00:00Eternia needed a hero, and a hero needed an armor.
00:05Here's a look at the Mattel Creations Master Universe Masterverse Vykron.
00:30From Eternia's past comes a legendary champion from the Gladiator Arena, Vykron.
00:35He took on all challenges, no matter the foe or terrain.
00:38After each victory, Vykron would claim the armor and weapons of his opponents.
00:42He would then take the time to master each weapon and their battle techniques,
00:45becoming a one-man arsenal in the ring.
00:48Sometimes, you gotta bore those parts in order to become part of pop culture history.
00:52Just before we get a closer look, though, at the Mattel Creations Master Universe Masterverse Vykron,
00:57we've got the tape measure, and it's gonna tell us shortly, though, how tall this figure's gonna stand.
01:02This is a rather interesting release by Mattel,
01:04because it's loosely based on Roger Sweet's original prototype figures for the Master Universe line.
01:09He had created three characters.
01:11One was a viking that we're starting the review with, one that had a tank head,
01:15and one that was loosely based on a bounty hunter from Star Wars.
01:19Each one of the figures, by the way, are gonna be using this as the base body,
01:22and then we're just gonna be adding the parts over top of it.
01:24Based on that, though, the figure's gonna stand about 7 1⁄4 inches in height,
01:28or Vykron is gonna stand at 18 1⁄2 centimeters tall.
01:33And while this body's gonna be shared around for his other two looks, that doesn't sound too right.
01:38It happens, though, to be sharing the same body as the Battle Armor He-Man.
01:41Although, you can see, complexion-wise, Vykron looks like he needs to get a little bit more sun.
01:46The plastic, though, on the character is a much lighter variety than what we're getting here with Battle Armor He-Man.
01:50Battle Armor He-Man looks a lot healthier compared against Vykron.
01:54Speaking, though, of Mattel Creations, we also looked at, just recently, Mattel Creations' another release.
01:59Here's what the figure looks like with Snout Spouts.
02:02So, while Sweet tried to sell Mattel on the idea with three individual figures,
02:06Mattel Creations sells us, essentially, one figure with the idea in mind that you can switch out the armor on either side of him.
02:12On the one side, he's got the eagle tank armor, and then he's got the spacesuit armor over here.
02:16If, though, you wanted to follow the lore and you wanted to have all three characters represented,
02:20then, of course, this will come into play.
02:22No, not tiny little birds.
02:24You will, of course, want to need to get yourself two more Vykrons,
02:27then you can have them respectively represented as all three looks.
02:30We're going to start, at least, with the look of Vykron himself, as, obviously, that's the way he's going to come out of the packaging.
02:35And, to be honestly fair, until I get around to getting another two of these,
02:38which I'm clearly going to be wanting to get another two of these,
02:41so I can have at least all three of Roger Sweet's looks,
02:44I'm going to probably just stick with the idea of having him displayed as Vykron,
02:47and then just probably put all the rest of the accessories aside.
02:49Speaking of all the accessories, I'm actually surprised, like a clown car,
02:52that everything was able to fit inside this one lone box.
02:55On the front, it says, Vykron, Ultimate Eternian Champion.
02:58But, on the bottom, it actually gives you all the breakdown of the components inside the box.
03:02Looking at this, and then looking at the lay of the land,
03:05he has, actually, a lot more accessories than what's actually listed here.
03:08What's missing, though, is the gun.
03:10The gun, actually, was part of the tray, so you didn't really have to worry about that.
03:12But, like, the shoulder pads for the Eagle tank are actually separate from what they're showing here in the image.
03:17They're actually separate pieces. I'll show you guys how those attach onto his armor.
03:20I might, actually, just hold onto this.
03:22I know, even though it does say Vykron on the front,
03:25I'm probably going to use this for, maybe, some of my Masterverse accessories
03:28that I just don't have places for right now.
03:30In fact, I probably wouldn't like to get myself one.
03:32I'm sure if I do pick up another two Vykrons, I'll just have another two boxes.
03:36That's how it works.
03:37How it works, though, is that the figure also comes included with accessories
03:40specific to the way he looks right now,
03:42being that the Vykron actually comes included, at least for the Viking, a battleaxe.
03:46The battleaxe does, actually, look like he's got a mask.
03:48Hey, hi. I see you there.
03:50The original Viking figure, actually, was sold, or pitched, at least, to the idea that they only have the axe.
03:55I would have loved that he could have come included with a shield,
03:57but, to be fair, if I want to kind of look to the lore,
03:59the character never really had a shield. He only really had an axe.
04:02So, I can't fault Mattel for the fact they only included...
04:04Why am I... Why do I keep doing that?
04:05They only included him with the axe.
04:07The axe does fit into either one of his hands.
04:09The other alternatives to that is the fact that he also comes included with close fits.
04:12Though that eagle armor and space suit both come with weapons that they can wield,
04:17I can't see myself ever really wanting to swap out the hands.
04:19I guess, to be fair, you could really have one of the hands a gripping hand
04:23and then the other hand a close fist.
04:24I'm never going to do that.
04:26So, speaking of things that are going to go back in the box,
04:28they're probably going to be these two things.
04:29I'll do that a little bit later, though.
04:31But, like I said, he does have, again, the axe.
04:33The axe does fit into either one of his hands.
04:36I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time showing you guys how to fit inside a figure's hand an axe,
04:40but he does hold it, and he holds it really well.
04:42He does also have a secondary storage space, if you're familiar as well, for He-Man.
04:45Then you'll know where exactly to look.
04:47What you'll be looking at a little bit different this time is underneath a pelt,
04:50because he does also have a pelt that goes over top.
04:52The original Viking figure also would have had this as well.
04:55No Muppets were harmed in the making, I'm sure, of this pelt.
04:58The pelt does flip up, and then underneath that there's a storage space to hold the axe.
05:04Just take the axe.
05:05The nib on the end of it is a little thicker than the handle that's below it,
05:08but still, though, it manages with ease to fit on the back of his body.
05:12The only thing, unfortunately, about that, though, is with the pelt the way they've designed it,
05:16it has to sit flush to his body.
05:18If you have anything in the way of it, like a big giant battle axe,
05:21then it just looks like he's trying to smuggle something underneath the pelt
05:24as he's running all the way through the forest.
05:27Don't worry, though, if you don't like the pelt.
05:29I like it myself, but they've made it at least easy enough.
05:32Let's remove the axe, first of all, we'll put it off to the side.
05:35You don't have to actually strip anything down off of him first before you take the pelt off.
05:39They've made it even easier that there's Velcro on either side,
05:42so there's a strip here and a strip here that basically runs underneath the armor
05:45if I get my finger out of the way, and then you can just take this off altogether.
05:48Being that the original figure would have had that based on Big Jim figure,
05:51that he would have then just molded all the suit or the muscle over top of it,
05:55the original figure would have had it, so I'm probably going to be keeping this on as well.
05:59If you did want to remove it, though, it's just, again, I'll show you guys right now,
06:02just un-Velcro one side and then just pull the loop through.
06:06Do the same thing on this side, just un-Velcro it,
06:10and again, you just pull that right off, and that's it.
06:13You just put it off to the side.
06:14It kind of looks like that evil rabbit from Monty Python.
06:17What is it, the Holy Grail? It's got fangs.
06:20You put it off to the side.
06:21This, by the way, can just unstrap.
06:23There's a strap on the side.
06:24They basically just fasten in on the sides.
06:27We'll be doing that more in a second.
06:29A look at the figure, at least, is that, again,
06:32this is what He-Man would have essentially looked like
06:34or the Master Universe line would have looked like
06:36before, of course, it moved on to the next phase,
06:38and then they realized, we've got to incorporate more ideas.
06:41We also can't be using things that look a lot like Boba Fett right over here.
06:45For at least the Viking look, he does have very much still a look to He-Man.
06:49Of course, this time around, he's got himself black hair instead of blonde.
06:52He has himself as well a helmet.
06:53Now, the original figure also would have had this as well.
06:55The helmet isn't removable.
06:57There's a peg here on the top that also serves as well for the spike.
07:00That peg is also going to be the thing that works with the tank armor.
07:04Again, for what it is, it's a nice-looking head sculpt.
07:07It looks a little bit like also Conan the Barbarian.
07:10Obviously, they took a little bit of inspirational cues there from there as well.
07:13The only thing I would say, if you're comparing this to the original figure line,
07:17again, we only had the three figures that Roger Sui designed,
07:21the armor is a little bit different from what I've seen on images.
07:24I think the armor initially was more of a darker red.
07:27Clearly here, though, it's more of a brown.
07:29It still has very much a He-Man logo there on the front that's done nicely here in silver.
07:33It's got some silver accents there on the side.
07:35If you wanted to at least get the starting point for a one-dar,
07:38short of maybe just taking yourself a Zodiac armor and painting it,
07:41at least you got the lower loincloth, I think the same color.
07:44Again, for the gauntlets, these, by the way, are removable.
07:47I think you have yourself a pretty decent-looking one-dar for right now.
07:50Head sculpt looks good.
07:51Again, you've got the same standard building block of body as the original He-Man
07:55or the battle armor He-Man.
07:56Things that will eventually come off, though, is his gauntlets.
07:59Those are separate.
08:00The knee guards or shin guards, those are also separate pieces.
08:03But again, for what he is, he's a nice-looking Vicron.
08:07For the articulation on this guy, and really isn't going to change
08:10when we start to break down and look at the other two armors,
08:12head's going to be on a ball joint, so, yeah, it's going to rotate all the way around.
08:15It seems a little more tied up, though.
08:18It does look down. It looks up.
08:19You can also move it back and forth as well.
08:21The arms come out really beyond, well, I guess around 90 degrees.
08:24I don't want to kind of push any limits beyond that.
08:27Obviously, it gets stuck right there.
08:29But the arms rotate all the way around.
08:30You've got the bicep swivel, double hinge on the elbow,
08:32and the hands rotate all the way around.
08:34The upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
08:36You've got a straight swivel down below here, just below the abdomen.
08:39Standard leg splits there. There's ball joints.
08:41There's a three-quarter split on the thigh.
08:44Rotates the leg all the way around.
08:46A double hinge on the knee, if you please.
08:48A rotation here for the lower boots.
08:50Then you've got the articulation here for the ankle,
08:52and you can also rock it back and forth.
08:54By the way, FYI, there's some peg holes on the underside of his feet.
08:56I don't think anybody really cares.
08:58I just want to throw it out there, just to let you guys know.
09:00But, yeah, that's Vikron.
09:02Obviously, the thing about this, though,
09:04and it's probably something I'm going to mention a couple of times more,
09:06to get this figure on his own and then be tempted
09:09by the idea that he has all these extra things on either side of him,
09:12obviously, I'd be very compelled,
09:14very interested to get another couple, well, another two Vikrons,
09:17so I can have the characters displayed with the other two armors.
09:20Speaking of his other two armors,
09:22breaking down everything right now,
09:24for his Eagle Tank armor,
09:26the figure comes included, first of all, with his helmet.
09:28Now, you have to look at the original prototype figures.
09:31It's very much different than what we're getting here.
09:33The original prototype literally looked like
09:35Roger just took the top of a tank turret,
09:38just ripped it off a toy,
09:40because it had the gun right in the middle,
09:42and that's what it would look like if it was still part of its original body,
09:44to be able to rotate back and forth.
09:46What they've done instead is kind of giving us...
09:48It looks very much like a robotic eagle.
09:50And, of course, it's also got the rotating turrets on the sides,
09:53instead of the front.
09:55The idea, though, in mind is that...
09:57Oh, this also does open and close.
09:59So, with Vikron, as he's defeating his foes,
10:01he's essentially stealing their armor,
10:03which is kind of the one worked-in story,
10:05backstory that they've given here for Vikron.
10:07Instead of just flat-out saying,
10:10Some person just designed three characters
10:12to pitch it to a toy company.
10:14They're obviously going to want to give them a little bit more,
10:16a little more of an interesting backstory.
10:18So, like, this would have been originally the armor,
10:20I guess, of a foe that Vikron would have defeated.
10:22Interesting thing enough, though,
10:24is when you're putting this onto the figure's body,
10:26you have to kind of keep the head in place.
10:28And with the helmet non-removable,
10:30you have to attach it.
10:32There's a hole on the inside here.
10:34Basically, this opens up, and this fits over top of his head.
10:36So, I'll show you guys how that works in a second.
10:39I think it's probably the easiest thing first
10:41to kind of remove all the extra armors.
10:43So, we're going to remove the shin guards here.
10:45And these aren't the easiest things at all.
10:47In fact, of all the things that you have to kind of
10:49take off the figure, I wish that it was a way...
10:51I wish there was honestly a way
10:53where you could just attach the ankle.
10:55I know that that's one bit of articulation
10:57that you really don't want to have to start the mess with.
10:59But you basically just have to feed these through.
11:01And as much as it seems like I'm struggling
11:03to feed these through,
11:05it's a lot harder to go back.
11:07So, all the more easier steps of me
11:09actually detaching the armor here for his legs,
11:11I'm going to have even more of a hassle
11:13trying to attach these back into place.
11:15It just seems like the straps fight their whole way.
11:17The whole time you're doing this,
11:19you just continue to fight with these straps.
11:21And basically, you're just again
11:23going to pull these through.
11:25If you find it's also easy too,
11:27you can also soften these up.
11:29I've done this once already.
11:31I probably should have done it a couple more times.
11:33But once already, I've heated this up with a hairdryer
11:35just to kind of soften up the plastic.
11:37I just find though the plastic is really
11:39unforgiving.
11:41It's really thick here on the lower straps.
11:43That again, of the things that we're going to be
11:45changing on the figure, realistically,
11:47this is honestly the hardest things
11:49that you have to worry about.
11:51When it comes to actually taking these off,
11:53I think the biggest culprit happens to be these points right here.
11:55Pulling these through,
11:57you find yourself pricking yourself quite frequently.
11:59Unfortunately, one thing too,
12:01is also taking these off the couple of times that I have,
12:03you might be able to see there's a little bit of
12:05paint that's now flaked off.
12:07They likely obviously have painted these
12:09over top of the grey plastic,
12:11but only just with the two sew times
12:13that I've actually done this, it's now flaked
12:15the paint off. Bit of a bummer.
12:17Anyways though, what we can also do as well
12:19is that we can also unloop these.
12:21Now, these are a lot easier
12:23to detach than the legs.
12:25It also makes things a little easier too
12:27that the plastic is a lot softer.
12:29So we're just going to pull these through.
12:31Just get his arm out of the way here.
12:33Pull one out and we'll do the other thing
12:35on the other side here as well.
12:37Again, we'll just feed this through
12:39and there we go.
12:41And we can also take that completely off.
12:43We really don't even need to take the head off either
12:45because when you're looking at the armor for the tank,
12:47this basically will just fit over top
12:49the head like it is right now.
12:51You don't even have to really worry about taking the head off
12:53to put the Eagle Tank armor on.
12:55I think that's everything though.
12:57Oh yes, and the other thing too is we're going to also
12:59take these armors off.
13:01We're going to remove them from the forearms.
13:03There we go.
13:05And we're also going to take these bracelets off.
13:07Might as well just leave these off
13:09because we'll have to put stuff on first
13:11before we put the hands back in place.
13:13Just pop that off, remove the gauntlets
13:15and I think we've got everything going now
13:17here to add the tank armor.
13:19So basically what you get for the tank armor
13:21if I just get Vikron here to stand
13:23looks a little strange that he doesn't have hands in place
13:25but you get yourself a couple of guards
13:27on his arms. He also has himself leg guards
13:29and I know what you're thinking,
13:31this is going to be a problem. No, actually it's not.
13:33You get a peg this time around instead of a belt
13:35that you have to loop through.
13:37So these are actually a lot easier to put in place.
13:39But like I said, you get arm guards
13:41and then you also get yourself shin guards.
13:43We'll start first though with the shin guards.
13:45And the shin guards, I don't think there's an L...
13:47Oh, there is. There's an L and an R.
13:49I was going to say, putting them on
13:51they didn't seem like they were specific to one side
13:53but at least following the way
13:55that they're supposed to be.
13:57I'm just going to loop them around.
13:59And I think from the standpoint
14:01of the original Master Universe figures
14:03they always seem to go with more straps.
14:05Something that you have to feed through a loop.
14:07Honestly though, I always just think
14:09it's a whole lot easier if you have to contend
14:11with a peg and you have to contend with a hole.
14:13Take that as you wish.
14:15We're going to go ahead
14:17and plug this back in place.
14:19There we go, that's on one side.
14:21Just make sure that the feet...
14:23This is one thing too, you want to make sure
14:25that the ankle doesn't get hung up there.
14:27And we'll do the same thing on the other side.
14:29Feel free to talk amongst yourselves
14:31while I'm doing this.
14:33That didn't mean you had to though.
14:35Just going to plug it in on one side
14:37and again...
14:39I feel like maybe the gauntlets
14:41that go over... or shin guards
14:43I feel like are a little loose on the top one
14:45and yet not loose enough on the bottom
14:47if that makes any sense.
14:49But that's basically the leg guards down below here.
14:51While the hands are still removed
14:53we're going to slide on one of the gauntlets
14:55and we're going to do the exact same on the other side.
14:57Now we can go back to putting
14:59his hands back in place.
15:01Again, we're just going to wiggle those back in place.
15:03There we go.
15:05A little harder because obviously you've got this
15:07in the way of things.
15:09Get the other hand, we'll plug that in place too.
15:11Whoops, let's not drop the hand.
15:13The hand went over here.
15:15Bring the wrist around.
15:17Again, here's where I have to contend with.
15:19See, you've got this little lip that's sticking out like this.
15:21You're just going to
15:23fit that on in place.
15:25There we go.
15:27I think we got it.
15:29With that now in place
15:31the next thing we're going to want to do
15:33is we're going to take the main torso armor
15:35and just before I actually do that
15:37there's one thing
15:39I wanted to show you guys also.
15:41Is he going to fall?
15:43I hope he doesn't fall.
15:45If you're looking at the armor,
15:47the original tank armor
15:49would have had something very similar to this.
15:51It kind of in a way looks a little bit like
15:53man-at-arms.
15:55He does have these shoulder pieces
15:57which again, if you're looking at them,
15:59there is an L and there is an R.
16:01You want to make sure, of course, this is my left side
16:03so I'm going to put it on this side.
16:05There's a little lip right here
16:07and you have to feed it through that hole.
16:09I knew he was going to fall.
16:11You're just going to take it and fit it on the one side
16:13and we'll do the exact same thing on the other side.
16:15You could leave these off
16:17if you wanted to.
16:19Nothing necessarily says that you have to have them in place.
16:21The original figure of the original tank head
16:23would have also had shoulder pads like this.
16:27Let's go ahead.
16:29I knew one of these would come loose.
16:31I feel like if you're looking at this
16:33look how much space there is
16:35between this loop and his leg.
16:37I guess they probably did that so that
16:39it would be a lot easier to put on
16:41and you wouldn't have to fight with it as much.
16:43You don't have to necessarily take off his head.
16:45There is just enough clearance
16:47that it fits over top of his head
16:49the way it is right now.
16:51Granted, though, you do have to struggle a little bit more
16:53getting it over top of his head
16:55but it does seem to still manage to fit over top of his head.
16:57Again, I'm just fighting a little bit more.
16:59The biggest thing, obviously,
17:01is the back of his hair.
17:03That's the hardest thing of getting around his head.
17:05If you think it's a lot easier to remove his head,
17:07just remove his head.
17:09From there, we're going to take the back straps
17:11and put them in place.
17:13We'll do the exact same on this side.
17:15Stretch these across.
17:17Sometimes if you feel like
17:19they're not fitting,
17:21you have to make sure that the torso armor
17:23is far enough down.
17:25I always have problems with one side.
17:27I always have problems with the legs.
17:29I always seem to have problems with the armor here as well.
17:31You're just going to have to fit this around.
17:33I may not even be able to
17:35fit this all the way across.
17:37We'll leave it for right now at least.
17:39We get the gist of
17:41what this is going to look like.
17:43Then you're also going to take the head.
17:45With the head, the way they've designed this
17:47is interesting.
17:49We've already looked at this,
17:51but if you look at the inside,
17:53this does open up.
17:55You would think you're going to be putting it on
17:57like this.
17:59The thing about it, though,
18:01is you want to bring this out first.
18:03Again, there's a peg right there.
18:05If you then look at the top of his helmet,
18:07the helmet also has a point.
18:09You're essentially going to take
18:11I guess you could probably do it the other way as well.
18:13You're going to take the helmet
18:15and it fits right into that hole there.
18:17Can you see that?
18:19I hope you guys can see that.
18:21You know what? I'll bring this forward.
18:23I find it's a little bit easier to do it that way.
18:25This just plugs in place.
18:27Hopefully you guys
18:29are able to see that okay.
18:31It plugs in place, and basically what it is
18:33is that head.
18:35That head fits right into that hole.
18:37You can actually even see. There's his face right there.
18:39Hi, everybody.
18:41That's basically what the tank head then looks like.
18:43It looks really less
18:45like the prototype for obvious reasons.
18:47I can obviously see that Mattel
18:49took some luxuries when it came to redesigning this,
18:51so it literally just didn't look like a guy
18:53with a tank on top of his head.
18:55The other thing that he also comes included with
18:57as well is this blaster.
18:59I don't know. I'm looking at this blaster.
19:01It's got a metal pin that
19:03attaches the handle on either side.
19:05This doesn't move.
19:07It doesn't have any movement whatsoever.
19:09I don't know why they decided to use
19:11what looks to be a metal pin.
19:13From a functionality standpoint, I would imagine
19:15that if they had used just a plastic pin,
19:17it would have worked the exact same way.
19:19He does also have this as a weapon as well,
19:21which would be all then the more reasons
19:23why you need to use the two gripping hands
19:25rather than just the one.
19:27I'm going to plug in on the one side.
19:29I'm going to bring his hand around on the other.
19:31This is the last thing to pull off
19:33because he's got all this bulky armor
19:35in the way.
19:37Again, we're just going to
19:39plug it in place. There we go.
19:41We want to make sure his head is...
19:43I keep bringing your attention to this.
19:45You saw the hole?
19:47That's just going to plug in place.
19:49That's basically what he looks like
19:51with the tank armor.
19:53It's enough of an idea.
19:55You can clearly see where the inspiration
19:57came in place when Mattel designed this.
19:59One of the things that
20:01was my takeaway from the tank head
20:03was that he had these things on the front
20:05of his armor that looked like eyes.
20:07He still has that. He still has his little
20:09silver rectangles with little circles
20:11in the middle that does look very much like eyes.
20:13The original prototype had that.
20:15I think the only thing that is missing
20:17is that on the sides of the turret
20:19there would have been a little H.
20:21Actually, a fairly sized H.
20:23They just have left that off.
20:25I guess it would have been nice if they
20:27had that H there.
20:29It would have meant that these turrets
20:31would have had to be moved somewhere else.
20:33Realistically, they could have put a turret
20:35also here in the middle and just not
20:37have them on the sides.
20:39They wanted to make this a little bit
20:41more modernized for the original tank head.
20:43That's what the tank head looks like.
20:45The last of the armors is the spaceman suit.
20:47The spaceman suit is the most radical
20:49change of all the three.
20:51The original one, if you looked at the
20:53prototypes, it literally just is.
20:55It looks like Sean Connery from that movie.
20:57What was that movie that he was in?
20:59Where he was wearing that red getup.
21:01So little of an outfit.
21:03So more of his skin was shown.
21:05Was it Zardoz?
21:07I think it was a 70's movie.
21:09The original version of the
21:11Boba Fett design basically was
21:13a Boba Fett white helmet.
21:15It was Sean Connery below
21:17in the Zardoz outfit.
21:19What you'll do though is
21:21now that we've taken the time to add all this armor
21:23and stripped all of this off.
21:25I might just cut away, take everything off
21:27and then we'll go back to the basics
21:29as we put on the spaceman suit.
21:31Does that sound good? That sounds good.
21:33Stripping him back down to basics.
21:35I also realized my flash was going this whole time
21:37and hopefully hasn't disrupted the video.
21:39I've left also the hands off because
21:41we're going to leave the hands for at least right now off.
21:43To get the spacesuit armor on him
21:45he also needs himself these gauntlets.
21:47There's also a lot less work involved to get him
21:49into the spacesuit than there was with the tank armor.
21:51It's a lot easier of a process.
21:53You get yourself a couple of gauntlets.
21:55You also as well get yourself the main torso piece.
21:57The main torso already has the head attached.
21:59Unlike the original tank armor though
22:01what we have to do now differently for this one
22:03is that we have to detach the head altogether.
22:05We'll leave the decapitated torso
22:07because the head, if you look at this,
22:09actually does have a peg.
22:11We're going to attach that onto the peg post.
22:13This one also comes included with a jet pack
22:15and it also comes included with a blaster.
22:17The blaster does look good.
22:19It's very much different from the original blaster
22:21because I think the first one was black in the prototype.
22:23Even though the wings do also have
22:25clear translucent plastic
22:27the original wings would have been
22:29big long triangular sheets
22:31I'm guessing of white plastic.
22:33There's a lot of different things that they've done.
22:35Similar though to Boba Fett's
22:37the original prototype also would have had
22:39a cannon that I don't think necessarily
22:41fired off from the backpack
22:43but you can certainly see from the images
22:45it actually jets out further past the point of his head.
22:47This guy actually kind of looks
22:49a little bit like also a bird
22:51and this will just attach onto the back of the figure's body.
22:53If you look at the back of his body
22:55there is no place that you can attach it just yet.
22:57What you'll do instead is that
22:59you'll plug it into the back here
23:01as there's holes provided on either side.
23:03I generally like to do that first
23:05because it's a whole lot easier I find to attach that
23:07rather than putting it on his body
23:09then trying to fit it in place
23:11because obviously this is going to be too close to the plastic
23:13of his torso underneath.
23:15Take the wings
23:17and again there's the slots on either side.
23:19It isn't so much even
23:21just the case that you're plugging it in
23:23if you look at it, it's actually hooks
23:25so you have to kind of
23:27if I'm showing you guys how this is
23:29you have to put it kind of on an angle
23:31you're just not going to push it in like this.
23:33So you put it on an angle
23:35and then you feed it through those holes
23:37and if you do this successfully
23:39which I generally don't have problems doing with this armor
23:41you actually can get the wings on pretty securely.
23:43So what you'll do
23:45is you'll take and remove the head
23:47from Vicor
23:49I say put it off to the side
23:51basically just left it off to the side
23:53and then we're going to take the gauntlets
23:55we're going to put those in place
23:57and while that one is in place
23:59let's quickly put the hand back onto his forearm
24:01just so the gauntlet isn't going to fall off.
24:03Do the same thing on this side too
24:05and unlike
24:07where's the hand? It's right over here
24:09unlike the tank armor, you're actually not having to put
24:11anything around calf plates
24:13so the calves will still remain like just the regular boots
24:15which is kind of
24:17really strange because the original toy
24:19of the space suit for the prototype
24:21actually would have had
24:23white boots and they would have had
24:25these giant
24:27calf guards on the front
24:29that would have also been that dark orange plastic
24:31unfortunately though you don't get it this time around
24:33but for everything else that you do get here
24:35for the space suit, it's not a bad thing at all.
24:37Then we're going to also take the body
24:39and we're just going to separate the torso
24:41or at least the belt area here
24:43and this is one thing that obviously
24:45you're going to have to remove the head first, there's no way around it
24:47you're going to take these
24:49and if you put this down first
24:51see there's a peg on both sides
24:53fit this belt on first on one side
24:55you can try to do it at the same time too
24:57but nobody likes a hot dog
24:59don't show off if you have to
25:01and that's plugged in place, the last thing
25:03you're going to want to do is
25:05take the hole that's on the bottom on the inside of the helmet
25:07and then you're just going to put a little
25:09a little bit of pressure, just a little bit of pressure
25:11to snap that in place. Now I've noticed
25:13this when it comes to the space suit
25:15is that I can't ever
25:17really get the helmet on the first time I do this
25:19I always have to kind of take a few
25:21stabs at it so to speak
25:23because it never really sits in place first the first time
25:25it also helps too that you really want to make sure
25:27that the armor is all the way on there
25:29and it just seems always
25:31like a struggle to get the head in place
25:33there we go, there we go
25:35and then the last thing that we're going to want to do is
25:37take the blaster, fit that into his hand
25:39I think the one I'm kind of
25:41the most disappointed in
25:43is this one here, I mean I can't expect
25:45Mattel just to duplicate a Boba Fett
25:47helmet because obviously for copyright issues
25:49and they obviously want to make the armor
25:51their own as well
25:53they couldn't go with the idea of just simply making this like a
25:55Boba Fett, so what they did instead
25:57I mean they took again some luxuries
25:59when it came to his armor, the original armor would have had
26:01more like that Sean Connery design
26:03he's now got himself a breathing
26:05apparatus here so the front of this
26:07does attach via tank to the front of his helmet
26:09the helmet looks good for what it is
26:11but like nowhere looking at this
26:13I guess to be fair, like all of these
26:15characters, whether you look at the original Viking
26:17design or then you looked at the tank head
26:19or now you're looking at the space suit head
26:21none of them really, for me at least, look enough
26:23like the original prototypes
26:25if you were just to look at these randomly and you didn't know
26:27anything about the lore of Master Universe before
26:29it became Master Universe, I would not be able
26:31to then look at this character and know right away
26:33what his existence, why he even has
26:35a purpose in life in the first place
26:37that's a bit harsh isn't it
26:39again he's going to have all still the same articulation
26:41in fact this guy benefits
26:43from having less
26:45limitations when it comes to the articulation
26:47as maybe like the tank head, still with
26:49the arms, still with the torso, the head's still going to be able to rotate
26:51it's a little bit more hung up now
26:53just because again you've got the hose that connects from the front
26:55to the front of his face
26:57but again of the three, I don't want to say
26:59this one's my least favorite
27:01but it just for me
27:03I like the ridiculous over the top nature of
27:05what those original prototypes would have been
27:07if to look at the tank armor for example
27:09and the way that they've handled the turret
27:11to look at now the way they've done the space suit
27:13it's fine and good that they've modernized
27:15these and gave them their own touches
27:17but to be honest, the thing that makes
27:19the original prototypes so charming was the fact
27:21that it wasn't just a big gym figure
27:23that he just added all additional muscle mass
27:25to it, it was literally just a
27:27tank head that they've ripped off from an original toy
27:29that it had the gun turret in the middle
27:31and it literally would have just rotated around
27:33and it was honestly just a Boba Fett helmet
27:35that then they put over top the body
27:37by taking those cues
27:39and kind of just doing away with some of the charm
27:41at the end of it you get sort of
27:43like the suggestion of what they should be
27:45but never really quite meeting the goal that they
27:47needed to be. I'm glad that
27:49I still had the chance to pick this one up
27:51I'm glad obviously I'm probably going to still want to
27:53despite the fact I wish the characters
27:55had a little bit more of the vintage
27:57charm going for them, ultimately though
27:59I'm still going to want to try to track down
28:01another two of these so that I can have
28:03the Viking in the middle, so I can have the tank
28:05head on the one side and then I can have the ridiculous
28:07Boba Fett on the other side, even
28:09if they don't really look as good as perhaps
28:11the original vintage prototype
28:13figures were.
28:15Just one last thing before we jump over to the
28:17turntable, I want to show you guys as well the correct way
28:19of installing Vikron's head to the inside
28:21of the eagle armor. Saying earlier
28:23though it looked like a bird, it's obviously a bird
28:25because it's the eagle armor. Initially though
28:27what I had done was a correct way of doing it
28:29in that you could take the lower end
28:31of the mouth and you can swing it back like this
28:33to protect the back of his neck and you can still
28:35attach the head the exact same way
28:37doing this by the way with the head separate from the rest of his body
28:39it's just a whole lot easier to get in there
28:41still take the point, still find the hole
28:43just line everything up and you can attach it that way
28:45it still works as a serviceable
28:47helmet but you can also do it the other way
28:49as well. Now I had a struggle doing this earlier
28:51if you bring the mouth forward like this
28:53there's still enough room
28:55and still enough clearance, you can take the head
28:57and plug it in place
28:59and once that's all the way in there
29:01you want to make sure it's pretty flush to the bottom
29:03of his helmet, you can still
29:05conceal his face and still
29:07realistically be able to see straight through
29:09so you can see his eyes, but what you can also
29:11do too is you can take his mouth and bring it down
29:13the only thing I don't
29:15like about this and while it still works
29:17and that's actually the correct way of doing it
29:19the only thing though that worries me
29:21is by moving the mouth forward and
29:23back it still allows clearance for the
29:25face but I worry though that
29:27it would still ultimately scrape the sides of his
29:29head. Again this would be the
29:31correct way of displaying him so that you can either have
29:33the mouth closed like this for the eagle armor or
29:35you can also open it up as well so you can see a full
29:37visible face inside. Severed
29:39Vikron head sculpts aside, good news
29:41everybody, if you guys are interested and would like to get
29:43your hands on the Masterverse Mattel Creations
29:45Vikron in his three different looks
29:47the character as of right now is still available
29:49at Mattel Creations for $53
29:51that's granted $53 Canadian
29:53because I'm a Canadian collector and all
29:55then I'd have to worry about again all the bells and whistles of the
29:57shipping charges that go on top of that.
29:59Bells and whistles wise, I mean this figure does
30:01have quite a lot of those. The fact that he does
30:03have three of the different armors that represent
30:05the original designs that Roger Sweet would have
30:07had in the 80's when he first pitched
30:09the core idea of what Master Universe
30:11would have then been. Maybe
30:13lacking some of the charm that the original toys
30:15would have had. I mean obviously I can't see that
30:17Mattel would have just stuck a big
30:19giant tank turret on the shoulders
30:21of this guy to represent the tank armor
30:23nor for licensing issues there's no
30:25way that they'd be able to pull off a Boa
30:27Hat inspired head sculpt. What we get
30:29though is kind of the next best thing I suppose
30:31we get modernized takes to all those
30:33three designs. Ultimately though until
30:35I get my hands on the other two
30:37of those, probably just going to ultimately be displaying
30:39this guy as Vikron. I think
30:41of the three he's the most He-Man
30:43obviously inspired look to the character
30:45and again until I get my hands on another
30:47two, Vikron is going to be the way that he's
30:49going to be displayed on the shelf in his Viking look.
30:51Have you guys had the chance to grab this
30:53one yet? Let me know down below in the comment section.
30:55Have you guys picked up the one? Have you guys picked up the two?
30:57Or have you been all in and picked up all three
30:59to represent all three of the looks of the
31:01prototype figures? Let me know down below.
31:03If you have picked up only just the one,
31:05which look or if you are
31:07planning to pick this up, which look do you plan
31:09on displaying it as? The Viking?
31:11The spacesuit? Or tank
31:13head? Let me know down below in the comment section.
31:15Also as well, if you guys did enjoy
31:17this video, why not throw it a like. If you guys want to stick
31:19around for more though, hit that subscribe,
31:21turn on the bell, come back please.
31:23As always guys, thanks for watching.
31:25See you guys next time.
