00:00What is up guys, today we're going to be talking about the Galaxy S20 FE here.
00:05It's been a while since we've talked about this device here, and it's a very nice device
00:11here.
00:12The price has come down tremendously on this phone, it is an older flagship.
00:16This one I have is a Verizon version, you can see 212, and then the unlocked version
00:19is 224.
00:20So, very, very cheap, and I think it's a very interesting buy, and I think it's a really,
00:25really good gaming phone as well too.
00:27For $200, it pretty much blows any mid-range phone out of the water, and pretty much any
00:31budget phone.
00:32And this price range for the specs that you get, so I actually want to kick it off with
00:37the design of this phone, because that is sort of the most interesting thing.
00:40So this is Samsung's fan edition, right, flagship phone.
00:44So basically, it just has cutbacks, you know, to the original Galaxy S20 lineup.
00:50So it's got a plastic back, which is probably the most noticeable thing, but it's got these
00:54metal railings, so it doesn't feel too cheap.
00:57But the cool thing about the plastic back is that, you know, it doesn't, it's not going
01:01to have, it's not going to crack as easy as a glass back, because, you know, plastic's
01:05a little bit more durable, right?
01:07But yeah, so the design on here, it looks pretty good.
01:10I think I got a really boring color, but they have some really bright, vibrant colors for
01:14this phone as well too, which is something that I really like.
01:17But the quality of this phone is really awesome.
01:20So this phone did get Android 13, and if you got Android 13, let me know.
01:24I have not got mine yet, but I will go ahead and update you guys on that, and it will get
01:30three years of security patches.
01:32All S20 phones will get three years of security patches, because Android 13 is the last major
01:37OS update.
01:38All right, so it is IP68 and dust water resistant as well too, and one of my favorite things
01:43about this phone is the screen on here.
01:46I think this phone has a really, really good screen, and like I said, compared to what
01:51you would buy on the market, this has some very nice specs.
01:55So in its price range, like I said, $200, you're getting a really, really nice quality
02:00phone, and I believe this was MKBHD Smartphone of the Year award, I believe.
02:05Yeah, don't quote me on that, but I remember this phone being very high on people's lists
02:10when it first came out.
02:11So it's got a Super AMOLED display at 6.5 inches.
02:15It is also a 1080p screen, 407 for the PPI, very bright screen.
02:20It's completely flat as well too, which a lot of you guys might like as well too.
02:24Very bright, vibrant display here.
02:28The bezels are somewhat pretty thin.
02:30I don't think they're too chunky on here, but I really like the screen on here.
02:33It's just super nice and vibrant, classic Samsung display here.
02:39So also, I want to go ahead and touch on probably one of the most important things
02:42with this phone, is the Snapdragon 865 chip on this phone.
02:46It is really, really impressive, especially since this phone has been getting updates.
02:50It's a really, really fast chip, guys.
02:53So if you guys saw the gaming test that I did, this thing blows through games, man.
02:57So that's why I said for $200, you're not going to get a better deal if you want a Samsung
03:01device.
03:02I would never go for any A-series phone over this phone.
03:05I would never go for any budget Samsung device, like any of those, like the A12s and stuff
03:10like that.
03:11Just pick this older flagship up.
03:12If you're a gamer, you can do everything.
03:14It's got top-notch features.
03:16So that's why you guys see, I really don't recommend budget and mid-range phones because
03:20I just don't think they're worth it over these type of devices.
03:24So like I said, you guys can see the gaming performance on here is pretty sweet.
03:28This phone also has microSD card support as well too.
03:31So I think, yeah, the S20 series was it for microSD card support.
03:35So you guys that like to download a lot of storage or download a lot of movies, games,
03:39or whatever, you do have that on here.
03:42It has 128 gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of RAM.
03:45There's an 8 gigabyte RAM version as well too out there, as well too.
03:50So this phone does have all of the Samsung features as well too.
03:54So it's got Samsung desktop support on here.
03:57It's got Samsung secure folders.
03:59It's also got NFC, Dolby Atmos, pretty much everything in the flagship phones this phone
04:04have.
04:05It even has the reverse wireless charging on here as well too.
04:09So there's really not anything that this phone doesn't have that the newer phones have besides
04:13like the S-Pen support and stuff like that.
04:15You also have on here, you also have on here some pretty nice stereo speakers.
04:34I think it has pretty good bass quality, very good mids and highs, just great clarity
04:46overall.
04:47The vibration motor is pretty strong in this phone as well too.
04:50Also guys, the fingerprint scanner on here is pretty fast as well too.
04:54I don't like that it's like really like close to the bottom.
04:59So I think Samsung moved it up a little bit because this one is like really far down,
05:04but it's fine, you get used to it after a while.
05:07That's really fast and you can also take advantage of the face unlock as well too if you desire
05:12to.
05:13All right, so one of the, I would say the next best thing to the screen is the cameras
05:18on this phone.
05:19This phone has pretty good cameras.
05:21So it's got a 12 megapixel standard, an 8 megapixel telephoto, and a 12 megapixel ultra
05:26wide.
05:27It shoots in 4K 60 on the front and back, and it has a 32 megapixel lens.
05:31Now that might not sound super fancy compared to the newer Samsung phones with the 108 megapixel
05:37lens and all that good stuff with the zooming and stuff like that, but for anybody who's
05:42in a point and steals, not point and steals, point and click, this is going to take some
05:47awesome photos.
05:48It's giving you pretty much, I still think, very competitive flagship quality shots here.
05:52Great dynamic range, gives you the same Samsung image processing with a very punchy colors,
05:57high contrasty type of pictures here.
06:01And yeah, they look really good.
06:02The selfie cam is really good.
06:03I really like the skin tones on here.
06:05It does a little bit of face smoothing, but it's fine.
06:07But like I said, the telephoto is really awesome.
06:10It takes some really good zoom shots on here when you need it.
06:13The ultra wide is very consistent with the main lens, and I think video is pretty solid
06:17on here as well too.
06:18And it takes pretty good portraits, pretty good night photography as well too.
06:23I think the cameras are still awesome on this device.
06:25You guys can see the pictures for yourself.
06:27I just think they just look great.
06:30So, here's the S20, 0.5, and then we have our 3X.
06:49All right, so let's talk about the battery life on this device here.
06:52So this phone has a 4,500 milliamp battery on here, and you also have 25 watt wire charging,
06:5815 watt wireless charging, and then 4.5 watt reverse wireless charging.
07:03Battery life is pretty good on this device.
07:05It gets me about a day of battery life still, so I don't have an issue with the overall
07:10screen on time.
07:11You can easily do around six hours of screen on time.
07:14And yeah, it's overall a solid device here.
07:17So the question is, what are this phone's competitors, right, in the used, you know,
07:24old flagship marketplace here?
07:26So if you want a Samsung device and you want something a little bit newer, with 120 hertz,
07:31with a really fast chip that you can game on, I would definitely get this over the S10
07:35series phones, because it does have the SD card support.
07:39The only thing this phone is lacking is like a headphone jack, because I know a lot of
07:42people really like headphone jacks.
07:43It doesn't have that.
07:44But yeah, if you're thinking about getting a Samsung phone, this is actually an extremely
07:48sweet deal for 200 bucks, very, very nice.
07:51And you know, the cameras are great, the screen is great, battery life is pretty good.
07:58And I just don't have any complaints with this phone.
08:00At 200 bucks, it just goes above and beyond.
08:03It's just extremely good.
