00:00What's up guys, so today I wanted to answer a question that I've been getting a lot, I wanted to do a discussion video.
00:06So, a lot of people were upset that the S21 series did not get the AI features that the Galaxy S22 series got.
00:17And what's kind of interesting about this whole thing is the question is, I keep seeing the comments,
00:22is Samsung trying to get older flagship users to upgrade their phone?
00:28Are they trying to like force an upgrade to use these AI features?
00:32Because the only AI feature that the S21 phones got was the circle to search,
00:38which we're finding out that Google said they're going to try to bring this to a lot more devices as well.
00:44So it'll be like a standard thing, I'm assuming in Android 15.
00:48And that's also another interesting thing here. So Android 15 will also be available for the S21 series as well too.
00:57So we're going to get Android 15, but it's not going to have the AI features.
01:02So it's just a very bizarre thing.
01:04And this whole idea of, you know, smartphone companies trying to, I guess, kind of like sabotage, right,
01:12your experience to get you to upgrade.
01:15So this is not a new thing. Like back in the day, and I had to pull up the article.
01:20But back in the day, this was like a big thing with the iPhone, actually.
01:23So back in 2017, Apple confirmed a long held suspicion among phone owners by admitting it had deliberately slowed down some iPhones as they got older.
01:34It said that as the battery age, their performance decreased.
01:37And so the slowdown lengthened the phone's lifespan.
01:41So I remember when this came out, and it was definitely a big thing because the older iPhones were getting slower,
01:46and then it would kind of force you to upgrade.
01:48Now, we haven't really seen, to my knowledge, anything like that with the Samsung Galaxy phones of them slowing down.
01:54Because if you look at the comparisons that I've been doing, so like the S22+, you can see its Geekbench scores here.
02:00And if you look at graphics, it's very similar.
02:03You can see with the S21+, it's a very similar score.
02:08They both perform essentially the same.
02:10They both game the same at 90 frames for PUBG or pretty much anything.
02:14There's pretty much no difference.
02:15So the only thing you can really assume is that they're just trying to get you to upgrade your phone.
02:22Now, the reason why I say I think yes and I would say no is because I think it's a little bit of both.
02:28Because Samsung did extend the software lifespan of the Galaxy S21 series.
02:35Because these phones were not originally supposed to get Android 15.
02:40So that's why I said I don't think they're trying to make you get rid of your phone.
02:46But I think with the AI stuff, I personally don't see a hardware limitation with this.
02:53So it is a little bit suspicious.
02:54But again, you've got stuff that you can say, well, these phones are getting Android 15.
03:02And then you also have to remember, Samsung did extend the lifespan of their phones or the newer ones.
03:07So the Galaxy S24 line will receive seven years of major OS updates.
03:12And I think that's very impressive as well.
03:15So basically, these older phones or at least the newer phones are going to last way, way longer than the older phones we have now.
03:25So, you know, I think it's a little bit of both.
03:28I think, you know, these phones can definitely run the software, the AI features, but they just didn't want to put it on there for whatever reason.
03:38But what do you guys think? Do you guys think Samsung did this deliberately?
03:42Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
