00:00Let's talk this out, tell everybody what you said with regard to what the Warriors need
00:08to do to even have a trade, the idea of a trade make sense.
00:12Well, you would need to show the organization that you're actually a real team and a real
00:17threat in the conference.
00:18And I said it a couple of weeks ago that they were in, quote, real trouble.
00:23I said it on the show and you and I went back and forth and you talked about a good start
00:27followed by a bad skid and which which team are they and all the rest of it.
00:32And I I do think that they are probably somewhere in between.
00:35But I look at a game like last night and I look at a roster that they continue to roll
00:40out there and I don't see them being one big trade away from being anything that can really
00:47be talked about in the Western Conference.
00:48So last night is, of course, a small sample.
00:51The Dennis Schroeder era did not begin very well and Draymond was terrible.
00:56Steph was no better and everyone was pretty much bad except for Andrew Wiggins and pods
01:01in garbage time.
01:03But I look at this team and I don't see them as one trade away or two big moves away from
01:08doing anything.
01:09So what are we even talking about here?
01:13We're talking about what is probably, in my opinion, and there's the only thing that actually
01:19makes sense, because even if I accept some of what you're saying, like, I want to do
01:25that real quick, OK?
01:27If you think the Warriors are too old, you're probably right.
01:33You're probably right.
01:34If you think that this isn't heading anywhere special, you're probably right.
01:39If there's no great move turnkey out there, you might be right.
01:45You might be right.
01:46Dibs?
01:47Like, hell, I'm going to try.
01:50I'm going to try because you know what else I think is probably right?
01:56You probably don't have anything right now on the roster that's really all that worth
02:02your time and freaking out about for 2028 and beyond.
02:08You really don't.
02:10And I try to say that repeatedly without it sort of like being offensive sounding to the
02:16likes of Jonathan Kaminga or Moses Moody or Brandon Podjamski or Trace Jackson Davis
02:20or anybody else.
02:23I just, that's my response.
02:26If you think there's not enough around Steph, then why are you so worried about giving him
02:31up because even though you're probably right, Dibs, you might be wrong.
02:38You might because we're also, we're reacting to something that doesn't exist yet.
02:43We're reacting to a trade or a series of trades that we don't know what they are yet.
02:49We're reacting to what we've seen though.
02:50No, but we don't know who that person is.
02:52What if it is more of a, of a, you know, I know you like Vujovic, don't you?
02:57Okay.
02:58What if it's more of a middling deal for Vujovic?
03:00But you do, you got to give up some assets.
03:02No.
03:03So you get Vujovic and you get Cam Johnson.
03:06Let's see what happens.
03:08Like here's what I would say.
03:10You're essentially throwing out there that this warrior roster needs to earn the right
03:17for the team to make a trade.
03:18Right.
03:19And my response to that would be Steph Curry has earned that for the last 10 years.
03:25He has already earned that.
03:27Even if, even if this is farcical, even if this feels like a Hail Mary, even if it feels
03:33stupid, even if it feels like it is something that could bite you a little bit down the
03:37road, that's, that's where I stand.
03:40They have earned it.
03:42Number 30 has earned the right for them to at least try to do something, gut the future
03:50for a Hail Mary.
03:51What future?
03:52Well, and that's where you and I disagree because you could talk about the future and
03:56we don't know, just like we don't know what the move would be.
03:59We don't know how much better Jonathan Kaminga will be, pods, TJD, Moody, the picks that
04:05you have.
04:06I have no idea what those will be.
04:08Those players could all get better.
04:11They could all ascend and be better players.
04:12I hope that they will.
04:13They should.
04:14And those picks can be actually winning picks.
04:17They don't all have to be James Wiseman and Justinian Jessup.
04:21They can be picks that actually land and are good players.
04:24I'm not even suggesting you got to give all the picks up.
04:27You know what I'm saying?
04:28Like you have to give up some picks and some players.
04:30I don't know.
04:31They got Dennis Schroeder for without giving up any picks.
04:33And how's that working for you?
04:34I don't know.
04:35Oh for one.
04:36Yeah.
04:37Oh for one.
04:38Okay.
04:39Can we say oh for one?
04:40I'm sure.
04:41Without being too like critical of Dennis?
04:42No.
04:43No.
04:44Last night was literally one of the more embarrassing games of the entire Steph era.
04:48Fourth worst loss in aware history.
04:49I mean, God, if there's ever, now I don't get it either off of a layoff.
04:54I don't get it either.
04:55But if there's ever a night to just flick the bug off your shoulder, that's it.
04:59I mean, this is only the second time they've been blown out this year.
05:04I don't, like, do you suddenly have thoughts that that's what they're going to look like
05:09going forward?
05:10How can you, after a week off, give that effort?
05:13I don't know.
05:14That to me is a bigger question.
05:15And we can talk about flicking off all we want to, you know, okay, flick it off.
05:19It's just one game.
05:20And you're right.
05:21It's one of 82, which is about 1.4% of the schedule.
05:25That's fair.
05:26But you're coming off a week break, you have a new player, you had a bunch of practice,
05:31and you go into Memphis and you got absolutely run out of the gym from the opening tip.
05:36You showed no effort, you showed no enthusiasm, you showed no offense.
05:41Draymond Green had no points, no rebounds, no assists, four fouls, and I can't believe
05:46he didn't get attacked.
05:47Stunningly bad.
05:48Which would have paid off my prediction.
05:49Yes, it would.
05:50And I can't believe he didn't get attacked.
05:51I saw the way that game was going, I'm like, oh, crap, Dibby's gonna be right.
05:55I couldn't believe it, because by the way, I'll be straight honest with the audience,
05:58I turned that stupid thing off.
06:00There's an NFL game on, I'm not watching that.
06:03I had two screens going, yeah.
06:04You were a waste of time last night.
06:07You were a waste of time.
06:10So I can go with you on that.
06:12I can absolutely play in the sandbox of, that was embarrassing.
06:18And I don't use that word very often in professional sports, because I think it gets overused.
06:22It's not embarrassing usually to, you know, like the 49ers this year.
06:27I don't find that embarrassing.
06:28It's frustrating.
06:29It's disappointing.
06:31The flow is a little embarrassing.
06:32Well, yeah, you know, like you're in a snowstorm, blah, blah, blah, like weird stuff, whatever.
06:37I don't find it embarrassing when other good teams with millionaire athletes outplay you.
06:43That's fair, yeah.
06:44Like the Ram game was not embarrassing.
06:46No, it was boring.
06:47They beat you.
06:48They were just a little bit better than you.
06:50Stupid.
06:51Twelve to six is a hard score to utter, but I don't usually use the word embarrassing.
06:58Last night, that's kind of embarrassing.
07:01You lose by 50?
07:03Yeah.
07:04That's hard to do in the NBA.
07:05And you're down by 57.
07:06Right.
07:07Like, it's hard for-
07:08And your best player, the best player in franchise history could not make a basket, and your
07:11Hall of Famer had no points, no rebounds, no assists, and four fouls.
07:16That's embarrassing.
07:17I'm interested in this concept you're bringing up, and I think we would love to sort of get
07:23a finger on the pulse of the audience.
07:248 at 8, 9, 5, 7, 9, 5, 70.
07:28Do the Warriors need to earn a trade?
07:31Do they need to play sort of, quote, well enough in order to earn a trade?
07:36And if they don't, then just stand pat.
07:40I will admit, I understand where you're coming from.
07:43Right.
07:44I really do.
07:45And I get what you're saying about Steph and what he has accumulated and what he's earned
07:49and everything he's done for this franchise.
07:51That matters when it comes to this sort of a conversation, but for me, when you look
07:55at heading to the deadline, if you're this team, then for me, you're not going to sacrifice
08:00your future just because Steph's been really good.
08:02I mean, look, put it this way.
08:05I'll move over to your side of the fence if we see a lot more of that over the next month
08:13and a half.
08:14I don't think we're going to.
08:16I don't think they're going to lose by 50 again.
08:18I really don't.
08:19No, but you've lost 9 of 11.
08:20You know, they were a 46-win team last year, and I'm remembering a game against the New
08:23Orleans Pelicans last year where something like this happened, and I can't remember what
08:28the final score was.
08:29Let me see if I can find it, actually, because I feel like it was sort of right around the
08:34same time of year, and I feel like it was here at Chase.
08:38Yeah, they lost by 36 on January 10th.
08:41There it is.
08:42All right, so it was a little later in the year.
08:43The fall of 17 and 20.
08:44There you go.
08:4517 and 20, and lost by 36 on your home floor to just kind of a mediocre basketball team,
08:54like an okay team.
08:55The Pelicans were okay last year.
08:57Another play-in team.
08:59That felt like rock bottom, and whether you liked the way it went from there, and obviously
09:05they didn't even end up making the playoffs, but from that 17 and 20 embarrassing moment,
09:11they became a 46 and 36 basketball team that had a shot to work their way into the postseason.
09:17This team has a better record than that.
09:20We'll see where they are after 37 games.
09:22Right now, they haven't played that many, but this team has been better than that team,
09:29and maybe this is their rock bottom.
09:31Maybe it is.
09:32I don't think they're going to lose by 50 again, but I'll move over to your ... I'll
09:36at least meet you somewhere over in your area code if the Warriors just literally lose
09:42almost every game, which is what they're doing right now.
09:45I don't think that's going to continue.
09:47The next six are at Minnesota, Indiana, a team kind of like you.
09:52The Lakers, the Clippers, the Suns, and the Cavs, and the Cavs are the best team in basketball.
09:56The Suns are also very good, and you've got the Lakers on Christmas.
10:00You go to L.A. to take on the Clippers, a team that is right kind of in the same range
10:06as you, fighting for survival.
10:08The next six games, to me, tell you a lot about who you are as a team as Schroeder starts
10:13to become more acclimated with the Warriors.
10:15Maybe.
10:16I mean, I don't know.
10:17What if you come out of there 3-3?
10:19Right.
10:20Then, for me, you're the same team that I said you were.
10:23Okay, and so that's not enough for a trade?
10:25No.
10:26I mean, you're an over 500 team as you move into the new year.
10:29We know that the Boston Celtics, three seasons ago, met you in the finals and almost had
10:34your number, and in late January, they were 500 team.
10:38Yeah, different thing, though, completely different team.
10:41That's a team that was younger and trying to find its way.
10:44This is a team where you've got your number one star, who's having the worst year he's
10:48had in 10 years, and your number two star, who's coming off a triple zero game, and he's
10:53already struggling with his physicality, and you've got a bunch of, like, for me, not
10:59nobodies, that's a little bit unfair, but you've got a bunch of, like, bit players behind
11:04your best player, who's no longer an elite player.
11:08Which I can tell you, every time you say that, my response is then, what are you worried
11:12about giving them up for?
11:14Giving who up for?
11:15All these middling players behind Steph.
11:17Why are you worried?
11:18Because these middling players might be better, and the guys you're trying to give up are
11:21guys who are young players who have more of a future than Steph and Draymond.
11:25I mean, I can fight your might with another might.
11:29Because we're assessing a roster that, in theory, would be different.
11:33If you add another one or two significant changes, we would have to reassess.
11:41You know, you could sit here and say, Steph Curry can't do it at this age, and I think
11:45I can respond to that and say, that's precisely why they need to go find somebody else who
11:49can take the pressure off of him.
11:51Well, they just did.
11:53No, not really.
11:54And that's one game.
11:5518 a night?
11:56Yeah, for a Brooklyn team.
11:57I don't think he's going to score 18 a night here.
11:59I get where you're coming from.
12:00I hope he gets more than five a night.
12:01Yeah, me too.
12:02If not, we got problems.
12:04For sure we do.
12:05Look, if anything looks like last night, they got all kinds of problems.
12:10But that's a start.
12:12But look, more is needed.
12:14The defense is going to continue to throw everything at Steph until there's another
12:19option that penalizes them for that.
12:23And I'm sorry, Caminga fans.
12:25He's not it.
12:27He's not it.
12:28And I don't want to sit here, and neither does Steph, by the way, for the rest of his
12:32career wondering what Jonathan might be someday.
12:37It's just not worth it to me.
12:39I've said this to you a couple of times the last few days.
12:42I'm willing to be wrong.
12:46If he becomes a wonderful player someday, and you regret moving on from him, and you
12:51did it in an effort to help your generational star, I'm willing to accept that.
