00:00Listen to this y'all. I got two things to say about this. This is Fred Warner
00:04Who did a guest spot over the weekend which hurts because it means the Niners aren't in the playoffs
00:10But he did a guest spot on NFL countdown on ESPN over the weekend
00:16Reaction one Fred is phenomenal on TV. Not surprising though
00:20We've seen him at a press conference and in a podcast
00:23But take a listen to what he had to say when that dude Brock Purdy's name came up
00:28Brock Purdy, I love you, man
00:31Thank you for being my quarterback last pick in the draft
00:34Nobody even knew who this kid was is our scout team quarterback in 2022 when we had
00:39Probably the best defense in the league and he's in there in practice with the no-look passes dicing our defense up every single week
00:45And I'm back there just pissed off. I'm giving it I'm giving it to him
00:48I can work and he's giving it back to me with the trash talk
00:50I mean when you talk about a guy who has the it factor
00:54Brock Purdy has had the it factor all along and it was only a matter of time when he got his moment
00:59He was gonna be prepared for it coming in against Miami in 22 and you know, we haven't looked back since
01:05Brock Purdy's made of the right stuff being able to create with his legs
01:09I think it all with a quarterback the thing that's the biggest
01:11You know deciding factor in elite quarterbacks or not is the processing speed
01:15How do you process the game when bullets are flying everything's on the line and being able to read coverages?
01:20Diagnose deliver the football extend plays and Brock Purdy does it all at a high level?
01:24And so you've got to be a very rich man soon
01:26I can't obviously walked off the field with a lead in overtime in the Super Bowl
01:31Which is something no one has ever done before and lost so that was going to be my next question
01:35Is there any doubt in your mind that he is the 49ers franchise quarterback going forward? Not at all
01:40I mean Brock Purdy. He's the man. He will be the 49er quarterback
01:46Okay, so he's getting interrupted a little bit there at the end
01:49But I want to make sure the quote was clear
01:51He's gonna be the 49ers quarterback for a very very long time with many Super Bowl rings
01:58Yeah, many red that's exciting
02:00And if you want to talk about all the quarterbacks in the history of the NFL who have many
02:06Super Bowl rings and I guess we'll count two as being many two more than one
02:10Although for me many get you up to three and I think there's only like five quarterbacks who have three or more
02:16But even if you want to give him one give him two for God's sakes Wow Fred
02:21That's exciting. And I do think that he has the ability to be a guy who wins a Super Bowl
02:26But you know going back to our earlier conversation it goes to what you have around you last year
02:33You had all your big-name guys all your first-name players
02:36None of whom got hurt and this year among your first-name guys
02:42Brandon hurt Christian hurt Trent hurt
02:46And so yeah
02:47If if Brock's gonna win one let alone many you need to have a year where you have the talent and the health
02:54You know, we also I think we spend way too much time
02:58talking about weapons
03:00When it's the quarterback you've used the phrase already today complimentary football and we forget that
03:08Defense is part of that too, right like a major part of that
03:11You want to look at why the Chiefs are the one seed?
03:15That's your answer
03:17Patrick Mahomes in his low quarterback rating the reason he hasn't taken any hits
03:23Through the media or through fans is because they keep winning games
03:27and if you look at the scores the final scores of their games they win their games because their defense is awesome and
03:33Patrick is much better in the fourth quarter than Brock has been I see that we get that
03:39but
03:40Again, the the the larger point to this whole thing to me
03:45Even those of you who are now suddenly down on Jordan lover Justin Herbert
03:50I firmly believe that those two guys they are they are part of the group
03:55They're part of the group that were that we're talking about. I mean, I should come up with the official list, you know golf
04:02Is a member of the group Brock Purdy is a member of the group
04:08I think Baker Mayfield is a member of the group Justin Herbert
04:13You're in the group for sure Matt Stafford. You're in the group. I think that Jalen hurts Jalen hurts is in the group
04:20Okay, I'm already gonna put Jaden Daniels
04:23Yeah, not gonna say Jaden has a look of him where he could end up in the other group
04:27He might end up in the a-plus line
04:29Not yet, he's played one playoff game held up pretty well
04:33I think Bo Nix may end up being in the group, but it's still too early
04:38CJ Stroud is another really interesting one. I don't know now
04:43What's your thought on him? Cuz see here's here's the dynamic that I'm sort of tired of
04:49CJ Stroud played Justin Herbert this weekend
04:53CJ won
04:55Justin had a way better year. Mm-hmm. He played way better football, but Justin's getting torched today
05:03CJ all of a sudden is like oh well now we like CJ Stroud again
05:08If I asked you which quarterback you'd rather have between those two right now, who would you take probably Justin Herbert?
05:14I say the same thing
05:15I mean if you're looking at all things considered equal and this is where I do think that we in the media and we as fans
05:22Really fall short of a fair bar because Justin Herbert
05:26He threw four picks and if you want to look at what he had
05:30he had a running game that was completely stopped by Domenico Ryans and company and he had wide receivers and tight ends who
05:37Struggled to catch the ball outside of Ladd McConkey and on the other side CJ Stroud
05:42benefited by short fields and
05:45Once they got the lead that game was over because the Chargers don't come from behind
05:50The Chargers are built like the Niners are and no
05:53Incidents, you know Harbaugh's kind of cut from the same cloth as Shanahan where you fall behind and your team is not built to come
06:01From behind so did CJ Stroud outplay Justin Herbert?
06:05Well, yeah
06:05Sure
06:06But his team did and it's complimentary football right and the fact that Houston was able to turn
06:11Justin over when they stopped the run that made life a lot easier on CJ
06:16I just can't take 60 minutes and make that my final end all be all yeah on my opinion on a player
06:22Who we've already seen we you can see it. Yeah, I just think you can see this stuff
06:29Jordan love had a day where if you'd never watched him before and you just landed on earth and you watched Jordan love yesterday
06:36You're like, oh
06:38Pass never mind, but we've watched him
06:42And he's still very young by the way Brock Purdy has started way more games than Jordan love
06:47I know that he's longer in the league and an older person, but he has less experience
06:53Than even Brock Purdy. That's a young player
06:55I just think when we all turn on our TVs
06:59you can see the guys who are the guys and you have to allow them as
07:04frustrating as it is to have bad games and
07:08Sometimes even seasons that look like they're not cuz Brock Purdy didn't have a bad year
07:13He had a worse year than he has had before. Yeah, but it wasn't like this awful performance by him
07:19I didn't think at least know you've got to allow for that for all of these guys
07:24I just think you know, what's interesting to me all of us sitting here talking about this
07:28Grandi used the word earlier this morning. He said the quarterback conversation in the NFL has become toxic
07:34Do you believe that?
07:36It's not the word I would use but I know what he's talking about and toxic meaning that no matter what you say
07:42There's a certain amount of a poison element to it for me
07:46it's a little bit more just annoying and I think Jordan loves a good example where
07:51They come out and they get the opening kickoff and they fumble in Philadelphia score
07:57So now Green Bay, they're kind of up against it not right away
08:00But it does change the way you go about playing football
08:03You're down 10 nothing at the half and then you get to the second half and you lose at least two offensive linemen
08:09You already were down your deep threat and now you're your offense is completely, you know
08:14Kind of decimated right two more receivers in the game
08:17They had already lost Watson to the torn ACL Romeo Dobbs got a concussion
08:22No, Jaden Reed. Oh, that's right in the third quarter. Yeah, and Jordan
08:26Let's not forget the last time we watched him just a week ago. He got hurt too. He was hurt
08:31So like and so your number one weapon is your running back who's been amazing
08:36But now you're down 10 nothing at the half, right?
08:38You're feeling like you're kind of chasing the game and you can't run in a ton
08:42And even if you do run it, you've got no wide receivers to really counteract that
08:47So we all want to look at Jordan love and go well three interceptions
08:50Turns out you're overrated and it's I do think it's too
08:54Shortsighted and we can look at Brock pretty similarly and we can look at six and eleven and we can all go back to three
09:00Games where you know Brock didn't make the mistakes
09:03You had Jordan Mason fumble you had the defense completely capitulate
09:08It was a capitulation sensation mark is what it was against the Rams and then against Seattle the defense caved
09:15So all three of those losses were not on Brock in my opinion
09:20So if Brock is not responsible for those can we say that he was nine and eight we can't we can have no we can't
09:27And we can have what I think is a fair Brock Purdy
09:32Conversation Brock has not been great in the fourth quarter of football games. I think that that is fair
09:38I think that's fair. Maybe not necessarily
09:41Going back to last year
09:43I know people want to point to that three-game losing streak and talk about things that he did in the fourth quarter
09:49They forget of course that in the first loss of that three-game losing streak Brock Purdy actually took them on the game-winning drive
09:55It was his field goal kicker who forgot to kick the ball between the uprights
09:59So I'm not gonna hold that on Brock. You want to go after him from Minnesota and Cincinnati knock yourself out
10:05I also don't forget the playoffs where he was behind in both games at halftime one of them
10:11He was way freaking behind and made play after play to bring his team from behind this year
10:18He was not good in the fourth quarter
10:19We can we can absolutely say that but I just think with all of these guys and and whether or not someone's overrated
10:26I don't know. That's about
10:29How you rate them? I don't know how you rate them going in to tell you whether or not they're overrated
10:34They're not as good as Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen
10:37That's what I have so far on Jordan loves CJ Stroud Brock Purdy Justin Herbert
10:43That's what I've got on those guys. They are not Lamar
10:47That's what I've got well and they don't have to be Lamar
10:49They're all worthy of the contracts and being the starting quarterback of good football team, right?
10:55And if you're a good football team that does that means you have good players around them and you look at the offense mark and
11:00They were 29th in the league in fourth quarter scoring and the only thing worse was their fourth quarter defense where they were dead
11:07Last they gave up almost 10 points a quarter in the fourth quarter
11:12So yeah, the offense was bad in the fourth quarter, but the defense was worse far worse
