01:14How's your outlook on the season now? It's as grim as it has been because you
01:21go into Green Bay and I asked on Monday if I could take Green Bay at them at the
01:26time, minus one and a half, and I was told I couldn't. But in real gambling you
01:30can and I did. But in our bit, the fade the dibber, now I'm riding this thing all
01:35the way out until I don't know maybe next segment. About about about 45
01:39minutes. You gotta play this number. Now it's jumped to five and a half and it
01:42looks like it's gonna hold at five and a half based on the metrics I'm looking at
01:46from the gambling world. And so you know where am I at with the Niners outlook of
01:51the season? It still is all dependent on what happens next. And he's not gonna
01:56play Sunday. I get it. Can you win? You're allowed to. And I'm looking at the
02:01Moneyline odds and they are plus 200 to win, which means it's a two-in-one
02:07chance that they don't, which I believe is implied odds of about 33% chance that
02:11they win. So let's assume that they lose. They're underdogs for the first time in
02:16two years. You go to Buffalo. If Brock doesn't play in that game and you lose,
02:20well at that point you can start thinking about the season really kind of
02:24being over depending on how long Brock is out. If Brock just misses this game, I
02:29still feel pretty good about their chances because he is a huge key to this
02:34team. Well I mean technically if you want to play the the the math out, even if
02:40they lose the next two games, they're totally allowed to go on a five-game win
02:45streak to end the season. Sure, the math is still there as we as you hate when I
02:48say, but the math would be there. There's no divisional losses in there if they
02:52lose the next two. True. Only one of them is a conference loss. Again, I don't
02:57know when Brock's gonna be back, but I can answer it a different way because
03:03again we're just talking opinions here. This does lower my outlook of the season.
03:08Oh it has to. 100%. No doubt. I think the thought that maybe the 49ers can do
03:15this and maybe they'll capture that and maybe they'll find themselves and
03:19they'll stop committing all the penalties and just whatever. I've thought
03:24of this 49er season all year, kind of like a golf swing when you're in a slump.
03:29You know damn well it's in there or not even a slump. You ever do this where the
03:34driver is just going 30 yards shorter than normal? Oh yeah. Right? And you're
03:39like, what am I doing? I'm clearly right. My hips are too far. It's like
03:42something. But I know it's in there. It's in there. You just got to go find
03:48it. And I've felt that way all year long about this 49er team. It's in there. You
03:54just got to go find it. Well for as long as Brock Purdy and Nick Bosa and who
04:01knows maybe Trent Williams, I now don't necessarily believe that it's in there.
04:05Doesn't mean that they won't get a good break or have a good game. Doesn't mean
04:09that it's not savable. But I do not any longer believe in the, at least for this
04:15moment, the personnel of the San Francisco 49ers based on who they're
04:19going up against. It still is in there. If Brock misses one game then you still, I
04:24believe, can say that it is still in there. And the way things could break,
04:28Arizona's got Seattle and Minnesota. That could be two losses. They're 6-6.
04:33Seattle's got Arizona and they've got a New York Giants team, which if they
04:39split, they're 6-6. The Rams could split and be 6-6 and you could be
04:425-7. So worst case scenario or the best of the worst case scenario, no
04:47Brock in the next two. You lose both, you're 5-7. You could still be
04:52only one game out with five to go. Why don't we focus in on this particular
04:59moment though and we see you coming. So we're going to the phones here in just a
05:03sec. 888-957-9570. How do you feel about the season outlook now? There is no Brock
05:10Purdy. There is no Nick Bosa. This weekend in Green Bay, Trent Williams a
05:14question mark. Here's some more from Kyle Shanahan on everything that's in
05:19play. First of all, this is what he said about Purdy's progress throughout this
05:22week. This was complaining about how tight it was throughout the game. It started
05:26happening throughout the game. That's why he was warming up just a lot more than
05:30usual. He said he had a hard time keeping it loose and then after the game is when
05:35it really started to hurt. Then Monday morning is really when I had to go get
05:40an MRI for it. Okay, so that's interesting information because we're not just
05:44talking about the practice week. We're talking about the last game and for all
05:48of the talk about Brock not letting it rip and not seeing it downfield, you
05:53start to wonder actually if this shoulder was a part of that decision
05:57making within the game because he was definitely suffering throughout the
06:00game against Seattle. Yeah, no throws in the last two games but last game he did
06:04have a couple as Greg Cosell laid out to us in our weekly hit with the senior
06:09editor, senior executive from NFL Films and he saw two or three plays where
06:13there were open throws down the field and he just didn't see it and maybe he
06:17saw it but he didn't feel confident enough in the shoulder to let it rip.
06:21So, it's one thing to see it. It's another thing to execute it and if you
06:25can't do that and obviously that's where we are right now and he had an MRI
06:28yesterday and the fact that he had an MRI tells me that they feel like there's
06:33something in there that is wrong and you don't just get an MRI because you want
06:38to check it out you know you go through the the physical therapy which he did
06:41after practice when he couldn't go anymore and you get the MRI and
06:45obviously nothing is so so bad that they put him on IR or anything like that but
06:50he clearly has something wrong with the shoulder. Yeah, okay now this is now
06:53focusing in on the 49ers at least for for Sunday the 49ers new starting
06:58quarterback Brandon Allen most of you have probably not seen him play hasn't
07:03really played for two or three years in the league used to be the Bengals
07:06backup quarterback has won a few games but it's been a while this is what Kyle
07:11said with regard to whether or not the game plan changes moving to Allen from
07:17Purdy. Yeah, you know there's not a big game plan adjustment you know it wasn't
07:21this is something that we didn't think would happen early in the week so we
07:24were fully preparing for Brock to go and I'm getting a little surprised about
07:27this on yesterday nothing has to change so that's a good deal for us. Okay, so
07:33short answer is no game plan doesn't change. Right, okay I mean the game plan
07:40doesn't change but I wonder what that means as far as the expectations because
07:45Brandon Allen is a professional quarterback his last start was in week
07:4918 back in 2022 I believe and it's a game where you know he went out there
07:55and played with a bunch of twos against other twos and he went out and lost but
07:58doesn't even matter what the result was he's a guy who hasn't played football
08:02game speed NFL football in a long long time so if you're telling me the game
08:08plan doesn't change then the game plan must have been to not really take a lot
08:13of chances and just and ride your running back. I'd also say this like
08:16shout out to when Cosell said to us you guys it's a press conference one thing
08:21that I think Kyle Shanahan and most coaches when they hear they immediately
08:25shut down is tell us your game plan no right how about that no I'm not telling
08:33you so no you're not gonna sit there today and be like yep we're running the
08:36ball now cuz this guy stinks he's not gonna do that and I don't even think he
08:42feels that way but he's not gonna do that he was asked if if the 2022 season
08:48gives him any confidence the year that they had to play three QBs and ended up
08:53in the NFC title game I don't think I look at that way I mean it's good to
08:56have that story and stuff but um I think my day of hope is because they're with
09:00Brandon every single day so I mean I know outside of here people I've seen a
09:04lot of Brandon because he hasn't had to go in yet but this is Brandon's second
09:08year they see him on scout team all the time and you know obviously guys won't
09:11rock up but guys are excited to see Brandon play okay let's hear from
09:15Brandon here's a voice you probably never heard before Brandon Allen who did
09:20not really think that he was going to start until he was told today yeah
09:24today really I know he had a plan for his shoulder all week he's gonna rest it
09:31a little bit on Wednesday on Wednesday and I think we kind of split reps there
09:35on Wednesday he's gonna rest it a little bit and then I think the plan was
09:38Thursday to come out and practice and I guess just in warm-ups just wasn't
09:43feeling right and so you know still expecting kind of go in get treatment
09:48come back but yeah I kind of found out today okay and then this is what he said
09:51about the specific Green Bay matchup solid defense obviously they're the
09:57defense the key part why they have a pretty good record and then they do a
10:00great job of forcing turnover so it'll be our job to to protect the ball keep
10:06in our guys hands and you know that's that's really throughout the NFL it's
10:10that's a big key to winning games is is protecting the football okay and are you
10:15preparing differently now that you're the starter you know preparation really
10:19hasn't changed besides just getting more reps I think that's really the only
10:22difference this week was actually getting to throw to some of the guys and
10:26you know getting live reps with with JJ Devo George all those guys Ricky so that
10:32was really the only main difference for me this week that's your guy yeah
10:35Brandon Allen started your old quarterback he's been a journeyman out
10:39of Arkansas I've been mostly a career backup debuted in 2019 he's made nine
10:45starts he's two and seven his last start was back in 2021 with the Bengals a game
10:52where he was not necessarily stellar he went 15 to 29 for a buck 36 didn't throw
10:59pick one touchdown and he mentioned the Green Bay Packer defense they are tied
11:04for fifth in takeaways with 19 and you know yards against on the average per
11:10play they're in the middle yards per pass yards per rush all the same they're
11:14a good defense but what they do a lot is take the ball the way and he is aware of
11:20that yep although Jerry Alexander also ruled out for the Packers he's not
11:23playing I will say this if you want to like look at the stats he hasn't started
11:28a lot of games as you said in his career he's only played in 16 games but if
11:33you're looking for something numbers or numbers or numbers or numbers right he
11:38has in every single year of his career thrown more touchdowns than picks not
11:45normal for a career journeyman backup it's usually kind of the other way that
11:49was kind of a fun stat thank you I mean sunshine on a rainy day no but I mean I
11:54think that go do it for Josh Dobbs go do it for Josh Dobbs and let's see what it
11:59looks like I will but Brandon I don't know touchdowns in his career six
12:03interceptions he's got a 3-2 a 5-4 and a 2-0 I mean for a career backup I would
12:10argue that that like only six picks in how many how many past attempts does he
12:15have in his career 263 yeah 63 2.3 percent which is pretty good
12:21Brock's this year is about four which is also still pretty good Josh Dobbs career
12:2615 touchdowns 13 pitch yeah look at that and one more win than Brandon Allen
12:33yes in five more stars I think both of them are like the backup yeah right like
12:41they should be in those commercials with the backup quarterback that comes in and
12:44like parks the truck or whatever like they're that's who they are and this is
12:49where you look last year at Sam Darnold and you think you might have had the
12:52best backup in the league for sure what he's done this year and you don't always
12:55get to have that guy although I saw something earlier today about Daniel
13:00Jones being the next 49er backup maybe next year or whatever happens to Daniel
13:05Jones but that would be the kind of backup you'd want somebody who's
13:08actually gone out there and played a bunch yeah once he clears waivers they
13:11can go get him if they want you can start him on you like that should
13:14happen when does that happen can he be ready by Sunday I'm kidding

14:11because you know like I pretty much get all my 49er updates from you guys I mean
14:16I you know I peruse on internet whatever whenever I whenever I have a moment but
14:20it's pretty much from you guys so you know going into this week we got all
14:24these injuries and and you know I'm not I'm not gonna get into the fire Kyle
14:28Shanahan thing even though that's how I kind of feel I'm not gonna go there we
14:36need them and but my point is right now with all the injuries I mean I think all
14:41those draft picks that we turn away to get Trey Lance to move up to get trail
14:44if I mean I think those are gonna bite us in the ass now right like you knew
14:47this day was coming we don't have like you know people are out you know like we
14:52don't have great backups I know backups are usually the best players but it's
14:57like I don't know I hated that move when we got trailing us to move up and got
15:02trail if I hated it and I knew that would bite us eventually and it's it's
15:05kind of happening now what do you guys think well here's what I think you do
15:11well that's two players that you'd love to have that you don't have for sure but
15:14that's a little it's a difficult line to draw it directly from that to this
15:20there's no two ways about that that was a disastrous right move I think you'd
15:24either have two players even if neither of the player wasn't a really superstar
15:29player at least you'd have two guys that you really liked that would be on this
15:32team that you don't have right but in theory those guys would already be in I
15:36mean I don't my point is is that's not suddenly a thing if it wasn't already a
15:40thing right it was already a thing I think it was already a thing that's what
15:44I was saying back in September when I looked at this roster very unfortunate
15:47move and and just because they were able to find a different quarterback in a
15:51different year in a different round does not mean that you don't feel the effects
15:55of that it's a it's a hellacious miss that that the 49ers right because it
16:01wasn't just one pick it was a bucket full of picks and so yeah there's no
16:06there's no getting around that but I don't I don't suddenly think of it today
16:11and go oh now that these injuries have happened now is when you're feeling that
16:16I've been thinking about it for a long time going back to you know early
16:20September when it looked like the roster was not as deep as other rosters in the
16:24past and part of it is because you don't have those first-round picks and luckily
16:28or not luckily because I don't think it's luck I think it's scouting but
16:32congrats to the Niners for having such a great draft this last year because
16:36you've gotten six players to immediately step in and be a part of your 22 man
16:41starting roster and think about if they would have had a mediocre draft where
16:45this team would be if you didn't have Poonie or green or Mustafa and you know
16:51pierce all and you want to roll all the way through the list of guys who've come
16:53in and made an impact you'd be in a real world of hurt but because you had a good
16:58draft that's offset it a little bit but to me you still would love to have had
17:03two first-round picks that would be in the building there's no there's no way
17:07around that and I mean I don't know how y'all look at that I I've always said
17:12this I bake that in to the thought about any draft or any team they all have
17:19misses and this one was a really really bad one but that's part of the deal man
17:25you got a swing sometimes and sometimes you're really really gonna swing and
17:29miss my only concern looking at a team in drafting players is if they're doing
17:35this consistently and so that's why I've always sort of kind of puffed up a
17:39little bit when people start going after the boy there's the Trey Lance thing and
17:44then you didn't do offensive line and you didn't do we wanted here and those
17:47third round running backs and damn it and then on the other side of the fence
17:52is this unbelievable list of what the 49ers have done fourth round and later
17:58like just plucking pro bowlers out of you know third fourth fifth sixth
18:06seventh around Kittle Greenlaw Purdy Fred Warner we could go on and on and on
18:11so like to me I like that's when I'm gonna get on a team for doing what they
18:16do in the draft is if they are consistently having misses outside of
18:21that I think every team every team whiffs boy every team that got a
18:25quarterback that whole year whiffed that whole class was a whiff I mean even
18:31Trevor Lawrence was a whiff what's he gonna what's he gonna do in Jacksonville
18:36we got you to a playoff great so I mean that's more than the other guys have
18:40done the best job yeah yeah he's making 55 million a year have fun well and you
18:45know good enough for that see how bad this injury is and you know if it turns
18:50out to be worse than what all of us had thought I wonder how that will affect
18:55what the 49ers look to do not only now but in the offseason because if Kyle
18:59Shanahan is not sure that he'll be ready to face the Bills on December 1st and
19:03those are his words he's not sure so if you go loss loss and Arizona goes win
19:08win and they're eight and four and you're five and seven and now you're
19:12looking at it like okay now we're three back with five to play you're toast well
19:17maybe you're into shutdown mode and if you're into shutting Brock down if Brock
19:21might be ready on December 8th and you're three games back with five to go
19:25maybe at that point you think about shutting Brock down and I wonder how
19:29that affects Brock's money going into the offseason if he again has an injury
19:34and again he's not able to finish a season I'll look at it another way which
19:38is and I think this is actually a very realistic possibility Niners could lose
19:43the next two games and still be one game out of first it's possible very
19:46very realistic possibility when I was laying that out if Arizona plays
19:50Seattle and Minnesota those are not guarantees on the road Seattle's got
19:54Arizona and the Giants and the Rams have a winnable and an also a losable game in
19:59there yeah well the Rams play Sunday night football against Philly right on
20:03this weekend and then I do think that their other game and I'm putting it up
20:07now is against the Saints on the road so that feels like it's pretty winnable
20:11probable but yeah I I don't even know with any of these teams well the point
20:16is if all three of them go one and one then you're looking at you know Arizona
20:21would lose two and the Rams and Seahawks would also be six and six and you'd be
20:25five and seven so you could be a game out of all three with five to go and
20:30then you know Brock is coming back and you've got a Chicago team that you will
20:34be favored against and then you've got head-to-heads that can go your way I
20:37also want to read this it comes from our friend and contributor late last night
20:42dr. Nirav Pandya and I want to read this because I saw this and this one
20:47resonated with me and that was well before we knew for sure that Brock was
20:52out even though I very much felt that yesterday but listen to this with regard
20:57to Brock Purdy shoulder soreness there are obviously multiple possibilities as
21:02to what the actual cause could be for pain a larger issue is anytime shoulder
21:09soreness presents in a throwing athlete with prior elbow surgery it is something
21:17to watch closely so doc is at least throwing out the possibility oh yeah
21:24yeah that this is a concern not because of just this injury but that it in some
21:30way is being either aggravated or pushed forward because of what Brock
21:35experienced in the offseason last year yeah and he actually reiterated that
21:39earlier today talking about a combination of an injury in the same arm
21:44as a UCL reconstruction and I asked him just quickly on Twitter about the
21:49internal brace procedure that Brock had which is not Tommy John but it's similar
21:53where you put in an internal brace does that at all connect to the shoulder
21:57which would then make the shoulder more vulnerable to that type of an injury and
22:01we don't know what the shoulder injury is if it's you know a labrum or a
22:06sprained AC joint like you know we saw with Jordan Mason we don't know the
22:11nature of it but the very nature of a shoulder injury where you already had an
22:15arm injury that is trouble I'm gonna make a prediction right now and I don't
22:22know when this will come out but it is my belief that we are going to hear that
22:27this injury did not take place in the game against Seattle hmm I think that
22:33Brock Purdy has been dealing with this for my guess would be about three weeks
22:37I've noticed that the 49ers will not say or act like they don't know when it
22:42happened that's not true by the way they know exactly the second that Brock Purdy
22:47came to them and said something's not feeling right with the shoulder because
22:51even in games that he played well let's take the fourth quarter the second half
22:54against Tampa where we all loved what Brock Purdy did it has looked to me for
23:00about three games like the ball is floating it looks like the zip is gone
23:06even in passes that are close to the line of scrimmage and his misses are
23:11high think about the Debo Samuel throw over the middle and then even think
23:16about some of the throws that we saw outside the numbers against Tampa Bay
23:19early in that game he's missed high and the ball the throw that he likes to
23:26throw tends to float a little bit more than what it normally does so I'm not
23:32saying this as a doctor I know nothing on this particular topic just a guess
23:37based on the way the ball has been coming out of his hands I think Brock's
23:40been dealing with this for a few weeks yeah I would guess that he heard it on
23:44the touchdown dive last week when he dives with a ball on the left and he
23:49lands on the shoulder on the right that to me is probably when it happened
