00:00All right guys, today we got the S22 Ultra versus the 14 Pro.
00:06We're going to be doing a comparison here.
00:08So this is a pretty big one, so if you guys are interested in getting either one of these
00:14flagships, they both have some pros and cons that we'll get into.
00:19But let's go ahead and get started.
00:20First off, the price.
00:21These are just wildly expensive phones.
00:23We're talking about $1,000 plus smartphones here, so very expensive.
00:28But the good thing about these type of phones is that you really don't have to upgrade for
00:32a very long time if you do go ahead and get one of the best phones that you can actually
00:37get right now.
00:38All right, so let's go ahead and talk about the speed, because that's one thing everyone's
00:43always mentioning and asking me about.
00:45So in the Geekbench, you can see that the iPhone is going to give you this score, and
00:53the Galaxy, it gives you this score right here.
00:57So you can see, the iPhone is going to beat out the S22 Ultra in terms of the Geekbench
01:02scores go.
01:04But as far as using both of these phones, your day-to-day daily use, your average person
01:08really won't notice the difference.
01:10I have seen some videos where, as far as gaming videos, if you're a hardcore gamer, the iPhone
01:17is a bit more consistent.
01:19But you got to remember, this is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
01:21They have an 8 Gen plus 1 chip that does better.
01:25So as far as your general performance, I've been using both of these phones, I really
01:29cannot tell the difference in terms of performance here.
01:33But we'll go ahead and just do a quick little app launch test for you guys.
01:40I'm telling you guys, they're both very smooth when it comes to performance.
01:45I don't think anybody would really notice the difference.
02:00iPhone getting there a little bit faster.
02:02As far as when you open up a bunch of applications, because I think this is really what a lot
02:06of people want to know, when you open up a bunch of applications, are both of these phones
02:10still smooth?
02:11Yes.
02:12I've seen a lot of things about paying top dollar, just throwing a bunch of apps on these
02:17phones very smooth.
02:19So with the S22 Ultra, it's the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
02:23This version is 128 gigs, and then you also have 8 gigs of RAM.
02:27The iPhone, Apple A16 chip, and it does have the 128 gigs and 6 gigs of RAM as well.
02:37Tempo run.
02:40So as you guys can see here, the iPhone is a little bit faster in terms of loading games,
02:44but as far as your general applications, you really won't notice too much of a difference
02:50honestly.
02:51And even with loading games, it's still like half a second faster as we can see here.
02:57So not really that big of a difference.
03:00As far as gaming performance, gaming performance is going to be pretty good on both of these
03:04devices here.
03:07I would love to see PUBG 90 frames come to both of these phones.
03:11It was on the iPhone, it was on my 13 Pro, but it's not on this 14 Pro here.
03:18So hopefully the S22 Ultra gets a nice update to support the 90 frames.
03:23I would love to see that on both.
03:27As you guys can see, as far as the speed difference, it's really close.
03:39And finally in on the Ultra.
03:43So as far as the actual gaming performance, like I said, running an HDR stream, it honestly
03:49feels the same.
03:50So for your average person, yes, your gaming performance is going to be pretty much on
03:56par.
03:57Now again, I've seen some cases where the iPhone in certain games, it'll play a little
04:02bit better.
04:03But like I said, if you're not a hardcore gamer, there's no way that you can tell the
04:06difference between these two phones.
04:08They both are just excellent, forgive me.
04:10So let's go ahead and talk about the screens on these two phones because one of the biggest
04:15reasons why I've been using the S22 Ultra as my main phone is because it has still one
04:19of the best screens on any phone right now.
04:22And obviously one of the biggest things to jump out here is the punch hole versus Apple's
04:28new notch or pill-shaped cutout, which does look much better than their notch that they
04:35had on the 13 Pro.
04:38As far as viewing content, it still looks better on the S22 Ultra in full screen because
04:45you just get to see more, it's less distracting and stuff like that.
04:49But as far as the screen qualities on both of these two phones, they're actually very
04:53excellent in terms of screen quality.
04:56So on the S22 Ultra, it's Dynamic AMOLED, it's 120Hz HDR10+, 1750 nits peak brightness
05:04and then it's 1440p 500 for the PPI.
05:08And then with the iPhone, you can get the Pro Max version if you want a bigger screen.
05:13I wish they had an S22 Ultra that's the size of the 14 Pro because I'm not a big fan of
05:18the big phones.
05:20But this one has the LTPO XDR OLED display, it's 120Hz HDR and this actually has the brightest
05:26display at 2000 nits peak brightness, so it's actually slightly brighter than the S22 Ultra.
05:32The resolution is 1179x2556, it's 6.1 inches, like I said, if you want a bigger one, you
05:38go with the Pro Max.
05:40It's 460 for the PPI.
05:41As you guys can see, just looking at videos and stuff like that, you can obviously see
05:46the difference with the punch holes and stuff like that.
05:49So definitely, it translates to pretty much anything that you do, whether you're on social
05:54media applications or whether you're just in here playing video games and stuff like
05:59that, it just takes up less space.
06:01So I do really like looking at content on the punch hole.
06:06By the way, if you guys really want that full screen experience, check out the OnePlus 7
06:10Pro videos that I have.
06:11Full screen, beautiful, I absolutely love that phone.
06:14But as far as displays, I still prefer the S22 Ultra here.
06:17Let's talk about the additional features.
06:19So what features do each phone have up its sleeve to sort of sway you to whichever side,
06:26right?
06:27So with the iPhone, obviously they're doing a little bit better with customization with
06:30the iOS 16, also you have your FaceTime iMessage, which people really love, and Apple just has
06:36really tight-knit software integration here, so you get timely software updates and it's
06:42all just really a breeze, especially if you're already in the Apple ecosystem.
06:47With Samsung, Samsung wants to sort of sway you with the S Pen, which is excellent quality,
06:53by the way.
06:54There's so many things you can do with the S Pen.
06:56Check out my tips and trick video on it.
06:58But there's so many things as far as just like, if you're like a content creator on
07:02your phone, just being able to use the S Pen to take pictures from a distance just by pressing
07:08the button.
07:09As you can see, snap a photo.
07:10Same with the video.
07:12Also, it's just great for anybody that's into digital artwork or you just want to use your
07:16phone, you want to use the stylus to navigate with.
07:19Also, Samsung does throw in a few software things that I think go underappreciated, like
07:24the Samsung desktop support is a very excellent application.
07:27I might remake a video about that.
07:29Reverse wireless charging is on here that the iPhone doesn't have as well.
07:33Secure folders is really cool.
07:35So Samsung does throw in a lot of very cool things to sort of sway you to, you know, the
07:41Samsung side.
07:42Both phones have stereo speakers.
07:43Let's go ahead and compare those starting with the 14.
08:08Yeah, it's not even really close.
08:09The S22 Ultra does not have the best speakers this year, especially compared to the previous
08:16models, the S21, even the S20, the Notes.
08:20This one is almost like one of Samsung's weakest speakers.
08:23Yeah, the iPhone just kind of trumps it.
08:27And honestly, I thought it was me until I looked at a bunch of other people's reviews
08:31on the S22 Ultra, and yes, I'm not the only one that noticed it.
08:34It does have one of the weaker speakers this year for sure.
08:37So iPhone definitely, you know, it's just, it's just way louder.
08:40Yeah, it's just way louder in terms of bass, in terms of just general sound.
08:48Also, both phones have IP68 dust and water resistant.
08:51They both have NFC.
08:53They both have wireless charging.
08:55The S22 Ultra, like I said, does have reverse wireless charging, which is very cool as well.
09:00As far as the biometrics go, this is where I've always appreciated Samsung.
09:04So you do have the fingerprint scanner, which works flawlessly.
09:07It's very fast.
09:08But Samsung also gives you the option to do the face unlock as well.
09:12With the iPhone, yes, the face unlock is more secure, but I still like having the option
09:18to, I still like having two options on Android, right?
09:22You only have one option on iPhone.
09:25So that's also one thing that I really appreciate.
09:28But face unlock does work really well.
09:29I have no issues with it at all.
09:32All right, so let's go ahead and talk about image quality and the cameras so you guys
09:37can let me know which image quality do you guys think.
09:40So the cameras are pretty unique on both of these phones in terms of what they're trying
09:45to sell you on.
09:46So on the S22 Ultra here, we have a massive 108 megapixel sensor.
09:55It also has 10 megapixel periscope telephoto.
09:58It does 10x.
09:59And then a 10 megapixel telephoto lens that does 3x.
10:02And then a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
10:04There's a macro mode.
10:05It shoots in 8K24.
10:06And then a 40 megapixel selfie cam.
10:09And then that also shoots in 4K60.
10:13And you can see Samsung really wants to sell you on zooming.
10:16So if you're into taking a lot of zoom shots and stuff like that, this is honestly one
10:20of the best phones for zoom.
10:21It even goes up to 100x zoom, which is absolutely crazy.
10:24But it does take some really beautiful shots at 10x, 30x.
10:28It just definitely beats the iPhone in terms of zoom photography here.
10:32It's not even close.
10:35But yeah, so let's go ahead and go over the 14 Pro's specs here.
10:39So you have a 48 megapixel standard.
10:41A 12 megapixel telephoto that's 3x.
10:45And then a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
10:47This does have a macro mode.
10:48It shoots in 4K60 on the front and back with a 12 megapixel selfie cam on here.
10:53Apple has some pretty cool modes on here, like the cinematic mode is pretty cool as
10:58well.
10:59You also have, and let me know, do you guys think the iPhone's video is better?
11:03I've always been a really big fan of iPhone videos, so be sure to let me know about that.
11:08But as far as the image quality goes, which phone do you guys think did a better job?
11:58Here's the S22 Ultra.
12:52Alright guys, lastly, let's go ahead and talk about just my battery life experience
12:58with both of these phones has been pretty good.
13:02The S22 Ultra, like I said, I've been using this as my main phone right now, and the battery
13:08life experience is pretty good.
13:09I pretty much only charge it at the end of the day, so it definitely is an all-day phone.
13:14It lasts easily six hours, and again, depending on what you're doing, if you're doing more
13:19intensive stuff, then it could die faster.
13:21But in general, the battery life, I've never had to worry about this phone, and it's the
13:25same thing with the 14 Pro here.
13:27It has excellent battery life as well.
13:29I would even argue a little bit better than the S22 Ultra.
13:34So it feels like I'm getting a slightly better screen on time with the 14 Pro, but you have
13:40a 5,000 mAh battery on the S22 Ultra, and then you have a 3,200 mAh battery on the iPhone
13:46here.
13:47Alright, so be sure to let me know.
13:49What do you guys think?
13:50Which phone would you guys buy?
13:52And I will catch you guys in the next one.
