00:00You see Santa Claus tonight, you better run, boy. You better run for your life.
00:05Here's your Christmas spot on the NECA Toys Silent Night, Deadly Night, Retro Cloth, Billy Chapman.
00:10🎵
00:29Years later, after witnessing his parents' murder by a robber in a Santa suit,
00:33and then being raised in an orphanage by an abusive mother superior,
00:36the tormented Billy goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa Claus.
00:41And Denise had been hung on the antlers with care.
00:44We could all tell that Santa had already been there.
00:46First, let's grab the tape measure and let's see how tall the Retro Cloth Billy Chapman stands.
00:50Being that I don't want to get on the naughty list, I'm not going to fit.
00:53We've already looked at this figure a couple of times on this channel,
00:55the last time about three or four years ago, so I thought it would be a perfect time.
00:58Considering that the makers of Terrorfire want to reboot Silent Night, Deadly Night,
01:02we can only hope it's going to be as good as the original.
01:04It's never going to be as good as the original.
01:06Needless to say, though, the Retro Cloth Billy Chapman stands at 8 inches in height,
01:10where the killer, dressed as Santa, stands at 20 centimeters tall.
01:13As we slash through the seasons, NEC has helped with our holiday hackers.
01:17At the very beginning of the killing calendar, of course, we celebrate Valentine's Day.
01:20You know, what a better way to celebrate the season of love
01:22by having a minor coming along and cutting out your heart.
01:24Here's the Retro Cloth Billy Chapman, along with the Retro Cloth minor.
01:27Depending on where you live, you would celebrate either Thanksgiving in October or in November.
01:31Either way, you're probably thankful for the fact you haven't crossed paths with this guy,
01:34the killer from Thanksgiving. Here's the Retro Cloth John Carver.
01:37And, of course, to celebrate Old Hallows season, I chose Michael Myers here from the 2018 film.
01:41Then to jump full swing into the festive season,
01:44if we are going to be talking or having a conversation, at least, about Billy Chapman,
01:47we have to also be having that same conversation about the garbage killer, Ricky Caldwell.
01:51And also, as well, we did get ourselves a somewhat Retro Cloth release.
01:55That is courtesy, of course, of Al Veyer from Scary X-Men.
01:59Unlike his younger brother, Ricky, older brother, Billy, actually saw two official releases.
02:03The first one, and the one that we're looking at here, was only originally exclusive to Scream Factory,
02:07where you had to order it directly from their site.
02:09Then he got followed up with a clamshell release that was widely available through retail markets and comic book stores.
02:15But the one that we're looking at in this review is, though, going to be the original Scream Factory release.
02:19The only thing that you could really say would be different between the two
02:22is there's obviously brand new packaging for the clamshell release,
02:24but also maybe, perhaps, as well, a slightly more updated paint scheme.
02:28One of the initial issues I had with Billy Chapman was the paint seemed a little more muddier.
02:32From what I've seen, and I've only seen the clamshell release of him once at a comic book store,
02:37his face did seem like it was a little bit more sharper in features.
02:41I never, though, got the chance to pick that one up.
02:43I kind of really regret that I never grabbed that second release of Billy Chapman.
02:46Either way, though, it seemed like the accessories are going to be the exact same between the two.
02:50The figure, first of all, does come included with his axe.
02:52Now, we'll say, though, that the axe, while having good sufficient amounts of blood on this,
02:56I don't think it's the most screen accurate.
02:58From what I've seen, obviously, I've seen the movie several times, it's an annual watch for me,
03:01the handle tends to be more of a reddish color than what we're getting treated here.
03:05The head of the axe also seems more of a black blade
03:08rather than the more gunmetal silver that we get here instead.
03:10I do appreciate, though, at least for the fact that there's blood on this,
03:13I'm sure this is just before he's going to cut the head off the top of the snowman.
03:17Now, I did want to bring in, though, the one that we got here from Ricky Caldwell.
03:20Between the two, I feel like Ricky's is a more superior looking axe.
03:24Even though, a lot of times, this guy is really being relegated to the packaging,
03:27I only tend to really bring them out when it comes to Christmas time,
03:30and a lot of times after that, I usually just put them back in the box.
03:33So, the one that we get, actually, for Ricky, most of the time is the one I end up displaying with Billy,
03:37just because I think it looks a little bit more screen accurate,
03:39from the black blade down to the red handle.
03:41Billy's, though, I don't think looks as accurate.
03:43Other than that, it's nice to include the fact that we actually get ourselves...
03:46We don't get the box cutter.
03:47I would have liked if we could have actually got ourselves the box cutter,
03:49but at least we get ourselves the axe.
03:52The figure, also, as well, over here, does come included with a Santa's hat.
03:55Now, you can obviously display the figure with or without the hat.
03:57It completes, obviously, the more look of the killer, if you have the Santa hat on top of his head.
04:01This can be effectively pulled off, if you actually look at the way they've sculpted the head.
04:05If you look at the way that they've designed the hat here,
04:08see how there's sort of an indentation right here?
04:10That lines up, basically.
04:12So, when you're putting it down, you're basically going to want to put it on an angle,
04:15and it sits sort of to contour the lines of his wig.
04:19Now, it's not friction-forced.
04:21I mean, I don't think it'll survive...
04:22Oh, will it?
04:23Oh, that's a Christmas miracle.
04:24Normally, it doesn't survive the blizzard test.
04:26It's just more of a case...
04:27I guess the more pressure you push down on it,
04:30the better of a job the hat seems to stay on top of his head.
04:33Obviously, it does finish the look, though, better here of Billy Chapman.
04:36I don't know how anyone would mistake this guy for the true Santa.
04:39He only really has the beard when he's actually sitting down with the kids in Iris' toy shop.
04:43After that, the beard is always down.
04:46How would you ever really look at this guy and mistake him for old Saint Nick?
04:49The sculpt for the face is really good.
04:51I think it does look like actor Robert Brian Wilson,
04:54who, of course, portrayed the role only in that first film,
04:57and then, of course, Eric Freeman took over the mantle, so to speak,
05:00in a crazier role of Ricky Caldwell.
05:03The actual sculpt of the face is really done well here.
05:05Again, I have seen the clamshell release of Billy Chapman,
05:08which I do feel like the face is maybe a little bit sharper in details.
05:11Some, though, of the older retro cloth figures from NECA Toys
05:13tend to have a little bit more muddier paint.
05:15I think by some of the comparisons that we've looked at in the past,
05:18like the Re-Animator, for example,
05:20Herbert West had one of the more inferior-looking paint jobs.
05:23If I was to compare this with the earlier Herbert West,
05:26I would still say this is a better paint job for Billy Chapman.
05:29I would still love to get my hands on that clamshell release of him.
05:32Of course, he does have the beard there on the front of his face.
05:34Now, when you are moving his head around, a lot of times,
05:36what will end up happening is the thing that almost just ended up happening.
05:39The hat usually falls off a lot.
05:42The actual beard itself is a very hard plastic,
05:45so there's very little give in this at all.
05:48Of course, while I'm looking at Billy Caldwell, Billy Chapman,
05:51all I'm really thinking on the back of my mind, though, is Mr. Seams!
05:54Mr. Seams!
05:56Definitely have to get around to watching Silent Night, Deadly Night again.
05:59Let me know down below in the comments section if you guys watch
06:01Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 and Silent Night, Deadly Night 2,
06:04or if you only really choose just one.
06:06Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, we all know, for the ones that have seen the film,
06:09basically just a retelling of the first film, including all the original footage.
06:12Then it basically carries on after that with the exploits
06:15and the killer rampage of Ricky Caldwell.
06:18All in all, though, a good-looking head sculpt.
06:20It really gives me now a chance to go back and look at this guy again
06:22with a slightly more clear camera and better-looking lights.
06:25The actual body itself, unfortunately, is using the old retro cloth-style bodies,
06:29which means he has really little to no articulation here for the ankles.
06:33You can really move them up and down, but that's really about it.
06:36If we were to kind of take the hat off here for a second,
06:39and we just lift the beard up just a bit,
06:41he, of course, would have the Santa's belt all around his waist,
06:45but then he would have a Velcro jacket.
06:47Now, you can't completely take this off unless you took the belt off.
06:50Now, underneath that would be a pretty lean body.
06:53Robert's got a pretty muscular body anyways in the film,
06:56so the more leaner-looking Santa makes more sense.
06:59I mean, I don't think he necessarily needs additional padding, for example, in his arms,
07:02certainly in his body, because he's a little bit more of a muscular Santa.
07:05Now, of course, he does have the frills there down below here on his sleeves.
07:08He's also got a little bit of fur there on the tops of his pockets
07:11and the nice little trim that he's got around his jacket.
07:13The only thing about that, though, is with the Velcro, the way they've made it,
07:16I would have loved if they could have made the Velcro, I think, in red rather than actually black.
07:19I don't know how easy it is, how accessible it is to get red Velcro,
07:23but I think red Velcro would have blended a little bit better in
07:26because you're always kind of really seeing this black line right here
07:28where the jacket folds over on itself.
07:30Down below, of course, we've got ourselves some fur trim down at the bottom of his boots
07:33or just above his boots.
07:34And, of course, if we lift those up here, you can actually see,
07:37yeah, there's Santa Claus' boots right there.
07:39Bootsies.
07:40Boots.
07:41I'm going to get a naughty list for making up words here.
07:43But, like, the actual articulation is about the only thing here in the ankles that suffers the most.
07:47Everything else, pretty much, I can kind of get behind.
07:49I mean, he has the articulation where it counts.
07:51The only thing that's a bit of a bummer is the fact that this is an older figure
07:54and he is kind of really relegated to only just single hinges in his ankles.
07:58As a side note, though, I do hope that down the road we get ourselves another release of this guy,
08:02even maybe, perhaps, dare I say, an Ultimate release.
08:05Don't think it's that far of an idea.
08:07We did technically get an Ultimate release of the Minor.
08:10I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that maybe down the road NECA could release,
08:13providing, of course, they still have the licensing that is
08:16to not release an Ultimate version of Billy Chapman.
08:19And I'm sure they probably could then use the mold again
08:21and just use it to release a Ricky Caldwell.
08:23Oh, fingers crossed.
08:24In the meantime, though, let's look at the articulation here for Billy,
08:27the top of the head, of course, is going to be on a ball joint.
08:29You can only really move so much of the head.
08:31I mean, back and forth is about all you're really going to be able to get.
08:34Moving it up and down, you know, if you blinked it, you would miss it.
08:37That's about as much as he can actually do.
08:39He does have a waist swivel.
08:41Because he's not using the newer body styles for the retro cloth figures,
08:44you can't really move the body up and down like he does have a ball joint there.
08:47He does have hinges in his shoulders, so you can easily bring those out.
08:50You can bring them forward. You can bring them back.
08:52Good for cutting off the heads of bullies.
08:54Billy hates bullies.
08:56He has a swivel there in his bicep.
08:57He only seems to have a single hinge.
08:59Yeah, he only has a single hinge in his elbow.
09:01And his Santa gloves also rotate all the way around.
09:04For his legs, his legs split up.
09:06You can bring them forward. You can bring them back.
09:08There's a swivel cut there at the top of the thigh.
09:10Single hinge only for the knee.
09:12You have no articulation at all for the top of the boot.
09:14But, again, you only have just this.
09:16That's all you're getting here for the actual feet.
09:19By the way, in case you're also curious, I don't know if anyone is,
09:21there's also peggles on the bottoms of his feet.
09:23Oh, no peggles on the bottoms of his feet.
09:25Which, again, the newer retro cloth figures would also have them.
09:28Ricky Caldwell also doesn't have holes on the bottoms of his feet,
09:31just in case you're curious.
09:33All in all, though, a nice looking figure.
09:35You know, again, I got this one initially the moment
09:37Scream Factory dropped the announcement
09:39that they were going to be doing a retro cloth.
09:41I mean, I jumped right away to that site
09:43and I ordered myself the retro cloth release of him.
09:45Sure enough, he ended up being an exclusive.
09:48Down the road, he was released as a clamshell.
09:50More available widely.
09:52I mean, now he's probably going to be a little bit harder to track down.
09:54I did see him once.
09:56Once, at a local comic book store.
09:58I picked him up, I looked at him, I thought to myself,
10:00you know, I don't really have the money right now
10:02to start splurging, splurging on Christmas figures.
10:06But in hindsight, though, I probably should have gone back
10:08and picked him up while he was still available.
10:10Of course, sliding this guy over,
10:12and reaching off to the side here, bringing in Ricky Caldwell.
10:14I feel like we should also.
10:16I mean, it's probably a long time coming
10:18that we could go back and look at Ricky Caldwell again.
10:20Essentially using, yeah, the same bodies.
10:22The thing about it, though, with poor Ricky Caldwell,
10:24like if he hasn't had enough problems on his own,
10:26the fact that that figure still hasn't gotten a retail release,
10:29which we're probably going to be talking a little bit more
10:31when we look at the review of him,
10:33at the very least, at least his elder brother,
10:35his eldest brother, Billy Chapman,
10:37did see two releases, even though the one
10:39obviously we're looking at in this review
10:41is the one released by Scream Factory.
10:43Still, the accessory count is still pretty low on this guy.
10:45At the very least, you know, a box cutter
10:47I think would have come rather in handy.
10:49Again, at his disposal, the only thing he really has
10:51is Ricky's axe, which again, a lot of times
10:53when it comes to displaying this guy,
10:55I end up usually just displaying him with Ricky's axe
10:57because I think it's really the better of the two.
10:59You've probably been asking yourself,
11:01well, what's going to be displayed with Ricky?
11:03Ricky tends to be displayed with the gun.
11:05He comes with a gun, he comes with a gun.
11:07We're going to be talking about that obviously more
11:09when we look at him.
11:11You're safe now. Santa Claus is gone.
11:13Actually, not yet.
11:15As he's rotating on the rotisserie,
11:17you get one final look at what the killer looks like
11:19on the way off to the orphanage
11:21and killing that blasted Mother Superior.
11:23Funny thing enough though is that
11:25while the figure does have a very lean body,
11:27they probably could have maybe given him a little bit more padding
11:29obviously when he's in there and he's killing Tommy.
11:31You can see that he's got a little bit more
11:33stuffing in his stomach area.
11:35I probably could maybe go in there myself
11:37and add a little bit of cotton balls
11:39just to beef him up just a little bit
11:41but I can kind of buy into the idea that
11:43he's not really supposed to look like a big hefty Santa Claus.
11:45Old Saint Nick, I don't think anybody
11:47would be looking at him and mistaking him for that.
11:49And yet though, Cindy sees Santa Claus
11:51walking by her room and still thinks
11:53it's Old Saint Nick.
11:55Of course, he asks her if she's been good
11:57and she says yes.
11:59Then proceeds to hand her the bloody box cutter.
12:01I really wish I was getting the bloody box cutter.
12:03You know, the figure itself does really need
12:05an ultimate release.
12:07And while I was kind of thinking that in between takes,
12:09I was thinking like, what would I include
12:11with an ultimate release of Billy Chapman here?
12:13I was thinking like the bow and the arrow
12:15obviously from Iris Torrey's shop.
12:17The box cutter also from Iris.
12:19Obviously the axe that we see here as well.
12:21I don't really think, I don't know really
12:23what else I would have included. Maybe the decapitated
12:25head of the snowman as he makes his merry little way
12:27up to the doorstep of the orphanage.
12:29What other accessories would you like to see
12:31if maybe NECA gets around to doing
12:33an ultimate release of Billy Chapman?
12:35Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:37Even though we are kind of wrapping up things right now
12:39for Billy Chapman, I feel, I don't know, I've got the itch in me.
12:41Don't worry, I'm going to get it washed.
12:43I think we're also going to be looking at Ricky Caldwell.
12:45Yeah, we're going to be looking at Ricky Caldwell
12:47also this week. So make sure if you're enjoying
12:49the content that you're seeing, yeah, hit this video
12:51with a like. You guys want to stick around for more so?
12:53I hope so. More festive stuff
12:55coming your way. As always,
12:57thanks for watching.
12:59Thanks for watching. See you guys
13:01next time.
13:13Bye.
