00:00Well, the Eye of Dumballa certainly hasn't stunted this good guy's growth.
00:03Here's your look at the brand new NECA toys, Bride of Chucky, Chucky 10-inch, NECA store, site exclusive.
00:20Say hello to your friend Tillian from the horror comedy film Bride of Chucky.
00:24The world's most notorious doll is back on the rampage, but this time he's met his match.
00:28His old flame Tiffany, this 10-inch tall Chucky action figure from NECA, features 7 points of articulation,
00:34and wears authentic, tailored, soft goods clothing, recreated from his on-screen appearance.
00:39Comes in replica packaging in the infamous good guy's box.
00:42If you don't have the money to spend, but you want a friend till the end,
00:45the Bride of Chucky 10-inch scale figure is only available right now at NECA's site for $69.99.
00:51That may seem still high for some, but when you think, though, that the Bride of Chucky 1-to-1 scale replica is selling for about $400,
00:57I have a space for that. I don't have the budget, though, considering that would also be in U.S. dollars
01:02and all the conversion stuff that would go along with that.
01:05That figure probably would then end up sending me back close to around $800.
01:08I can't justify that. I could certainly, though, justify a figure that's going for $70.
01:12And as for its height, like its description says, Chucky is literally going to stand at 10 inches in height,
01:18or working out to be about 25.5 centimeters tall.
01:21Still finding it hard to gauge just how tall 10 inches are?
01:23That's okay. We can go ahead and bring in for an example.
01:25Here's what the figure looks like with the RetroCloth Bride of Chucky Chucky.
01:29And even still, slightly smaller, here's also what the figure looks like with the Ultimate Bride of Chucky Chucky.
01:34How many times have so far I've said Chucky?
01:36From a size standpoint, I mean, if you're looking at this guy and you're looking at the much taller one next to him,
01:40he's probably, what, like two and a half times the size, and he's probably, like, what, like four times almost as the Ultimate release?
01:45Here's also what the figure looks like with one that actually has rooted doll hair,
01:49the RetroCloth Regular Chucky as well.
01:52So, yeah, while not having any accessories whatsoever, the thing that benefits at least this figure is his size.
01:57I do think, also, it happens to land one of the better-looking likenesses we've gotten as well for Chucky, too.
02:03Picking, though, up the figure, one of the things I will say, too, is that he's pretty limited in articulation.
02:07Although it's funny that the read-up on NECA's site actually claimed that this guy only has seven points of articulation,
02:12when this guy actually counts nine.
02:14Before we actually kind of tally up all the points of posability, let's look at the figure's face.
02:18Next, I would say, honestly, it's probably one of the best, if not the best, head sculpts of Chucky we've ever gotten.
02:24Now, I say that not having and owning the Bride of Chucky one-to-one scale figure,
02:28which, again, is a good figure if you have the chance to pick that one up.
02:31I just don't have the money. I don't have the money. I don't have that kind of money to buy.
02:35Let's bring in, though, the RetroCloth Release so you guys can see the differences there.
02:39I mean, like, from a head sculpt standpoint, this guy also, unfortunately, has to have molded hair,
02:44and we're going to talk a little bit more about that in a moment.
02:46But from a head sculpt standpoint, yeah, I don't think it's any bit better than what we're getting here with the 10-inch release of him.
02:51Let's also bring in the Ultimate figure so you guys can see.
02:55I don't think my opinions change at all, really.
02:57It's interesting, though, to go on to NECA's site because, again, this guy is a site exclusive.
03:02I don't know if that means that maybe down the road we might actually get a retail release of this guy.
03:06But if that's not the case, I would probably recommend really picking this guy up before he sells out fast.
03:10As I did want to say, though, if you look on NECA's site and when they advertise with pictures of this guy,
03:16they do sort of suggest kind of him looking a little more ominous than what he's looking like right now.
03:21Clearly, what they've done is they've taken a light source, maybe shining it from the top corner like this,
03:25and illuminating down on Chucky's face, so it does cast some shadows around the areas of his eyes.
03:30It certainly does make him a little scarier than what we're getting here.
03:33He doesn't have as much the dark colors around his areas of his eyes like he does in the images,
03:37but I think it's still a pretty good, if not the best, head sculpt we've ever gotten from NECA's team.
03:42Of course, you do have some nice staples there on the side.
03:44These are sculpted in, too, as well.
03:46If you run your finger along the, as you can see there, the creases and the scarring here,
03:51these actually are sculpted in.
03:52They're not just painted in place.
03:54Of course, he does have the crazier-looking eye on the one side, less crazy,
03:58although it's still pretty crazy.
03:59Who are we talking about?
04:00The head sculpt, though, again, it's really good.
04:02I love that they've added these little rouged areas around the areas of his cheeks.
04:05Of course, they have darkened areas around his eyes,
04:07and even, like, the scarring, I hope that you can actually see this,
04:10they have darkened areas just around, like, where those lines of the scars actually are.
04:15Of course, on the side of his head, he does also have some visible metal areas of his head
04:19showing underneath the skin.
04:20Tiffany's done her best to kind of patch together, well, I mean, she,
04:23I don't know how she really was able to sew and patch back together Chucky,
04:27considering the state that he was in at the end of Chucky 3.
04:30Child's Play 3, though, is not a great movie,
04:32but it certainly does give us what looks to be a better-looking Chucky right after the film.
04:36Now, here's one thing about the figure, though,
04:38is unfortunately he doesn't have real rooted hair.
04:41The one-to-one scale certainly has that,
04:43but being that it's also asking a $400 price tag,
04:46I can probably understand why they chose not to root the hair.
04:49If you really then look at, like, the retro-cloth regular Chucky,
04:52with a crazy-looking look on his face,
04:54rooting hair like this, I would imagine, would be quite easy,
04:56because you're literally just taking a machine.
04:58Says the guy, who's never really rooted doll hair,
05:01I would imagine they just basically put the head underneath the machine like this,
05:04and the machine just basically goes,
05:06do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.
05:07What was that?
05:08Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.
05:09And basically just, like, roots all the hair on there.
05:11I mean, it's basically just row-to-row, row-to-row,
05:13until finally we get ourselves a finished hairstyle.
05:16With this Chucky, though, it's interesting enough
05:18that even, like, the retro-cloth version of Chucky never did that either.
05:21And yet, though, the regular Chucky did.
05:23I think it really has more to do with the fact
05:25that there's a lot more labor-intensive hours
05:27that had to be required in order to root the hair
05:29in the placement that it is here.
05:31I mean, it isn't just the case, though,
05:33that you can't just go, do-do-do-do-do.
05:35I mean, you have to,
05:35you would have had to staple individual strands of hair on the side.
05:38You would have had to place it in certain areas here.
05:41That to have this in rooted hair
05:43would have increased the cost of the figure.
05:45And it probably would have been closer to around $200.
05:47Because you have to think that labor,
05:49labor is the one thing that tacks onto the price of the figure's budget.
05:52So, instead, what they chose to do
05:54is that they just actually sculpted this all in plastic.
05:57It doesn't bother me all that much
05:59because, again, I know what would have been involved for that
06:00would have to do it by, you know, strand, by strand,
06:03by bunches of hair.
06:04Doing this by just only plastic
06:05makes a lot more sense from a budget standpoint.
06:08And certainly, I know a lot of collectors
06:09probably wouldn't have wanted to pay $150 to $200
06:12for a Chucky of a 10-inch size like this.
06:15One thing that's also kind of cool, too,
06:17about the head sculpt
06:17is if you also look in between, like, the strands,
06:20you can see there's some of his metal head
06:21peeking through, peeking through here as well.
06:25But one thing I will say, though, about the hair,
06:27it isn't quite, though, the color I was hoping.
06:29I was kind of thinking it would be more of a darker orange.
06:31It actually comes across a little bit more of a lighter orange.
06:34But I don't think there's anything else
06:35I would have done to the head sculpt alone.
06:38For the body, here's one thing.
06:40Because, again, he's going to be limited in articulation.
06:42Again, they tally up seven points.
06:44I actually counted nine.
06:45The figure is only to have very limited articulation
06:47when it comes to at least the shoulders and the legs.
06:49If you go in this kind of thinking as a good guy,
06:52good guys only really would have had a head swivel.
06:54They only would have had the arms that move forward and back
06:56and also the same for the legs.
06:57So for that, Chucky does exactly what Chucky needs to do.
07:00If you're hoping, though,
07:01that the figure would have had some additional poseability,
07:03keep in mind, as well, the size of the figure
07:05and the fact that they're actually using real clothing
07:06would have increased the price considerably.
07:10Before we actually talk about his articulation points,
07:12I did want to show you guys also, as well,
07:14his good guy coveralls.
07:15I like that it has the tear.
07:16As you can see, the cut starts right at the top.
07:19It slices right down there like a hot knife through butter.
07:23Buttons seem to be sewn on there as well.
07:25If I was to move this all away,
07:27you can actually see there's a good guy body underneath.
07:29I don't know, though,
07:30if they have any plans to use this body again.
07:32I mean, so far,
07:33Chucky is the only one that's being released
07:35in the 10-inch scale as a NECA exclusive.
07:37I don't know if his bride, Tiff,
07:39is going to get that same treatment.
07:40If she does,
07:41maybe it would be safe to say
07:42that they're probably going to be using the same body as well.
07:44But the coveralls look the part.
07:46So he's got some nice scarring there on the side of his hand.
07:48I like the striping of the sweater.
07:50It's very movie accurate.
07:51And speaking of like movie accurate,
07:52here's just what it looks like on the back of his body.
07:55Movie accurate wise, though,
07:56he certainly does also have the good guy's sole.
07:59So you can see when he's walking,
08:00what is it like walking through flower,
08:01leaving the good guy patches the soles underneath.
08:04Yeah, overall, like it's a good looking figure.
08:05They don't actually use real laces.
08:07I think very similar to the way they've done the hair.
08:10Using real laces would have just increased the cost.
08:12They've actually sculpted it instead.
08:14But you can actually see that they've printed on the laces.
08:17Nice done there.
08:18For the figure's articulation,
08:19going back to Chucky's head,
08:21the head is actually surprisingly a lot better of a movement
08:23than what you would probably think he would have.
08:25I expected the figure just to only have a swivel back and forth.
08:28I was pleased to see, though,
08:30the figure does actually have a ball joint.
08:32The ball joint is actually down here.
08:34It's not up here.
08:35So it keeps then the seamless head and the neck as one piece.
08:38The ball joint is actually down below here.
08:40So it allows the head to move up, down, back and forth.
08:43Yeah, you can actually get a bit of a nod there for Chucky.
08:45And technically, it does really rotate all the way around,
08:47although it's going to get a little more caught
08:48because of the length of his hair.
08:50Again, the limitations are more so here for the arms.
08:52If you're familiar with, like, the Mezco toys,
08:55Living Dead Dolls,
08:56Chucky would basically follow the same formula.
08:58His arms will only maybe only move forward and back.
09:01That's about it.
09:01You can't hinge them out.
09:02Don't try to hinge them out.
09:03They're only going to snap.
09:04You're going to cry.
09:06You're going to run up the stairs.
09:07But what he does also have, too,
09:09is that he has hand rotation just to kind of roll up the sleeves just here
09:12so you guys can see.
09:14The color move of the plastic is pretty close.
09:15The arm is a little bit of a different color,
09:17but really, the sleeves are going to cover that anyways.
09:19Yeah, the hands do rotate all the way around.
09:21Swivel only on the legs.
09:23There's no waist articulation.
09:24I don't think he really necessarily needs articulation in the waist.
09:27Legs only move forward and back.
09:28So I'm trying to kind of figure out, like,
09:30what was the part that Nick left off
09:31when it came to their posability points?
09:33Because, again, if you look at the head,
09:34that's one, two, three for the shoulders,
09:36four, five for the arms,
09:38and then six and seven for the legs.
09:41What maybe they left off, though,
09:42what the figure does also have ball joints in his feet.
09:44So you can move them up and down.
09:46You can also rock them back and forth as well.
09:49You know, again, like, for a figure that's $70,
09:51I think it's a good budget-friendly Chucky.
09:54In the sense, at least, though,
09:55if you guys want a taller representation of the good guy killer,
09:59at least he's not going to be the price of what he's asking for
10:01if you get the one-to-one scale.
10:02So, ideally, I mean, I would have loved to get
10:04the one-to-one scale Bride of Chucky,
10:06or even just a regular Chucky, for that matter.
10:08But for $400, that's $400 US.
10:11Then I'd have to kind of bring up my calculator.
10:12Do you still have a calculator?
10:13I do.
10:14A big, large one, by the way,
10:15that has a rolling bit of paper.
10:17If I was to kind of tally that all up,
10:19I'd be looking at $400,
10:20then converting that over to Canadian.
10:22I then would have to pay the additional shipping charges
10:25and the brokerage.
10:26I probably would be expecting to pay
10:27close to anywhere from $600 to $800
10:29to get a one-to-one scale Chucky.
10:31This, at least, I say budget-friendly Chucky.
10:34For a $70 figure, you're getting a really good likeness.
10:37I still feel it's one of the best likenesses,
10:39if not the best likeness, we have gotten for the Chuckster.
10:42Especially, though, when you compare him with the retro cloth,
10:44you compare him with, like, the ultimate figure,
10:46or, again, like, if you want to beeline it back
10:48to the one that actually had the rooted hair.
10:50It's definitely one of the best Chucky's around.
10:52Yes, unfortunately, though, because he's...
10:54Because they spend, I feel, so much time
10:56going into the head sculpt,
10:57giving him the tailored clothing,
10:59it means, though, that he has to sacrifice
11:00some things, like he doesn't have any
11:02accessories, for example.
11:04And then you kind of think to yourself,
11:05well, if they gave him accessories,
11:06they would have to have changed the hands,
11:07because obviously relaxed hands
11:08wouldn't do the job at all
11:10for holding any accessories for him to wield.
11:12Instead, they gave him relaxed hands,
11:13so it sort of rules out the idea
11:15of giving him, like, a knife, a hammer,
11:17anything that you would expect
11:18a good guy to have.
11:19For that, though, it means still
11:21for $69.99, which, again,
11:23is only as a site exclusive.
11:25From what I, at least I understand,
11:26I don't think they're going to be
11:27planning to release this guy
11:28on a retail level.
11:30He's only available as of right now
11:32on NECA site.
11:32I don't know how long the listing will last
11:34and how long the stock will last.
11:36But if you want a good-sized Chucky
11:37that's not the full size
11:39of a one-to-one scale,
11:40perhaps maybe venture over to their site
11:42and pick up the 10-inch instead.
11:43When you look at a Chucky like this,
11:45you can certainly see a lot of time
11:46went into sculpting the figure.
11:48But being that he's also a $70 figure,
11:50you can also see
11:51not where shortcuts were made,
11:53but where budgets were cut.
11:54Like the figure doesn't have,
11:56for example, any accessories.
11:57He doesn't have additional posability.
11:59That might turn off, though,
12:00some collectors that are more familiar
12:02with NECA having super posability
12:04in, obviously, like the shoulders
12:06and in the legs.
12:07The figure not having that, for example,
12:09he falls more closer
12:10to the kind of territory
12:10that we were getting
12:11with the Living Dead dolls,
12:12where you only get swivels
12:13back and forth in the arms,
12:15and you only get the same
12:16also in the legs.
12:16I feel like, again,
12:18if you're displaying this guy
12:19on the shelf,
12:20super poseable Chucky
12:21isn't not necessarily something
12:22that every collector really needs.
12:24In the end, though,
12:25you want a figure
12:25that's going to go on the shelf
12:26and he's going to look the part.
12:28He's going to look like the killer.
12:29And I think this one
12:30does the part a lot nicer
12:32than both the Retro Cloth
12:33and the Ultimate.
12:34It's not to cast necessarily
12:35a shadow on the Ultimate
12:36or the Retro, for that matter.
12:38I like both figures
12:39of Chucky in my collection.
12:40But I think that this one
12:41is a nice bridging gap
12:43between getting and collecting
12:44the smaller scale figures
12:45and then having the $400 or so
12:48to get the one-to-one scale.
12:49I don't have that kind of budget.
12:50I like that they then released
12:52a figure that kind of
12:53caters to collectors
12:53that don't have a budget
12:55like that to spend
12:55on a one-to-one scale Chucky,
12:57but still want one
12:58that's movie accurate.
12:59As I did say, though,
13:00a couple of times
13:01in this review,
13:01this one is only an exclusive
13:03to NECA's store.
13:04As of right now,
13:05at least at the time
13:06of doing this video,
13:07he's still selling for $69.99.
13:09He's still available.
13:09You can also pay
13:10four interest-free installments
13:12of around $17.50.
13:15If you guys, again,
13:16are interested,
13:16you can head on over
13:17to NECA's site.
13:18Let me know if you've had
13:19the chance to pick this one up
13:20or even better,
13:21if you have the chance
13:22to also pick up
13:22the one-to-one scale Chucky's
13:24and what you think of those.
13:25If you guys did enjoy this video,
13:26do it a solid and throw it a like.
13:28You guys want to stick around
13:29for more so?
13:30Yeah, yeah, I hope so.
13:31Hit that subscribe,
13:32turn on that bell,
13:33and of course, come back.
13:34As always, thanks for watching.
13:36See you guys next time.
