00:00I have a feeling she always wonders about the different ways of dying, you know, violently.
00:04Here's your look at the NECA, The Return of the Living Dead, Retro Cloth, Trash and Suicide.
00:22Get the retro fix and celebrate the 1985 horror comedy movie The Return of the Living Dead
00:27with this trash and suicide clothed action figure 2-pack.
00:30Based on the cult classic film's original poster art,
00:32these poseable 8-inch figures are dressed in tailored fabric clothing,
00:35similar to the toy lines that helped define the licensed action figure market in the 1970s.
00:40These fully articulated figures include a spray can and gravestone featuring the film's logo.
00:45Comes in collector-friendly window box packaging.
00:48Do you want a party? It's party time!
00:50Actually, though, just before anyone puts down their drinks, if they could kindly grab a coaster.
00:54Don't want to ruin the tabletops.
00:55Let's take the tape measure, though, and see how tall The Return of the Living Dead,
00:58Retro Cloth, Trash and Suicide stands.
01:01We're going to start things first with Trash, simply just because she's the first.
01:04She is actually going to, in fact, be about 7 1⁄4 inches in height,
01:07or roughly 19 centimeters tall.
01:10Then to the top of the mohawk, I go for Suicide.
01:12He's clearly going to be taller.
01:14He's actually about 8 1⁄4 inches in height, or 8 3⁄4 of an inch in height.
01:18Translating, though, to a figure that's 21 centimeters tall.
01:21Now, both these decayed zombies are based on the original Return of the Living Dead poster art,
01:26so that's one of the reasons why Trash is keeping her clothing on.
01:28You know, with her clothing on and the way they've styled her head,
01:31she also looks a little bit like Wilma Northrup from, of course, Creepshow,
01:34who, of course, is played by Adrienne Barbeau.
01:36I just happen to have, though, a retro cloth release who's clearly, though, taller.
01:40Here's what the figures look like with the fog Stevie Wayne.
01:43I don't have really much in the way of Return of the Living Dead, though.
01:45I happen to have, though, a reaction figure.
01:48This was released by Super 7.
01:49I mean, obviously, it's going to be a lot smaller in size.
01:51But, you know, the one thing, though, that the reaction figure did do,
01:55it did accurately give the lack of clothing that the poster of Trash actually had.
01:59Before we talk about the lack of garments,
02:01let's look at the accessories that come in clear with the sets.
02:03First, the figures do come in clear with the Return of the Living Dead tombstone.
02:06This, again, very faithfully recreates the one that we see in the poster.
02:10I think with the poster, though,
02:11it's obviously going to be a little bit lighter in yellow here in the front,
02:14because I think the light's basically shining from the front.
02:16Lacking, of course, a little bit of that yellow,
02:19I think it also needed to be just a little bit longer.
02:21But it does still have the font of the Return of the Living Dead,
02:24very, again, faithfully reproduced on the front.
02:27The tombstone doesn't have much in the way of the back,
02:29but obviously they've got some nice weathering around the edges of it.
02:32Nice little accompanying accessory.
02:33I mean, for me to display these on the shelf and not to include the tombstone,
02:37shame on me.
02:38We'll move that also off to the side.
02:40Now, one thing also comes in clear with this is the spray can.
02:42Though, really, the spray can doesn't belong really to Suicide or Trash,
02:46for that matter.
02:46It also belongs to another zombie that's just off to the corner,
02:49spraying Return of the Living Dead on the front of the tombstone.
02:52We don't get that other zombie, who would kind of be right around here.
02:56So, for displaying this option-wise,
02:58I think I probably would just end up putting it into the hand of Trash or Suicide.
03:01I think NECA also would agree with that, too,
03:03because, I mean, when you look at, obviously, the figures, too,
03:06I mean, like, Trash doesn't only,
03:08not only does she have one missing arm,
03:09but it doesn't really have, like, the proper hand, I feel,
03:12to hold the spray can.
03:13So, instead, what we'll do,
03:14you'll take the fingers, though,
03:15and you'll see, like, the fingers for Suicide are quite soft.
03:18Mixing's very easy, as well, to take the spray can,
03:21just kind of wedge it down on his fingers.
03:23And even though, again, like, it's not the most recreating of the poster,
03:27you can now have, again, Suicide looking with this,
03:29having the spray can in his hand.
03:32You know what?
03:32Actually, while we have Suicide in hand,
03:35we'll kind of move everything out of the way here.
03:37Getting, though, a closer look at the figure,
03:39you know, I think it's pretty close to the way it looks in the poster.
03:42I mean, he has the chains on the front, like in the poster.
03:44He has the mohawk.
03:45He's even got the little earring there.
03:46They've sculpted on the side.
03:47Actually, not even sculpted.
03:49They've added an earring onto the side,
03:51and he's got his studded collar.
03:53None of these outfit ideas, by the way,
03:55would be ones I would entertain myself.
03:57I mean, I don't think I could really pull off this look.
03:59But apparently, a decayed skeleton-like statue,
04:02a skeletal-like zombie, can pull that off very easily.
04:05One thing I do think that's good is that the chains are made of real...
04:08I feel like they are made of real metal.
04:09They're certainly cool to the touch.
04:11They crisscross applesauce on the front,
04:13and then, of course, on the back,
04:14they sort of like meet in the middle here.
04:16He's also got a chain down below here
04:18that's just below his leather jacket,
04:20which actually is just a regular...
04:22just like a faux leather material.
04:24I don't know, like, the longevity of this.
04:25Even if this is one of those things that will decay over time,
04:28it may even just add to the appeal
04:29of these guys being decayed anyways.
04:32If we actually open up the jacket,
04:33you can see it looks like they are using a retro cloth body,
04:36and what they've just done only
04:37is they've gone in and painted the ribs.
04:39Again, I can't expect them to go in there
04:41and sculpt the entire torso from scratch.
04:44Might also be one of the reasons
04:45why they never did that either here with Trash.
04:48We'll kind of talk more about in a moment.
04:49But the head sculpt is quite good.
04:51You've got the mohawk there on the top.
04:53His face looks quite decayed.
04:55The poster, obviously, has also only got one eye.
04:58The other eye is just a socket.
04:59I kind of really wish that the mouth could open and close,
05:01but short of that,
05:02I think it's a really good head sculpt for suicide.
05:06Further down below as well,
05:08he also has his slacks.
05:09I'm not really sure.
05:10I guess these are supposed to be zippers
05:12on the sides of his pockets.
05:14And, of course, he's got one ripped open area here
05:15so you can kind of see the side of his leg.
05:17And, of course, he does have, as well, his punk boots.
05:20Now, being that these are also using
05:21the newer retro cloth bodies,
05:23he does have the articulation now that's present.
05:26But older retro cloth figures
05:28could never say that they had this.
05:29Most of the time,
05:30they usually would only have single hinges
05:32up and down on the ankles.
05:33So at least suicide and trash, for that matter, have those.
05:36For the figure's articulation,
05:37at least with him,
05:38head's going to rotate back and forth.
05:40It's going to move up,
05:41which I was kind of surprised to see.
05:42And it does move down.
05:43You can also rock it back and forth as well.
05:46Kind of have to kind of get below the layers here.
05:48The figure does have an upper torso ball joint.
05:50It looks like he's also got the standard waist swivel.
05:53So, the arms can easily come out.
05:55It certainly does help, as well,
05:56that the material that they're using,
05:58the leather material, is a little thinner.
06:00It seems to be able to pull off,
06:01not quite fully, a T-pose,
06:03but the arms don't seem limited at all.
06:05There's a swivel at the bicep.
06:07There's also a single hinge only in the...
06:09A double hinge, I should say.
06:10Not a single hinge.
06:10A double hinge in the elbow.
06:12And the hands rotate all the way around.
06:14As for his legs,
06:15they split only that far.
06:16You can take the legs and move forward.
06:18I mean, to look at this like this,
06:20I mean, there's no real way
06:20that he can bring his legs any further forward.
06:22It also really makes things quite tight
06:24in the groin area.
06:25Not that I really want to be focusing our attention
06:26on the groin of the zombie.
06:29The legs do swivel.
06:30A little bit of swivel on the top of the thigh.
06:32Single hinge only for the knee.
06:33There's a little bit of rotation here.
06:35Of course, the ankles, yeah,
06:36they move up and down.
06:37And being that they are using the newer bodies,
06:39there's also a rocker back and forth.
06:42Nice looking figure.
06:43Nice looking suicide.
06:44Not that I really want to keep saying suicide
06:45in this movie, I can't, or in this review,
06:47I can't imagine that that's going to work
06:48all that well for AdSense.
06:49But yeah, there's suicide.
06:51Now let's talk a little bit about trash.
06:54Clearly also, this is not Linnea Quigley.
06:56The only other Linnea Quigley figure
06:58that we've actually got for retro cloth figures
07:00was the one from Night of the Demons.
07:01Night of the Demons, yeah.
07:02I probably should have also brought that one in
07:04also as well.
07:05I know I said this earlier.
07:06I mean, not that this is a real compliment
07:09to Adrian Barbeau,
07:10but I feel like that looks a lot like Adrian Barbeau.
07:12Of course, it has more like the,
07:14I guess it's that permed hairstyle.
07:16It's supposed to,
07:16I guess it's supposed to be spikier hair,
07:18but it kind of comes across
07:19more like a perm than anything else.
07:21It's got the earring off to the side.
07:22Really nice skeletal face here.
07:25Pretty close again to the way it looks in the poster.
07:27Here's one issue though with this,
07:29and I can't speak for NECA
07:31because I don't work for NECA.
07:32One thing I didn't notice though
07:33that they've done with the figure
07:34is that they intentionally gave her the longer dress.
07:37It's torn, it's ripped, sure.
07:40But if you look at the poster actually,
07:41her dress should end right around here.
07:44I mean, I don't even know if this,
07:45it'd be safe to say that this is supposed to be a dress.
07:48Maybe it was only supposed to be a tank top.
07:50And if that's the case,
07:50it only really would have ended here.
07:52And then she would have had like the tops of her hips,
07:54the bones of her hips.
07:55And of course the interior there as well.
07:57Maybe perhaps for decency,
07:59NECA chose that it was a smarter idea
08:01to give her a full dress instead.
08:02I mean, obviously if we just bring this up,
08:03it's just a regular green body underneath.
08:05I would also be safe to assume
08:07that they're probably using the same body
08:08as like the Elvira's
08:09or even in the case that we brought in earlier,
08:12Stevie Wayne.
08:12It looks like they're probably using the,
08:14no, no, maybe a little fuller in the torso
08:16than Stevie Wayne.
08:17What?
08:18No.
08:18Yeah.
08:19It does look like maybe she's a little fuller figure.
08:22Of course, she does also have the little collar
08:23or a little necklace piece that she has.
08:25It doesn't seem like it's a separate piece.
08:27It looks like they've sculpted it to her torso.
08:29I can't say like accurate wise,
08:31it's there because I mean,
08:32really in the poster,
08:33it should have really had the top
08:34being ripped right here.
08:35But, you know, again,
08:36for the decency of this,
08:37even being a zombie and all,
08:39I would imagine that Neck
08:40would have looked at this carefully
08:41and thought,
08:41you know what?
08:42We can't really have,
08:43I know she's a decayed skeleton,
08:44but we can't still have
08:46only really her wearing an outfit
08:47just up here
08:48and completely bare down below.
08:50That's probably one of the reasons
08:51why they chose not to do that.
08:53Granted, there is Velcro on the back.
08:54So if you did want to open up the dress,
08:56stop that pervert,
08:57you can do that.
08:57You take the dress off if you want to.
08:59Or some people might even find
09:00to go in there
09:01and just kind of trim the dress.
09:03I'm not going to do that.
09:03I mean, I think I'm not bothered
09:05by too much of the fact
09:06that she's wearing a full dress.
09:09Articulation, though, for Trash.
09:11Again, very much similar to Suicide.
09:13The head's going to rotate
09:13all the way around on a ball joint.
09:15Head's going to look down
09:15and look up.
09:17Missed it.
09:17I'll do it again.
09:18Down and up.
09:19And you can also rock it
09:20back and forth as well.
09:22The upper torso, once again,
09:23seems to be relying on a ball joint.
09:25The arms rotate.
09:26I shouldn't say arms rotate.
09:27Oh, no.
09:27Did that just break?
09:29Oh, no.
09:29It just broke.
09:30Oh, no.
09:31I had turned this earlier
09:33and I had no issues whatsoever.
09:34And now, lo and behold,
09:35the moment I start to hit the record,
09:38I broke the arm.
09:39Let's see if I can go in there.
09:40I'm probably going to have
09:41to use a little bit of glue.
09:42Oh.
09:45Anyways, though,
09:46what I would have normally said
09:47is the arm would have hinged out.
09:49I guess maybe it was...
09:50It moved earlier fine.
09:52And now, sure enough,
09:52it had to break
09:53when the camera was recording.
09:54Normally, I would have said
09:55it would rotate right here.
09:57The figure's arms...
09:58Oh, that's a bit of a bummer.
09:58It would have double hinged
09:59in the elbow
10:00and the hands would have
10:01rotated all the way around.
10:02You know, it's so ironic, though,
10:04that this one arm broke
10:05because that's the only arm
10:06that she has.
10:07She's been somewhat disarmed
10:09on the other side.
10:11This arm right here
10:11is just a molded piece.
10:12It's actually part of her torso.
10:14So there's really no way
10:15to rotate this.
10:16The bone itself,
10:17as you can see,
10:17is actually making a softer...
10:19making use of a softer plastic.
10:21Ah.
10:22Anyways, we'll push forward, though.
10:24The upper torso
10:24is going to be on a ball joint.
10:26Yeah, yeah.
10:26The legs do split out.
10:27It's forward and back,
10:28motion on the legs.
10:29It's a swivel at the top
10:30of the thigh,
10:31double hinge on the knee,
10:32and an ankle pivot up and down
10:34and an ankle rocker.
10:36Boy, that's bad news
10:37because, again,
10:38like I'd rotated the arm earlier
10:39and hinged it out
10:40and had no issues whatsoever.
10:41I don't know what snagged,
10:42what caused the rip,
10:43but needless to say,
10:45the arm did break off.
10:46I mean, in the end, though,
10:47as we'll see
10:48when we get to the final looks
10:50and we jump to the turntable,
10:51I'm only probably
10:51just going to glue
10:52the peg in place.
10:53Is it going to limit
10:54some of the mobility?
10:55I mean, in the end,
10:56the only thing
10:56it's going to prevent
10:57from doing is
10:58I won't be able
10:58to rotate the arm
10:59as I'm so carefully
11:00trying to do it.
11:01Not that it really matters
11:01to be careful now.
11:03The only thing
11:04I really won't be able
11:05to do now
11:05is be able to rotate
11:06back and forth
11:07on the bicep.
11:08If I glue it well enough,
11:09yeah, I think the shoulder
11:10was maybe just,
11:12I don't know,
11:13I loosened what I thought
11:14the shoulder was enough
11:15so I could be able
11:16to move the arm,
11:17but I guess the shoulder
11:17was still tight enough.
11:19It didn't move.
11:20This moved,
11:21broke right off.
11:22But again,
11:23I'm only going to just
11:23glue it back in place.
11:24It's not going to limit
11:25the articulation here
11:26for the elbow.
11:26It's not going to do anything
11:27when it comes to the wrist.
11:28It's only just going to be
11:28the fact that I know
11:30I broke it
11:31and I guess everybody else
11:32that has ended up
11:32watching this review.
11:34Short of breaking that
11:35and, I mean,
11:36boy, disappointment
11:37then falls on my face.
11:39Yeah, I like the set
11:40quite a lot.
11:41I mean, if you're going
11:42in this and being the one
11:43that like nickel and dimes
11:44the details and says,
11:45well, wait, hey, wait a minute.
11:47Trash on the front
11:48of the poster
11:48shouldn't really have
11:49a full dress.
11:50I acknowledge that,
11:51but I think you have
11:52to also look at this
11:53as well.
11:54A partially,
11:54I mean, skeletal
11:55or otherwise,
11:56a partially dressed
11:57female figure
11:58probably wouldn't have
11:59flew as well
12:00to have NECA release that
12:02from a retail level
12:03or a comic store level.
12:04In the end,
12:05they chose to give her
12:06a longer dress.
12:07Doesn't bother me
12:07really at all.
12:08I mean, like the color
12:09of the dress
12:09is still pretty close enough.
12:11We now finally have
12:11ourselves retro cloth figures,
12:13damaged or otherwise,
12:14damaged or otherwise.
12:15We now have retro cloth figures
12:16at least of trash and suicide.
12:17I wonder though
12:18if NECA is going to decide
12:19to release the other zombie.
12:21I don't think the zombie
12:21had really a name,
12:22but the one that we see
12:23in the poster
12:24that's at the bottom
12:25of the tombstone,
12:25that's actually spraying
12:26the font on the tombstone.
12:28I wonder if we're ever
12:29going to be getting
12:29that release
12:30and I wonder what
12:30they're going to call it
12:31if they eventually do.
12:32It's okay, Trash.
12:33With a little bit of glue,
12:33you're as good as new.
12:34Well, as good as new
12:35as you could be
12:35for a decaying zombie.
12:37Yes, it did.
12:38It was a disappointing thing
12:39that I happened to have
12:40broken the peg,
12:41especially during the review
12:42because moving it earlier,
12:43I had no issues whatsoever.
12:45But I guess still,
12:46the shoulder was tight enough
12:47and I should have
12:48really learned my lesson
12:49when it was kind of
12:50giving me some resistance earlier.
12:52It should have told me
12:53right away to heat it up
12:54with a hairdryer
12:55or even submerging
12:56in hot water.
12:57I pushed forward
12:58and I thought to myself,
12:59well, I mean,
12:59moving the arm,
13:00if I just move it carefully,
13:01well, I guess I wasn't
13:02careful enough
13:03and it broke right off.
13:05Like I said,
13:06at least it broke
13:06in probably the best of places.
13:08I mean, it didn't limit
13:09necessarily the elbow articulation.
13:11She still fully retains it
13:12in two places.
13:13It doesn't necessarily limit
13:14what she can do in her wrist,
13:15even though she only has
13:16one wrist to work with.
13:18Breaking it in that one area,
13:20I mean, for a fact
13:21that this figure
13:21only has one arm anyways,
13:23in the end though,
13:24from looking at her
13:26on the shelf,
13:27she's going to look
13:27just the same as I did
13:28take her out of the packaging.
13:30Still though,
13:31I mean, like having
13:31the two figures on the shelf,
13:33even though, again,
13:33they're not looking like
13:34they would in the movie,
13:35especially with trash,
13:37I think the very unlikelihood
13:39that we're ever going
13:40to be getting ourselves
13:40a retro cloth release of trash
13:42as she's seen in the film
13:44played by Lynn and Quigley.
13:46What we do get though instead
13:47is the classic art style
13:50of the poster
13:50of Return of the Living Dead,
13:52where of course now
13:52the zombies are green
13:53instead of flesh skin toned.
13:55Again, to look at this,
13:57I know like the dress
13:57isn't 100% accurate.
13:59I feel like it's less
14:00the dress in the poster
14:01and it's more like
14:02a ripped tank top.
14:04Nekka chose instead
14:04to give her a dress
14:05and probably for the decency
14:06of the figure,
14:07dead or otherwise,
14:08it was probably
14:08the safer bet to go with.
14:10What do you guys think
14:10of this set?
14:11Let me know down below
14:11in the comment section.
14:13Let me know also
14:13if you've ever had issues
14:14where you've had
14:15a figure snap.
14:16I mean, for me,
14:17it happens.
14:18It happens like
14:18with the best of us,
14:19not that I'm saying
14:20one of the best of us,
14:22but I mean,
14:22certainly it does happen
14:23to all of us.
14:24I don't think
14:25it's been a while
14:26since I've actually
14:26broken anything in a review.
14:28So I think this is
14:29probably the first time
14:29I've done it
14:30in probably the last
14:30couple of years.
14:32But still though,
14:32it does happen
14:33and again,
14:33no harm,
14:34no foul.
14:35It's a little bit of glue
14:35and like I said,
14:36for as good as she is
14:37in the state that she is,
14:38she's as good as she was
14:39when I first took it
14:40out of the packaging.
14:41If you guys did enjoy
14:42this video,
14:42you can do it a solid
14:43and throw it a like.
14:44You guys want to stick around
14:45for more so?
14:46I hope so.
14:47I can't really make the promise.
14:48I mean,
14:48even like making the promise,
14:50I'm not going to break anything
14:50in other reviews
14:51probably will just end up
14:52jinxing me,
14:53but there will be more
14:54NECA reviews coming your way
14:55for the rest of this week.
14:56As always,
14:56thanks for watching.
14:57See you guys next time.
