00:00 Skeletor would have won the battle if it wasn't for those boobs.
00:04 here's your look at the brand-new Mattel Bohemian and the Master Universe 80s
00:07 Adventure cartoon collection Skeletor
00:11 with the Master Universe cartoon collection the magic of the 1980s
00:27 childhood is back inspired by the Master Universe cartoon series in the
00:31 toy line from the 80s this line features key characters designed with a
00:34 nostalgic look built at 5.5 inches in scale with 16 points of articulation for
00:40 great battle moves and poses they come with one accessory and a themed mini
00:43 comic while Skeletor trades spaces with a couple of ancient faces let's grab the
00:48 tape measure and see how tall the new cartoon collection Skeletor stands
00:51 normally I would have said you'd find these in stores but good luck good luck
00:56 as being a Canadian collector even finding these in the wild you may
00:59 yourself have had better luck to find these but they are available right now
01:02 in stores or online cartoon collection Skeletor though from the Filmation
01:06 series stands six inches in height or the figures gonna be about 15 centimeters
01:10 tall having looked at He-Man let's bring the figure in now for comparisons now
01:14 normally with origins figures they've been using the same body again and again
01:18 while these are unique to their cartoon collections you can see at least that
01:21 Skeletor is using the same body as the He-Man and probably will be consistent
01:25 across the board as well bring in also a couple of Skeletors without banging the
01:29 camera here's what the original Skeletor version 1 Skeletor look like
01:32 along with the cartoon collection Skeletor that yes different bodies these
01:36 older origins bodies not that they're older origins bodies they're still using
01:39 the bodies to this day aren't gonna be the same ones that using for the
01:42 Filmation series inspired figures and also there's version 2 Skeletor if you
01:46 weren't a fan of version 1 Skeletor who really was then there was also version 2
01:50 but again while they're using the same bodies He-Man and Skeletor though from
01:54 the cartoon collection are you sharing the exact same unique bodies but the
01:58 things that they do share the mini comic isn't one of them what comes included
02:01 though with Skeletor is Wizards Vizard it's completely different though than
02:05 the mini comic I just assumed was gonna be released with all the entire wave
02:07 Mask of the Magi was the one that came in clue with He-Man Skeletors though
02:12 Wizards Vizard actually does feature both the prominent characters of
02:15 Skeletor and He-Man on the front flip though through the pages it does then
02:19 make reference to the masks seen in the episode masks of power so it's gonna be
02:24 completely different now again we have of course the cameos from Man-at-Arms
02:27 because he's gonna be part of this wave if we flip still through the rest of the
02:30 comics there's not really many other appearances other than just some royal
02:33 guards in the background so they're kind of keeping it more to the characters
02:36 that are advertised at least from this first wave those characters by the way
02:40 from the first wave are He-Man Beast-Man Man-at-Arms and Skeletor gonna move that
02:44 off to the side Skeletor also comes in clue with a right away thrown to the
02:48 recycling bin pamphlet of paper the paper only just to tell us that you can
02:52 take the arms off and remove the head from Skeletor you can also remove his
02:56 lower half and his boots you can then mix them match them with other Mass
03:00 Universe origins bodies or other masses in universe a cartoon collection figures
03:04 you could probably swap these arms out and use them then with the origins body
03:07 but it might look a little out of place though this this will be like He-Man's
03:11 gonna go right into the recycling bin Skeletor also comes in clue with his
03:15 Havok staff and power sword I guess maybe we'll look at the power sword
03:18 first as it's one that's also shared with He-Man it's just making some noise
03:22 off to the side let's bring in the one that came in clue with He-Man they are
03:25 identical to one another obviously just cast in different plastic colors this
03:28 one's nicely done in a sort of a lilac purple the one down below is a little
03:31 more shinier in a metallic silver the holstered swords will holster only on
03:36 He-Man if you look at actually Skeletor he doesn't have a holster on the back
03:39 the figures body there's really no place quarters I guess you could kind of slide
03:43 it down in his armor but I mean that would probably pull pressure against the
03:46 peg I probably detach the armor so I'm not gonna do that what he can at least
03:49 though is he has the means to hold in both of his hands Skeletor though kind
03:54 of like He-Man we're just gonna bring back in the version one Skeletor with
03:57 the ugly head sculpt did have more the monster hand and then he had the gripping
04:00 hand only on one side so he only would have had the means to hold a power sword
04:03 or the Havok staff he wouldn't have been able to do both Skeletor cackles to
04:07 himself he can actually wield himself both the power sword and the Havok staff
04:12 and again I do really like the fact they included even though really I don't
04:16 think do we ever really see the power sword in the episode of somebody who's
04:20 much more akin to the much more familiar with the Master Universe cartoon from
04:24 the Filmation days probably could tell me if the actual purple power sword
04:27 ever makes the appearance but I'm glad still that they include it anyways and
04:30 move that off to the side the figure also comes included as trademark Havok
04:34 staff one thing I like about the Havok staff is they simply just didn't take
04:38 the original Havok staff this was from the origins line and just color it
04:41 accordingly to the cartoon in fact the actual head sculpt the ram head is
04:45 completely different from the original origins Havok staff and even like the
04:48 the actual staff itself is very different so they had to tool a brand
04:52 new staff for Skeletor this time around and like I said you can take him now
04:56 because he has gripping hands on both sides he can actually wield the Havok
04:59 staff in one side oh let's not drop it we'll the Havok staff in one side and
05:03 then you can take yourself the Skeletor version of the power sword and yes in
05:07 fact gripping in his other hand so he can actually wield both that isn't the
05:11 end of his accessories though Skeletor also comes in clue with the masks of
05:14 power featured in the episode of the same name just get the figure to stay
05:18 in here for a second you get actually two versions of the masks of power one
05:23 is kind of more the stretched off triangular face mask and then the other
05:26 one is the more elongated masks both cast here in a kind of a yellow plastic
05:31 there's a little bit of marbling you can probably see there at the top but other
05:34 than that like nice-looking masks these don't just serve as purposes as
05:38 placeholders on either side of Skeletor in fact if you look at the bottom of
05:41 them they also have peg holes so you can take Skeletor's existing head and
05:45 yank it off his head and then to replace it then with the masks of power now he
05:49 has this one which we did start the reviews with or if you wanted to just
05:53 pop that off the ball joint and then replace it then with this head sculpt
05:57 neither one of these by the way if I have it facing the right way neither one
06:01 of these will be making an appearance on Skeletor's body when the review is
06:05 wrapped up I might just end up displaying these maybe behind Skeletor
06:08 on the shelf maybe get myself like a little standee or something where I can
06:11 actually prop up the masks they don't have to necessarily serve the purpose of
06:15 being on the shoulders of Skeletor I mean hey why not just you know again
06:18 have them displayed along with the figure so just take those off there we
06:22 go put them to the side we'll put back on Skeletor's more trademark face I will
06:26 say right away the one thing I'm kind of pulled back a bit by loving this figure
06:29 is the head sculpt it looks good from the side I mean it looks actually a
06:33 little bit better on this side than it does the other side but I don't know
06:36 something's lacking it when you're looking at from the front I don't think
06:39 it's just the coloring alone because I think from a color standpoint it looks a
06:42 lot like Skeletor where was that pamphlet paper I just finished talking
06:46 about throwing it away was this a pamphlet paper I'm just gonna put this
06:48 down here for a second why we spending so much time yeah there we go this is a
06:52 better almost even looking at head sculpt than what we get for Skeletor it
06:55 might just be the fact that's actually black and white I think the colors look
06:58 good they also go with a much more lighter skull face more closer to what
07:02 he would have had for the cartoon maybe my big problem with it is the fact that
07:05 the face is very further forward I almost feel like the little bit the hood
07:10 should be sticking out a little bit or have like the face a little bit more
07:13 recessed also it doesn't help either the fact that they didn't add very little in
07:16 the way of paint sure they added to the eyes they add to the nasal cavity and
07:20 sides of the face but I think they could have also added just a little bit around
07:23 the teeth maybe that's my big problem with it isn't so much the fact it looks
07:27 a little swollen but I think it's more just the idea that they didn't paint the
07:30 teeth if they had painted the teeth I think it would have arrived with a much
07:34 better head sculpt than what we get right now it's okay but I think it just
07:38 was a few notches away from being a better looking head sculpt for Skeletor
07:41 and certainly goes for the rest of the figures body bringing back in the
07:44 version 1 I'm sorry I bring back in version 1 Skeletor different bodies all
07:48 together I mean again like if you're looking at the arms one thing they even
07:51 did away with all together was little fins that he has on his arms because I
07:53 don't even think he has in the cartoon either he has much more closer the body
07:57 of He-Man but you can see like the arms are different the legs are very very
07:59 much more muscular on the newer Skeletor and also like the violet purples were
08:03 really well in this figure the darker purples worked very well for the figure
08:07 that we got for the origins line but yeah there's something to be said about
08:09 the violet purple the lilac purple that works really well with the blue that
08:13 they went with as well again I don't know if I'm arriving at thinking that
08:16 the head sculpt is perfect I think there's definitely rooms for improvement
08:20 when it comes to the head the rest of the figures body that was fantastic using
08:23 still again like the He-Man body that we're just gonna bring back in He-Man
08:26 from before the torso is gonna be the same the arms are the same the lower
08:29 legs are the same the only thing that's done differently is that the boots they
08:33 would have just changed up the boots he wouldn't have had not you wouldn't have
08:35 had the monster feet like Skeletor would have originally had so there's the
08:38 original Skeletor from the origins instead Skeletor from the Filmation
08:42 series would have had just your traditional boots and they do that
08:45 really nicely here also in the figure then of course he has the peg holes and
08:48 underside of his feet if you lift up though the armor that he has what he
08:51 actually has underneath is basically just He-Man's you know his lower trunks
08:55 like a little loincloth that you would have had they just basically put the
08:58 plastic armor piece over top of it yeah it's good as a Skeletor but I feel like
09:03 there's just a little bit of room for improvement when it comes maybe again
09:06 it's just the teeth if they had painted the teeth maybe I would have just thought
09:09 the figure looked a lot better but I feel like it's maybe just a little too
09:12 swollen it looks a little puffier in the face again maybe it's just just the fact
09:16 they need to add a little bit of teeth a little bit of outlining to the teeth to
09:19 arrive on a much better looking Skeletor's head sculpt for the figures
09:24 articulation it's gonna retain all the same as the as the He-Man we looked at
09:27 before so again his head's gonna rotate on a ball joint rotates all the way
09:30 around looks up and down and back and forth and all that fun stuff the arms do
09:34 come out 90 degrees now the arms are gonna be a little harder of course just
09:38 because he has little parts that stick out the sides of his shoulder armor but
09:41 yeah you can still rotate the arms all the way around the figure does have a
09:44 swivel in his well I wouldn't normally have said his bicep but his biceps
09:47 actually part of his shoulder he swivels instead at the at the elbow area and
09:51 that also elbow serves as a hinge joint so if you wanted to also have them in
09:55 more the traditional vintage pose just bend the arms I know we did this already
09:58 with He-Man bend the legs there we go and now you can have Skeletor sort of
10:03 being more again vintage not my thing not my jam I prefer to have the legs
10:08 straight myself the figures are waist it does swivel back and forth the legs do
10:12 split out easily and they're on ball joints you can take the legs and move
10:15 them forward and back there's a little bit of a swivel not by much though
10:18 little swivel on the lower legs again I don't know what it is about this leg
10:22 He-Man had it Skeletor has it I hope it's not a continued trend when we look
10:27 at Beastman and Man-at-Arms that this knee is okay but this knee is just a
10:31 little on the looser side it does swivel back and forth though he does have a
10:34 neat single knee hinge and then again he has the articulation up and down on the
10:39 ankle and again you can rock it back and forth as well you know again I would
10:42 have loved to have said like this is a perfect looking Skeletor it's close it's
10:45 close but it's just not quite hitting it where the marks I think should be
10:50 hitting it maybe it again has something to do with the way they just lacked of
10:53 the lacking of paint maybe on the teeth is where I feel the figure is lacking
10:57 the most bringing back in He-Man again I like the fact that we are getting
11:01 ourselves cartoon counterparts of both again He-Man and Skeletor and then
11:05 bringing back in version 1 Skeletor you know again one of the things I did
11:09 mention the review of He-Man I'll reiterate it here when we look at
11:12 Skeletor is yes they aren't using the same body so it does make them as a
11:15 result both Skeletor and He-Man taller than the other origins figures I still
11:19 have plans to have the figures displayed uniquely or dedicatedly
11:24 displayed on their own I'm not gonna really have the cartoon characters of
11:28 Skeletor or really any of the characters from the new filmation series I'm not
11:31 gonna have them displayed with the rest of my origins figures those origins
11:33 figures have their place on my collection shelf they're all the ones
11:36 inspired by the original 80s toy line these are based on the original 80s
11:39 cartoon normally again I would have said like the height difference is a big
11:43 problem they really should have made the figures all the same size for my own
11:47 personal experience of the way I'm gonna be displaying the figures just to have
11:50 them on their own I'm not gonna be bothered at all by the fact that they're
11:53 just a tad bit taller than stuff we're getting with origins wrapping up now the
11:57 review for the cartoon collection Skeletor I've got the figure displayed
12:00 with Havok staff the Havok staff I don't think is correct to the cartoon if
12:03 memory serves me correctly and it doesn't always I think the Havok staff
12:07 handle was actually pink instead of purple this may have had something to do
12:10 with Mattel just using cost savings of actually molding it in the same purple
12:13 plastic as the rest of his armor but I don't think it's right I think it
12:16 should have been pink instead of purple it's not a big deal-breaker
12:19 unfortunately though one thing that isn't necessarily a deal-breaker but
12:22 this does bother me about Skeletor is the way they've molded his face I keep
12:25 looking at it and thinking that something is off it isn't just the fact
12:29 that they didn't decide to paint the teeth I mean I could go in there and
12:31 try to do that with a panel lining marker but I think also his hood his
12:35 hood should stick further forward than what it is the the skull face that he
12:39 has shouldn't be lined up perfectly I feel to the hood and maybe that's the
12:43 thing that's throwing him off a little bit he looks good from the side he's a
12:46 good-looking head sculpt of Skeletor but it's not perfect it's just missing just
12:51 a little few of those extra details that would make this or land this to be a
12:54 perfect-looking Skeletor do you agree guys with that or disagree do you think
12:58 it's a good-looking Skeletor head or do you feel like like what I said it's just
13:02 a little bit off let me know if you guys have also been collecting the end of the
13:06 cartoon collection figures now we're down to we still have like yet to look
13:09 at Man-at-arms and Beastman I think we'll probably look at Beastman next
13:12 Beastman surprisingly enough is the one I think looks the most like the cartoon
13:16 and I can't wait to break that one open so we might end up looking at that one
13:19 next the key to of course making sure that you're not missing out on any of
13:22 this is that first if you guys did enjoy the video throw it a like but if you
13:25 guys want to stick around for the reviews of the Man-at-arms and the
13:28 Beastman if you haven't already done so make sure you hit that subscribe button
13:31 down below and you're turning on the bell notification as always guys thanks
13:34 for watching see you guys next time
