00:00 "Hey there, in this video I'm gonna cover tables
00:03 and how to edit them."
00:05 So, since Keynote doesn't allow to create default tables
00:10 in themes and templates,
00:14 it can get a bit tricky to insert a table
00:16 and stay on brand with it.
00:18 Because naturally we would tend to go to table and add one,
00:21 but as you can see if we add one,
00:23 it looks really bland and not on brand.
00:26 And we do not want this.
00:27 So, instead we encourage you to go to our presentation kit.
00:32 If you do not have it yet,
00:34 please go download it on our branding guideline website.
00:38 And from here you can go in the visual element section,
00:42 and then on page 28 you're gonna see
00:43 a full table ready to use.
00:45 We want to start with this at all time.
00:48 So, to use it, you just have to copy it into your own file.
00:53 So you click it once, you click it twice,
00:56 you take the handle and you bring it all the way across,
00:59 and then you copy it by right clicking,
01:02 then going back to your file, and then pasty paste.
01:07 There you go, you have a full table ready to use.
01:09 It's a really good baseline to start with
01:12 because it contains all the different variation
01:14 of text and color applied to a table
01:17 that you're gonna need.
01:19 So, what if I want to change the structure?
01:22 I don't want that many rows, or maybe I want to add one.
01:25 So what do I do?
01:27 You need to click your table once,
01:29 then you're gonna see each rows are numbers
01:31 and each column are lettered.
01:33 So, let's say I want to add a column between B and C.
01:37 What I can do is click the little arrow next to B,
01:41 and then I can either delete a column,
01:44 add a column before, and in my case, add a column after.
01:48 So then I click, and there you have it.
01:51 As you can see, the table size doesn't change
01:53 when I'm adding a column.
01:55 It's so that it doesn't change too much
01:58 the layout of your page.
01:59 But if you need to change its size,
02:01 you just need to click the little handle in the corner
02:04 and make it the size you want.
02:06 It will always stay proportionate,
02:08 and we highly encourage you to keep it so,
02:10 but if you need to change some column width or whatever,
02:14 you just need to click the little line in between rows
02:16 and move it around like this.
02:18 All of this apply as well for rows.
02:23 If you need to customize your table
02:27 with other colors, let's say,
02:29 when it comes to text, it's pretty easy.
02:32 It's just like a text box.
02:33 So you click it once, then you highlight it,
02:36 and then when you're going to go in Format and Text,
02:40 you're going to be able to change your color
02:42 by clicking the little wheel here
02:44 and inserting the right color.
02:47 Like if you go here,
02:48 you can copy-paste the right color code.
02:51 All of them are included in the presentation kit,
02:54 so I won't cover that for now,
02:56 but you're going to be able to write your code.
02:58 For me, I already saved them in the file,
03:00 so I'm just going to show you,
03:01 but you could use green or orange,
03:04 but in my case, I'm going to stay on pink
03:06 because my chapter is pink.
03:08 If you want to customize the cells
03:12 by adding colors or emphasis like this,
03:15 all you have to do is select one cell
03:17 or multiple cells like this.
03:20 Then you can go to Format, Cell,
03:23 and from here, you can change the color
03:26 by clicking the little color wheel just right here.
03:29 To do so, you can, again,
03:32 enter the color code that fits your chapter.
03:34 In my case, it is pink, so let's say I'm putting pink.
03:37 As you can see, it is full-on pink.
03:40 We do not want this.
03:41 For highlighting rows like this and creating bended rows,
03:45 we want to keep it really light,
03:47 so we're going to put a little 10% opacity,
03:50 and that is it.
03:52 It's going to make something really smooth and easy to read.
03:55 And if you want to add other emphasis
03:57 such as cells emphasis like this,
03:59 all you have to do is select your row,
04:02 let's say the whole row like this.
04:05 Then you can go to Format, Cell,
04:07 and here you can select the border you want.
04:09 In this case, we selected the full outline, all the sides,
04:13 and then three points for the thickness of the line,
04:18 and then we chose our color.
04:21 You just have to choose a color that fits your chapter,
04:25 and that is it.
04:27 After, you can, of course, put emphasis on some text
04:29 by making it bold or a bit bigger and colored,
04:33 but the important thing you need to remember
04:36 is to keep this hierarchy of emphasis.
04:39 So even if you create a new emphasis here,
04:44 keep it the same size as everywhere else,
04:46 whether you make it big and colored or simply bold.
04:49 This way, everything is going to look nice and sharp.
