00:00We'll get back into some of the Steve Weiss sound a little later in the show, but we got
00:04some people that still want to talk about this Warrior game last night.
00:08The Warriors got beat 91-90 to the Houston Rockets.
00:12They didn't score down the stretch.
00:15They turned the ball over.
00:16They took a bad shot, or at least a shot too quickly.
00:21They didn't get a good shot with the game on the line.
00:24Kuminga got called for a foul that Steve Kerr was livid about.
00:28The one thing I will say is they did send a pool reporter to the officials, the great
00:36Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, and he asked Billy Kennedy why was a foul
00:41called on Jonathan Kuminga, scrambling for the loose ball with three seconds to go, and
00:47he said because Kuminga made contact with the neck and shoulder.
00:54I got to admit, when I saw it live, I thought it was bogus, but they showed that one angle
01:01from the other baseline, and it kind of looked like Kuminga came in there with a forearm
01:07and it was around his neck and shoulder area.
01:11So GP2 also got that, I believe, same contact from Van Vliet going for the ball, then there
01:16was no call.
01:19I can't deny it.
01:20Green made both free throws, Jalen.
01:22I just knew he was going to leave.
01:24I told Evan, I thought the pressure might get to him, he'll miss both.
01:28He made, to his credit, he made both, gave him a lead.
01:31Let's go out to Ron in Vegas.
01:34What's going on, Ron?
01:35How you doing?
01:36Where the Warriors won't be.
01:38Thank you for taking my call.
01:40Can you guys hear me?
01:42Yes, sir.
01:43Okay, so I think we have a Steve Kerr problem.
01:47I think it's time for him to go.
01:51He's the luckiest man in basketball, he doesn't have a feel for the game, he's obsessed with
01:57his three-guard lineup, and he has favoritism.
02:01He's got our own special project in Kaczynski.
02:05We've never seen Coach JK or Moody like this.
02:09And now he's also obsessed on using GP2 like he's Dennis Rodman on defense and Karl Malone
02:15on offense.
02:17I don't think we should trade any player until we let Steve walk.
02:22Thank you for taking my call.
02:25Thank you for weighing in.
02:27He said his little project.
02:29I mean, Pods is not playing well.
02:33He hit a three to your side still.
02:35That's not playing well.
02:36I didn't say that.
02:37I'm just telling you I'm watching.
02:38One three in a course of a 48-minute game.
02:41And set some other guys up, made some good passes.
02:44I'm just saying, he wasn't his best by any stretch.
02:47But to ignore the fact that he hit it to not play well and think you're going to beat a
02:52team that right now is sitting at, what, three in the West?
02:55But you feel like he's been given the keys.
02:58And I think that's turning a lot of Warrior fans off.
03:00How many minutes did he play last night, Podziemski?
03:03Let's see.
03:05He played 30.
03:09They don't have Wiggins.
03:10And was out there in the end.
03:13888-957-9570 is the number.
03:18Again, Warriors, they got a bad whistle at the end, according to Steve Kerr.
03:23Actually, let's get into some of that right now.
03:26First I want to play, I want to hear the great Tim Roy on the final call.
03:32I haven't seen the replay, but in that type of situation, there's a feel of who got to
03:38the ball first.
03:40If you're telling me it was a clear foul, then I'll shut up, but I don't think that's
03:45the case.
03:46Is it?
03:47Was it?
03:48There's indecision in the group, so that means then let the game play out and let us decide
03:54it.
03:55Not to free those 90 feet from the basket.
03:59All right, so Steph is talking about the last play, and he said, you know, you usually don't
04:05get that.
04:06Surrounded by reporters, and he goes, you know, if it was a clear foul, I'll shut up.
04:10And then he goes, was it a clear foul?
04:12And the reporters were like, well, yeah.
04:15And he goes, well, if that was the case, then they shouldn't have called it 90 feet from
04:18the basket.
04:19But the bottom line, I would tell Steph, hey, look, the two shot clock violations cost you
04:25guys the game.
04:26And I believe they had six on the night.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Come on, man.
04:30Here's Steph Curry, asked if he liked that shot he got and whether or not it was too
04:35early.
04:36I mean, they were talking the whole 94 feet, and when you find a little bit of space, shoot
04:42that shot all the time.
04:43And obviously the way it went down, loose ball, the 50-50 ball into an unreal loose
04:51ball foul that changed the game.
04:53So definitely probably a couple of seconds too early.
04:55I like the shot if we make it.
04:57If I make it, we're on a plane to Vegas.
04:59So I live with it, but tough with it.
05:02Yeah, I think the first part of that answer was the most important part of that answer
05:07when he said they were hawking 94 feet.
05:09I heard it, Steve.
05:10So if that's the way he felt like he was guarded and he felt like he had an opening, even with
05:1611 seconds left on the game clock and eight on the shot clock, he probably felt like this
05:21is the best look I'm going to get.
05:24And he took it at the time, and we've seen him make it before.
05:27And you know what I'm going to do with that soundbite is tip my cap to the Houston Rockets
05:30because, damn, if you got a prolific score and Bonafide Hall of Famer thinking that way
05:36about your defense.
05:38So Steph was in the Matrix.
05:40He's thinking they're hawking.
05:41That's already on his mind.
05:43It's not the ideal situation to shoot the ball, but because the D is so hawkish, he
05:49chucked it.
05:50All right.
05:51Let me see if I can get this right.
05:53This is Tim Roy on the final call for at least the second to last call.
05:58Thanks.
05:59Shot clock down to 13.
06:02Curry at midcourt, drives to the top of the key, step back, three over Brooks, no good.
06:08Rebound loose, and GP2 goes to the floor to get it.
06:12He throws it away, and now the Warriors get it, and we have a foul, a foul.
06:17Bill Kennedy's called a foul on the floor.
06:21With 3.5 to go, and that's going to put the Rockets to the free throw line.
06:27Oh my goodness.
06:30Vintage Tim Roy.
06:32Great call.
06:33Because it was a little unclear what was going on.
06:37It wasn't clear right away that Bill Kennedy was coming in with a foul.
06:40He might have been coming in with a jump ball.
06:42Now what if GP2 would have called timeout?
06:45Then they would have gotten a timeout.
06:47I'm assuming they had one.
06:48I asked Bonte.
06:49He said they did.
06:50And Kirsten said he didn't want to call it because he, you know.
06:54I get it.
06:56I mean, man.
06:58Let's go to Darrell in San Jose.
07:01What's up, Darrell?
07:02How you doing, man?
07:03Darrell.
07:04Hey.
07:05Hey, what's up, Darrell?
07:06Hey, can you hear me?
07:07Yes, sir.
07:08Can you hear me?
07:09Yep.
07:10Okay, great.
07:11A few things real fast.
07:12I'm going to ask you guys just a couple questions real fast.
07:18One note, why didn't Paul go to the basket to get a foul?
07:21I don't understand that.
07:22I didn't understand it.
07:23I felt like they were looking for a three even though they were down one.
07:28I don't think they even looked inside the arc.
07:31So I agree with you there.
07:32Go to the basket.
07:33If they're going to call fouls like that, go to the basket and get a foul.
07:36So I don't understand that.
07:38But in any case, Barkley said something about them reaching their peak.
07:42They can't keep up that pace that they did the first quarter of the season.
07:48What do you guys think about that?
07:50And why didn't Kirk put in more bench players to equal out the age of Curry and Draymond?
07:57I don't get some of that coaching.
07:59Like I said, I called you guys before and I said, we don't have the wing players.
08:06Atlanta got the wing players.
08:09That's the standard.
08:11So we get some guys like that, wing players, I mean, come on, man.
08:16Well, Jonathan Kaminga is a wing player and again, Stani, I'm just telling you what my
08:22ears have been hearing.
08:24I thought this was a wasted opportunity if they were married to the, and I get what you
08:28said and you said it profoundly, profoundly.
08:31But the bottom line is, let's see Jonathan Kaminga fail in that situation.
08:35Well, he did.
08:38He didn't make his free throws that could have won the game.
08:41But I'm talking about the game where the ball had to go through Draymond.
08:44You could have just gave it to Kaminga and then let the chips fall where they may.
08:48Who's the best initiator on the Warriors?
08:50Draymond.
08:51Okay, well, they're trying to get the ball to Kaminga.
08:54You can get the ball to him by inbounding it to him.
08:57Here, take it.
08:58Watch the history of the league.
08:59You don't need to fiddle-faddle to get somebody to ball.
09:02Well, you don't want.
09:03Call the play, identify who the guy is, and we're playing this through you.
09:08You didn't want to play call.
09:09You want to just give the ball to Kaminga at the top of the key.
09:12No, he can't put the ball on the floor.
09:15I would not give the ball to Kaminga against that team in that situation with a dribble.
09:21I have no problem with them.
09:23Then you've got your answer to what this dude's supposed to be if you feel that way.
09:28That's ridiculous.
09:29So you think Kaminga's ball, he could have surveyed, passed, or did whatever, but anything
09:34would have been better than what Draymond did.
09:36My point is, he's not Jerry Rice.
09:39Why are you trying to hit him cutting to the basket?
09:42This dude's a mismatch.
09:43Let him survey.
09:44Trust him.
09:45And, Steiner, he might mess up.
09:46Okay, you live.
09:47You live with that.
09:48But all I've been hearing all week is, Kaminga this, Kaminga that.
09:49And now you're telling me, because they're worried about his handle, he can't, he got
09:50robbed of that opportunity.
09:51I don't get it.
09:52I would have given him the ball, clear out, and let me see what I can do.
09:53And I don't think that would have been a smart move when you've committed 22 turnovers against
09:54the ball-hawking defense when, to me, putting the ball on the floor is not a smart move.
09:55And I don't think that would have been a smart move when you've committed 22 turnovers against
09:56the ball-hawking defense when, to me, putting the ball on the floor is not a smart move.
