00:00 Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office broadcast. It's a mixed bank holiday Monday,
00:07 heavy downpours, outbreaks of rain in places thanks to low pressure. But there is some
00:12 better news, some good news on the way for the week ahead as high pressure builds in
00:17 for many of us. Though weather fronts will bring some patchy rain across northern parts
00:22 of the UK at times, but for many it will be warm with some sunny spells. But overnight,
00:27 mist and fog patches to contend with as well. So looking at the picture for Monday as we
00:33 move through the afternoon, a mixture of sunny spells and heavy showers across England and
00:38 Wales, perhaps some longer spells of rain in the south-east too. Further north, so northern
00:42 England, northern Ireland, it's cloudy but largely dry, some heavy showers perhaps possible
00:47 here. Temperatures 13, 14, 15 Celsius under the cloud, close to 20 degrees Celsius again
00:54 in the sunshine. But as I mentioned, there is some heavy showers across the UK. So if
01:00 we look at the details for this afternoon, across south-east England, some heavy downpours,
01:05 some localised disruption. Met Office warnings in force for this rain here and also the heavy
01:10 showers across Wales, the Midlands into northern England, some local rumbles of thunder. Further
01:15 north again into Scotland, some heavy showers possible, 20 to 40 millimetres is possible
01:21 in a short space of time for a few of us. So perhaps expect some travel disruption.
01:27 But in between, in the sunshine, it will feel warm. As we move into the evening time, the
01:32 thundery showers start to ease. Rain still across the south-east but as we move into
01:36 the early hours, it gradually starts to pull away. And then overnight, it's largely dry
01:41 but there will be a lot of cloud, low cloud as well, making it misty and murky over the
01:45 hills and around the coasts. Under any clear spells, temperatures will dip into single
01:50 figures but for most, 10 or 11 Celsius to take us into Tuesday morning. A grey damp
01:56 start in places, foggy too, but the fog should lift and break and it will be dry for many
02:03 of us. Some bright or sunny spells developing through the day but large amounts of cloud,
02:07 particularly through the spine of the country up into Scotland. The cloud thick enough perhaps
02:12 for a few splashes of rain. Into the afternoon, a few showers possible. Could be on the heavy
02:18 side, the odd rumble of thunder, but most places remaining dry. And in that sunshine,
02:23 temperatures will lift again up to around 20 Celsius. Under the cloud, 13, 14 Celsius.
02:30 Overnight low cloud could still linger for some eastern coasts right through the day,
02:34 making it feel quite chilly here, a little bit of a northerly breeze too. Into the evening
02:39 time, any showers that are around will fade away and you can see the cloud starts to melt
02:44 away, allowing mist and fog to reform quite widely as we move overnight and into Wednesday.
02:51 So it's a showery day today, some local heavy downpours possible, but then high pressure
02:56 begins to build in, plenty of dry and bright weather on the way. For more details on this,
03:01 you can follow us on our social media channels. See you again later.
