01:21:55State police say the quick actions of a tow truck driver

01:21:58saved the life of a trooper early this morning.

01:22:00Tow truck operator James Gugino was called out around midnight

01:22:03to remove a car on Route 39 in Collins.

01:22:05When Gugino arrived, he found the driver of the car,

01:22:08David Beverly of Little Falls,

01:22:10using the handcuffs on his wrist to choke a state trooper.

01:22:13Gugino grabbed the trooper's baton and subdued Beverly

01:22:16until more officers arrived.

01:22:18The trooper, John Morrow, suffered minor injuries.

01:22:20The 57-year-old Beverly is in the Erie County Holding Center tonight,

01:22:23charged with drunk driving, resisting arrest,

01:22:25and first-degree attempted murder.

01:22:27A Batavia teen is dead tonight

01:22:29after being struck by a Conrail freight train last night.

01:22:31Police say 16-year-old Darrell Black

01:22:33was walking along train tracks at Batavia

01:22:35with three or four others when he was hit.

01:22:37A Conrail engineer says he applied the emergency brake

01:22:40and blew the horn when he saw the boy,

01:22:42but the train was unable to stop.

01:22:44Thirty people were arrested last night

01:22:47after Buffalo police conducted a crime sweep on the city's east side,

01:22:50the suspects ranging in age from 16 to 40.

01:22:52Buffalo Police Street Crimes Unit

01:22:54recovered about $2,000 worth of crack cocaine

01:22:56and $200 worth of heroin, as well as a revolver.

01:22:59The arrests come from information provided by neighborhood block clubs.

01:23:02Most of those arrested were charged with drug possession.

01:30:29Jim McMahon had some rough moments early against his former team, the Chicago Bears,

01:30:41and after the debacle against the Raiders, the Vikings get even at 1 apiece.

01:30:45And, Mike, let's turn our attention back to Kansas City, Houston.

01:30:48Chiefs looked like a Super Bowl team last week,

01:30:51looked like anything but without Montana today.

01:30:53How'd you do that? That's hard stuff.

01:30:55Well, I had notes, and it's my only marketable skill.

01:30:57The next thing I do if I can't do that is caddy for you at Battle Inc. in Chicago.

01:31:01That was great.

01:31:02Jim, I think it's a big win for the Oilers in the sense that I think that maybe

01:31:06some of the offensive players will start believing in Buddy,

01:31:08and I know it's only one game, and you don't want to get too wrapped up in that.

01:31:11Montana wasn't on the field, but yet they pitched the shutout.

01:31:14They did the things. They created turnovers.

01:31:16They stopped the other team from scoring. That's the key.

01:31:18I don't care who it's against or when it happens.

01:31:20When you can pitch a shutout and you can create turnovers,

01:31:22then you're doing the right thing.

01:31:23I think they'll start believing a little bit more in Buddy,

01:31:25and maybe they'll stop the bickering down there,

01:31:27and maybe all the players will say,

01:31:28so what if the owner isn't going to pay anybody?

01:32:11Mike Ditka, we heard what he said,

01:32:13that no chance, no chance for Dallas to get to the Super Bowl without Emmitt Smith.

01:32:17And let's also talk about somebody else who reported something to us.

01:32:20O.J. Simpson was on the sideline talking to Troy Aikman

01:32:22as he went into the locker room,

01:32:24and Troy said, we can't get him out of the double zone.

01:32:26Double zone is, we believe, Harper and Irvin are more of a threat

01:32:30than Lassik on the inside.

01:32:32Nate Newton told O.J. Simpson that we're an inside running team.

01:32:36Lassik runs outside.

01:32:38Emmitt Smith is an inside running team.

01:32:40We're trying to do things that we really can't do.

01:32:42One man forcing so many offensive changes

01:32:45as Buffalo kicking it off to Dallas to open their second half.

01:32:48And the Cowboys will take it at the 20-yard line.

01:52:47And that allows the offense more patience when he's here.

01:52:51When he's not here, you get less patience if you're the offensive coordinator.

01:52:55The net result is not a lot of time.

01:52:58He's such a huge factor on this team.
