00:00Warriors and trades and Jonathan Kaminga and this comment from Anthony Slater on the roast this morning on 95-7 the game
00:07This is like information season right now for the Warriors on Jonathan Kaminga and not just for the Warriors
00:12It's for Kaminga to find out who he is in the league
00:14The Warriors need to find out the league needs to find out he has a contract situation coming up the trade market's gonna develop
00:21And you know, you might even argue it's not I think most people would argue
00:25They've waited too long to find out more about Jonathan Kaminga
00:28But I think Steph Curry and Ramon Green want to know for you know, several reasons
00:32Can he be you know all the way up to the playoff level like the type of number two?
00:37Score that they're gonna need to compete in the first or second round third round or you know
00:42Is it wiser for him to maybe go explore that elsewhere and hit could he potentially be a trade piece of the deadline?
00:47I think we're we are going to find out more over the next couple months partly because they finally, you know
00:52Let off the brake pedal a little bit and they're gonna allow us to all find out more about it
00:56Um, I I have a prediction on how this is
01:00This is all gonna play out because by the way, we are going to reach
01:04Brandon Iuke levels of exhaustion
01:07If every day all of us content creators out there are going to be talking about Jonathan Kaminga and Warriors
01:15Trades every day until February. What is it? 5th 10th? What's the summer in there?
01:21If we're gonna do this every day literally we're gonna ruin the holidays
01:25But I think that there's two separate conversations that are happening at the same time right February 6th by the very 6th
01:32All right. Yeah, good lord. We're not doing this every day. I
01:36to me
01:37Kaminga is part of sort of
01:40His own journey as we head toward February to figure out whether or not the Warriors
01:48Actually want to sign him long-term or if they want to package him to to try to do something to help them
01:54Down the stretch of this particular season
01:58meantime, I think there's something else that the Warriors need to do immediately and it's probably along the lines of
02:05What you talked about yesterday? I I really I would sit here predict today. I'd love for them to get Cam Johnson
02:13I'd love for there to be a big Brooklyn Nets trade
02:16But the reality is with all of the financial constraints and everything going on
02:21you probably need to do a smaller trade with the Brooklyn Nets and
02:25That DeAnthony Melton contract in exchange for Dennis Schroeder. Just what it's just too easy. It works too
02:32Well, and and and so I think you brought that up yesterday
02:35yeah, and I think I'm with you and just in terms of predicting that I I would bet that that happens maybe even here in
02:42this month of December and if that happens that would tell me that they believe that what they have on this roster is good enough
02:49to make a run and they may be right if coming is this player if coming is
02:5425 to 30 minutes of
02:57explosive wing and getting better if Wiggins is
03:00healthy and productive as he has been for the most part and then you have
03:04Steph and Dre and all the other pieces and you just replace an injured Melton with a
03:10Feisty Dennis Schroeder and you think okay, this is enough for us to make a run then. Let's go ahead and do that
03:17Let's do it early. Let's get it done
03:19And if you do use the Melton contract like you were talking about yesterday, that's a really good chip
03:24There's a lot of different deals
03:25But if you just want to do a straight line one for one
03:29Take our contract give us your body and let's go forward that would tell me that
03:34They believe in Jonathan Kaminga at least for this year. Let's go to Nils on
03:39The five freeway, hey Nils, what's cooking?
03:44Hey, appreciate you guys love the show. Thanks for doing it
03:47Yeah, man, thanks. Hey, I'm getting on the warrior talk. Have you seen the movie basketball? Yeah. Oh, yeah
03:53I'm a no on that one, but I but I know the movie I know it's talking about
03:57Yeah, I mean, of course, it's like a raunchy sort of B movie from back in the day
04:01But you know
04:01It's about these guys who start their own sports league and it all starts with this trope of the house
04:06Sports have kind of become corporate and it's all about, you know
04:10Team to change in cities, right?
04:12Like the Minnesota Lakers move into Los Angeles where they have no lakes and the New Orleans Jazz moving to Utah where they don't allow
04:18music but uh, yeah, I guess what I want to say is, you know, I'm more in the camp of
04:24Chilling out and not focusing on a big urgent trade people were talking about trading for superstars this morning
04:29And you know, yeah sure
04:31I can I can sort of hold my nose and open my heart to Dennis Schroeder kind of like I did with
04:35Chris Paul, but yeah, I'm definitely like a hard path on a big sort of blockbuster
04:42Showstopper trade and I'm into developing players of the long-term. That's what I want to cheer for as a warrior fan
04:48You know
04:49It's easy to say that with iconic stuff here on our team
04:51But I want to cheer for a team and get to know the people at community members and have them stick around
04:56Like big big hits on like, you know
04:58Drafting TJD and pods and you know people like GP to and loony like I want to keep them
05:04Don't put them on the table, man. Those are like my cousins here and you know
05:09Yeah, like it is his own journey. Like maybe maybe he'll be a better fit somewhere else
05:13You know, he I love seeing where when when air Congo takes off and then you know, I love that
05:18You know, it's great. But yeah, he has to go, you know
05:21I think I want to keep him too and see what happens
05:24But he's been supporting our brother through a couple of hard years and you know
05:28He lost his pops and all this, you know, I see him coming back
05:31But the main thing I guess I want to say is, you know
05:34I trust her and I'd rather see I'd rather see a team
05:37Develop with role players and hard work and grit and like the thing that they would benefit them more than any other trade
05:43Would be just a couple days in the gym shooting freezers
05:45You know what? I mean, and maybe take a vacation have movie nights together like build that team. So that's what I got for today
05:51I love y'all appreciate you Mills. Thanks, man
05:54throws and movie night
05:56I
05:57Feel like a JV team to me
05:59I'd love to hire Nils to coach my son. My son's 10
06:03I'm not sure about a Golden State Warrior squad, but I get where Nils is coming from
06:07He's someone that gets emotionally attached to players that are homegrown and that's fine. I think that's beautiful. That's wonderful
06:13I would just say to know we say this all the time. Your ideas are well taken
06:18I just don't think Steph Curry and Draymond Green would be too into him
06:22They're they're not they're not activated by the idea of let's hang out
06:26Let's just build people and think about the future and where it's going like they're desperate to do something
06:32This year or next and then I don't even really know how many more years there are of those two players together
06:38After that and so that's what that's what's in play here. Those two things don't always match up
06:44So I I don't know. I I get it
06:46Here's the good news for Nils if you're against the idea of a big big name trade with the Warriors
06:53I think you're gonna win because I just don't think there's a realistic play out there trades are hard
07:00They're very hard and even harder is the finances behind them
07:04The problem with Jonathan coming in a trade is that you only make seven million bucks
07:08And he is definitely better than a seven million dollar player
07:12So if you're shipping him out
07:13You've got to attach something else to him and the only tradable large contract the Warriors have is Andrew Wiggins
07:20So and I know what most of you would say and I'd agree with you
07:23You'd scoff at the idea of giving up both of them
07:27For almost anyone like it would have to be honest. You don't want to give both of them up for Jimmy Butler
07:33Do you is anyone raising their hand for that?
07:36coming to and Wiggins
07:38For Jimmy Butler, no, no, but but that's what it's gonna take
07:43Well, and as Grady was pointing out earlier if you do a four for one trade
07:47then you're gonna have to find other players to fill the roster and so you may not have the
07:52Financial room to even do that
07:54So for me the idea about a big trade is much more likely in the offseason than it is to do something at the deadline
