00:00while she's finally going commando. No, it's not what you think. Here's a look at
00:04the brand-new NECA toys. This is Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Commando Elvira.
00:24Introducing NECA's first official figure from the 1988 film Elvira, Mistress of
00:28the Dark. When Elvira inherits a house in a closed-minded community, hijinks
00:33ensue in this camp classic comedy horror film. Get ready to be blown away by
00:37Commando Elvira. This eight-inch figure is fully articulated and features an all-
00:41new tailored dress to recreate the iconic movie scene. Accessories include
00:46an all-new dagger, all-new bracelets, interchangeable face plates with an
00:49all-new expression, Aunt Morgana's spellbook, bazooka, and figure stand. I
00:54see this time the Mistress of the Dark is packing heat. Heat, you perverts. Before
00:59we get a closer look at the new Commando Elvira from Mistress of the Dark, let's
01:03take the tape measure and see how tall the figure clocks in. Now, I've currently
01:06got her on the display stand, probably best advised to do and follow suit with
01:09that. Just the way that her high heels are designed, she isn't gonna stand on
01:13her own. She's very top-heavy. Stop that, perverts. The tape measure is gonna tell
01:17us, if I can actually get it unraveled, that Elvira is gonna in fact stand about
01:21eight and three quarts of an inch in height, translating though to a figure
01:24that's 22 centimeters tall. Four figures? Four figures sounds about right for what
01:30we've gotten so far from Elvira and the team at NECA. Now, granted, I'm not, of
01:33course, including the Tooney Terrors releases of her. We've all covered that
01:36here on this channel. Here's what the figure looks like with the original
01:38Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. I think if we're doing this in proper order, we've
01:42also got, of course, ourselves the Christmas edition Elvira. This was the
01:46Elvira from, I think, the Scary Xmas box set that came included with the ghoul.
01:49Then, of course, we also got ourselves the Over the Rainbow Elvira. In each of
01:53the instances, we seem to have gotten ourselves a different head sculpt. The
01:56one thing that was kind of interesting, at least, of the Over Rainbow, if you had
01:58the chance to pick up that figure, is that she also started to utilize face
02:01plates, something that the Commando release of Elvira starts to do as well.
02:05Bazooka, book, and what other thing starts with a B? Oh, right, yeah. A display base
02:09comes included with Elvira. The figure, yes, also comes included with her dagger.
02:13Now, the thing that's interesting about the dagger is, while it may look very
02:17similar to the one that we got from the original release of her, let's just bring
02:20that in right now, it is, though, a different designed one. You can see it
02:24for yourself. One thing you'll probably notice right away, though, is the handle
02:28is a lot longer now with the Commando release of her. So small of a dagger. You
02:32can also see that the blade is a little more narrower as well. It still sheets,
02:36though, on the front of her outfit. You'll see that there's probably a little
02:39looplet right there. We'll make sure, of course, I'm grabbing the right one. Yeah,
02:42it's this one right here. You can take the dagger, and, of course, just feed it up
02:45just on her belt. I guess probably putting it this way would make the most
02:48sense, because if you put it upside down like that, there's always the risk that
02:52it's gonna fall, and before you know it, it's gonna get lost in the floor. And
02:54where's it gonna go? You're gonna ask yourself with the answer being told. I
02:57have no idea. I don't know where that dagger even went. The figure, like I said,
03:00does come also included with the book. I do actually like the fact that they
03:04included Aunt Morgana's spell book, and while, unfortunately, though, the book
03:07doesn't actually open up, it's a nice recreation to the actual book that we
03:10see in the film. She does somewhat have, technically, a gripping hand on the other
03:15side, although it's kind of really more of a relaxed hand. So if you're looking
03:17to put that in her hand, obviously, you could also put it on this side, although
03:21if you're looking really at the hand, it's clearly more molded together, so
03:25these fingers and the thumb aren't gonna be going anywhere. I guess you can
03:28kind of wedge the book in there, but it kind of looks like she's throwing more
03:30of a ninja star. Yeah, instead, what I'm gonna probably end up doing is just have
03:33the book either in her hand like this, and just do your best to balance it.
03:36Don't sneeze, whatever you do. Don't cough. No, no, don't cough. The guy that looks
03:40like he's putting his hand up to his mouth. Stop that. Leave. Leave right now.
03:43You can do it that way, and it holds okay, but I'm clearly, I mean, I'm guessing
03:48they probably could have come up with a better hand option available for her to
03:51hold Morgana's book. The figure also comes in clear with the bazooka.
03:55The bazooka itself is nice. I mean, I love the fact that they actually
03:59took the time to include this. They say that, really, this is the first Elvira
04:02Mistress of the Dark movie figure. Technically, though, we've already got the
04:05Elvira Mistress of the Dark figure, which easily could have been implanted into
04:09the movie as well, but this is also the true movie figure release of her, and she,
04:13like I said, does come in clear with the bazooka. It's big. It's large. It's fairly
04:16weighted, too, and it does also have a strap. Now, at the beginning of this
04:19review, I had this strapped around the back of her body. As we move, kind of,
04:23closer to the moving this figure over to the rotisserie, I'm probably gonna have
04:26the figure displayed with the bazooka in her hand. Speaking of which, though, while
04:30the hand doesn't have much mobility to it, you can take, though, the handle of the
04:34bazooka, kind of just wedge it in there. You kind of have to move it back and
04:37forth, back and forth, until finally it gets in there. It's not the easiest thing
04:41to do, and you may, in fact, even have to heat the hand just a little bit, but, I
04:46mean, if you're looking at the way the fingers are, soften up just a little bit.
04:49Don't do what I just did. Maybe even take a hairdryer. Take a few passes, and
04:53eventually you'll get the bazooka in her hand. And thank goodness, as well, the
04:56other B, that she does come in clear with the display base. At least it ensures
04:59that the figure isn't gonna fall. The one last thing that she does also have,
05:03taking some cues from the Over the Rainbow release of her, is that she also
05:07has a removable faceplate. Now, this is the removed faceplate. This would have
05:11been the one that also gets gifted inside the tray. If you're looking at
05:14this one, it may look familiar to you, because it happens to be the exact same
05:17faceplate that got also packed with the Over the Rainbow release of her. It seems
05:21to be exact. I mean, maybe the paint is a little bit different, but it looks like
05:25the eyeshadow is about the same pink. It looks like the lips are about the same
05:28pink, and the placement of mole is obviously in the same spot. Changing out
05:32the heads, though, I mean, changing out the faceplates, I should say. Go ahead and
05:35first take the bazooka out of her hand. Let's go ahead and also remove her from
05:39the display base. Now, the display base is very actually similar to the one that
05:43we got. Let me just grab the one from Elvira and the Sister of the Dark. You'll see
05:48that with her release, she only had just basically a black circular display stand.
05:51The one that we got from the Christmas one, the Christmas release of Scary
05:55X-Men, did in fact actually have Elvira's signature on it, which is identical, as
06:00you would expect, to this one here. Although this one was in red, this one
06:03now is in white. The one also from the Over the Rainbow happened to have, you
06:08know, obviously the yellow brick road leading to the wizard. So there was
06:11obviously, while the stands have all remained the same shape and same
06:14placement of peg, one thing I do really like is that they've added a signature
06:17down below. Getting that all out. So looking at the defaulted head sculpt when we get for
06:22Elvira, getting out of the packaging, brand new head, brand new head, obviously
06:26brand new expression. She has much wider eyes, too. She also has now the bandana
06:30that wasn't present on either of the other three other releases of her. Now, if
06:35you did want to change out the face, even though this is gonna be the head I'm
06:37gonna stick with, displaying her on the shelf, all you basically have to do is
06:40get your finger in there. You don't have to make the noise while you're doing it.
06:43And just pry the face off. Take the new face that you want to use, kind of tuck
06:48it up in there, and then plug it in place. That's all that's really required. Now,
06:53with that idea in mind, if we bring in, say, the Over Rainbow release of her, I'm
06:57just gonna put Elvira down here for a second. Theoretically, as well, you could
07:00take the face off this one. We're face swapping now, all of a sudden. Take the face off
07:04that one, and because, again, it's using the exact same head, you can just plug it
07:08in place. Now, you have that head with this head sculpt. Now, it doesn't work
07:11with the other two Elviras unless you were to go the route of popping off the
07:14head entirely, because with both the original release of her and the Scary
07:18Xmas, she had dedicated heads with each new expression. So, in order, obviously, to
07:22start incorporating face plates swapping, where's John Travolta when we need him?
07:26You would have to, obviously, take off the entire head. You'd be able to put it
07:30then on the Elvira Mistress of the Dark release, and then just swap out the face
07:33plates that way. I'm sure this will all lead, eventually, to the ultimate release
07:37of Elvira that's probably gonna have all these other face plates that we've already
07:40had a look at, and maybe she's gonna come included with just the
07:42default black dress. So, let's go ahead and just take this off, because that face
07:46doesn't belong to her. I want to make sure I've got the right face on her. Now,
07:49again, obviously, you could use this face, too, with that release of her, but for me,
07:53at least, I really would like to stick with probably the two that she comes
07:56included with out of the packaging. So, while this head sculpt is okay, I still
08:00would have preferred to go with the bee-line-it-back to the
08:05original head sculpt. I think that's the better of the two faces. So, again, let's
08:09go ahead and just pry that off. Go ahead and take the new head. And, again, you
08:13basically just have two holes right here. You've got two pegs. Simple shapes, guys.
08:16Simple shapes. And just tuck it underneath the headband, and make sure
08:20it's securely plugged in place. For the rest of her outfit, while it still is
08:24black like the original release of her... Oh, where'd the dagger go? The dagger's right
08:28over here. While it is, though, the original dress for Elvira, you can see
08:32that a lot of it gets ripped away. So, the sleeves are gone in this case. One sleeve
08:36is completely ripped in half. This sleeve right here is ripped in half. This one
08:39completely taken off by the shoulder. Down below, as well, she now doesn't have
08:43as much of the length of the dress. And what she does have instead now is runs
08:46in her stockings. I think it's cool the fact that they even incorporate something
08:50like that. And while it doesn't look like it's been sculpted into the legs, painting
08:54it well enough as they have, it does look like they actually got runs in her
08:57pantyhose. Other than that, it looks to be the case that they use in the exact
09:01same body. Exact same body. Same arms. Possibly, potentially, the exact same legs.
09:06The only thing that's different, though, is the different kinds of hands that
09:09they've given her. Although this hand here looks to be the exact same. For the
09:13figure's articulation, Commando Elvira does, in fact, have a ball joint. Now, with
09:18her hair obviously coming down in the front here and in the back, it's gonna
09:21render some lack of mobility. You could still rotate, sure, the head back and
09:26forth. You can move it up and down and you can rock it back and forth just a
09:29little bit. Sorry, excuse me. She has an upper torso ball joint. It
09:33isn't actually really so much a ball joint. I mean, it does rotate back and forth, but
09:36it seems to rotate more down below in the waist. And then it moves up and down
09:39here. Almost, well, I guess it is still a ball joint. What am I talking about here?
09:42My mind is wandering. The arms do hinge out, yes, in fact, at a T-pose. As though a
09:48side note, one thing I do really like, and I'm so sorry to draw such attention to
09:52this, is that they've also added some dirt, like camouflage. I would imagine
09:56it's basically dirt and debris all across the front of her torso. She does
10:00also now have a tattoo splattered on the side of her arm, something also that's
10:04unique to this figure. And, of course, she does have bracelets there. Now, the other
10:07Elviras, if we look at this figure, for example, she did have, if I just move the
10:11sleeve out of the way, get the sleeve out of the way, she does also have the same
10:14bracelets. So it looks like they are using, yeah, the same accessories. Oh, maybe
10:17not. Maybe not. It is a little bit of a different bracelet on this one than this
10:21one here. As for the mobility in her legs down below, the legs do split out.
10:25They creak, they squeak, but she does do a full split if she wants. You can take
10:30the legs, move forward, you can move them back. Mild swivel there at the top of the
10:34thigh, single hinge only in the knee, and then she does have, of course, the ankle
10:37pivot. Not really much in the way of an ankle rocker. And, of course, ever crucial,
10:41ever crucial, the figure does have peggles on the undersides of her feet.
10:45Plugging her back onto the display stand, just like that. Yeah, I really like to
10:50look at this Elvira. You know, the thing I really like also about this one, too, is
10:53it isn't just a case like they took essentially the same outfit as this one,
10:57just a different head face plate, and they called it, you know, Commander Elvira. I
11:01mean, obviously the way that she looks in the movie during this scene, she can't
11:04just wear the simple regular dress that she wears normally. I do like that the
11:08dress looks tattered, it looks torn, and she does also come included with some
11:12packed heat. I like the look of the bazooka quite a lot as well. In the end, it's well
11:17worth picking up if you're a big fan of Elvira. Not just, though, for the
11:20accessories that she comes included with, like, for example, you know, Aunt Morgana's
11:24spell book. I do like the fact they included that. But the fact that it's a
11:27bazooka, the fact that also we're moving forward with Elvira figures, taking
11:31again some pages that they did initially with the Over the Rainbow release of her,
11:34and now incorporating face plates. Not only from a cost-saving standpoint, it's
11:38so much easier for them just to mold just faces rather than entire heads all
11:42alone, but also, too, it makes things a whole lot easier as a collector. Instead
11:46of having to worry all the time about popping a head off a ball joint and
11:49forcing and fighting with that, it's so much easier, really, to replace a face
11:54plate. Because all that's really required on your part, there's pegs on the back of
11:57that. Just attach the face that you don't want anymore and replace it with the one
12:01that you do. With every subsequent release of Elvira, there's another reason
12:04why to pick up that figure. With one of the big changes made, really, to the Over
12:08the Rainbow release of her, where they started to incorporate face plates, that
12:11trend now gets carried over to the Commander release of her as well. If you
12:14wanted just to stick to a regular outfit on Elvira, probably between this
12:18one and the original version that we got from NECA would be your best options. If
12:22you're, though, a die-hard fan of Elvira and would like just to collect
12:25everything, then, yeah, the Scurry Xmas and probably the Over the Rainbow would be
12:29then your options to pick up, totaling, I think, a figure count of four. Of this one,
12:33though, and the Elvira, the first one that we looked at, these are probably still my
12:36two favorites, just because, again, like the black clad mistress of the dark
12:39doesn't look any bit better than what we're getting here with this release. One
12:43thing I do really like is that we get a brand new head sculpt, now with a bandana
12:46with her beehive, and she also comes included with a bazooka. Beehive! That's
12:50another word that started with B. Couldn't think of another B word. All in all,
12:55though, I really do like the look of this Elvira. Well worth picking up, though,
12:58certainly if you're a fan of not only the character, but also the film as well.
13:01What do you guys think of Commando Elvira? Let me know down below in the
13:05comment section. Have you had the chance to pick this one up? Or, if you have been
13:08collecting any of the Elviras, is this one that you still haven't gotten, but is
13:11definitely on your radar? I certainly hope, though, this channel is on your
13:15radar. If you did, of course, enjoy this video, you could do it a solid and throw
13:18it a like. You guys want to stick around for more, so I hope so. Hit that
13:21subscribe, turn on that Bell, and of course, come back. As always, thanks for
13:24watching. See you guys next time!
