00:00Alright guys, so let's talk about the Galaxy S20 FE.
00:05So this is a phone that I get quite a few questions about.
00:08So I'm just going to say off rip, if you do live in the USA, I would definitely just pay
00:14a little bit extra money and go with a Galaxy S21 phone, S21 FE, S21 Plus, or even the standard
00:21S21 because they're about the same price.
00:24So the S20 FE is still trending for around $159, $169, depending on which one you get
00:33as far as the quality of it, but it looks like certified refurbished is still sitting
00:39around the $180, $160, and it goes up and down.
00:43So I would definitely get a Galaxy S21 FE, so if you live in the United States, that
00:49is what I would tell you guys, I would not get this over those phones, obviously because
00:53they're new and they're going to get longer software updates and you can see S21 FE, not
00:56that much more, you can find them for just as cheap, so just spend the extra money.
01:03Now for my guys that are overseas, so that's a little bit different because I know the
01:07price gaps are a little bit different in markets like India, Philippines, and stuff like that,
01:13so definitely let's go ahead and run through it.
01:17I still think this is still a fantastic device and you'll see why.
01:20So let's go ahead and just dive in here.
01:22Alright, so let's go ahead and start off with the actual performance of this phone
01:26and it is still fantastic guys, something that I say all the time.
01:30So this phone has a Snapdragon 865 chip in it, this specific model has 128 gigs of internal
01:36storage and 6 gigs of RAM, and then you also have SD card support with this phone, so that's
01:41another reason why these older Galaxy phones are really popular is because you do have
01:46the expandable storage, which is something that obviously is going to be really good
01:51for people who take a lot of video, download a lot of content, and stuff like that.
01:55As far as gaming on here, for a game like PUBG, even in this later part of 2023, we're
02:03still able to play HDR Extreme, it's still playing very consistent at 60 frames, and
02:09also it can heat up during longer periods of gaming, but it's not anything to where
02:15the frames actually start to drop or the game crashes or anything like that, I've actually
02:19never had this phone crash and stuff like that, but the graphics look beautiful, super
02:25super fast, and I don't think anybody playing games would be disappointed with the performance
02:30on this phone, especially compared to what you would get with a $200 phone, like an A14
02:38or A24 from Samsung, it's actually pretty impressive.
02:42So I do want to go ahead and bring up the Geekbench scores here, I do like to use Geekbench
02:485, I don't really like Geekbench 6, I know a few of you guys were mentioning that, but
02:53this is generally the score you would get here, you can see how it compares to Samsung's
02:58other devices, so it still does a fantastic job, the Snapdragon 865 chip, it's still really
03:04fast.
03:05Not only that, but it's just fast with just running One UI, so this phone got Android
03:1013, One UI 5.1, and it's still been a pretty speedy experience with this phone, I actually
03:17think with software updates, this phone has actually gotten better, when I first got this
03:22phone, it was doing a lot of animation stutters, and I'm not sure if that was because of the
03:266 gigs of RAM, but with the improvements to One UI, it's actually a very fast phone, you
03:32rarely get animation stutters with this phone, so it's really really smooth now, so it's
03:38one of those cases where software updates actually really help this specific phone out,
03:43so I was really impressed with that.
03:46But overall, as far as the software experience, everything is pretty much still on here as
03:49far as wireless charging, I mean, not wireless charging, yeah wireless charging is on here,
03:54but reverse wireless charging, you also have Samsung desktop support, NFC, secure folders,
03:59it's pretty much got everything in here that you would want, so it's a really really fast
04:05experience and this phone is still getting security patches as well, which is really
04:08nice.
04:09Now the display on the S20 FE is pretty nice, it's a 6.5 inch Super AMOLED display, it's
04:15120Hz in it's HDR10+, it's completely flat, and it's 1080p, 405 for the PPI, it has a
04:2185% screen to body ratio, so the bezels on here are respectable, it's not like super
04:26crazy, but definitely are respectable bezels, and it's a beautiful display still, very colorful,
04:32very bright and vibrant, it does pretty good in outdoor setting as well too, so if you're
04:38in direct sunlight, it's not too bad.
04:42So this phone overall, the screen is just really nice and I think it's at a pretty comfortable
04:46size as well too, it's not super super big, and yeah, I just absolutely love the display
04:52on here, like I said, super super smooth screen.
04:54Alright, so I do want to touch on the hardware a little bit here, so the Galaxy S20 series
05:00in general wasn't my favorite design from Samsung, I think it was a little bit unambitious,
05:06a little bit bland in my opinion as well, and this one is no exception, and the sort
05:14of drawback with this phone is that it does have a plastic back, so it's not going to
05:17feel as premium as the Galaxy S20 Ultra, it's not going to feel as premium, it's kind of
05:24light, but what saves it a little bit is that it does have metal sides on it, so it doesn't
05:32feel completely cheap, and the design is just okay, I'm not a crazy fan of the camera
05:37module or the colors that they put out with this series in general, but yeah, it's plastic
05:43back, it's IP68 dust and water resistant, so yeah, it's not going to feel like a super
05:47premium luxury device, but it does have all the premium luxury specs I think that a lot
05:53of people appreciate, and it is also very comfortable to hold as well too, considering
05:58that the screen is 6.5 inches, and also you do have a nice little curve, so when it fits
06:04in your palm, it doesn't feel like it's cutting into the palm, so overall I think the design
06:09is somewhat decent I guess, as this phone is aging, like I said, the S20 is not my favorite
06:15design era from Samsung, but what do you guys think?
06:18I'm going to talk about image quality with the S20 FE, now this is an area where I think
06:24Samsung has done a fantastic job with a lot of their phones, a lot of Samsung phones just
06:29have excellent, excellent photo quality, so this phone has a 12 megapixel standard, 8
06:36megapixel telephoto, it does 3x optical zoom, and then you also have a 12 megapixel ultra
06:41wide that shoots in 4K60, with a 32 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60 as well, there
06:47is honestly, the photo quality is just really good on this phone, I think the only place
06:54where this phone would show it's age a little bit is probably in a lower light setting,
06:59then you can see pictures getting a little bit soft when you take light away from it,
07:04but I'm telling you, anything outdoors, anything and just some good lighting, it's going to
07:09take a really, really good photo, and then also it does have, you know, it doesn't have
07:14like these super high res lenses as well too, so like for instance the main lens is 12 megapixel,
07:19so if you want to like take photos and crop, you know, you're going to lose detail definitely
07:24with a 12 megapixel lens, but other than that, I mean the photos themselves, you know, you
07:30can see for yourself, very beautiful photos here, really good image processing, super
07:35punchy color on here as well too, so overall I really like the cameras on here, I don't
07:40see anybody buying this phone and taking a picture and saying that it's a bad camera
07:44by any means, and also the video as well, so I think it's still an excellent camera
07:50in 2023.
07:51This phone also has stereo speakers, we got them at max volume.
08:15So you do have pretty good audio quality, especially if you, you know, cover your finger
08:21over the bottom speaker, you still get pretty good, you know, quality there from the top
08:27speaker, so that's really nice, and then you also have an under-the-display fingerprint
08:31sensor, which works really well, so no issues really with that.
08:36Now, also, you can take advantage of face unlock too.
08:40Now battery life on this phone is pretty decent, it does have a 4500 mAh battery with
08:4725 watt charging, and then it does have wireless and reverse wireless charging, and the battery
08:51situation is pretty decent, like I said guys, basically you can expect to get around 6 hours
08:57of screen on time with this phone, so again, it's not going to be super, super impressive,
09:02but this is a phone that I've never had die on me in a day, so that's really nice, and
09:07overall I think this phone is just a pretty good buy, it has a lot, basically all the
09:12flagship specs, it just has the plastic back, which, again, it could be a good thing for
09:18certain people, you know, if you're going to use the phone without a case, you know,
09:22it's harder to crack a plastic back than a glass back, right, yeah, so that is pretty
09:28much it, I still think it's a good buy for people who are overseas, and it's just at
09:33a really good price, but I would say if you live in the USA, definitely spend the extra,
09:39you know, like 50 bucks and just get an S21 phone, so let me know what you guys think,
