00:00:00Cowboy fans trying to help this Dallas club at the missed 30-yard field goal, and now it's Sherman Thomas for 5 yards, as the Cowboys have had 10 possessions, and much like the pattern on Monday night against Washington, no long drives, they only had 3 possessions that lasted over 3 minutes at Washington, look today, only 2 over 3 minutes, and the last was the longest, nearly 6 minutes they held the ball, 10 plays, only to miss from 30 yards on a field goal.
00:00:31And that's one of the reasons why the defensive numbers of the Dallas Cowboys have gone down in this first game and a half.
00:00:36This defense is not used to playing as much on a weekly basis.
00:00:41Somehow that finds Pete Metzelaers, it looked as if it was intended for Carwell Gardner, they were running in tandem, and Gardner, who caught the touchdown early in this game, has a 13-yard pickup.
00:00:52The pattern is, if I throw it low, Gardner gets it, if I throw it high, Metzelaers gets it.
00:00:57At 6, 7 and a half, the bricklayer, Pete Metzelaers, gets it.
00:01:07Thomas, driving for about 3 across the 40-yard line, Robert Jones, and Dixon Edwards, the linebackers, in on the hit.
00:01:15You can see that the Dallas Cowboys defense there, this is the second week in a row now, they have spent, wrap them up, he's saying, wrap them up.
00:01:23But he admitted to it, they don't listen to me anymore. I'm not getting through to them.
00:01:27Well, it is, you know, every coach that has won a Super Bowl would parrot what Jimmy Johnson is saying to the reporters now.
00:01:34Metzelaers with flags down, a catch at the 50-yard line, the first down is.
00:01:40I mean, there's just that natural human instinct, you've won the big one, you come back the next year figuring, hey, I mean, I've won it, we're the best team.
00:01:47And then you're maybe not the best when you lose the top runner in the league, and the tendency is you don't.
00:01:53You're busy writing books and taking vows and going to parties.
00:01:56Tendency is declined, first down.
00:01:58Generally against Charles Haley, and by the way, Charles Haley's comment was, hey, when you win that, I said, you know, you won that Super Bowl,
00:02:04wearing a couple of them in San Francisco, and he said, well, you do kind of look around.
00:02:08Happened to us.
00:02:09Yeah, hey, we did a pretty good job here.
00:02:11I kind of like what we did.
00:02:12Kind of sat a little bit, enjoyed it.
00:02:15Meanwhile, every opponent, and there's a big play by Jimmy Jones and Russell Maryland.
00:02:20The two young tackles from Miami of Florida.
00:02:25Maybe the only way Dallas can get control of this football game is some kind of a turnover by the offense.
00:02:32Richer, 51, pulls Davis is out on Tolbert, and it looks like right around Parker, 74.
00:02:39Glenn Parker allowed Russell Maryland around there for the tackle.
00:02:43His first and eighth, the third by the Dallas defense.
00:02:48Jimmy Jones, who had that touchdown in the Super Bowl, a two-yard fumble return.
00:02:53Kelly to Brooks, and Brooks gets away from Larry Brown and fights for a first down.
00:02:58Dallas, 38-yard line, big play.
00:03:01That ball was there for either man, Brown or Brooks, to catch.
00:03:05And Brooks with a better hands-and-position at the end of the third period.
00:03:1010-3 Buffalo.
00:03:11We'll be back after these messages from your local station.
00:03:14Tuesday, it's the NBC premiere of the new school of fresh taste in comedy.
00:03:19Oh! Oh!
00:03:20Oh!
00:03:21Sabre the Bell, the college here.
00:03:22It's our new one-hour premiere, NBC Tuesday.
00:03:25Everything about the new Chrysler New Yorker seems to awe the automotive press.
00:03:30The revolutionary cab-forward design.
00:03:35The 24-valve V6 engine.
00:03:38Even the price, under $26,000.
00:03:43And what do we have to say about it?
00:03:48Chrysler New Yorker.
00:03:49The American luxury car is now in the fast lane.
00:03:52Let your Chrysler kill its dealer.
00:03:59When Jonathan made his debut into the Harper family, he arrived without any financial surprises.
00:04:04That's because his mom and dad had their health coverage through Independent Health.
00:04:09And while traditional health insurance companies will sometimes surprise you by disallowing parts of your medical bills,
00:04:15Independent Health doesn't work that way.
00:04:18Because we know you don't like surprises.
00:04:21Independent Health. Quality coverage you can depend on.
00:04:25If you have kids, you have a problem.
00:04:27A math problem.
00:04:28Let's say you make X and take home Y.
00:04:30Subtract your phone, electric and mortgage payments, not to mention the skiing, skating, guitar and karate lessons,
00:04:35and you're lucky if you can see a movie on your VCR.
00:04:38Now, throw into that equation your 18-year-old with college on his mind and nothing in his wallet,
00:04:42and you don't need a CPA to tell you that.
00:04:44You both run dry.
00:04:45What you need is a home equity loan from the fleet.
00:04:47Because unlike all those things that take more out of your paycheck, fleet equity loans take out less.
00:04:52Fleet. Whatever you make, they can make it go further.
00:04:55I'm Corbin Burns. You're watching Sports Extra on Channel 2.
00:04:59Telecast is presented by authority of the National Football League and is intended for the private use of our audience.
00:05:04Any rebroadcast or other use of this telecast without the express written consent of the NFL is prohibited.
00:05:10With Bob Trumpey, the Kimber, we go to the fourth quarter.
00:05:13A surprising score in a couple of ways.
00:05:16One, too high-powered offense is limited to a touchdown.
00:05:20And the fact that the Dallas Cowboys continue to struggle.
00:05:24And at home, they thought this would be the answer.
00:05:26Home crowd, other than Emmitt Smith, what's wrong?
00:05:32It's a profound reverse.
00:05:35And Thurman Thomas has to keep the ball.
00:05:37That was well read by Dallas, and Andre Reid just didn't get a chance to take the handoff from Thomas.
00:05:42As Norton and Casillas read it well.
00:05:45In fact, the last play of the third quarter, big catch by Brooks, 20 yards, when Larry Brown had a chance for an interception.
00:05:51Especially when you consider it's second and 18.
00:05:54Great confidence by Kelly to throw it into Brooks in that crowd, knowing he'll get it.
00:05:58Thomas Everett, a big tackler.
00:06:00Smith, a big tackler.
00:06:01And he's able to get the 20 yards in the first down to keep the drive alive.
00:06:05Second and long, Kelly eluding Colbert.
00:06:09And throws to the sideline for Thomas, incomplete.
00:06:14Wednesday, he looks pretty agile out there.
00:06:18Now, Colbert misses him completely.
00:06:20And was it Colbert?
00:06:21Have I got the right number?
00:06:23Yeah, it is Colbert.
00:06:2492.
00:06:25Misses him completely.
00:06:26Look at him.
00:06:27He keeps standing in there.
00:06:28He sees Casillas come.
00:06:29He is a tough man.
00:06:30Absolutely.
00:06:3133-year-old Jim Kelly.
00:06:3570 Vs now for the Dallas Cowboys.
00:06:38A trap works perfect here to Thurman Thomas.
00:06:42Third and 15.
00:06:44Here comes Haley.
00:06:46And he's got him.
00:06:48Jimmy Jones and Haley.
00:06:51But Jones is taking advantage of Kelly having to move up away from the outside rush.
00:06:58Fourth sack for Dallas.
00:07:00They had none against the Redskins.
00:07:03So, from the 49 of Dallas, that's no field goal on this up.
00:07:07An opportunity that presented itself earlier.
00:07:10There's Haley from the top.
00:07:12And they've got a tight end.
00:07:14Why do they have a tight end?
00:07:16Rob Awolf trying to stop Charles Haley is beyond me.
00:07:20I would not volunteer for that job.
00:07:23Chris Morris punt.
00:07:25Williams lets it bounce.
00:07:27And Tasker.
00:07:28Oh, does he save that?
00:07:30What a play by Steve Tasker.
00:07:32Is he about the best special teams player in the league?
00:07:35Many would argue he is.
00:07:37He had the block punt in the Super Bowl.
00:07:40Gets that ball.
00:07:41Not on the bounce.
00:07:42On the fly, mind you.
00:07:43This ball does not bounce.
00:07:45And gets it back in play.
00:07:47A very legal play.
00:07:48And now it starts from inside.
00:07:50Oh, my.
00:07:51My, my, my.
00:07:53Recently, we invited Mazda, Acura, Porsche, all car companies to compare their sports cars with our new Firebird formula.
00:08:03To see who can match our standard driver and passenger airbags, standard anti-lock brakes, and 275 horsepower engine.
00:08:11And do it for even twice the price of this new Firebird.
00:08:14No one could.
00:08:16No one.
00:08:17This is the new standard for sports car safety, performance, and value.
00:08:22I love this place!
00:08:24Do not adjust your TV set.
00:08:26You are seeing double.
00:08:27Two.
00:08:28That's right.
00:08:29Two great flame broiled burgers and two small orders of crispy golden fries.
00:08:32All for the unbeatable low price of just $1.99.
00:08:38I love this place!
00:08:39Now, only at Burger King, get three great tasting international chicken sandwiches with your favorite toppings.
00:08:45French, American, and Italian style.
00:08:48Try one today and get it your way right away.
00:08:50I love this place!
00:08:54You can combine wiener dogs and drag racing.
00:08:59Luge and bowling.
00:09:01Sumo and high diving.
00:09:05Even lawyers and rodeo.
00:09:07In fact, you can combine great taste and less filling.
00:09:11You can combine just about anything.
00:09:13But nothing can be combined with drinking irresponsibly.
00:09:17That just isn't funny.
00:09:18Miller Lite reminds you to please think when you drink.
00:09:24The NFL on NBC is brought to you by Pontiac and your local Pontiac dealer.
00:09:28At Pontiac dealer, we are driving excitement.
00:09:30By Kasparov Syntec.
00:09:32The synthetic oil that protects in ways other oils can't.
00:09:35By the American gas industry.
00:09:37Gas, America's best energy value.
00:09:39And by Miller Lite.
00:09:41Great taste, less filling.
00:09:42Can your beer do this?
00:09:47The hustle and presence of Steve Tasker.
00:09:49To be able to keep his toes in the field of play.
00:09:52Leap midair and back the ball back into the field of play.
00:09:55It's perfectly legal.
00:09:56Troy Aikman has to start from his three-yard line.
00:09:59Lastic, the lone running back.
00:10:01And the rookie gets the call.
00:10:02Fumbles!
00:10:03And who's got it at the one-yard line?
00:10:06Could be the game if it's Buffalo.
00:10:08That's two fumbles by Lastic.
00:10:09Am I correct today?
00:10:10Two fumbles.
00:10:13It appears the Cowboys have recovered.
00:10:15Yes.
00:10:16Cole.
00:10:17Jimmie.
00:10:18Johnson.
00:10:19Cheeks even redder watching that.
00:10:21From behind the offense.
00:10:23Who hits him?
00:10:24Jeff Wright.
00:10:25He strips the ball away.
00:10:28Lastic to his credit with his nose buried in the carpet.
00:10:31Able to reach out and recover the fumble himself.
00:10:34Look at the right 91 handle.
00:10:35Stepnowski in the center.
00:10:3653.
00:10:37Stepnowski.
00:10:38A wonderful defense from center.
00:10:40Just overpowered there by Jeff Wright.
00:10:47Cowboys.
00:10:50Second and ten.
00:10:52Lastic to fake.
00:10:53And the throw outside to Novacek.
00:10:55The tight end gets the first down.
00:10:56That's a big play.
00:10:57Dallas gets some running room.
00:10:59Out across the 15 is Novacek.
00:11:01A 14-yard catch.
00:11:03Beautiful play action fake by Troy Aikman.
00:11:07Six catches for the tight end.
00:11:09Watch what happens.
00:11:10You can see how Biscuit bites on the play action.
00:11:1297.
00:11:13Novacek out there by himself.
00:11:16Does pick up the first down.
00:11:19Gives him a little breathing room.
00:11:21Got to throw it to get the breathing room.
00:11:2714 minutes left.
00:11:28Fourth quarter.
00:11:29Buffalo leads by a touchdown.
00:11:3110-3.
00:11:32Aikman.
00:11:34For Irvin.
00:11:35With some room to run.
00:11:37But Jones runs him out of bounds.
00:11:39And tackles him late.
00:11:40That could be a flag.
00:11:43There was no need for Jones to bring him down
00:11:45He finally tackled him two steps out of bounds.
00:11:48But not ruled as a foul.
00:11:50Just a crossing pattern.
00:11:52Nothing real fancy.
00:11:53But Michael Irvin with that great size.
00:11:55That long stride.
00:11:56Excellent timing by Troy Aikman.
00:11:58Hits him in the middle of the stride.
00:12:00In at the sideline.
00:12:03He let him go.
00:12:04That's a legal hit on the sideline.
00:12:06Big pick up.
00:12:0722 yards by Michael Irvin.
00:12:09He has five catches.
00:12:1070 yards today.
00:12:12So from the 2-yard line out to the 37.
00:12:15Moves down to make some room.
00:12:17Took the right arm again.
00:12:19To the sideline.
00:12:20Complete again.
00:12:21Irvin.
00:12:22Out of bounds at the Buffalo.
00:12:2346.
00:12:25This is the Dallas Cowboy team.
00:12:27That terrorized the league a year ago.
00:12:30Yeah.
00:12:31Isn't this what the Washington Redskins did to the Dallas Cowboys?
00:12:35A few nights ago in Washington.
00:12:36A 99-yard drive.
00:12:37Look at that setup.
00:12:38Perfect weight.
00:12:40Nice.
00:12:41Delivery.
00:12:42Irvin.
00:12:43So big on the sideline.
00:12:44But he senses the defenders behind him.
00:12:46He just stands there making himself a little bigger.
00:12:50Absorbed that football.
00:12:52Beautiful receiver.
00:12:54Irvin with six.
00:12:55Now we're set for seven catches.
00:12:56Alvin Halperin has been cut out so far.
00:12:58He leads the big men in Washington.
00:13:01Classic.
00:13:02With two or three to about the 42 of Buffalo.
00:13:05And a chance for an NFL update.
00:13:07Let's go to Jim of New York.
00:13:09I'll tell you, Dick.
00:13:10Some people thought Boomer Esiason couldn't still play.
00:13:13But he's been red hot ever since the second half of last week's game.
00:13:16Here's the third quarter flea flicker.
00:13:18With Blair Thomas pitching it back to Esiason.
00:13:20He throws 46 yards downfield to Terrence Mathis.
00:13:23They couldn't score a TD.
00:13:24But the 39-yard Cary Blanchard field goal set up by that
00:13:27has put the Jets on top in Miami.
00:13:2917-14.
00:13:30Back to Dick.
00:13:33Well, Boomer and the Jets.
00:13:34The Jets have a reputation of playing Miami touchdown in Florida.
00:13:38Bumble.
00:13:40And it's taken to the 36-yard line.
00:13:43That'll be close to a first down.
00:13:44Marcus Patton made the stop.
00:13:46First down, Dallas.
00:13:47I don't think that was intentional.
00:13:50I mean, it did not look like it was intentional.
00:13:53He never gets it.
00:13:54Goes down on his knees.
00:13:55And you see the linebackers rush right by him.
00:13:57It's a good thing that Patton is there to make the tackle.
00:14:00There was no one there in the defensive backfield.
00:14:03Aikman has scrambled for 21 yards today.
00:14:06Lastic has 50.
00:14:09Well, maybe we put that play in.
00:14:11That worked pretty well.
00:14:13Time remaining in the fourth quarter.
00:14:15Buffalo 10, Dallas 3.
00:14:23Aikman with Jones on him.
00:14:24And he throws it out of bounds.
00:14:27There won't be a penalty even though Novacek was tackled
00:14:31by Cornelius Bennett because it was not a catchable ball.
00:14:34Aikman was throwing it away.
00:14:36You can see the signal by the official.
00:14:38You'll see from the left-hand side the strong safety.
00:14:40Henry Jones, 20 on the blitz.
00:14:42Johnston picks him up.
00:14:43And then he's just throwing it away.
00:14:45There's no way in the world.
00:14:46I mean, the plus side is you're protecting the quarterback with that new rule.
00:14:50The downside is there's going to be some contact on plays like that.
00:14:54And some people are going to get upset.
00:14:56But you've got to protect the franchise players.
00:15:00Buffalo's defensive scheme.
00:15:01That's the third time Jones, the safety man, has gone on a blitz.
00:15:05He wouldn't have done that with Emmitt Smith running the ball.
00:15:09Here's Gary Gaynor slipping outside.
00:15:12And the former Raider has about seven with a 28 of Buffalo.
00:15:17Nate Odom's coming up from the corner to make the tackle.
00:15:20Blitzes are eaten alive by screens, draws, and a great running back.
00:15:27And Emmitt Smith fits that whole package.
00:15:29The whole package.
00:15:30You can see that Buffalo kind of stays on the line of scrimmage here.
00:15:33Gaynor runs over Nate Odom.
00:15:38A good drive for Dallas.
00:15:40The linebackers out to the field and two defensive backs go in.
00:15:44So, Buffalo with six DBs.
00:15:50And third and a long two.
00:15:52Gaynor, big hole.
00:15:54And he falls forward at the 25.
00:15:56First down.
00:16:01Gaynor, 240-pounder from Florida A&M.
00:16:04Buffalo was late getting their defense on the field and deployed.
00:16:10You can see that Wright misses the tackle.
00:16:13And if he doesn't get a hold of it, Gaynor is still on him.
00:16:16Well, the tenth play of the drive coming up.
00:16:1810-3.
00:16:19This is about where Dallas was on the last possession.
00:16:22And moved a little tighter and then missed the 30-yard fielder.
00:16:25This drive started back at the two-yard line.
00:16:31They almost fumbled at two of the bills at the two on the first play of this long series.
00:16:35Gets a couple.
00:16:36Marcus Patton from UCLA.
00:16:38Lots of UCLA presence on both sides of this game.
00:16:41Patton grew up in Los Angeles.
00:16:44College walk-on with the Bruins as you watch Jimmy Johnson.
00:16:48A big offensive play.
00:16:53I think after the last attempt by Lynn Elliott.
00:16:59Again, we're in a four-down area here for Dallas.
00:17:03Take no chances with the kicker.
00:17:05Second and eight.
00:17:10First down to the 11-yard line before J.D. Williams can drag him down.
00:17:17Jimmy Johnson can taste it now.
00:17:19A tying touchdown.
00:17:21Irvin is a tough receiver, Dick.
00:17:23Big, strong, knows how to spread himself out.
00:17:27Watch him fight for extra yards.
00:17:30Hangs on to the football.
00:17:32Big play from big play players.
00:17:36Michael Irvin included.
00:17:38Seven catches to match his total on Monday night against the Redskins.
00:17:42Twelve yards away from a tying touchdown.
00:17:45The Cowboys with 7.47 left in the fourth period.
00:17:49Aikman to Novacek.
00:17:52No flag.
00:17:54Marcus Patton, in the eyes of many, appeared to be premature in the hit.
00:18:01Cornelius Bennett was pressuring Aikman to throw right now.
00:18:05You'll see the whole thing happen.
00:18:06Here's Bennett.
00:18:07Aikman rolls out.
00:18:09Boy, that's good defense.
00:18:12I mean, I don't know.
00:18:13If you're a Cowboy fan, you say he was early with the contact.
00:18:16And if you're not, that's good defense.
00:18:20He slides down.
00:18:22And the slower version, it appeared to be a penalty.
00:18:27Henry Jones asked to be taken out as Aikman just beats the clock.
00:18:32Underneath, juggling tackle.
00:18:35Just a little pullback circle.
00:18:37This time, good protection for Aikman.
00:18:39Although Smith does get in there.
00:18:41Stepnowski, 53, picks it up.
00:18:43Not a clean catch, but a catch nonetheless.
00:18:47Well, third down and three.
00:18:51Aikman to Novacek.
00:18:53No flag.
00:18:55Marcus Patton, in the eyes of many, appeared to be premature in the hit.
00:19:00Henry Jones asked to be taken out as Aikman just beats the clock.
00:19:04Let's see what they call here.
00:19:07Do they call a run?
00:19:09No, they got Johnson.
00:19:11They got the nickel package here.
00:19:12Three wide receivers.
00:19:14The dose counter was Washington.
00:19:17And Jones comes back in.
00:19:20Reverse, Kevin Williams.
00:19:22That's going to be a Dallas touchdown.
00:19:25You saw the shot at Jimmy Johnson three, four plays ago.
00:19:29And you almost sensed that he was setting up a play like that one.
00:19:35You saw the shot at Jimmy Johnson three, four plays ago.
00:19:39And you almost sensed that he was setting up a play like that one.
00:19:44Kevin Williams, a rookie from Miami, recruited by Jimmy Johnson from Dallas
00:19:50to go to college in South Florida.
00:19:53His first touchdown.
00:19:55And he's got it.
00:19:57By Jimmy Johnson from Dallas to go to college in South Florida.
00:20:02His first touchdown for the Cowboys.
00:20:05And here's the point for a tie.
00:20:09Lynn Elliott able to punch it through.
00:20:11And it's 10-all.
00:20:15It was well executed by the Dallas Cowboys.
00:20:19You'll see him come from the left.
00:20:22Nice little escort out front, Nate Newton.
00:20:26And that was a 98-yard drive.
00:20:29Wow.
00:20:32Lennox Lewis.
00:20:34Has never been a heavyweight fighter so powerful, so brutal, so British.
00:20:40Tea time, Mr. Lewis?
00:20:42Lovely idea.
00:20:43Jolly good chop to the head, sir.
00:20:45Did you enjoy that combination?
00:20:47Oh, yes. I'm certain I'll feel it tomorrow.
00:20:49Oh, you flatter me.
00:20:51See British boxing sensation Lennox Lewis take on Frank Bruno live only on HBO.
00:20:56So, will your mom be at the fight?
00:20:58She never misses a bout.
00:20:59Now, was that one long?
00:21:01Or two?
00:21:03This is the sports car no one could match.
00:21:06Not Acura. Not Mazda.
00:21:08Not even Porsche could answer our challenge to match Firebird's standard driver and passenger airbags.
00:21:14Standard anti-lock brakes.
00:21:16And 275-horsepower engine.
00:21:18For even twice the price of this new Firebird formula.
00:21:23Soon other sports cars will try to close the distance.
00:21:26And that's okay.
00:21:27But that will be then.
00:21:29This new Firebird is now.
00:21:32Hey, wait for me.
00:21:36Oh, what's that?
00:21:38Oh, fruit drink.
00:21:40Good, but it needs something.
00:21:42Oh, yeah.
00:21:46Let's roll this in here.
00:21:52New apple quenchers from Very Fine.
00:21:54Great tasting fruit.
00:21:56First quenching apples.
00:21:57Nothing quenches like apple quenchers.
00:22:03Next Saturday, one of college football's greatest rivalries is renewed.
00:22:06When the Fighting Irish battle Michigan State.
00:22:09Notre Dame football is home on NBC.
00:22:15It's going swimmingly here in the fourth.
00:22:19That's Kenneth Gant.
00:22:20He does the shark.
00:22:21It's Michael Jackson inspired.
00:22:24Maybe Sequest inspired.
00:22:26I don't know the spirit of our premier team.
00:22:29Maybe.
00:22:30But it took him forever to get to that dance, didn't it?
00:22:32Yeah, it did.
00:22:33He's been waiting a long time to use it.
00:22:35He's their special team star trying to rev up the crowd as well.
00:22:39They've been quiet for 60,000 plus here at Texas Stadium.
00:22:43But they've tied at 10.
00:22:456.51 to go.
00:22:55That won't be returned.
00:22:57Copeland sits on a 20-yard line for Buffalo.
00:23:01Six minutes, 46 seconds left in regulation time.
00:23:04What a drive.
00:23:0514 plays.
00:23:07Seven of them rushes.
00:23:08Seven of them passes.
00:23:0998 yards.
00:23:10The rookie gets the touchdown.
00:23:12Tie at a 10.
00:23:14Mixed nuts never give you enough of your favorite nuts.
00:23:18But new Fisher favorites are all favorites.
00:23:21Pecans, almonds, peanuts lightly coated with luscious flavors.
00:23:25Toffee, honey glazed, praline, plus large whole cashews.
00:23:31So.
00:23:32That's my favorite.
00:23:33No, that's my favorite.
00:23:35Every nut is your favorite.
00:23:36New Fisher favorites.
00:23:39Hi, Super Dave Osborne here getting ready to roll across the country
00:23:48singing the praises of these great-looking Hager wrinkle-free cotton pants.
00:23:52You know the ones, 100% cotton, wrinkle-free, out of the dryer, no ironing.
00:23:56I'll be covering more than 25,000 miles wearing these beauties.
00:24:00So come out and see me.
00:24:02I just wonder if Hager knows they're paying me by the miles.
00:24:06Uh-oh!
00:24:07Yahoo!
00:24:08Oh!
00:24:09Hager wrinkle-free cottons.
00:24:10100% cotton, 0% wrinkles.
00:24:12They're still not wrinkled!
00:24:18Hello.
00:24:19So, uh, what'd you think of that Bonneville? Did you drive it?
00:24:21Oh, that SSCI's terrific.
00:24:23Yeah.
00:24:24Supercharged.
00:24:25Traction control.
00:24:27ABS.
00:24:28Dual airbags.
00:24:29Leather.
00:24:30What a car.
00:24:31I told you.
00:24:32You were right.
00:24:33It's thousands less than the BMW or the Lexus.
00:24:35Well?
00:24:36I'm picking it up tomorrow.
00:24:38I owe you one, pal.
00:24:39Okay.
00:24:40I'll take a white one.
00:24:42Oh, yeah.
00:24:44Athlete's Foot.
00:24:46Many types of fungus cause it.
00:24:48To cure it all, you've got to kill it all.
00:24:50Today, there's Bronze Spectrum Lotrimon AF.
00:24:53It kills all types of Athlete's Foot fungus.
00:24:56Lotrimon AF.
00:24:57The cure that gets it all.
00:25:00Took 3 1⁄2 quarters, but Dallas finally with a touchdown to tie the Bills at 10.
00:25:05As owner Jerry Jones looks on.
00:25:08And look at the switch in possession time.
00:25:10Dallas really controlling the ball in the second half.
00:25:15And overall now, 30 1⁄2 nets to Buffalo's 22 1⁄2.
00:25:21Yeah, there's the Carwell-Gardner for four yards as Buffalo comes out with two tight ends in this situation.
00:25:27Russell Maryland and Robert Jones with a stop.
00:25:30Well, it's been a while since Buffalo mounted any kind of offense, Dick.
00:25:34We know that.
00:25:35I think this is their high percentage offense.
00:25:38Two tight ends.
00:25:39Big pullback at third and fourth.
00:25:41Two tight ends.
00:25:42Big pullback at third and fourth.
00:25:46Thurman Thomas.
00:25:49With a 29-yard line, a yard shy of the first down.
00:25:52Ken Norton, who had 19 tackles in the game Monday night.
00:25:56And much quieter today.
00:25:59Well, you have to admire this Buffalo team to come down in the heat and humidity.
00:26:02Second game of the season.
00:26:04And execute this hurry-up offense.
00:26:06This run to the line of scrimmage offense as much as they have.
00:26:11Short yardage.
00:26:13They've not converted a first down in the second half.
00:26:170 for 3.
00:26:18And they're 0 for the last 7.
00:26:20Kelly having trouble with his team hearing the signals.
00:26:24The crowd affected.
00:26:28And Thomas loses a yard.
00:26:31Ken Norton, 51, was in the hole.
00:26:35Does that sound familiar?
00:26:40Dick, watch 75, Tony Casillas.
00:26:43Across the line of scrimmage, he makes Thurman Thomas jump outside.
00:26:47And Norton is there to pounce on him again.
00:26:50Yeah, I do remember that.
00:26:52That does sound familiar.
00:26:53Ken Norton.
00:26:54Stumbling on Buffalo's chance.
00:26:57And that was perhaps the turning point play on the goal line in Pasadena when it was 14-7.
00:27:04Joe Warner has the punch.
00:27:06Buffalo 3 and out.
00:27:08Kevin Williams, the touchdown maker, has a return chance.
00:27:14Oh, that was close to being a fumble.
00:27:17But they do force the fumble.
00:27:19Who's recovered?
00:27:20Buffalo says, it's our ball.
00:27:23What is the official?
00:27:24Oh, my.
00:27:26Williams dodged one bullet when he avoided that slat from behind that he didn't see.
00:27:31But kept jitterbugging until Buffalo surrounded him and stripped him of the ball.
00:27:37Nick, Steve Tasker was the guy who almost makes the first trip.
00:27:41Watch 89 come back in your picture.
00:27:43Right there.
00:27:44He does hang on to it.
00:27:46Get on the ground.
00:27:48Oh, finally pulls away.
00:27:49Can't really tell.
00:27:52He fumbled a punt against the Redskins.
00:27:54It was critical.
00:27:57See if we can pick it up.
00:27:5853.
00:27:59It looked as if he was able to rip it away.
00:28:01Marcus Patton.
00:28:02And look who's right there to recover it.
00:28:04Tasker.
00:28:07What a big play.
00:28:08Ten-all tie.
00:28:09And the Bills almost in field goal range at the 34.
00:28:13Well, they are.
00:28:14Christie's kicked them from over 50.
00:28:16Drove.
00:28:17A pass.
00:28:18But no one opened.
00:28:19So, Thomas has to run it out of bounds.
00:28:22Now, that was a new wrinkle.
00:28:23Thomas has never thrown a pass in the NFL.
00:28:26But his man, Reed, was well covered.
00:28:28Didn't fool Dallas a bit.
00:28:30Kevin Smith, 26, stayed right with Andre Reed.
00:28:34Is that unbelievable?
00:28:35Nine fouls lost in 16 games a year ago.
00:28:38Dallas, as they protected it.
00:28:40Six fouled up in less than two games this year.
00:28:44Well, it will make a difference in the outcome of games.
00:28:47Just ask Buffalo.
00:28:49Here's Thomas protecting the ball and driving inside the 25.
00:28:53That will be close, I believe.
00:28:54A first down, depending on where they spot it.
00:28:57White on the 25.
00:29:00And they'll ask for a measurement.
00:29:03That's a bread-and-butter offense of the Buffalo Bills.
00:29:06They give the ball to Thurman Thomas.
00:29:08And basically, everybody maintains contact with the defensive guy.
00:29:12And they just let Thurman Thomas pick his body once they run it.
00:29:15And don't you think this is where that hurry-up offense, that kick on offense, is most effective?
00:29:20On a turnover play, teams have that natural tendency of defense.
00:29:23Here we are back out there again.
00:29:25And there's a little relaxing boom.
00:29:26They hit you with a quick play.
00:29:27Yes, except there's 428 to go in this football game.
00:29:30There is no reason for them to hurry up other than just personality.
00:29:33You know, you should try to conserve some time here.
00:29:36Even if you do score, you'll leave too much time for Dallas.
00:29:39Absolutely. There's no hurry here.
00:29:41But yes, the hurry-up does lock you into personnel.
00:29:46And it does kind of affect your concentration because you're never off the field.
00:29:52You feel like you never get a deep breath.
00:29:54Ben Elliott has missed a couple of field goals in this game.
00:29:56One from 31, one from 49.
00:29:59Steve Christie, if they don't make it, would be shooting about a 47-yarder.
00:30:03It's to the fullback, Nate Turner.
00:30:06255-pounder and looked as if he was able to wedge in there for the yard and a first down.
00:30:13Yes.
00:30:15And the clock will run.
00:30:17Four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
00:30:19Tie to 10.
00:30:20Dick looks like Carwell Gardner's hurt down on the field.
00:30:22He was the lead blocker on that play.
00:30:24There he is.
00:30:25And he attended too.
00:30:27Gardner who scored his first NFL touchdown in the first quarter on a 10-yard pass from Jim Kelly.
00:30:41Ball at the 29-yard line as the Buffalo medical crew attends to Carwell Gardner.
00:30:46We'll take this time out.
00:30:50I've been thinking about buying an American car.
00:30:53The GM MasterCard was a tremendous incentive.
00:30:565% in every purchase really adds up.
00:30:58I work hard at my job.
00:31:00You've got to make every dollar count.
00:31:02I love my kids.
00:31:03My wife and I are going to be the biggest influence in their lives.
00:31:06The 5% I earn with the GM card definitely saved me money when I leased my Pontiac Grand Am.
00:31:12Being a father changes your priorities.
00:31:14The GM card with no annual fee.
00:31:17To apply, call 1-800-8-GM-CARD.
00:31:19Psst. Come here.
00:31:21Kind of reminds you of the disco era, doesn't it?
00:31:25It's pretty neat.
00:31:26Very clever gizmo, I might say.
00:31:28I think it's an upper class of sneakers on the courts, I think.
00:31:31I load up, lace up, and I'm good to go.
00:31:34And all they see are these little lights flashing.
00:31:36You get to see the light before you go up and slam on them.
00:31:39Bam!
00:31:41I think grandma would like a pair.
00:31:43You've got to own the light if you want to own the night.
00:31:47♪♪
00:31:50When you buy a SuperColor TV antenna from RadioShack, you get a great bounty.
00:31:55RadioShack has everything you need to make installation easy.
00:31:58SuperColor's advanced technology gives you great picture quality and remarkable sound.
00:32:03Reception's so clear.
00:32:05Hey, great picture, huh, Howie?
00:32:06Uh, yeah.
00:32:08You may want to stop using cable and save monthly payments, too.
00:32:11You score twice.
00:32:13Great SuperColor antenna values for cities, suburban, and long range from $24.88.
00:32:17Only at RadioShack.
00:32:21Next Sunday, an action-packed NFL doubleheader.
00:32:24First, Barry Foster leads the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC Central showdown.
00:32:30Then, Bernie goes Army-Tollywood's new star when the Cleveland Browns tangle with Jeff Hostetler and the L.A. Raiders.
00:32:37The NFL on NBC next Sunday.
00:32:41We used to have a fullback back in the 70s for the Cincinnati Bengals.
00:32:45His name was Charles Boobie Clark.
00:32:47And, Carwell Gardner got Boobie back there.
00:32:50Running back, running back, and a blocking back, and a blocking back takes the bench.
00:32:56Fortunately, Gardner, off under his own power, appears to be okay.
00:33:00That's smart.
00:33:01First down at the 24, Dallas tied at 10.
00:33:04Thurman Thomas gets five on first down.
00:33:09Take a look at Thurman Thomas' total rushing and receiving in this game.
00:33:13Hasn't been a pass receiver much.
00:33:16Ticking down both teams with all three timeouts.
00:33:20Thomas has 73 yards, 23 carries.
00:33:25If you look at Derrick Lassick, that's over 50 yards the last we counted.
00:33:30Dick, maybe the most important stat there is the 23 carries, not the 73 yards for Thurman Thomas.
00:33:36That's 23 plays, you can give it to somebody.
00:33:39That's two catches.
00:33:41Here he goes again.
00:33:43Robert Jones, a middlebacker, meets him head on.
00:33:46And Thomas Everett jumping for a timeout.
00:33:49Dallas will spend one right here.
00:33:51It's tied at 10 in Irving, Texas.
00:33:54Let's go to New York for this report.
00:33:57All right, Dick, let's take a look at a match point from Flushing,
00:34:00really befitting the absence of drama in Pete Sampras' quiet destruction of Cedric Cornbread Peoleen.
00:34:06With the victory, Sampras adds the U.S. Open title to the Wimbledon championship
00:34:10he won before your eyes earlier this summer.
00:34:13Remains number one in the world.
00:34:14We go back to Dick Enberg.
00:34:17Cornbread, you pan the maze.
00:34:20Cedric Peoleen.
00:34:22Well, Pete Sampras, congratulations.
00:34:24That's the Wimbledon and U.S. Open championships for the 21-year-old.
00:34:28California.
00:34:31And here, where we're getting close to game, set, and match.
00:34:40You know what we need right now, a reminder about what's up on NBC.
00:34:43Hey!
00:34:44Is that good luck or what?
00:34:45Monday night, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Burt Reynolds will be his guest.
00:34:50And, obviously, Reynolds always a delightful guest, but there'll be more to the question than one might imagine.
00:34:56And then, I forget, Conan O'Brien debuts Monday night after the Tonight Show.
00:35:02On third down and short, Thomas is stopped after about a yard.
00:35:06He's a couple yards short of a first down.
00:35:08That's the second time out called by Dallas.
00:35:102.52 left.
00:35:12And Steve Christie coming in to try to hit a winning field goal.
00:35:16One of these engines was filled with Castrol Syntec, a synthetic oil.
00:35:20The rest with conventional oils.
00:35:22They were then drained and started without oil to prove a point.
00:35:26You see Syntec has a unique molecular structure that bonds to engine parts.
00:35:31Lab tests show it leaves a layer of protection far stronger than conventional oils.
00:35:36And if Syntec protects this well now, imagine if you leave it in.
00:35:41Castrol Syntec protects in ways other oils can't.
00:35:46A battered, exhausted Thurman Thomas leaving the field.
00:35:51The Buffalo Bills, after the recovery of the fumble by Kevin Williams on the punt, have it at the 22.
00:35:59And Steve Christie, their reliable field goal kicker, he missed only six times in 30 attempts a year ago,
00:36:05made his only field goal last week.
00:36:07This one from 35 yards.
00:36:11Across the border in Canada is a big hockey fan and a fan of Warren Moon and the CFL, Steve Christie.
00:36:25Right into the yogurt sign.
00:36:28And any flavor that tastes good for Buffalo for the moment, they regain the lead at 13 to 10.
00:36:36I think mine had peanut butter.
00:36:38Peanut butter.
00:36:402.49 to go.
00:36:42That must be a California tradition, peanut butter yogurt.
00:36:45Yeah, that's a great flavor.
00:36:47Have you never had that?
00:36:48It's on me.
00:36:49It's on me next time you're out on the coast.
00:36:51I'm more of a meat and potatoes guy, you know, being from the Midwest.
00:36:54Turnover story.
00:36:55So important that both coaches just preach it.
00:36:58Most every coach would say the single most important statistic.
00:37:02It certainly was in the Super Bowl.
00:37:05The Buffalo Bills and somewhat of a turnabout as fair play.
00:37:11Using the turnover today to have the lead for the moment.
00:37:143.
00:37:15As a matter of fact, Jimmy Johnson stated it prior to the Super Bowl.
00:37:19He said, we're going after the turnover.
00:37:22That's what we want.
00:37:24That was the night before the game.
00:37:25The night before the game.
00:37:26He predicted we're going after the football.
00:37:28Get the turnover.
00:37:29They did.
00:37:309 of them.
00:37:31Produced the win.
00:37:32Now the turnovers have hurt his football team in the first two games of the season.
00:37:36Again, it's the lack of focus.
00:37:38Just that little extra concentration of hanging on to the football.
00:37:42And don't you think it's also without Emmitt Smith, the younger players,
00:37:45trying to do too much.
00:37:46Sure.
00:37:47Lastic and Kevin Williams both fumbling today.
00:37:49No question whatsoever.
00:37:50Trying.
00:37:51A lot of people are trying to replace the performance of Emmitt Smith.
00:37:54Now the pressure will be on the Buffalo defense.
00:37:57Dallas will get its final chance.
00:38:00Oh, he's a terrific all-around picker.
00:38:02Doesn't give you a chance to return many.
00:38:05And Aikman will get it at the 20-yard line.
00:38:08Well, we asked Jimmy Johnson, what did he do after the Super Bowl?
00:38:11He said, I took five whole days off.
00:38:13Went down the Caribbean.
00:38:14He loves to scuba dive.
00:38:16Had this picture in his office.
00:38:18Swimming with sharks.
00:38:21There's an obvious segue here somewhere.
00:38:24I can't imagine what it is.
00:38:25Does it involve sequence?
00:38:28He loves dolphins as well.
00:38:30And a dolphin.
00:38:31Yes, he'll be glued to the television tonight.
00:38:33You know that he won't.
00:38:34I mean, this is one time tonight he won't be thinking about football.
00:38:378 o'clock, 7 o'clock here in Dallas.
00:38:40He's going to be watching.
00:38:41Secret.
00:38:42Secret.
00:38:53Darryl Talley makes the tackle.
00:38:54And Aikman, who was rushed off his feet in the first half,
00:38:57has had more time in the second half.
00:38:59And Irvin has been wide open in this half.
00:39:02And Buffalo also going with kind of that prevent mentality.
00:39:06Giving these receivers an awful lot of room here.
00:39:09That prevent victory mentality?
00:39:11Yes.
00:39:12In a lot of instances, that's exactly what it is.
00:39:14Again, wide open underneath.
00:39:16Novacek, about 10 more.
00:39:18Close to another first down.
00:39:20Talley and Jones with a tackle.
00:39:22Remember, Dallas has only one timeout left.
00:39:25Plus this timeout for the two-minute warning.
00:39:27Buffalo leads by three.
00:39:33Whoa.
00:39:34Sumo wrestling.
00:39:35Come on, we'll miss the high dive competition.
00:39:37High dive.
00:39:38Sumo.
00:39:39High dive.
00:39:40Let's watch both.
00:39:42Miller Lite presents Sumo High Dive.
00:39:45No.
00:39:46Yes, it's true.
00:39:47Here's a reverse, two and a half.
00:39:49Brought to you by Miller Lite.
00:39:51If you can combine great taste and less filling, you can combine anything.
00:39:54He's going for nose splats.
00:39:56It is huge, Bob.
00:39:59Some nice, some beer.
00:40:00Great taste, less filling.
00:40:02Can your beer do this?
00:40:03Coming September 24th.
00:40:05Face the pain.
00:40:07Fight the pressure.
00:40:11Feel the power.
00:40:13And get with ...
00:40:15the program.
00:40:16Rated R.
00:40:18This is hydroplaning in less than an inch of water.
00:40:21And they're being pulled by Goodyear All-Season AquaTread Radials.
00:40:25AquaTread's deep groove design channels water away as you drive ...
00:40:28for outstanding traction.
00:40:30Hydroplaning, AquaTreading.
00:40:32Think about it.
00:40:33The water on the left is being heated by electricity.
00:40:36On the right, by gas.
00:40:38For the cost of heating this much water with electricity,
00:40:42we'd like to show you how much more you can get with gas.
00:40:45And if your neighborhood doesn't have natural gas,
00:40:48you can still heat for less than electricity with propane gas.
00:40:51So no matter where you live,
00:40:53why settle for the water on the left ...
00:40:55when gas gives you all that hot water on the right?
00:40:59Gas.
00:41:00America's best energy value.
00:41:04Tonight at 8, 7 Central,
00:41:06an adventure for the entire family.
00:41:08The premiere of SeaQuest.
00:41:10Its captain, a man of compassion.
00:41:12Hey, kid. Good work.
00:41:13Its crew, the best the future has.
00:41:15And the most unusual.
00:41:17Farewell.
00:41:18Share the wonders of the future beneath the surface.
00:41:20SeaQuest premieres 8, 7 Central, NBC tonight.
00:41:24♪♪
00:41:27Lynn Elliott.
00:41:28He's missed two today.
00:41:30One from 49, an easy one from 30.
00:41:32His longest, 53 yards.
00:41:35Which means that Dallas would like to get the ball at least to the 35-yard line of Buffalo.
00:41:41It's currently at the 48.
00:41:43Jerry Jones and a lot of nervous Texans.
00:41:46Rooting for the Cowboys to rally in the final two minutes.
00:41:49They have one timeout left.
00:41:51They go against six defensive backs.
00:42:00And incomplete.
00:42:01Riding down the receiver,
00:42:03Michael Irvin with J.D. Williams,
00:42:05but the pass was not there.
00:42:09Imagine what it feels like on the field.
00:42:13Jerry Jones' exasperation there.
00:42:15What did I get in this business?
00:42:16The Cowboys were second to the 49ers in points scored last year.
00:42:20They averaged nearly 26 points a game.
00:42:23At this point, almost two full games into this season,
00:42:26they've scored a total of 26.
00:42:29That can't all be in the Smiths.
00:42:31It just can't all be in the Smiths.
00:42:33This is a changed football team from a year ago.
00:42:36Aikman's game six for 41 after a slow start.
00:42:39Now's the time.
00:42:40He's got it.
00:42:41And a push down at the 30.
00:42:42They're in field goal range.
00:42:46Well, the linebackers are playing very nonchalantly here.
00:42:51Novacek releases and watch.
00:42:5497-minute tally.
00:42:56Very nonchalant.
00:42:57Not much help there.
00:42:59Mickey Washington, an expert defensive back,
00:43:01finally making the tackle.
00:43:02Irvin and Novacek.
00:43:04Big days.
00:43:05Eight catches each.
00:43:06Movement.
00:43:07False start, I believe.
00:43:09It was marked two and eight.
00:43:12He's got Bruce Smith over him,
00:43:13but what did the defense draw?
00:43:17Jimmie Johnson taking a couple of flags off.
00:43:20Illegal snap on the center, number 53.
00:43:23Five-yard penalty, still first down.
00:43:25They always get the offense in that situation, you know?
00:43:28They always get the offense.
00:43:31Academic All-American and pro bowler Mark Stepnowski from Pittsburgh.
00:43:36A GTE academic All-American who was a guard in college,
00:43:40learned to play center in the pro.
00:43:43First down, 15.
00:43:45Gamus doesn't gain much.
00:43:48To the 31-yard line, where it will be second and 11.
00:43:52So, Gamus made the tackle.
00:43:54Now, Dallas has got one timeout left.
00:43:57Second down and long.
00:44:00Mickelpatch, a junior.
00:44:01He's forced to pitch defensive back to Buffalo again.
00:44:04Bateman, again, well-protected.
00:44:06Throw short.
00:44:07Looks as if he ran into his own blocker,
00:44:09and it was Bruce Smith.
00:44:11It was pushing that blocker right into him,
00:44:13and then filled it through and got a piece of the quarterback, too.
00:44:16They call that the bull rush.
00:44:18And Bruce Smith can do it.
00:44:20He gets to it right underneath the shoulder pads
00:44:23and just shoves him back into the chest of Troy Aikman.
00:44:30This is a career-high and pass attempt for Troy Aikman.
00:44:34That was his 43-43rd attempt.
00:44:37Goodness.
00:44:38Indeed it is.
00:44:39They're going to get him to this point.
00:44:45And there is Alvin Harper, his first catch of the game,
00:44:49and it's good for a first down.
00:44:51No catch.
00:44:52No, they're waving it off.
00:44:54They're saying no catch.
00:44:56Well, it's not very definitive.
00:44:58They've already moved the chain.
00:45:03And one official saw it differently than the others.
00:45:05Here's our look at it.
00:45:07Here's our look at it.
00:45:09That's a catch.
00:45:10Clearly.
00:45:11Well, and it doesn't come to him.
00:45:13No, it doesn't come up.
00:45:14No, that's a catch.
00:45:16Does not hit the ground.
00:45:18Tucks it in.
00:45:19Rolls.
00:45:21Now, the official saw that ball loose in between,
00:45:24but it didn't hit the ground.
00:45:26That's a legal catch.
00:45:27But unfortunately, with the absence of any instant replay,
00:45:31all you do is you get one chance to see it at full speed.
00:45:35It has been ruled a completed pass.
00:45:38The majority rules.
00:45:41Gary Jones couldn't agree more.
00:45:45Now, 48 seconds.
00:45:47The clock is running.
00:45:48One time out for Dallas.
00:45:50They're an easy field goal range to tie.
00:45:53Harper's first catch was for 13 yards on the third down.
00:45:56That was big.
00:45:57Gary Gaynor.
00:45:59And Gaynor to the 10th.
00:46:03That play call would make one think that they're setting it up
00:46:06for an easy field goal for Elliott.
00:46:08Don't take a chance on a pass being intercepted.
00:46:10They're going point blank range here for Elliott.
00:46:18Now Aikman looking into the end zone.
00:46:20It is intercepted.
00:46:22Intercepted by Matt Darby.
00:46:25Oh, my.
00:46:26Can you believe it?
00:46:27They take the chance on one final pass,
00:46:30and Darby has his first career interception.
00:46:34Dick, that's because Elliott misses the two earlier field goals
00:46:39from reasonable range.
00:46:41They take a chance to throw it.
00:46:43Darby with excellent coverage.
00:46:45It looked as if Darby had shielded the receiver.
00:46:48I think it was Novacek from the ball.
00:46:49It hit Novacek, bounced back, and Darby intercepts.
00:46:53That close to victory.
00:46:56And now the Dallas Cowboys are staring at 0 and 2.
00:47:02And so far, Jerry Jones' bet that the defending world champion
00:47:08Dallas Cowboys can win without Emmitt Smith has been proven incorrect.
00:47:13Turnovers, turnovers.
00:47:15Good.
00:47:17Just into the line.
00:47:20Oh, would you like to have a microphone
00:47:23in that man's presence the rest of this week?

00:48:03The Buffalo Bills with Dallas driving toward what seemed to be
00:48:07a certain tying field goal and maybe a winning touchdown.
00:48:11And the interception on the goal line by Matt Darby.
00:48:14Four Dallas turnovers today.
00:48:17The one by Kevin Williams on the front fumble set up the field goal
00:48:20that wins it for Buffalo.
00:48:22And now Jimmy Johnson with the longest jog any coach must take
00:48:26at the end of the game to congratulate the opposing coach
00:48:29on a defeat that is so, so difficult to digest.
00:48:340-2.
00:48:35The Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys start.
00:48:38And Marv Levy enjoys this.
00:48:42The Hager wrinkle-free cotton super play of the game off Novacek.
00:48:47Darby, the second-year man from UCLA with the interception on the ricochet
00:48:52and the Buffalo Bills, who had to live through the third straight
00:48:56Super Bowl defeat for the six months of the offseason,
00:49:00gained some sweet revenge in Irving today.

00:50:29then the much-awaited premiere of Sequest,
00:50:31the action-adventure from executive producers David Burton and Steven Spielberg,
00:50:34starring Roy Scheider.
00:50:36And now, we turn our attention right now,
00:50:38and the John Larroquette Show, which comes along at 10 o'clock this evening,
00:50:41followed by Wings at 10.30.
00:50:44Now, let's turn our attention to what has just happened
00:50:46between Buffalo and Dallas.
00:50:48The Cowboys dropped to 0-2.
00:50:50Mike, Jerry Jones would have to swallow a lot of pride at this point
00:50:53to allow the 0-2 start to affect his bargaining position with Emmitt Smith.
00:50:57Should he do it?
00:50:58It's imperative that he sign Smith.
00:50:59If he doesn't, he's making the biggest mistake he's ever made in his life.
00:51:02You don't build something the way Dallas built that organization over four years,
00:51:06develop it into a Super Bowl champion,
00:51:08score 50-some points on a defense a year ago,
00:51:11and score 10 on them today.
00:51:13They need help.
00:51:14They need Emmitt Smith back.
00:51:15They need the chemistry back.
00:51:16He better do it.
00:51:17For the moment, you discount Jerry Jones' argument about the salary cap.
00:51:20Totally, totally.
00:51:21There's a way to work around anything.
00:51:23Anything can be done in life if you're willing to work at it.
00:51:25The wheel is a great thing.
00:51:27If he wills it, he can make it happen.
00:51:28All right.
00:51:29We'll see if that happens in the next few days.
00:51:30Meanwhile, let's take a look at what has happened in late games this afternoon
00:51:33moving to Mile High Stadium in Denver
00:51:35where the Denver Broncos are leading the San Diego Chargers 27-17
00:51:40late in the fourth quarter.
00:51:42Rod Bernstein, playing against his old teammates,
00:51:45greets them with this 10-yard run in a scoreless first quarter.
00:51:48But then John Elway heats things up,
00:51:49finding Arthur Marshall on this 34-yard TD pass,
00:51:52made it 7-0 Denver.
00:51:54Later, with a score of 17-7,
00:51:56after the Chargers had gotten their first touchdown in 11 quarters
00:51:59and following a Denver turnover,
00:52:00the Chargers again, Stan Humphreys to Nate Lewis for a 24-yard TD,
00:52:04and it was close at this point at 17-14 Denver.
00:52:07But then Elway with a big play, third and long.
00:52:10Elway hooks up with Vance Johnson for a 47-yard completion
00:52:13down to the one-yard line.
00:52:15A play later, Rod Bernstein would take it in for the 24-14 Denver lead.
00:52:19Johnson, having been re-signed by Denver earlier this week
00:52:22after having been cut by the Vikings,
00:52:24a key figure in what is looking as though it's going to be
00:52:27a 24-14 Denver victory.
00:52:30For Mike Ditka, Jim Lampley, we'll see you next Sunday.
00:52:33And I turn my attention to Mike Ditka for a comment right now
00:52:37on what happened between Denver and San Diego.
00:52:40Well, again, I'm just looking at the game.
00:52:42I don't think Humphreys doing a job of quarterback.
00:52:45I saw receivers open today.
00:52:46I didn't see him get the ball to them.
00:52:48You know, they're not that good on offense
00:52:49that they can afford to overthrow receivers when they're wide open,
00:52:51and that's what I saw in the game today.
00:52:53Of course, they went up into Denver.
00:52:54It's not easy to win in Denver, and Elway had a pretty good day.
00:52:56But still, they could have completed a lot of balls.
00:52:58They could have had more pressure on Denver than they had today,
00:53:00and I thought part of it was his problem.
00:53:02All right, just to cover my confusion,
00:53:04we welcome those of you who have been watching another game,
00:53:06and we are updating scores from the entire day in NFL football,
00:53:10starting with the Bills' victory over the Cowboys
00:53:13and Denver having beaten San Diego.
00:53:15Let's take you now to what happened in Joe Robbie Stadium
00:53:17between the Jets and the Dolphins.
00:53:19Another thriller between these two teams
00:53:21who have a long tradition of having played them.
00:53:23And Dan Marino finding Keith Jackson down the middle at the 30.
00:53:26He goes 57 yards for the TD.
00:53:28Three long TD catches already early this year for Keith Jackson.
00:53:32Boomer Esiason leads the Jets back, though.
00:53:34In the first quarter, he locates rookie Fred Baxter alone in the left corner.
00:53:38That gives the Jets a 14-7 lead.
00:53:41Later, Marino takes the Dolphins down the field for the tying touchdown.
00:53:44Ingram outleaping Eric Thomas to complete a 25-yard TD.
00:53:47It was 14-14 at the half, but the Jets have dominated the second half.
00:53:52Boomer Esiason makes it 24-14,
00:53:54hitting Pat Chafee across the middle for a 20-yard TD.
00:53:57And Esiason, red hot ever since the second half of last week's game
00:54:01against the Denver Broncos,
00:54:03leads the Jets to a 24-14 upset win over the Dolphins in Miami.
00:54:07Pittsburgh goes to the Los Angeles Rams.
00:54:09Heavily favored the win in Anaheim, they get clocked.
00:54:11Jerome Bettis with a big effort for the Rams
00:54:14as Jay Leno was there for the coin toss.
00:54:17And Jim Everett finally had a good day,
00:54:19rolling right, throwing across the field to Troy Drayton,
00:54:22the rookie tied in from Penn State.
00:54:24Drayton follows his blockers into the end zone.
00:54:267-0 Los Angeles, first Ram touchdown of the season.
00:54:29It ignited the team.
00:54:30Later, Cleveland Gary takes the Everett handoff,
00:54:32picks his way through the middle for a 6-yard touchdown
00:54:35that made it 14-0 Rams.
00:54:37Neil O'Donnell with the sore arm, never able to get it going for Pittsburgh today.
00:54:41And here is Jerome Bettis, putting the game out of reach
00:54:43with a 29-yard touchdown run.
00:54:45First pro TD for Bettis, who had a big day running with the football,
00:54:49and the Rams wrap up a 27-0 victory over the Steelers.
00:54:53Now we take a look at what happened in earlier games today,
00:54:55starting with the Oilers wipe out of the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:54:58Montana did not play.
00:55:00The Oilers win 30-0.
00:55:01Dave Craig, two fumbles, sacked four times through two interceptions,
00:55:04had a horrible day in relief of Joe.
00:55:06Green Bay goes ahead of Philadelphia.
00:55:08Reggie White had a big day against his old teammates.
00:55:10But nevertheless, Randall Cunningham and kicker Roger Ruzek brought the Eagles back.
00:55:14Ruzek with a late field goal, wins it for the Eagles.
00:55:16They are 2-0 after the 20-17 victory.
00:55:19Phoenix got a much-needed victory in RFK Stadium, 17-10.
00:55:23Bigger story, the Redskins have lost Mark Rippon for the time being
00:55:26with a strained medial collateral ligament in the right knee.
00:55:28We'll learn more tomorrow.
00:55:29Tampa Bay travels to Giants Stadium, gets clocked by the Giants, 23-7.
00:55:33Rodney Hampton, 134 yards on the ground for the Giants.
00:55:37Indianapolis, in a field goal battle, gets a late one from Biasucci,
00:55:40beats the Cincinnati Bengals 9-6.
00:55:42Colts are 1-1.
00:55:43New Orleans, with a team record 557 yards total offense,
00:55:47gets a late field goal from Morton Anderson to beat the Falcons 34-31
00:55:51after Hebert had brought the Falcons back.
00:55:53Detroit has to go to overtime to beat New England 19-16.
00:55:57New England had an opportunity in OT, couldn't capitalize.
00:56:00Detroit got it on a handsome field goal.
00:56:02And the Chicago Bears, who led most of the day against Minnesota,
00:56:06saw their old teammate Jim McMahon throw a touchdown pass
00:56:09to Chris Carter in the fourth quarter.
00:56:11And McMahon pulls out a 10-7 victory for the Vikings, 10-7.
00:56:15Your old team, Mike Ditka, struggling early on.
00:56:17Coach Wonstad said that he thought they'd be in a lot of games,
00:56:20but they wouldn't necessarily win them.
00:56:21Well, I think he's right, that they've got a good defense.
00:56:24I mean, they didn't play defense with anybody as far as I've seen.
00:56:26They played very well on defense, but they've got to score points.
00:56:28They've got to have some continuity on offense.
00:56:30They've got to have some type of running game,
00:56:31although they did run the ball a little bit better today,
00:56:33but they've got to be able to score points.
00:56:35We have viewers who missed your earlier comments with regard to the Cowboys.
00:56:38You say they must sign Emmitt Smith right now.
00:56:40Well, unless they want to wipe their season off,
00:56:42because I think Emmitt Smith's the key to what they do offensively.
00:56:45All right, thanks very much for being with us.

01:00:03Good evening and welcome.
01:00:05For over 50 years, television has provided us with a window to the world.
01:00:11And during that time, it seemed there wasn't any place on earth we couldn't see from the comfort of our homes.
01:00:18And then someone invented the camcorder.
01:00:20And suddenly, a whole new window opened up into the lives of ordinary people.
01:00:25Allowing us to share their moments of triumph, achievement, and courage.
01:00:30Tonight, you're going to witness some remarkable stories of real people caught in real events.
01:00:36All of which, incredible as it may seem, were captured on videotape.
01:00:41We begin with the storm of the century.
01:00:46You may remember seeing pictures of it on the nightly news as it battered the eastern seaboard last winter.
01:00:52But what you may not have seen are the personal stories of the people victimized by this storm.
01:00:58Some of whom lost their homes, even their lives.
01:01:03For those of you who lived through this Nor'easter, the images you're about to see may bring back painful memories.
01:01:10For the rest of us, this storm is sure to increase our respect.
01:01:14For the awesome power of nature.
01:01:18Get your lights on! Let's go! And string a line!
01:01:37This is the worst Nor'easter I've seen in my lifetime in this area.
01:01:45What we saw with the storm was wind gusts probably in excess of hurricane force.
01:01:50In the New York City area, we were looking at winds probably gusting above 50, 60 miles an hour.
01:02:00But we saw flooding that was unprecedented.
01:02:04The FDR drive on the east part of Manhattan went underwater. We haven't seen that happen before.
01:02:15Even the subways, the water came tumbling down the staircases into the subways.
01:02:21It just got worse and worse. Unbelievable.
01:02:24Oh my God. This is incredible.
01:02:27But by far, the biggest damage we saw was along the beaches and the coastal communities
01:02:32where the flooding and the beach erosion was just devastating.
01:02:36Oh my God!
01:02:39Oh! Oh! This is so sad! Oh God!
01:02:47This was a storm the likes of which Connecticut had never seen.
01:02:53I stepped up the sliding glass door downstairs and waves were roaring up across the back porch.
01:02:59Waves just rolling up the sound downstairs here.
01:03:03Rolling up the downstairs here.
01:03:08Oh no! Damn.
01:03:10I ducked in and slammed the door shut and went running in the room and the waves really started hitting the windows.
01:03:17Downstairs. And what a view it is. Wow.
01:03:21It's amazing. It's like you're in a ship and the waves are crashing around you.
01:03:26This window's a bit dust already. I think it's going to come in.
01:03:30And you can see the window flexing and each progressive wave is throwing debris against it.
01:03:36Things aren't getting any better down here.
01:03:39And finally, boom, one just flew out the windows.
01:03:46Glass went flying all over. Water came rushing across the room and I jammed the door shut with my left hand.
01:03:52The waves were getting higher and higher and you could feel the house shaking.
01:03:57I'm going to have to get upstairs.
01:03:58At this point, I was very concerned for my safety so I grabbed the video camera and ran upstairs.
01:04:05Oh God!
01:04:10I'm standing on the second floor as these waves were crashing up over my head.
01:04:15It was amazing to see the change that can happen overnight.
01:04:22And to think back to the good times that we had just a few short months ago where we were windsurfing and fishing and enjoying nice beach days.
01:04:32We certainly experienced a lot of damage here in Milford, Connecticut, but nothing compared to some of the areas in Cape Cod and Nantucket.
01:04:38I'm standing on the second floor as these waves were crashing up over my head.
01:04:44And to think back to the good times that we had just a few short months ago where we were windsurfing and fishing and enjoying nice beach days.
01:04:58We certainly experienced a lot of damage here in Milford, Connecticut, but nothing compared to some of the areas in Cape Cod and Nantucket.
01:05:02I worked for the Nantucket Beacon, which is a newspaper here, and I was on my way to work
01:05:09and I thought I'd stop by a dear friend's house to take a look to see what was going
01:05:15on and already the waves were starting to cut underneath the house.
01:05:21There was a sense of gasping disbelief, a sense of, oh my God, I'm going to watch our
01:05:27house go out to sea.
01:05:30The wave after wave kept coming up closer and closer and eating away the sand.
01:05:38It was only going to be a matter of time until the house was going to be washed out too.
01:05:47My job as a photographer was to be at the scene and document it, but at the same time
01:05:51it was difficult because this was a house that was very, very close to me.
01:05:56It's the house where I met my wife, so every time I put the viewfinder to my face it was
01:06:01like part of my life was being eaten away and I had to keep remembering I'm doing a
01:06:05job here.
01:06:08The water kept approaching faster and faster and the life of the house flashed before my
01:06:16eyes.
01:06:17There were memories of my sisters and me having all these parties and lazy summer days and
01:06:25there was always a wonderful collection of friends and as this flood of memories came
01:06:30back, I was also watching the house die and as soon as I snapped out of that realization,
01:06:39I ran to the front door and I opened the door, but it was clear that it was just too dangerous
01:06:45to go back in the house.
01:06:50Despite that danger, two friends took a quick dash into the house to actually carry out
01:06:56a cabinet that was right there in the front hallway.
01:07:01The house made this horrible creaking sound and we could hear furniture and things inside
01:07:06the house sliding through the house and crashing up against the other wall.
01:07:12At one point I put the camera down and looked down the hallway and it was a terrifying sight.
01:07:19The ocean was inside the back of the house and it was swirling around and it was angry
01:07:25and it wasn't going to stop.
01:07:27People were still trying to get things out of the house and everybody was screaming at
01:07:31it to just get out because it was going to go.
01:07:36And then at the stroke of noon, this enormous wave came up and wrapped its arms around the
01:07:43house and just dragged it off the beach.
01:07:51It was a sight I will never forget in my life.
01:07:55It was like watching a ship being launched.
01:08:01The house stayed afloat and twisted slowly like that scene in The Wizard of Oz, as if
01:08:08it were going to be lifted off and float out of the water.
01:08:17For a few moments I really thought that well, maybe this will just float away.
01:08:25And then one big wave came and it went over the top of the house and another wave came
01:08:31and the back wall of the house went out.
01:08:33And every time a wave comes I'm thinking there goes one more memory.
01:08:37There goes the 4th of July parties.
01:08:39There go the card games till midnight.
01:08:40There goes the breeze coming through the lace curtains.
01:08:51It was really devastating to watch.
01:08:58It was like watching my lifetime come crashing down.
01:09:01Something went off inside of me that was so fearsome, watching a dear friend's dear house
01:09:07being eaten by the ocean.
01:09:18There was a sense of absolute powerlessness.
01:09:21There was nothing I could do but be a witness.
01:09:31Finally this last wave came in and just shot through the house and blew the house apart.
01:09:57There was nothing more to see.
01:09:58It was gone.
01:10:00It was just gone.
01:10:12There are times now I go down by the sea and I look at where the house was
01:10:17and there's no way to describe to anybody what was there.
01:10:23It's just gone with the sea.
01:10:29I get really teary when I remember that.
01:10:39It's a, it's just a part of my life that I have to say goodbye to.
01:10:51It's always difficult and painful to leave a home, especially one filled with wonderful memories.
01:10:57But for DeWitt Smith, the unexpected loss of her house
01:11:01was so devastating she vowed to never again live near the sea.
01:11:06Gregory Hoffman was luckier.
01:11:08His house withstood the storm and he continues to make his home in Connecticut,
01:11:12but always with a watchful eye on the sea.
01:11:17Coming up, a walk in the woods turns into a run for your life.
01:11:21We'll be right back.
01:11:23I've brushed my teeth three times a day, so just imagine when the dentist said,
01:11:35Annie, you've got tartar.
01:11:37And he reached for that pick.
01:11:39Doctor asked, isn't there an easier way?
01:11:41He said, Annie, use a tougher toothpaste.
01:11:43Tartar Control Crest.
01:11:44Because of Crest's exclusive tartar fighting formula,
01:11:47we're so sure you'll have less tartar in six months, we'll give you a money-back guarantee.
01:11:51So I started using Tartar Control Crest, and my next visit's great.
01:11:55Less tartar in six months guaranteed.
01:11:57From Crest, the dentist's choice.
01:11:59Now I don't get picked on so much anymore.
01:12:02Think your laundry is dirty on the outside?
01:12:04Uh-oh, look at this shirt.

01:12:54Fire!
01:12:54Beneath the surface lies the future.
01:12:57The premiere of Sequest, next on NBC.
01:13:01Hey, John, hear about Tuesday?
01:13:03What happened?
01:13:04The John Larroquette show's a hit.
01:13:05You're a funny guy, John.
01:13:07Critics love you. What's up Tuesday?
01:13:08I want you to make love to me.
01:13:09Larroquette, NBC Tuesday.
01:13:19One thing that amazes me about some of the videos we receive
01:13:22is how people continue to videotape even during the most extreme conditions.
01:13:28You'd think if you were being attacked by a wild bear,
01:13:31you might drop the camera and run for your life, right?
01:13:35Well, you're about to see the opposite.
01:13:40Look at that!
01:13:42I consider myself an avid outdoorsman.
01:13:45I truly enjoy hunting and fishing in the woods and just the whole outdoor experience.
01:13:51And when I go out into the woods,
01:13:52I oftentimes take my camcorder to capture that on film.
01:13:57This was our fourth trip, so this was not a new experience for my brother and I,
01:14:01but for the other four folks that went with us, this was their first time.
01:14:08And that plane leaves you there in that lake.
01:14:11You're 20 or 30 miles away from a road, never even thinking about another person.
01:14:16I mean, you're out in the wilderness.
01:14:20Hey, they are pretty small, aren't they?
01:14:22One's pretty...
01:14:23It was probably our second or third day of fishing.
01:14:27The fishing was really lousy on the lake, so my brother and I decided to go exploring.
01:14:31And as I was exploring, I saw a moose.
01:14:35And I told Tom about the moose because I didn't get it on camera.
01:14:39Well, I told my brother Larry that instead of going fishing later that afternoon,
01:14:43I would like to try to walk down the stream where Steve had spotted this bull moose
01:14:47and see if I could get some film of this moose on my camcorder.
01:14:51I told him to meet me in an hour, and he went back out fishing.
01:14:56The terrain is rough.
01:14:58I was so far deep into this wilderness, I was basically alone.
01:15:03I made my way along this riverbank, and I just started being real quiet,
01:15:07hoping a moose would come out.
01:15:09And I heard a noise from behind me, so I thought it was going to be a moose.
01:15:13So I flicked down my camera and turned around, and there was this bear.
01:15:19At first, I thought this was really neat.
01:15:21This is really cool.
01:15:23I want to get a bear on film, and as soon as he sees me, he's going to take off
01:15:28because that's what bears normally do.
01:15:30They're just as afraid of you as you are of them.
01:15:33But this bear was different.
01:15:34He came right at me.
01:15:37Even though I had never had any experience with a bear in the wild,
01:15:39I knew that you're not supposed to run.
01:15:42It triggers a predatory instinct on all animals.
01:15:47I was not that nervous for the first 25, 30 seconds,
01:15:51but as time wore on, he became more aggressive.
01:15:54No, bear, no!
01:15:56The bear, at one point, stands up on a tree
01:15:59to either show his dominance or to mark his territory with his claws.
01:16:06At that point, things started getting more serious.
01:16:13I bumped into a tree, which startled me and hurt for a second.
01:16:19I was confused.
01:16:20I was continuously screaming at this bear.
01:16:22I would say, go away, bear.
01:16:24Get out of here, bear.
01:16:26And it always seemed to startle him for a second, and it would stop him.
01:16:29Get out of here!
01:16:32I had been screaming so loud and constantly that my throat was totally dry.
01:16:38It kept getting closer and closer, and I had no place to go,
01:16:42and I ended up having to go into the water,
01:16:44probably for a couple of hours, and then I got out of the water.
01:16:49Probably up to my chest.
01:16:52Get out of here, bear!
01:16:55And as soon as I was stepping into the water,
01:16:57he stopped on the shoreline and kind of gave me a sideways look,
01:17:02and that look was very frightening.
01:17:06I was hoping that he would be done at that point, but he wasn't.
01:17:10He decided to make another charge out into the water at me,
01:17:13and actually climbed up on some blown-down trees in the water and lurked over me.
01:17:19You get out of here!
01:17:24No!
01:17:26No!
01:17:27At that time, I thought, if he comes out at me now, it's all over.
01:17:32I'm going to drown, and there's nothing I can do about it.
01:17:37I'm going to drown.
01:17:38No!
01:17:39Get out of here, bear!
01:17:42I did have a plan in the back of my mind that I was going to use my camcorder as a weapon,
01:17:47and if it, you know, did go to bite me,
01:17:49I was going to take my camcorder and shove it into this bear's mouth.
01:17:57Eventually, the bear did leave.
01:18:00I don't know if he just gave up or what, but he ended up leaving.
01:18:03I stayed in the water for a few more minutes just to make sure he was gone.
01:18:08Got out of the water and made a hasty retreat back to where my brother was to pick me up.
01:18:13So just before the hour was over with, I started trolling back toward my brother to pick him up,
01:18:19and I just turned the corner of this little stream,
01:18:21and I started screaming and waving at him,
01:18:24and obviously he had no idea what was going on.
01:18:26He just saw this raving lunatic waving his arms.
01:18:30As I get close to him, I'm probably three or four feet from this rock.
01:18:35He flat jumps from that rock into the boat.
01:18:37I mean, it's lucky he didn't kill himself.
01:18:39They motor over to us, and Tom says,
01:18:40Steve, Steve, you got to see this video.
01:18:42And I says, why did you see the moose?
01:18:44He says, no, I got attacked by a bear.
01:18:46I says, yeah, right.
01:18:47Told everybody in the fishing party about it,
01:18:49and of course they would have never believed me except that it happens to be on film.
01:18:56The piece that bothered me the most is when he's in the water,
01:18:59and I hear him say, I'm going to drown.
01:19:02I'm going to drown.
01:19:03No! Get out of here, bear!
01:19:06You know, I know my brother.
01:19:07I know his voice.
01:19:08And he thought he was going to die.
01:19:11And that was pretty scary.
01:19:15You know, he's my best friend, and so it's...
01:19:18Although black bears aren't normally man killers,
01:19:22the fact that it snuck up from behind me,
01:19:25circled me, and continuously pushed me,
01:19:28that trait alone indicates to me, based on some research I've done,
01:19:32that this was a predatory black bear that was out to kill me and eat me.
01:19:37I'm a very lucky man to have escaped that encounter.
01:19:44Hunters have always bragged about the big one that got away.
01:19:49And today, with the help of video,
01:19:51it's possible to prove that what they're saying is true.
01:19:55Of course, in this case, the video went in favor of the bear,
01:20:00and proved that Tom Walter was the one that got away.
01:20:04Next, a criminal who didn't get away,

01:24:28We had a seven-mile stretch of road that we felt sure were having tires dumped on it.
01:24:34We all decided we needed to find out where they were coming from
01:24:37and attempt to catch the individual or individuals that were doing this.
01:24:41Have you ever been driving along and watched
01:24:43as someone in another automobile threw a paper wrapper or cigarette out of their window?
01:24:49And have you ever wished you could stop that person and make them pick up their litter?
01:24:54Well, not long ago, the folks in Rockbridge County, Virginia,
01:24:58had a major litter problem on their hands.
01:25:01Someone was dumping piles of old tires along their forest roads.
01:25:06And as you're about to see, they decided to do something about it.
01:25:10♪♪
01:25:15Rockbridge County lies between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Allegheny Mountains to the west.
01:25:20♪♪
01:25:23It's a very beautiful county.
01:25:25We would like to protect it.
01:25:27We all were noting an increase in tires in the mountainous areas of Rockbridge County.
01:25:32The tires themselves are a mosquito-breeding area.
01:25:37Also, if the mountain was to catch on fire,
01:25:39it would be extremely hard to put it out due to the fact these things burn so hot.
01:25:45We needed to locate where they were coming from, a source of these tires.
01:25:50We had a gut feeling that they were coming from one particular spot, one particular station.
01:25:57I went undercover and went to the service station and asked the owner
01:26:02if I could place a tire in his discarded tire pile.
01:26:06This tire was marked and traceable.
01:26:10Once those tires in that pile were missing,
01:26:13we then went up to the mountain and began a massive search with a lot of people.
01:26:16♪♪
01:26:18The game biologists and game warden are in there attempting to locate the tire.
01:26:23We did find marked tires showing that the tires were coming from this specific gas station.
01:26:30Now, we knew where.
01:26:32We had to figure out who.
01:26:35I then went over in an undercover van so that I could videotape whoever showed up to pick up the tires.
01:26:41I arrived there about 8 a.m. in the morning and it was extremely hot that day.
01:26:46And a pickup truck showed up and picked up the tires.
01:26:50Extremely hot that day.
01:26:51And a pickup truck showed up right approximately 11 o'clock.
01:26:56Okay, at the present time, he's loading tires.
01:27:01The individual is wearing a blue-colored striped shirt.
01:27:04He appears to be in his 50s, 55 years old.
01:27:11Took him probably about 10 minutes to load them and at that point he drove off.
01:27:15During the course of the investigation, it was determined that this was one of the spots
01:27:19where tires were being dumped.
01:27:20We decided to set up a video camera here.
01:27:24We placed a video camera up on this cliffy area and filmed about a 50-foot area of the roadway
01:27:31to document any cars that were coming up and down and anything that they may do.
01:27:36We set the camera up so that it would turn on automatically when a car would go by
01:27:41so that we wouldn't use a lot of tape-up.
01:27:43Just by pure, absolute luck, an individual came right down through the middle of the screen
01:27:48and threw off a tire right for us to watch and see.
01:27:52We should have seen the smiles on our face when we saw that,
01:27:55considering that the chances of that, it was a seven-mile stretch.
01:27:58You picking 50 feet out was just astronomical.
01:28:02I then immediately recognized it as the same vehicle that I had seen at the service station
01:28:07previously picking up tires.
01:28:09With all of this evidence, we went to the Commonwealth Attorney the next day.
01:28:13He wanted us to bolster the case that it was not just an isolated incident.
01:28:19So the next time that the tire pile started getting to where we thought it was going to leave,
01:28:24we got the team together and spread out along the seven-mile stretch of road.
01:28:29One of the games that we were playing was a game called,

01:28:38One of the game wardens watched the pickup truck come down by him,
01:28:41and it still had the tires in it, and he scrambled down the bank.
01:28:44And just as he got the camera up, he turned it on and filmed the individual
01:28:48as the last tire was being thrown down over the bank.
01:28:51So basically, we caught him red-handed and caught him red-handed on film.
01:28:55I just got in right behind him, right on the back of his pickup truck,
01:28:58went ahead and stopped him and placed him under arrest.
01:29:01There were 15 specific charges that we knew we could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt
01:29:07because we had the tires, plus the video.

01:34:27Maybe this cat has done this when she's been around.
01:34:29I really hope it will do the same thing when our cameras are there.
01:34:36And it was just amazing, I mean, to see this cat, you know, nursing these puppies.

01:34:45maybe if we could find someone who has some kittens and show them to Miss Kitty,

01:35:50We told Missy that it would probably be okay for the cat to nurse the puppies.
01:35:54It's pretty unusual for a cat to adopt a litter of puppies.
01:35:58We see cats adopting other kittens, and we see dogs adopting other puppies.
01:36:04Very seldom do you see one species nursing off a different species.
01:36:10The volume of milk, I would think, would be the most critical thing
01:36:13for her to have to produce for a litter of puppies versus a litter of kittens.
01:36:18So we did recommend to her that they had to force the mother to lay down

01:38:06and you often get clients to ask you to do a video production.
01:38:12You get clients to ask you to do low aerial shots.

01:38:20OK, what I have to do is I get a small camera
01:38:23and put it on one of those helicopters,
01:38:25and we have the device which we need.
01:38:30But it wasn't so simple.
01:38:31There were big cameras,
01:38:32and big cameras couldn't be lifted by modern helicopters.
01:38:36If you want the ideal camera to go on to a helicopter,
01:38:40you have to build one.
01:38:45And after a few years, we had some good results,
