00:00What's up guys? We got a highly requested comparison here. The S20 Ultra versus the Note 20 Ultra.
00:09Two very awesome older flagship phones that I highly recommend.
00:13And a lot of people have been asking me, you know, which one should I get.
00:18And they do have some, you know, minor differences, which I think we should definitely go over here.
00:25Because both phones actually run the same chip, but there are some differences that I think comes down to personal preference.
00:31So let's go ahead and dive into the price of these two phones.
00:35So older flagships, you know, pretty cheap, as I always say.
00:40The Note 20 Ultra is actually going to be the more expensive phone here.
00:44So you can see, and the price actually has been going up on the Note 20 Ultra.
00:48I think it's because it's the last Note phone, you know, with a stylus with SD card support.
00:54So you can see it's like $376, $359.
00:58So it has been going up a little bit.
01:01It used to be close to $300.
01:03The S20 is going to be the cheaper option as well too.
01:07It's $280 right now.
01:09So, you know, both close to $300, but the S20 Ultra is definitely cheaper.
01:14So you will save money going with the S20 Ultra.
01:17It looks like in any market, so even if you're overseas, the S20 Ultra should be cheaper.
01:22All right, so let's start it off with the design.
01:24I think the design is very important here because the S20 Ultra is way more comfortable.
01:30Samsung used to do the S-series phones like this, and then they got rid of it,
01:33and then we only get the Note design even with the newer phones, the S-series phones.
01:39It's just way more comfortable to hold, especially for a big phone like this.
01:43Basically, what's going on here is that you have the edges curving,
01:47and on the Note, it's a more boxy feel, so it kind of cuts into the hand.
01:51I just really like the S-series design because even if you have smaller hands,
01:57it's a big phone, right?
01:59Both of these phones are 6.9 inches, but it's not super uncomfortable to hold, right?
02:05And again, this varies on the size of your hands and stuff like that.
02:09But I think in general, the S-series phones are just more comfortable to hold.
02:16Like I said, the Note is no problem.
02:19If you have bigger hands, you can sort of handle it kind of different like this.
02:22But typically, you're going to be holding it like this, all the way at the bottom.
02:26So it just feels more comfortable with the S20 Ultra here.
02:31Now, as far as the hardware, I think the Note actually looks better than the S-series phone.
02:35Let me know what you guys think.
02:37But I think that it's aged a little bit better.
02:39I like the Note's design a little bit more than the S-series, especially how they did the camera.
02:44Both are glass and metal devices as well too.
02:48They're both IP68 dust and water resistant.
02:51And they both still look really good.
02:53Like I said, S-series feels better.
02:55All right, so one of the big differences with the hardware is obviously the S-Pen.
02:59I think this plays a big role.
03:01Honestly, if you don't care about the S-Pen, I would just save some money and get the S20 Ultra, right?
03:08That's not the biggest major difference, but that is like a pretty essential difference here.
03:13Basically, if you're into digital artwork or you just want to navigate the phone with a stylus, you can't do that.
03:19The S-Pen feels great on the Note.
03:21Like I said, Samsung has a lot of features in here that you can take advantage of with the software as well too, like the Smart Select.
03:29And you can actually just—I like to use this to like color when I'm bored.
03:33It really is kind of relaxing.
03:35But yeah, there's a ton of stuff that you can do with the S-Pen.
03:38I did a tips video on it if you guys want to check that out.
03:41But yeah, if you don't care about the S-Pen, you don't see yourself using it, I would just get the S20 Ultra, honestly.
03:47Alright, so for the screens, we pretty much have identical screens here when it comes to specs.
03:53Both of these phones are 6.9 inches.
03:55They both have the Dynamic AMOLED display, 120Hz HDR10+.
04:00They're both 1440p displays.
04:02And they both have a very high PPI, the Note 496 and the S20 511.
04:09Basically the same display.
04:10They both do 120Hz only at 1080p.
04:13The difference here is, like I said, the boxy design versus the more curved design.
04:19Like I said, it's easier to handle the S20 Ultra.
04:22I think the Note 20 Ultra, I think it is better for watching content simply because it looks more like a TV, right?
04:29And I think, like I said, the S20 Ultra is just easier to handle.
04:33But as far as the screens, they're pretty much identical.
04:36So there's no real difference there.
04:38It really comes down to the screen design that you like.
04:41And also, they're both curved displays as well too.
04:44So that's why I said they're pretty much identical when it comes to the displays.
04:48Alright, so both of these phones have pretty similar specs.
04:51They both have the Snapdragon 865 chip, which is a beast when it comes to overall performance still in 2023.
04:58They both have the base model of 128GB and 12GB of RAM.
05:04They both have SD card support as well too.
05:07So when it comes to performance, both of these phones are blazing, blazing fast.
05:11And here is something that's pretty cool.
05:13Both of these phones actually run PUBG at 90 frames.
05:16They do an actually excellent job at gaming.
05:18I do have a gaming test that you guys can check out.
05:20But they do a fantastic job at gaming.
05:22So anybody who is trying to game, these phones are so much better than something like the Galaxy A54 or most mid-range devices.
05:30You can really get a pretty good gaming experience if you are a competitive player at PUBG or something like that.
05:36You will have a pretty good experience, guys, for the most part.
05:39Not only just PUBG or whatever.
05:42Opening up applications and everything on these phones, it's pretty fast.
05:47The experience is very, very fast on here.
05:50So it feels like a new phone today, right?
05:53So no issues when it comes to performance here.
05:56Both of these phones have the same software update cycle.
06:00So they both got their last major OS update with Android 13 when you got 5.1.
06:05And they also will be getting security patches from now on.
06:10They pretty much can do everything that the new phones can do as far as Samsung desktop support, reverse wireless charging, secure folders.
06:17There's pretty much nothing on here that the S20 Ultra does, you know, these phones do as well too.
06:24So that is really good.
06:25You're still getting the latest flagship features with these phones right now.
06:28So that is really awesome.
06:30All right.
06:31So let's go ahead and talk about the speakers.
06:34Both these phones have stereo speakers, max volume.
06:37Start with the S20.
07:04So they both actually sound pretty much alike.
07:16These are very loud speakers.
07:18So even if you cover the bottom speaker, the top speaker on both of these do a very good job.
07:22They both have still very fast fingerprint scanners.
07:25And you can also take advantage of the face unlock on both of these phones as well too, which is pretty sweet.
07:32All right.
07:33So I'm going to show you guys some side-by-side stills.
07:34But there is a difference with the cameras on these phones.
07:37So let's go ahead and talk about it real quick.
07:39So the Note20 Ultra has a 108-megapixel standard, a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto.
07:45It has 5X zoom and the 50 times hybrid zoom on here as well too.
07:49So you can go in, zoom in pretty well on this phone and get some pretty nice zoom shots.
07:54And like I said, very high resolution photos.
07:57So if you're trying to crop, both these phones do a really good job.
08:01It shoots in 8K 24 at the max and then 10-megapixel selfie cam shoots in 4K 60.
08:07Now, the S20 Ultra, it does have 100X zoom on this phone, which is pretty sweet.
08:14So you have also the 108-megapixel standard, 48-megapixel periscope telephoto.
08:19It does 4X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, 0.3 depth sensor.
08:26It also shoots in 8K 24, then a 40-megapixel selfie cam on here that shoots in 4K 60.
08:32So basically, this one shoots in 100X zoom.
08:36So you get to go even further with this phone.
08:39So it's kind of similar to what we have now with the S23 Ultra, the newer phone.
08:45So I think this is when Samsung first introduced it, right?
08:48So yeah, so you have that 100X zoom so you can go really far.
08:52I'm going to show you guys these side-by-side stills and video.
08:54I think these phones both take really good shots.
08:57Let me know what you guys think.
09:24Let's take a look.
09:54All right, here is the Note20 Ultra, guys.
10:03It's a 0.5.
10:06You have 5X zoom as well.
10:10All right, guys, here's the video with the S20 Ultra here.
10:20And go ahead and zoom in.
10:24This is 4X.
10:27We also have a 10X on here.
10:31And this is at 60 frames.
10:34Let me know what you guys think here.
10:42Now, on these Snapdragon models, I'm able to get some pretty decent battery life.
10:47I can squeeze about six hours of screen on time out of both of these phones,
10:51which is pretty good for older flagships.
10:54The Note does have a 4,500 mAh battery with 25-watt charging,
10:58wireless and reverse wireless charging.
11:01But the S20 Ultra does have a slightly bigger battery,
11:04and I am getting a little bit better screen on time with this phone, I noticed.
11:08It's got a 5,000 mAh battery.
11:11And what's cool about this phone is it charges a little bit faster.
11:14I think noticeably faster, 25-watt versus the 45-watt on here.
11:18This does charge much faster, which I like.
11:21It's 15-watt charging, wireless charging,
11:24and then you also have the reverse charging on here.
11:26So that's pretty nice.
11:27It does have a little bit of advantage when it comes to battery life and the charging speed.
11:31So that is pretty much it, guys.
11:34I think both these phones are phenomenal.
11:36Like I said, it comes down to the overall design of the phone, boxy versus the curve.
11:41And then it also comes to do you want the S Pen,
11:43and this has the 100x zoom, which is always very fun to play with.
11:47And, yeah, other than that, they're both pretty similar in terms of the cameras, I thought,
11:52and also the overall experience.
11:55Like the Snapdragon 865, both, you know, flagship chips,
11:59still pretty much perform really good in 2023.
12:02So what do you guys think?
12:04Be sure to let me know, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
