00:00 Do you like to sidestep, Sidney? Here's your spooky spot on the Spirit Halloween
00:05 Scream Ghost Face Sidestepper.
00:09 [Music]
00:29 Love a good scary movie? Make it clear when you get this officially licensed
00:34 Ghost Face Sidestepper. Watch as Ghost Face comes to life and slashes his way
00:38 through Halloween, terrifying your friends, family and neighbors. For true
00:42 horror fans, this decoration is a must-have. Everybody likes a good scream
00:46 on Halloween and if you are interested to get the Sidestepper Ghost Face for
00:50 yourself, it is available over on Spirit Halloween's site for $32.99 or if you're
00:54 lucky enough to have a Spirit Halloween store in your area. They're more close to
00:57 about the $45 price point. We're gonna go ahead and grab the tape measure and
01:01 also in a second I'll be bringing the other two Sidesteppers we've looked at
01:04 before and you can see the differences between the three. Ghost Face, though,
01:08 stands exactly 10 inches in height or the Sidestepper is gonna be about 26
01:13 centimeters tall. I seem to have some sick fascination with these things.
01:17 Having already looked at the earlier Leather Face from Texas Chainsaw Massacre
01:21 and even earlier from that, we also had a look at Sam from Trick or Treat. Now of
01:26 course all the figures are gonna have the same build of bodies even though
01:28 they're wearing a completely different clothing. The frames inside and the way
01:32 they move are exactly the same to one another. What's also the same with the
01:36 three is the way that they're powered. All three of them do require three AAA
01:39 batteries and if you order these online the likelihood though that small little
01:43 hands haven't been touching that button repeatedly are probably a lot better. If
01:47 though you found these in stores it's always best to probably check and make
01:50 sure that the batteries are still working but you can always easily then
01:53 change the batteries. They're located on the palms of the feet. Let's go ahead and
01:56 pick up Ghost Face for a second. You can see that you have to unscrew two
01:58 compartment plates. One battery is on this side and then the other two - actually
02:02 one battery is on this side and two is then on the other. This side is also the thing
02:06 that had the restraining plastic piece. I've already taken the liberty of
02:09 removing that but your on and off switch is actually located right over here. Once
02:13 it's switched to on as it is right now, all that's then required is just to
02:17 press that button right here. The very obvious one that says "press on and off"
02:20 just in case. Now when we had a look at Leather Face, funny enough though, they
02:24 actually had a little arrow there on his chainsaw. Just a point in the direction
02:27 of where you're supposed to press. Ghost Face doesn't even have a very obvious
02:31 arrow there on his knife. Instead what he has is just a very sharp
02:34 looking knife that has blood all around it. I'm not really a fan of the fact that
02:38 the way they sculpted the blade. You can see it's got sort of a
02:40 very bold outer frame to it instead of actually just making the knife flat. I
02:44 don't know why they had to sculpt it the way that they did. Why wouldn't they have
02:47 just given him a flat knife? Either way it's got blood though on one side.
02:50 It's got just as much blood even more so than on the other side. The only thing I
02:54 really don't like honestly, if I could be true about all this, is the fact that
02:57 Ghost Face has way too much blood splattered across his face.
03:01 And it's not even just splattered either. It literally looks like he's got some
03:05 head injury, some head wound, and he's trickling blood from the top of his
03:09 temple. I think it's ugly to be all honest. I'm sure I could probably go in
03:13 there easily with some white paint and I think I'm probably gonna end up doing
03:16 this. Take a little bit of white paint and just do away with the blood
03:19 altogether. I think it just first of all it looks a little obnoxious on the
03:21 character and I think it draws too much attention away of actually how
03:25 interesting the Ghost Face sidestepper may be. If it was just blood and if it
03:29 was just splattered in a few little selected areas it would be one thing. But
03:32 the way they've got it just trickling down his head I think is way too busy
03:35 for my liking. I'm gonna see if I can fix that up. Head sculpt wise it's actually
03:39 pretty good. I did press the button by accident. The hood though is
03:43 attached on the top so there's really actually no way to remove the hood. If
03:46 you were to look at it underneath though they've actually sculpted a head sculpt
03:49 underneath that. And of course usually is the case they just put the Ghost Face
03:52 mask over top of it. But there is no way to really remove the hood unless you
03:56 were to go up there and just sort of pry this. But you can see there's a good
03:59 dollop of glue on the top of it really preventing you from doing that. As for
04:02 the rest of the body the figure does have his cloak. He does have of course
04:04 the black gloved hands and wielding the knife in his other hand. The other
04:09 knife, the other hand is more just like a mauling hand. It would really be an
04:12 ideal if they had actually found a way to include the little voice box or even
04:16 a cell phone in his other hand because it just looks like his hand is meant for
04:19 something and it doesn't have anything. And then he has himself some fabric
04:23 booties that cover basically over top of a plastic frame foot. You can't feel this
04:27 so you have to kind of take my advice or take my word for this. Basically this
04:31 whole section here is plastic but if you run up the body like this whole back
04:34 section is a plastic frame but laying his arms are sort of these more spindly
04:38 parts because of course all this has to be able to move. By moving it is only
04:42 involved by pressing this button right here which again I've already kind of
04:44 done that too early. But if you press the button I guess it cycles what I could
04:49 imagine to be a good believable thing for Ghostface. I mean he doesn't really
04:52 have like recognizable music. I mean to be that to be fair also Sam didn't
04:56 really even have recognizable music that they use for his own sidestepper. But
04:59 what you're basically getting is kind of just noise. Noise, screaming and then you
05:03 can kind of hear some ruffling around. But obviously you probably will want to
05:07 see what it looks like. So we're gonna go ahead and press the button here and
05:09 Ghostface will move back and forth sidestepping after all and he's gonna of
05:13 course play the audio as well. Let's hear we go.
05:17 [Ghostface playing]
05:23 What I can only imagine if I'm trying to break down what I'm what I'm hearing at
05:28 least I'm sort of hearing like suspenseful thriller music or a
05:33 soundtrack in the background. Then I'm hearing what I could only imagine to be
05:37 slashing sounds with the knife and then a faint muffling of screaming in the
05:41 background. Is that what you all kind of gathered from the sound that we just
05:45 heard? You need another example of that? Okay. Pressing the button again.
05:51 [Ghostface playing]
05:53 I hear music. I hear screaming. But again what's the "whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh"? Is that the slashing of a
06:01 knife? That's my guesses at least. Now if you were to have say someone over like
06:05 younger nephews for example they're always prone to going up and pressing
06:08 all the things that you have set out for Halloween and you're worried that this
06:10 is just something you're gonna get tired of after a while. One good thing at least
06:13 even though it's very not long of a clip at all is that at any given point you
06:17 can also press that button again. That seems to also be the case as well when
06:20 we looked at the other sidesteppers. As easily as it is to turn the button turn
06:23 it on it's just as easy to press the button again to turn it off. So again if
06:27 you press the button you can press it off and I always think that that's a
06:32 good thing especially the longer these clips end up being. Now obviously with the
06:36 sidesteppers they're a lot shorter of a clip but I've really had some really
06:40 long experiences waiting for an audio clip to finish and really no way to turn
06:44 it off unless you actually go and switch this off manually at least with a button
06:48 there. I mean I'm obviously not gonna have this always there where it says
06:52 press on and off. I'll just remember really where what side of the figures
06:55 body I'm gonna be pressing but I like at least the idea that first of all it's
06:58 not very long and on top of that if at any given point somebody's going up and
07:01 pressing it just randomly especially if you were to if you were working in
07:05 spirit Halloween as great as the idea sounds of a working in spirit Halloween
07:08 during Halloween season you would imagine with the number of things that
07:11 are always going off in the store kids going up pressing the pedals to activate
07:15 the animatronic characters kids going up and I always keep saying kids adults
07:18 were doing it too I'm well I'm guilty for that doing it as well but adults
07:22 going up and pressing of things that round and cycle through audio you
07:25 imagine working there as a spirit Halloween clerk you're probably getting
07:29 quite tired of the sounds all the time but at least this one is short and this
07:33 one can be at least turned off and that's always a good thing as well
07:35 bringing in the other side steppers now I did actually pick up one other than
07:39 one one other one that we will be looking at an upcoming review that's
07:42 gonna be the Chuckie one they did also do some other ones as well I think they
07:45 did a Beetlejuice they did Lydia I think also as well they did a Frankenstein the
07:48 ones I was really the most interested in is the ones I'm actually more relating
07:51 to is kind of like again like Texas Chainsaw Massacre love Texas Chainsaw
07:54 Massacre love trick-or-treat love scream so the idea of a little tiny side
07:58 steppers I can have on my mantle although if I'm gonna be having them on
08:01 the mantle the mantel is only so wide so I'm probably not gonna have these
08:04 always in an on position just for the off chance that my daughter goes up and
08:08 starts pressing these buttons while they do sidestep only sideways there's
08:12 always the risk of course that they may side forward and end up falling off the
08:16 mantle I would not have not want to really have that happen actually
08:20 listening to the music that they decided to use for Ghostface it sounds more like
08:23 something I would expect to see or hear at least from Camp Crystal Lake the
08:27 slashing so to speak of what I'm guessing would be the knife sounds
08:30 actually more like from Friday the 13th and Jason Voorhees I guess that's what
08:36 they decided to settle on when it came to screams Ghostface I'm trying to think
08:40 of really what else I would have used it's not like you could actually have
08:42 used real music so of course in the background it's sort of just more like a
08:45 thriller sound of score and of course you got some screaming and slashing I
08:49 guess it it's okay ideally it would been good if they could have found a way to
08:53 include some audio clips of him saying like do you like a scary movie but I
08:57 guess that's not really what they're also doing here with the sidesteppers
08:59 it wasn't the case really when we looked at Leatherface it certainly wasn't the
09:02 case with Sam we're sort of getting more just kind of treated to generic music
09:06 but I guess it fits okay with Ghostface what doesn't fit though okay with
09:09 Ghostface is the quite unnecessary blood on the front of his face again where is
09:14 this wound coming from and how come no one's tending to poor Ghostface as it
09:18 looks like he's bleeding from the top of his head it is really ugly it actually
09:22 comes across more like zebra striping and it is really the first thing I'm
09:26 gonna do right after this review is actually go in there and find a way to
09:28 remove the paint I think if I tried to use a very diluted rubbing alcohol it
09:33 probably will just take some of the white paint off instead so I'm just
09:36 gonna take myself a paintbrush a little bit of white paint a little bit of time
09:39 I'm gonna get rid of that blood altogether if only there was like a
09:42 bloody version and then a clean version of Ghostface I would have gone more the
09:46 direction of the cleaner face because I just the mask looks okay it's the blood
09:50 is the thing that makes it it ruins it in a way that definitely needs to be
09:54 fixed and I don't know why they decided to go with a bloody version you can have
09:57 blood on the knife that's fine and good even though the knife is a little gross
10:00 looking a weird way they've sculpted the knife but at least the blood is
10:03 splattered there why wasn't it splattered all across Ghostface's mask
10:07 have you guys been collecting any of the side steppers from trick from Spirit
10:11 Halloween if you have let me know down below in the comment section which ones
10:13 you guys have picked up again we will also be looking at the Chucky that's
10:16 gonna be coming up in an upcoming review but that's where I'm stopping when it
10:19 comes to side steppers there were other ones they're available as well at Spirit
10:22 Halloween but I had little to no interest in getting a Lydia I was kind
10:26 of tempted to get a Frankenstein but I realized I had to stop my obsession
10:29 somewhere so I decided only just this year to get Texas Chainsaw Massacre's
10:33 leather face screams Ghostface and of course the Child's Play Chucky which we
10:37 will be looking at an upcoming review speaking of reviews if you guys enjoyed
10:41 the one that you just finished watching why not hit with a like if you guys are
10:43 loving the content you guys are seeing and you would certainly like to stick
10:46 around for more definitely it's still gonna be looking at some more spooky
10:48 related videos I know you're kind of looking at the calendar I'm looking at
10:51 the calendar right now actually I'm looking at a calendars from last year
10:55 but if you were to look at a calendar from this year you'd realize that
10:57 Halloween is only just a few days away still though we're gonna push forward
11:01 because there's still gonna be some spooky related content that I'd really
11:04 like to get up as close to Halloween as I can but if it may overlap well it may
11:09 overlap so it's definitely be a lot more content coming your way as always guys
11:12 thanks for watching see you guys next time
