00:00What's up guys today we're going to be talking about the Galaxy S series for
00:03going into 2023. I'm going to be talking about all the essential things you need
00:07to know. If you guys want to see a video on these phones individually type in

00:20ahead and get started here. So I get this question a lot I want a Galaxy S series
00:24phone I want either you know the newer ones or older flagships. So we have the
00:29S9 plus, the S10 plus, the S20 ultra, and the S21 ultra, and the S22 ultra here. So
00:35which phone out of all of these phones is the best right now? Like if I had to
00:40choose out of all these phones for the best price to spec ratio I would 100,000
00:47percent get a Galaxy S21 ultra. For somebody like me that's kind of like I
00:52we stick to a budget on here right so this is kind of like a budget channel we
00:56like to find deals. This is the best deal pretty much that you can get out of
01:01almost any phone right now. Price to spec ratio if we go ahead and type in Galaxy
01:06S21 ultra this is a renewed refurbished version. I buy renewed refurbished phones
01:11pretty much like I would say 80% of the phones on this channel are renewed
01:14refurbished. This phone you can pick up for around 450 to 480 dollars depending
01:22on who you get it from. But I picked this up for you around 450 and yeah it's
01:29just it's literally the best phone that you can pick up right now as far as the
01:33specs go. It's absolutely nuts because the screen on here one is absolutely
01:38beautiful. One thing I like about this screen is that it's just as good as the
01:42new S22 ultra but it doesn't have that boxy feel when you hold it in the hand.
01:47So for people like me with smaller hands I typically like the phones that are
01:52shaped like this because they're easier to hold. You also might like that the
01:56screen on here curves doesn't curve as dramatic as the S22 ultra as well and
02:03again that's you know personal preference there. But yeah so I absolutely
02:07love the screen on here it's 120 Hertz it's 1440p it's beautiful panel on here
02:13and like I said it's extremely cheap right. So the S22 ultra let's say if you
02:18want it the best of the best S22 ultra is still gonna cost you around a
02:21thousand dollars but this you're getting pretty much everything you would get
02:24with this phone. Even when it comes down to camera quality wise this phone is
02:28still extremely close in terms of quality with the S22 ultra. The only
02:32thing that it's missing is built-in stylus support but even with this phone
02:36you still get stylus support. So I think that's extremely cool. The Snapdragon 8
02:41Gen 1 processor is awesome on this phone. I'll show you guys the
02:45Geekbench scores and all that stuff but yeah I would definitely buy this phone.
02:49The design is extremely cool on here. I think it's one of Samsung's best design.
02:53The camera cutout on here and the matte finish and just how it feels in your
02:58hand is just extremely cool and extremely comfortable for me. So let's go
03:05ahead and just do a run-through of these devices. So we have the S9 plus let's
03:10talk about this phone right. It's an older phone you can find this for 120
03:15bucks probably cheaper than that probably like a hundred bucks. I really
03:19like this phone. Would I buy this phone? Personally not really. Samsung I believe
03:25this year is the last year for security patches so it's not even going to be
03:29getting security patches anymore. You can still use it of course. I've been you
03:32know using it playing games on it all that good stuff. You can still use it but
03:36you're not gonna get security patches so I would skip out on the S9 plus and I
03:41would definitely get a S10 plus if you are thinking about getting you know S9
03:48plus. Just save up the money and get an S10 plus. The S10 plus is actually pretty
03:53close in price. You can pick these up for like $240. They're very cheap as well
03:58too and they're just overall better. The S10 plus has a better chip the 855
04:04versus the 845. This will play games at high settings and we'll get into that.
04:09It'll play games better. The SD card support is still here. The headphone jack
04:13is still here on this phone so anybody that's considering an S9 plus guys I
04:18would really consider saving your money and just spend a little bit more. Get the
04:23S10 plus. It'll have better cameras, more cameras, a better screen on here. It's
04:28just a a much better device in terms of power and also it'll be getting this
04:34phone had Android 12 right and that's the last major OS update but it also
04:39will get around three years of security patches so you can still use this phone
04:42get security patches for the next three years and you'll be perfectly fine here.
04:46So I want to talk about the S20 plus. I just got this phone recently and it's
04:52been maybe a week or so. I really enjoy this phone. Surprisingly it's the best
04:56gaming phone here. So out of all of these phones this phone gets the best settings.
05:00It's the only phone here that plays PUBG at 90 frames which I'll show you and yeah
05:05it's incredible. So obviously the headphone jack is going here but this
05:09phone still has SD card support. The S21 Ultra and the S22 Ultra does not. So if
05:15you want something that's a little bit more modern with a high refresh rate
05:19because these two phones do not have it. You want something with a high refresh rate
05:22plays excellent. Again I'm talking about this thing plays games and does not
05:26really even heat up like that. It's really awesome. It plays at a high
05:29settings. Check out the gaming test. Screen is beautiful even though you
05:33can't use 120 Hertz and 1440p it's still a beautiful display. The design
05:38actually is kind of boring on the S20 Ultra. It's not the most exciting design
05:42out of all of these phones but yeah but I still really like this phone and it's
05:47actually pretty cheap. You could find it for the $350 price range as well too. I
05:52think it's absolutely a great deal and like I said still has SD card support
05:56extremely powerful chip on here the Snapdragon 865 chip as well. Actually
06:02let's go ahead and just pull up those chip scores here so you guys can see
06:06just the progression in the processors. So you can see this is snap all these
06:16are snapdragon phones guys snapdragon 845 855 this is the 865 you guys see
06:28that sort of leap in power here and that's not right there we go
06:368888 and then we have the HN1 I think this is that's not right. Samsung
06:45the Geekbench 4 are always weird but yeah these are probably the most
06:48accurate scores here you guys can see that big score jump oh I can't
06:54talk you guys can see the progression with the scores here and that translates
07:00to gaming because I always get asked about gaming so let's go ahead and
07:05launch PUBG here. Alright so we got PUBG running on all of these phones and like
07:10I said guys the S20 Ultra check this out able to run at 90 frames we just
07:17can't get that setting on the you know on any of these phones you know there's
07:26no 90 frames that's 9 plus you got to be surprised the S9 plus actually still is
07:30able to play games obviously not as good as these phones but it actually still is
07:34decently plays games it doesn't sound like it's lagging all over the place
07:38yeah so all these phones are able to play HDR extreme and the S20 is just
07:44gonna do better it's just way smoother in terms of performance and I find that
07:49this phone when it comes to just playing games in general for a long period of
07:54time this 865 chip does not heat up as like this 8th gen AAA processor in the
08:008th gen one it's just way cooler experience by by far the 855 is
08:05extremely efficient as well too with the S10 plus so it's also very good for
08:10gaming and like I said for cheap this is why I don't recommend this is why I
08:15don't recommend mid-range phones especially for people who come to me and
08:18say Matt I want I want a game I want a game but I don't want to you don't need
08:23to spend four hundred five hundred dollars on a mid-range phone you
08:26literally can get a older flagship phone you get HDR extreme settings like I said
08:31look at a galaxy a53 look at the settings that you would get on an a53
08:35and compare it to this it's not even close the performance is just gonna be
08:39way better on you know the s10 plus and the the s20 ultra it's not even a
08:46competition so if you're somebody that's gaming man you can pick these phones up
08:49just play games it's awesome even the s9 plus still does a pretty good job I
08:55think this phone is able to do it's able to do smooth extreme HDR ultra yeah
09:01so not quite you know HDR extreme but it still plays pretty decently so yeah the
09:08newer phones obviously they're gonna do well with game it's just that they they
09:12get hotter than the older phones I noticed that the the sweet spot is
09:16really the 865 and 855 these phones game at good settings but they don't get hot
09:20let's look at the display progression here so as you guys can see the design
09:26language you can see Samsung actually did not when a lot of phones were having
09:30notches they said they're not putting notches on it so you can see Samsung
09:34waited and just got a little thick bezel right there but it still is better than
09:37having that big chunky notch that they used to have back in the day you can see
09:41Samsung waited to put punch holes in their phones here and it looks these
09:46screens are I'm telling you Samsung makes some of the best screens man just
09:50looking at these screens they look so good even the s9 plus compared to the
09:54the newest s22 ultra it's the s9 plus still sharp is still 1440p it's still
09:59high-resolution these are beautiful screens that you can see phones are
10:03actually getting bigger remember these are all plus sized phones so look how
10:05big phones that have gotten you know over time but beautiful screens here if
10:11you're somebody that loves screens I would definitely consider the s21 ultra
10:15and the s22 ultra they have the brightest screens right in direct
10:20sunlight also they do 1440p with 120 Hertz so unlike the s20 ultra it's only
10:271080p 120 Hertz the s10 plus like I said s10 plus s9 plus great screens they just
10:33lack the 120 Hertz and stuff like that but if you don't care about that these
10:36are still beautiful screens to look at watching Netflix on they're all HDR 10
10:40plus they're all dynamic AMOLED displays they all look beautiful but yes you
10:45guys can see the just the beautiful screens the design language here
10:49Samsung has always been extremely good at making displays here so definitely
10:55that's something that I really love alright so there is something that you
10:58need to know and I want to talk about these software updates this is very
11:02important like I said s9 plus is pretty much done for it's not really getting
11:07any more security patches the s10 plus it will get around three years of
11:12security patches the s20 ultra it just got Android 13 I believe so that's the
11:19last major OS update and then it will get three years of security patches I
11:23think actually yeah three years and then the s21 ultra s22 ultra so these phones
11:29are kind of special because these two phones get four major OS updates and
11:33they get five years of security patches so if you do go ahead and get these
11:37phones you really don't have to upgrade or worry about the upgrading these
11:41phones for a very long time because they will be supported much longer so
11:45that's also a very awesome thing and actually these Samsung phones are
11:49actually the most supported or have the longest lifespan now because of that so
11:53four major OS updates in five years of security patches alright so I do want to
11:58go ahead and talk about these speakers on these phones here and let's see if we
12:03can notice like a speaker progression here let's go ahead check out the
12:06speaker progression and see are these speakers getting better over the years
12:37as you kind of sound pretty much on par not that big of a difference
12:43the S20 Ultra is a tad bit louder but not not by much
13:03much better bass with the s21 ultra definitely a little bit louder but
13:17overall the sound clarity is a little bit better as well too
13:22yeah definitely better bass
13:42yeah just awful alright so I went on this rant I went on this rant before
13:48this is Samsung's worst speakers of all time I think and I'm not exaggerating
13:54the bass is terrible it sounds worse than the s9 plus I don't know what
13:59happened but Samsung typically has made great speakers the speakers in here are
14:04terrible like just weak bass not not that loud for especially for a phone
14:11this size yeah that's not plus it is louder so that's absolutely crazy I
14:17would say Samsung's worst speakers is in the S22 Ultra for sure it's not I
14:20don't even think it's debatable but yeah so let's go ahead and move on guys let's
14:25talk about cameras I'm gonna give you guys my camera recommendation this is
14:29where the S22 Ultra shines if you have an older phone you could literally go
14:34with the if you just want the best of the best right the S22 Ultra literally
14:38has one of the best camera systems it's extremely it just has so many cameras on
14:43it it's just absolutely nuts but the S9 S10 plus if you guys were thinking well
14:50maybe I'll just get the S20 Ultra for a camera upgrade save up the money I'm
14:54telling you get an S21 Ultra or S22 Ultra the cameras on these two phones
14:59are absolutely phenomenal we're talking about 108 megapixel lens extremely
15:04detailed photos crazy zoom a hundred times zoom these two phones take amazing
15:09photos at 30 times zoom it's absolutely insane how good these phones are like it
15:15is really really crazy 30 times zoom shots look amazing 10 times zoom shots
15:19look amazing the S20 Ultra also has a very good zoom capability it has a
15:24really good camera I just wouldn't I just would say but if I'm a camera
15:28person I'm gonna be posting on Instagram and posting on snapchat I really would
15:32save up that extra money because the video is just better on these two newer
15:36phones and also your stills the zoom shots are better so like I said save up
15:40the extra money get the S21 Ultra or the S22 Ultra for the camera quality it is
15:46definitely worth it if you're somebody that likes cameras you don't really care
15:50about cameras if you're coming from older phone you can get the S20 Ultra
15:53be perfectly fine still takes amazing shots but yeah the S9 plus and S10 plus
15:58they actually still take pretty good shots surprisingly so you know it just
16:04doesn't have all the crazy zoom features and it doesn't have macro it
16:08doesn't shoot in crazy resolutions and stuff like that but these are also these
16:12are very good cameras it's just that they're not gonna look anywhere near as
16:15good as these two two newer ones and like I said the S22 Ultra for anybody
16:20that wants the built-in stylus it has a built-in stylus with all of the
16:25functionalities that you would get with the built-in stylus the pen support the
16:30pen support is extremely accurate on here it's like writing on actual paper
16:35so I'm talking about I like to use this for like jotting down notes for like a
16:39grocery list because I always forget stuff it feels extremely instant if
16:44you're somebody that's in a digital artwork and stuff like that you will
16:47really like this pen like I said it's just awesome guys really really awesome
16:52experience um as far as additional features so this is pretty interesting
16:57so pretty much all of these phones are capable of doing Samsung desktop support
17:04I think the S9 plus does this have desktop support can't remember yeah
17:11Samsung Dex is on here Samsung Dex is on all of these phones secure
17:16folders pretty much software wise they have all the same features so you're not
17:21really missing out on too much I think the S9 plus does this have reverse
17:26wireless charging I can't remember I don't think this does it might can't
17:30remember though I don't see it on here yeah it might but I don't think so but
17:40yeah they pretty much have all the same features um you know as far as the
17:44software goes and remember you can use the pen with the s21 ultra you just have
17:49to buy the case alright so I do want to talk about battery life now this is
17:53where you don't really see that much of a progression the S9 I did a battery
17:59drain test actually you guys can check out basically all of these phones do
18:02around six hours of screen on time you might get less battery life on the S10
18:07plus and S9 plus simply because they're older phones so the battery might have
18:11degraded a little bit but typically these phones aren't gonna do crazy crazy
18:17good battery life they just do okay battery life so typically you're looking
18:20at around six hours of screen on time with these phones so Samsung really I
18:25think for the next phone it really needs to focus on improving battery life with
18:30the S series because I definitely we should we need to see some type of
