlock the phone, it feels very natural.
05:35You also can take advantage of the face unlock on this phone as well too, just in case you
05:40don't really like this method.
05:42So overall, I just think this is a really well designed phone.
05:46It's really fast as well too.
05:48And the Android 12 update, it has smoothed out the animations I noticed on here.
05:53The phone was never really slow, but I noticed animation and speed is a little bit more consistent
05:59with this phone as well too.
06:01So everything just feels very buttery smooth.
06:03I rarely see hiccups with this phone.
06:06So the experience has been really good with the Android 12 update when you have 4.1.
06:12All right, so let's talk about the cameras on the S10e.
06:15Are the cameras any good on this phone?
06:18And the cameras are still pretty good on the S10e guys.
06:21I compared it to the Zenfone 9 and the new iPhone.
06:25I compared it to the S22 Ultra.
06:27So what I noticed is that the only sort of area where it lacks to newer phones is it
06:33doesn't do as good as newer phones in low light settings.
06:36The pictures can get a little soft when we take light out.
06:41But I'm telling you, in medium to well lit, this phone takes some awesome, awesome pictures
06:46for $120.
06:47So remember that.
06:48You're getting a very good camera for $120.
06:51I'm genuinely impressed with how these cameras have aged.
06:55So very punchy colors.
06:57The ultrawide is pretty consistent with the main lens.
06:59You have a 12 megapixel standard.
07:01You also have a 16 megapixel ultrawide.
07:03It's using 4K60 on the front and back.
07:06And then you have a 10 megapixel selfie cam on here.
07:08The selfie cam does a pretty good job too on this phone.
07:12But man, the dynamic range, the detail on this phone is still really good.
07:16Like I say, in good lighting, it's going to look great.
07:18I can't see anybody paying like $120 for this phone and saying that the camera's not good.
07:23Because honestly, it's competitive to some phones that are a little bit more expensive
07:27to me.

07:53And let's talk about the battery life.
07:59So that's probably the only downside with this phone is that battery life, you can't
08:04really get a full day of battery life out of this phone.
08:07So you have a 3,100 milliamp battery.
08:10You do have wireless charging and reverse wireless charging as well too.
08:15So basically, this phone does around four hours, 30 minutes of screen on time.
08:19Like I said, the update didn't really improve battery life and didn't make it worse, which
08:23is good.
08:24But yeah, so if I were you, I would probably buy a battery pack for this phone.
08:30And you can get a battery pack for pretty cheap on Amazon these days or eBay.
08:36But yeah, so if you're really worried about battery life, I just buy a battery pack and
08:39put it on this phone.
08:40Or they have a battery case that you can buy with this phone as well too.
08:44And since you're getting the phone so cheap, I think it's a good deal to do that.
08:49But four hours, yeah, you definitely can't be gaming and doing hardcore stuff on this
08:53phone because you will need to charge it.
08:55So that's the only downside with the S10e.

09:04Like I said, it's getting security patches as well too.
09:06So the Android 12 update has been really good on this phone.
09:10It's very fast and no issues in terms of quality.
