00:00 Bella's brought the color but left behind the color. Here's a look at the

00:08 Dracula
00:11 [Music]
00:39 NECA announces a new ultimate action figure of the most famous vampire of them
00:42 all Dracula. NECA has created a special black and white figure that features the
00:46 formal tuxedo seen in Dracula's Carfax estate. Designers work closely with the
00:50 estate of Bella Lugosi to capture the actor's expressive likeness and for
00:53 additional background detail on important costume elements. Standing in
00:57 seven inch scale the ultimate Dracula Carfax Abbey action figure has removable
01:01 soft goods cape and comes with plenty of accessories. Top hat, cane, bat, flight
01:05 stand plus three interchangeable heads and hands includes an additional neck
01:09 piece making it compatible with the heads from the colored versions. Just
01:13 before we look at Dracula and all the accessories we'll find at the Abbey
01:16 let's grab the tape measure first and see how tall the figure stands. Well it
01:20 may look like it's just a simple black and white version of the colorized Bella
01:23 Lugosi we looked at from before. It in fact is slightly tooled in the
01:27 tuxedo. We'll talk more about that in a moment. Though the black and white Bella
01:31 Lugosi stands about seven inches in height or the figure is going to be
01:34 about 18 centimeters tall. Moving over the monster though to make some
01:38 available space let's bring in the colorized version of Bella Lugosi's
01:41 Dracula and while you can see the heads are going to be the same you can also
01:45 see as well that for the most part the bodies like the arms and legs are the
01:48 same. It is really though the abdomen or more the torso area that's very
01:52 drastically done differently. The pendant or the necklace they would have
01:56 originally had in the first colorized version has gone all together in favor
02:00 of just a straight bow tie and appears to be a pocket watch as well. Bringing in
02:04 some of his other colleagues of the black and white states here's what the
02:07 figure as well looks like with the Bride of Frankenstein we just recently had a
02:10 look at and if you can just excuse myself just I'm gonna get in there in
02:13 between the two of you let's bring in also as well the black and white
02:16 Frankenstein's monster a great way of displaying the figures. Most of the
02:21 accessories that came included with that colorized version get also carried over
02:24 to the one that doesn't have the color like for example he does come included
02:27 with the bat he still comes include the same three swapped out heads
02:30 interchangeable hands and the cape although the colors are completely gone
02:33 this time around. If you do grew a little attached I'm gonna just kind of
02:37 carefully bring these in for example the bottle the goblets the saucer and just
02:42 reaching off to the side as well the candelabra all of these that would have
02:45 been included with the colorized version of Bela Lugosi's Dracula are
02:48 unfortunately omitted this time around but like I said you do get the other
02:51 things as well I'm gonna just carefully put that aside not knock over the
02:54 goblets. The figure comes included with still the same bats the bat for example
02:58 does come included with the acrylic stand standee and then of course the
03:01 little circular base to the bottom of it this attaches just to the bottom of the
03:04 bat you see there's a hole very obviously on the bottom of the bats
03:07 belly so that's a lot of bees. Bringing in that's not apparently what a
03:12 bat sounds like bringing in the original bat so you can see they're very similar
03:15 in fact the one thing I really do like about the black and white release though
03:19 is that it does add some additional if I can get my hand there we go you can see
03:22 they've added some additional like highlights around the eyes in a way it
03:26 kind of makes it look a little bit more like a raccoon if you were to say look
03:30 at the original one for example let's get the camera to focus in can a camera
03:33 there we go the camera at least shows better on the colorized version that all
03:38 the little highlights are shadowing around the eyes wasn't on the original
03:41 release so there are a few little tweaks the molding seems to be the same shared
03:46 between the two bats but again just slightly painted differently for all
03:49 intents and purposes I mean you could use either either one of these bats for
03:51 displays or hey why not you could actually have both bats displayed with
03:55 say one of your Dracula's and again it just simply attaches on to the top of
03:58 the display stand plugs in place like that and then you can have the bat
04:02 displayed you would look at the base for example and think that the bad base is
04:05 not big enough for example to accommodate the bat but again like the
04:08 base and the size of the bat there's no teetering issues necessarily the bat
04:13 stays fine the figure comes included as well with his top hat now these these
04:17 are some of the things that are specific say to this figure is the fact he comes
04:20 included with the top hat the top hat is not the softest of plastics actually was
04:24 expecting it to be a little bit softer than what it is you could use it say
04:27 with this Bella Lugosi or if you wanted to you could bring back in the colorized
04:30 version you can also put that on his hat as well or on his head as well the only
04:34 thing I would worry whether it be the colorized or the black and white is the
04:38 flaking of paint that may occur the number of times you're putting the top
04:41 hat in place like the top hat for example I'm gonna grab the black and
04:44 white here if you to put the top hat on his head for example it sits fine I mean
04:48 really you could tilt it upside down it's not gonna go anywhere it's gonna
04:52 survive the blizzard test the problem with it though goes along is that I feel
04:55 like it's gonna start to damage the paint that they applied to like the face
04:59 specifically around the forehead area just because again like that's a lot of
05:03 friction and the hat is so close to the forehead for example I'm sure that's
05:07 gonna cause damage to the paint so I'm probably not gonna do that too often or
05:10 if I decide I want to have it displayed I'm probably just gonna pick one head to
05:14 do that say for example this one and always have the figure display with the
05:17 top hat just because again I don't want to you know I also feel like there's
05:20 probably gonna be leaving behind eventually a little bit of paint from
05:23 the inside unless they just molded this in the black plastic but still you got
05:26 to believe at some point it's probably gonna be leaving marks behind on the
05:29 forehead definitely don't want that to happen the figure as well comes in
05:32 clueless cane now straight out of the box he has already a designated hand for
05:37 holding the cane let me just look at show you guys the cane what it looks
05:39 like first cane is mostly molded here in black plastic with a little bit of
05:42 silver on the end of it looks very nice it can be displayed in his existing hand
05:46 he has sort of a hand that if you look at it kind of looks like he's more
05:49 pointing but if you have the hand down it actually can rest just between his
05:53 thumb and his pointer see that and holds fine I mean I don't want to be shaking
05:57 the figure around that much but seems to be holding the cane okay there is also
06:02 as well another hand that's also like this hand here if you want to have for
06:06 example the cane a little bit higher up then the figure can also hold the cane
06:09 that way as well and again just pop the hand just pop the hand off and swap it
06:13 around speaking of swapping around the hands the figure as well comes in
06:16 close to mauling hands one of the hands specifically does have the ring the
06:20 other hand does not but you can see they're nicely painted with an
06:22 additional wash of black over top of it really bring out some of those details
06:26 he also as well comes in clue with some relaxed hands again if you wanted to
06:30 swap those out what one thing you'll notice as well with the hands is that
06:34 getting this guy to the packaging he already has the gloved hands on so the
06:38 hands that we are looking at right now are clearly not the hands that have the
06:41 gloves these are just what is normal I would say normal his Dracula vampire
06:44 hands would look like underneath the gloves I personally like the gloves
06:47 myself and again if you wanted to you could never really stop doing that you
06:51 could pop those off you could in fact replace them with the bellows ago see if
06:54 you want to use the gloved hands because again they're using the same pegs that's
06:57 easy no problems there here's where I have one problem with the figure and
07:01 it's more my fault than anything else I'm gonna just move the batter the way
07:03 what problems what problems what problems the cape the cape is a nice
07:07 material that's not where my problem is it's a good weighted material too and it
07:11 does have a little bit of stretchy nature to it it's a very similar in fat
07:15 cape to the one that we did get from before the only thing about the original
07:18 cape is was all black whereas this one actually does have the silver on the
07:22 inside of it similar to again like the scene in the Carfax Abbey but I love the
07:27 the idea that they gave the additional silver on the inside of the cape or again
07:29 like the original cape didn't have that here's where my problem came and it's
07:33 all solely the responsibility of this guy admitting it right now it clips on
07:37 the back of the figures body the same way as the colorized version did and it
07:41 drapes very nicely also as well here's where my problem came I must have had a
07:45 little bit of fabric stuck somewhere or maybe I changed the head out I don't
07:49 know really what happened but when I decided to take the cape off one part of
07:54 the cape stayed behind I don't know if it got tucked somewhere here on the side
07:58 of his neck and when I pulled it off ultimately though I ripped the side of
08:02 the cape definitely didn't want that to happen I'm gonna see if I can find a way
08:06 to seam that so so that or even possibly even glue it in place that's my fault I
08:11 take full responsibility for that but unfortunately though just while taking
08:14 off I don't know what happened specifically but it just it ripped it
08:18 worked when I took it away from his head so I think probably some of the fabric
08:21 got stuck inside maybe his head and when I was taking it away I didn't realize
08:25 that some would stay behind and I ripped the cape in the process anyways the cape
08:29 I still would clip on and clips fine even though it does have a little rip on
08:32 the side and again I mean the way I have it right now you wouldn't even I guess
08:37 you could kind of see it right there but I mean you can't really even tell the
08:39 fact that it does look ripped and it does look really nice on the figure it
08:43 clips in a way that if you were to look at it for example there's a little lip
08:47 of plastic you see that right there I'm trying to put my finger underneath it so
08:50 you can see maybe that's one of the problems is the fact it tucks into the
08:54 collar like that and the whole idea is it's supposed to be that like that so it
08:58 stays in place maybe that was the thing that when I was removing it some of the
09:02 fabric got stuck in there ripped in the process really really bummed out by that
09:06 so I'm gonna see if I can fix the cape at least it hasn't ripped all the way
09:10 it's only ripped just a little bit so I'm gonna put that to the side and then
09:12 the figure of course comes includes some swappable heads as well all of the heads
09:16 by the way have very long necks or very obviously long necks these do all
09:20 easily attached by simply just popping off the existing head okay we'll do it
09:24 we'll do it we'll pop off the head and you really have to kind of feed the neck
09:28 all the way in there there's quite a lot of cavity before the head actually hits
09:32 the ball joint and then of course you got the smiling face and then you also
09:35 have an angrier expression of Dracula as well all of these head sculpts by the
09:39 way just happen to be as well the same head sculpts that we did get with the
09:42 colorized version so there's nothing really done differently here just same
09:46 sculpting still very nice sculpt on all the figures faces just the fact that you
09:50 you have this time around a black and white portrait instead now I think for
09:54 me at least I'm probably gonna have the figure displayed I think with a smiling
09:57 face actually you know be honest with all of these figures neither of them
10:01 neither of mine probably will have the figure display with like this head
10:03 sculpt I like it but I think I prefer the smiling face or if anything the more
10:08 neutral expression either one of these would be fine but in case you were also
10:11 curious - I did say earlier that if you didn't want to swap and change save for
10:15 example take these gloves off and put them on the colorized version you can
10:18 also do that say for example because again like this one does have the
10:20 medallion this one does not but what you can also do as well is if for example
10:24 let's pop the head off this guy we're gonna grab one of the colorized version
10:28 heads and because they work the exact same way and the ball joints worked it
10:32 works the same way and of course the sockets exactly the same as well you can
10:36 take the colorized version of the head and pop it in place now that this the
10:40 description online for this figure actually says that there's an additional
10:43 neck piece that accommodates the colorized heads I don't really think it
10:46 it doesn't obviously come included with one and I don't think it ever really
10:50 needed one either I mean because again like it works the exact same way it just
10:53 plugs in place making sure of course you get it all the way in there yeah now you
10:57 can get yourself a colorized version of of course him from the Abbey and then
11:00 you can also have the colorized version of just in the regular Dracula outfit
11:04 and have both figures display that way the only thing that really would be the
11:07 telltale is the fact if you just change out the hands but yeah if you did want
11:10 to use the gloved hands hey why not you can go that route as well now again we're
11:15 just for this gonna pop back in the neutral expression face there we go pop
11:19 that in place and bring back in the colorized version of Dracula so you can
11:22 see once again the tailed jacket seems to be identical as well as the
11:26 handkerchief placement is exactly the same if you were to say look at it from
11:30 just that alone you would look at it basically an exact same figure now of
11:33 course this one doesn't have the medallion this one has a little pocket
11:36 watch on the side they're molding them obviously differently the jacket is one
11:40 piece obviously to the vest so they wouldn't have re-sculpted say the vest
11:44 so they would have basically had to re-sculpt this whole piece just to again
11:47 include those additional features that the original one didn't have the back of
11:51 the jacket looks to be identical the placement of the buttons also seems to
11:54 be the same and the pants and the shoes are also identical as well so there is
11:58 at least some considerable changes enough that you're not simply just
12:01 looking at the figure and saying okay it's a black and white version of the
12:03 one that we did get from before no this is actually one of those exceptions to
12:07 that where we actually get ourselves a completely differently costumed
12:10 character and I like the fact that NECA decided to do that instead of simply
12:13 just giving us a colorized a black white version of this I don't know if that
12:17 means now that we're not gonna be getting a color a black white version of
12:19 this version of Bela Lugosi but even if we don't I'm fine for the idea that we
12:23 actually get this one from the Abbey instead now for the articulations can be
12:27 exactly the same the heads gonna be on a ball joint so it rotates all the way
12:30 around and technically as well the figure does have two ball joints he's
12:33 got one right here if I get my thumb out of the way my finger out of the way and
12:36 he's got one right here at the base of where that sunk inside the cavity so
12:39 he's got additional ball joint there as well arms come out at almost 90 degrees
12:44 there are a little more on the tighter side so I can get up almost 90 just a
12:47 little less than that arms rotate also all the way around that's the same on
12:51 both the sides figure does have a single hinge in the elbow that allows the form
12:55 at least to rotate back and forth and you can rotate the hands all the way
12:58 around upper torso is gonna be on a ball joint still the same I mean again like
13:01 this is all one piece that's basically over top of the ball joint so again
13:04 everything that moves moves together legs do split out there on ball joints
13:08 you can take the legs and move them forward you can move them back and with
13:12 that there's also a bit of a swivel at the top of the thigh the figure has a
13:15 single hinge in the knee that allows it as well the lower leg to rotate there's
13:18 ankle articulation back and forth and you can also rock the feet back and
13:21 forth this way as well I love the figure I really like the fact that this isn't
13:25 simply just a color just a black and white version of the colorized version
13:28 that we did get from before there's at least some considerable changes that have
13:31 been made for the torso so again if you like the Carfax Abbey version of Dracula
13:35 you get that and again if you wanted to if you have more than one Dracula's to
13:39 work with hey why not you can also again take one of the colorized versions of
13:42 the head sculpts and simply just replace it with this one if you wanted to keep
13:46 the gloves as there as his hands instead of just regular hands the moment though
13:49 obviously you start to change out these hands will break up some of the color
13:52 scheme it's not gonna look quite right so I'm gonna stick with I think the
13:55 gloved hands this time around the only thing I'm honestly still bummed about is
13:58 not the way the figure turned out but the way that unfortunately the cape
14:01 ripped it never was the case when I looked at this figure and it still isn't
14:05 the case with that figure it must have just been a whole bunch of things all
14:08 aligning all against me that when I plug this in place that little clip on the
14:12 back must have had that sitting in the collar and when I removed it maybe some
14:16 of the fabric was still stuck behind and it rips oh look at the rip right there
14:20 at least it what at least it didn't rip all the way and it was able to at least
14:24 the color came off before any more damage was done I'm definitely gonna
14:28 have to go in and see if I can fix that I don't know if I can glue it I really
14:31 don't like to have to add glue to any of my figures I like to think that none of
14:34 the figures ever get broken nothing luckily got broken and Bella except for
14:38 really just his cape and other than just fixing that a nice fine release from the
14:42 folks over at NECA toys now generally is the case with these universal monster
14:45 releases from NECA toys that when we do get the colorized version it's safe to
14:48 assume that months from then we're gonna be getting a black and white release of
14:52 it using the same body and in fact using many of the same accessories and I'm okay
14:56 with the fact that they decide to use all the same things that came packed
14:58 with one just carried over with a whole lot less color that has certainly been
15:03 the case so far when it comes to Bride of Frankenstein Frankenstein's monster
15:05 the wolfman I haven't included in that list the mummy because I don't have at
15:09 this point at least the black and white version of the mummy I will be picking
15:12 that one up soon so I can have that one displayed with the rest of Universal
15:15 Monsters one thing I do really like though is that they saw an opportunity
15:18 to do things differently here with Dracula while using yes the same head
15:21 sculpts times three and using still the same arms and still the same legs they
15:25 saw the opportunity at least retool a brand new torso part of the body so
15:29 instead of giving him just the medallion torso from before we get instead a
15:33 differently suited Dracula with a tuxedo from the Carfax Abbey I love the idea
15:39 that they actually saw an opportunity to use the mold and tweak the mold so if
15:42 you did want to have this figure display with the black and white for Universal
15:45 Monsters which that's the direction I'm gonna go with at least you could also go
15:48 the route of also changing out the head sculpts providing you keep the gloves in
15:52 place you don't ruin the illusion of the black and white regular skin hands for
15:56 the vampire Dracula if you use the gloves though you can easily use the one of the
16:00 colorized heads the three that we got with the other other release simply just
16:04 swap it out with the one that we get with this release and you can have in
16:07 fact two versions of Bela Lugosi on the shelf the regular suit version of
16:10 Dracula we always normally recognize when it comes to Dracula from the
16:13 original 30s film but you can also get the one as a well as the Carfax Abbey
16:17 release of Dracula and have two colorized versions of Bela Lugosi that
16:21 way but what do you guys think of the figure let me know down below in the
16:23 comment section and if you have picked up this figure let me know down below in
16:27 the comment section how you have them displayed do you have them paired along
16:30 with the rest of the black and white releases or have you swap the head out
16:33 for the colorized version and have two Bela Lugosi's in color also as well if
16:38 you guys certainly enjoyed this video want to hit with a like I still honestly
16:41 bummed by the idea that I had to rip the cape but at least from from what I can
16:45 see it's well you can kind of see like part of the collar is lifting away from
16:48 the rest of the fabric definitely gonna have to fix that I'm bummed by that I'm
16:52 happy with the figure if you guys certainly though wanted to stick around
16:54 on this channel because there definitely be a lot more Necker reviews coming your
16:57 way but yes hit that like if you enjoyed the video hit the subscribe if you want
17:01 to stick around for more and turn on the bell notification so you can get those
17:04 reminders every single time a new video gets posted also if you have a little
17:08 bit of time on your hands popping up at the very end of this video will be not
17:10 only one playlist for Necker toys but a secondary playlist for all the universal
17:14 figures that I've looked at across the board here on this channel it's
17:17 definitely if you have a little bit of time check out those playlists and of
17:20 course as always guys thanks for watching see you guys next time
17:25 you
17:28 you
