00:00Previously on The Apprentice, Clay's explosive return from the boardroom put his teammates on edge.
00:09He's definitely upset.
00:11No, he's not. He doesn't just get upset. He is vindictive.
00:15Everything we say he's going to contradict, I mean, it's going to be hell.
00:19The candidates were challenged to create a sales display for the DVD release of the latest Star Wars episode, Revenge of the Sith.
00:28There you go. There you go.
00:30At Capitol Edge, project manager Clay quickly showed his dark side, leaving all the work to Ala.
00:37You seem to have a vision of what you want on that. I'm going to leave you to it.
00:40The second we got to the photo shoot, Clay basically said, OK, Ala, go ahead and do this, and left me doing the whole thing by myself.
00:47At Excel, project manager Brian got off to a slow start.
00:51How you doing?
00:52I'm just calling to let you know that we're in a little bit of traffic, but we should be there pretty shortly.
00:56And missed a meeting with the Best Buy and Lucasfilm executives.
01:00You're screwed.
01:02When the display was finished, Marshawn abandoned her team and backed out of the presentation.
01:08I honestly think that you should do it. Why are you looking at me like that?
01:11I don't want you to do it.
01:12I know you do, Brian. I'm not passionate about this.
01:14You're more eloquent than I am.
01:16Rebecca stepped up in Marshawn's place, but the force was with Capitol Edge.
01:21They totally preferred Capitol Edge. It wasn't even close. So congratulations.
01:26Thank you, Mr. Trump.
01:29Clay, you are the project manager. That Adam, should he be exempt from firing or not?
01:34I do not think he should be exempt from firing.
01:36Absolutely not.
01:38I'm going to vote against him being exempt.
01:41Excel went to the boardroom, where both Brian and Marshawn were short on answers.
01:46Marshawn, you shunned your responsibility to present, and I hate the fact that you did it.
01:51Brian, you were a terrible leader. You were late, and you were late for the wrong reasons.
01:57You live in Manhattan.
01:59Brian, you're fired.
02:01You also. Marshawn, you're fired.
02:07Six candidates are left. Who will be fired this week?
02:17Money, money, money, money.
02:21Money.
02:22Money, money, money, money.
02:26Money.
02:27Some people got to have it.
02:32Some people really need it.
02:36Listen to me, y'all.
02:37Do things, do things, do things, bad things, baby.
02:44Dollar bill, y'all.
02:45Come on, baby.
02:48Do things, do things, do things, do things, baby.
02:53All my desire.
02:55I don't know that money.
02:59Give me a nickel, brother.
03:01Can you swear that money can drive some people out of their mind?
03:11No good, no good.
03:13Money.
03:14Money, money, money, money.
03:18Money.
03:34I'd be really upset if Brian didn't fight.
03:36He didn't have to fight dirty.
03:37Just fight for himself.
03:38He didn't have to do it against anybody else.
03:40Just fight for himself.
03:41Maybe what he's doing is strategic.
03:43I don't know.
03:44Capital Edge is waiting to see who comes back from Excel.
03:47Randall, of course, is coming back because his team was nice enough to exempt him this week.
03:51I expect to see Marshawn come back, but Rebecca and Brian, I think it'll be one of the two, those that don't come back.
04:01There's Rebecca.
04:03Hi, welcome back.
04:04Hey, welcome back.
04:06Only two people are back?
04:08Well, obviously that was a sobering boardroom.
04:12I honestly expected Brian to go.
04:13I did not expect Marshawn to go.
04:15We're outnumbered 42.
04:17My biggest concern is wanting to maintain the dynamic that we currently have.
04:22I know what it was like to be on a team where the objective was to betray in order to advance on some level or another.
04:32I think we would have a strong team if we just could get you to, like, get over the personal feelings.
04:38The personal feelings that were put on me?
04:41Yeah, just the, you know, just...
04:43Well, I don't like the way you word that put on you.
04:45Well, I'm not going to look at his words.
04:47You don't have to like the way I word it.
04:48I don't like the way you've worded anything that you've said about me.
04:50Clay definitely brings a lot of negativity to any team he's on.
04:54I call him a roadblock.
04:55He objects just for the sake of objecting.
04:58You cannot change Clay.
04:59We've tried.
05:00Clay is Clay, and he'll stay Clay.
05:03My biggest thing is just taking things too personal.
05:08Listen, I always believe in giving an exemption unless I feel that the leader did a below-par job.
05:14We are done.
05:15Okay.
05:16Good night.
05:30Good night.
05:52Good morning.
05:53Good morning. It's Rona calling.
05:56Hi, Rona.
05:57Mr. Trump is meeting with Ms. Universe at Trump Model Management.
06:00He'd like you to be there in two hours.
06:02Do you think he could be ready?
06:04We can do it.
06:05Thanks, Rona.
06:06Okay. Bye.
06:08Trump Modeling and Management.
06:10Trump Modeling and Management?
06:12Yeah. That sounds fun to me.
06:23So, Jennifer, you having a good time?
06:25Yeah.
06:26Good. I am.
06:27This is George. This is Carol.
06:28Hi. Nice to meet you. I'm Jennifer.
06:29Jennifer, as you know, is Ms. Universe, and she's been our best.
06:42Wait right there.
06:47Okay. Let's go.
06:52Good morning.
06:53Good morning.
06:54Welcome to week nine of your 13-week job interview.
06:58As you can see, George is back.
07:01And to my left, I have Ms. Universe from Australia, Jennifer Hawkins.
07:05Hi.
07:06Now, we're down to the final six candidates.
07:09This is the time where all of you just have to step up.
07:14Exemptions no longer matter. They don't count.
07:19Clay.
07:20Yes, sir.
07:21Are you happy with your team? They didn't vote you exemption.
07:23No, sir. I'm not happy with my team.
07:25I would love a change today.
07:27So you're freely asking for a change?
07:29Yes. I would love a change.
07:30How does your team feel about that? Adam, how do you feel?
07:32I feel that Clay has definitely been a tough individual to deal with on our team,
07:38but I think he's showing a lack of loyalty by asking to leave our team.
07:42Randall, how do you feel about that?
07:44I think Clay is one of the most creative people in the suite right now, Mr. Trump,
07:47and many of the tasks that we've had have required creativity.
07:50Rebecca, how do you feel?
07:51Well, I think that Clay was on a victorious team. I would be honored to have him on our team.
07:56Okay, Clay. You asked to switch teams. I'm going to let you. Go ahead.
08:01Thank you, Mr. Trump.
08:02Welcome.
08:03Thank you. I'll take a hug.
08:07Okay, let's get started.
08:10We're standing in the offices of Trump Model Management.
08:14We're always on the search and lookout for talent.
08:19Ms. Universe, Jennifer Hawkins, is going to be at Trump Model Management.
08:23We searched for her. We found a winner.
08:25Today, I want you to develop new talent in another very sexy industry, the radio industry.
08:31XM Satellite Radio has a value of $9.5 billion.
08:37It has 150 channels and millions of subscribers.
08:41With so many stations, XM is constantly on the lookout for new musical talent to boost its brand.
08:47For your next task, you will audition a variety of unsigned singers and then choose the artist you feel has the most talent.
08:55Then, you will write an original song and supervise all creative aspects of producing a record.
09:02Your song will play live on air for millions of listeners on one of XM Radio's premiere stations, XM Cafe.
09:10You'll have access to professional musicians and producers to help you.
09:15The team whose song best fits the format of XM Cafe, as judged by the XM Satellite Radio executives, wins.
09:25The losers will meet me in the boardroom, where somebody will be fired.
09:30Okay, go.
09:33I want to win this task so bad, just so that Mr. Trump can say,
09:38Hey guys, what happened with y'all?
09:40You know, y'all said that it was all Clay's fault and Clay was the one causing y'all to have all these problems.
09:44But Clay goes to the other team and they win.
09:46Sure will suck to be them.
09:55It's the great business person that can decide between practicality and creativity.
10:00The vodka category, there really isn't a traditional strategy.
10:03The imagery is predetermined with the Trump brand.
10:05I like that.
10:06I like that.
10:07That's a very smart ad.
10:08You have to be able to strike a balance.
10:11If you don't strike a balance, it's not going to work.
10:14Nice presentation.
10:15Good job.
10:23Daniel, Leah, Kareem, we have about 15 minutes with you.
10:27We want to hear your music.
10:29We're really looking forward to that.
10:31I became project manager because I thought that this task sounded interesting.
10:35It sounded like a lot of fun.
10:36And I have a passion for music and producing music.
10:39That's so cool.
10:40Who wouldn't want to do something like that?
10:53The key to winning this task today is to find a fit between the artist, the song, and the genre that XM Cafe caters to.
11:01The XM Cafe channel is kind of rock, but it's a combination of different sounds that are more focused on the kind of lyrics, easy listening.
11:25Cool.
11:26Thanks, guys.
11:28Who are your musical inspirations?
11:30My musical inspirations are Babyface, Stevie Wonder, and also some African influences.
11:35I'm from Nigeria, so I have the African stuff I'm also trying to infuse with whatever's going on musically.
11:42We ended up choosing Jide because he was an artist that was versatile with a lot of flavor in his voice.
11:49He wanted to bring Nigerian influences into his music.
11:52I'm from the Yoruba tribe, yeah.
11:53I know that Jide would work on XM Cafe because these are sophisticated intellectual listeners.
11:59All right, thanks.
12:00This is great.
12:01I hope you feel better.
12:02Thanks.
12:03Definitely.
12:12I really wanted to be PM on this task.
12:15I haven't been PM in a long time, so it was my turn to show that I could be in control and I could manage well.
12:20I needed to show that to my team.
12:22I never thought I could feel such love in my soul.
12:34You're the reason I know that it's just this good.
12:42It was love at first sight with Levi.
12:44He loves what he's doing.
12:45You can hear it in the music.
12:47You can feel it in the room, and you can see it on him.
12:50At the end of the day, we had to sell this artist to the XM executives.
12:53I knew that we had picked the right person.
12:55He's not here for one hit wonder.
12:57He's going to last a test of time.
12:59He said he'd get up and sell him.
13:09Jide.
13:10Hey.
13:11Thanks for coming back.
13:12Good to see you again.
13:13Good to see you, too.
13:14Good to see you.
13:16One of the things I want to ask you is, where do you see something like this coming from?
13:20You have to have something in the back of your mind that's going, I want to pull all of this stuff together to really show who I am.
13:27Growing up, I was always in love with some girl.
13:29Things never worked out because of my weight.
13:31And then tell me about growing up.
13:33I have a younger brother, older sister, and I'm a middle child.
13:37You're in the middle.
13:38You know what it's like to be a middle child.
13:39Yeah, always.
13:40I think that's also another factor with my showmanship.
13:42I'm always trying to get attention from when I was a kid.
13:44I think Excel is on the right track with Jide.
13:46He's from Nigeria, and he has a story to tell.
13:49It's really all about how people are going to relate to this person just based on their music alone.
13:55It seems a question I keep coming up is that you're the middle child, yet you were the ugly duckling at first.
14:01And then you got cute enough, and then you wanted everybody to pay attention to you.
14:05And so it's all about, well, what about me?
14:07Just sing it like you're asking God, what about me?
14:11What about me?
14:15Oh, what about me?
14:18I've had struggles in my past.
14:20You can do whatever you want to, but what about me?
14:23What about me is more of something that would come out of a woman's mouth.
14:27I just think it's more feminine.
14:29Isn't that the beauty of it?
14:30But I don't think it's a fit for him.
14:33It could be like, it's my time.
14:34I like that.
14:35It's my time is like bragging.
14:37It's my time.
14:38It's my time to do this.
14:39But that's the thing.
14:40He's a guy.
14:41He has to be tough and have attitude.
14:43Part of the new course I want to write is, and in the end, it's all about me.
14:47Instead of asking what about me, it's all about me.
14:49Does that make sense?
14:50Randall and I brought Clay to our team because we saw Clay as being a creative thinker.
14:55But it was over and over again, Clay stepping up and saying, no, this is wrong, no, this is wrong.
15:01Clay was so intent on his what about me idea that he couldn't play devil's advocate to it.
15:05Clay needs to be more flexible in a team setting because when he is stubborn, he brings the rest of the team to a stalemate.
15:13Creatively, if you change it, it's my time.
15:15I'll tell you, I'll be quite honest with you.
15:17It screws everything that I've written in the last 40 minutes.
15:26We're so excited.
15:28Now we can start.
15:29I know.
15:30Well, come sit down and join us.
15:31Yeah, have a seat.
15:32Have you thought about what you'd like to write?
15:34Well, I wanted to learn, first of all, more about you.
15:37And we're trying to make sure that we're projecting you as an artist.
15:40My friends are so much a part of what I define myself.
15:43Being an independent artist, you're scraping the bottom together.
15:46You know, you're sleeping on each other's couch and on each other's floor.
15:50And it gets very intense and very personal.
15:52But that's been the foundation of it all.
15:55What are you leaning towards creatively?
15:56I want it to be about the story about how you have nothing and yet still you have everything.
16:01Nothing can be everything.
16:04I like that. That's good.
16:15You like that?
16:16What's the type of music you're talking about?
16:18It's pop rock.
16:19It's pop rock?
16:20I used to be in radio, you know that.
16:22Did you use to be in radio?
16:23I owned radio stations.
16:24We had one of the first hard rock stations.
16:26The first time we played hard rock, my partner asked me,
16:29What do you think of the music?
16:30I said, I think it's terrible.
16:31He says, but we sell a lot of commercials.
16:33I said, I love the music.
16:37The key to radio is creating a format that the listening audience likes.
16:41So you're really catering to a particular listener.
16:53With Klee gone, we're definitely a lot more of a solid unit.
16:56We don't scream over each other.
16:58We don't roadblock each other.
16:59It definitely is a better team without Klee on it.
17:06I'm loving it.
17:22We've gone from the whole what about me chick lyric
17:25to Nigerian seal meets Lenny Kravitz music.
17:29And the whole concept behind the song is that
17:32Jide sort of turned away from his Nigerian heritage
17:36and more recently, he's turned back to that heritage
17:39and he's remembered to stay true to himself.
17:49No, no, no.
17:50He's messing up that second line, isn't he?
17:53Jide can fit into a lot of different genres.
17:56He's got a lot of soul to his sound
17:58and he almost can fit into classical if he wants to.
18:01And so he fit into the cafe range.
18:03I'm going to push this guy to his limits
18:05and make him into a mega superstar.
18:07All right, I'll put the other line in.
18:08Yeah, it sounds better with it.
18:10And try to say it with a lot more power.
18:14Because if you were saying it in Nigeria,
18:16you would have some power in it.
18:23There it is.
18:38I can't really hear this playing on XM Cafe.
18:40Do you understand what I'm saying?
18:41I want to make sure that we win.
18:43There was definitely a huge risk of taking the song
18:46to a place where I wasn't going to be able to present it
18:48to the XM executives.
18:50The song was going down this jazz road
18:52and it didn't fit the radio station.
18:56Can I make a suggestion from the control room?
18:58Yes.
18:59I'm a little concerned that we're sounding really jazzy
19:01and this is supposed to be a pop rock song.
19:03So if we could tone that down and do the pop rock
19:06just a little bit.
19:07I need to make sure it fits the radio station
19:09which is like sophisticated music.
19:11I don't want him to go,
19:12this doesn't fit into what we're trying to fit it into
19:14because we could lose the task on that.
19:16I'm sensitive to that.
19:17OK.
19:18Felicia brought up a good point because the radio station
19:20which was XM Cafe was alternative rock.
19:23Well, jazz doesn't quite go with that.
19:26So she was able to recognize that
19:28and just get the producers to agree with her
19:30and to change up some of the acoustical sound.
19:33Before you...
19:35Yeah, we'll let him.
19:36Yeah.
19:37OK.
19:38Let's do it again.
19:39I'm a little out of trouble, a little high
19:42It goes a little deeper, a little terrifying
19:44But you'll never know if you never try
19:47Cause you gotta live before you die
20:03What do you guys think about going in and saying
20:05we'd like to introduce you to G-Day
20:07and then G-Day walks through the door
20:09instead of going in with G-Day.
20:10I like that.
20:11We could even leave him in the hall for a little bit
20:13and just stand at the door.
20:14I like it a lot.
20:15I like the idea of him coming in separately from us.
20:17I started going over the presentation
20:18and the concept for G-Day to walk in
20:21was based on the idea that he would have a big grand entrance.
20:25First, I'm going to introduce G-Day.
20:29The reason that we were attracted to G-Day in the first place
20:32is that when he walked into our room
20:35with his smile.
20:37He began with an R&B song
20:39but he also has a Nigerian heritage
20:42and he has spent a lot of his life
20:45sort of shunning and shutting out that Nigerian background
20:48and it hasn't been until recently.
20:51While I'm in the middle of giving my pitch
20:53Clay starts doing this.
20:57And I looked at Clay and said
20:58Okay, don't tell me that.
20:59Tell me an idea, Clay.
21:01I'm not trying to...
21:02No, I don't care. Tell me an idea.
21:04I think you're telling too much of a story
21:06that really doesn't go back into the roots behind the song.
21:09It's not exciting.
21:10Okay, tell me ideas.
21:11Clay can't work with people.
21:12He hasn't been able to work with Capital Edge.
21:14He came over to Accel and he couldn't work with us.
21:17Clay has been consistently disturbing
21:20to project managers and to teammates on all of his tests.
21:24He is detrimental to a team.
21:26I really don't think I can work successfully with Clay ever again.
21:33♪
21:45Good to see you.
21:46Great to see you.
21:47Great to see you.
21:48This is Levi.
21:49Levi.
21:50Pleasure to meet you.
21:51Nice to meet you.
21:52Hi, Levi.
21:53Pleasure to meet you.
21:54I'm Lee.
21:55Novi.
21:56Lee.
21:57Novi.
21:58Eric Logan, Executive Vice President for XM Satellite Radio.
21:59Hello.
22:00Lisa Ivory, Program Director.
22:01I'm going to introduce Levi Christ to you today.
22:03His music is going to do the speaking to you
22:05and I think that you guys are going to feel the same passion,
22:08that organic roots feeling that he gives you
22:11just about his soul and his life.
22:13He had such an interesting story
22:15that it was so easy to put the lyrics to the story.
22:18Levi, how did you feel about the story?
22:20You know, these guys went to so much effort
22:22to really understand the things that kind of define who I am
22:25that I was completely comfortable just letting go
22:28and I think they nailed it.
22:29All right.
22:30Well, I'd like to introduce you to Lou Brutus,
22:31who's one of our top personalities.
22:32Hi.
22:33We're going to go live now.
22:34Let's go.
22:42Eddie, let's go to XM Studios right away.
22:44Thanks.
22:45We'll tell you what.
22:46We're going to play this for everybody.
22:47Check it out.
22:48It's Levi Christ here on XM Satellite Radio.
22:50XM Cafe.
22:51XM Cafe.
23:12I can understand the words.
23:13It actually tells a story.
23:15Yeah.
23:22Levi Christ here on XM Satellite Radio.
23:24XM Cafe.
23:25But let's find out what the XM Satellite Radio listeners think
23:28around the country.
23:29What did you think of the tune, Scott?
23:30I thought it was great.
23:31I mean, I really liked it.
23:32I think I'd like to hear it on XM Cafe rotation.
23:35Glad you liked it.
23:36Excellent.
23:37Well, thanks so much.
23:38John, you're on the line.
23:39What'd you think?
23:40It was awesome.
23:41I think Levi's got a ton of talent
23:42and I'd pay money to see him, man.
23:43Awesome.
23:44Thanks, man.
23:45Jody, you're on the line next.
23:46Hey, I'm stuck in the middle of Atlanta rush hour
23:48and it put a smile on my face.
23:49I love it.
23:50Where can we get the CD, Levi?
23:51What a compliment.
23:52I was definitely personally invested.
23:54I mean, this was my task.
23:56I laid it all on the line.
23:57I knew the audience would love this song
23:59because I love the song.
24:00Man, that wasn't so bad.
24:03That's all you, Levi.
24:05That's all you.
24:09Hi.
24:10How are ya?
24:11Great to see you.
24:12Great.
24:13We would like to introduce you to G-Day
24:15and introduce his song to XM Cafe
24:18because we believe G-Day...
24:23Hi, G-Day.
24:24Nice to meet you.
24:25Nice to meet you.
24:26How you doing?
24:27Welcome.
24:28Clay freaking opens the door for G-Day to come in
24:30while I'm in the middle of talking
24:31so there's really no grand entrance.
24:33Throughout this task, working with Clay
24:35has been my Achilles heel
24:37because he consistently would take the group
24:39completely off course.
24:41G-Day, he's 24 years old.
24:43He left Nigeria when he was three
24:45and we believe his adventurous music
24:48will breathe new life into XM Cafe.
24:51If I could also draw your attention to the poster,
24:54we envisioned this campaign to highlight new artists.
24:57Randall said he wanted to do the poster.
24:59The poster is to tell you there's an artist named G-Day,
25:01the station you can hear him on,
25:03and give you a sense for why G-Day would work on XM Cafe.
25:07You know, many of your posters have this
25:10recurring theme of the power of X.
25:13Small detail.
25:15And so we see G-Day as being the kind of star,
25:18the kind of personality, the kind of talent
25:20that can really launch XM Radio.
25:22New stars to the power of X.
25:25We've got a bit of a surprise for you right now
25:28from G-Day.
25:29Brand new music here on XM Satellite Radio.
25:43When I was a young boy
25:45My mom used to tell me
25:47Remember the childhood when you were
25:52But I failed to listen
25:54Discarded by my intuition
25:56I was missing the history in my heart
26:03My time has come
26:05My time has come
26:06Seriously, I mean, can you hear this on Cafe?
26:09It's not a perfect match.
26:14G-Day here on XM Cafe.
26:16We have Dennis on the line.
26:18Hey, Dennis, go ahead.
26:19I thought it sounded pretty good.
26:21Cool.
26:22It picks up the beat there a little bit.
26:24That caller just made my point.
26:26I know.
26:27I mean, the caller says it, like, picks up the beat.
26:29That's not what Cafe is.
26:30Hi, Max, how you doing?
26:31Well, I thought it was a little bit formulaic.
26:33I thought that it was a pretty typical pop song.
26:35Gotcha. Well, listen, thanks for being honest.
26:37Appreciate it.
26:38I think Mark is next on the line.
26:40Hey, Mark, thanks for calling in.
26:41How you doing today?
26:42I'm doing okay.
26:43I've listened to your song.
26:44It was okay.
26:45I really didn't hear any lyrics.
26:46I didn't hear much other than the very weak riff.
26:50I was like, all right,
26:51if this is a sophisticated intellectual audience,
26:53maybe XM Cafe will buy into this whole Nigerian background.
26:58But there was no real huge enthusiasm,
27:01which I was kind of surprised by.
27:03We have Paul on the line.
27:04Paul, go ahead.
27:05Let's have some more vocals on it.
27:07It's interesting, but more vocal.
27:20They both made great records.
27:21They both made great records.
27:22Yeah, I mean, I like them both.
27:24I just think one song was better for XM Cafe than the other.
27:28Hello, folks.
27:29Welcome to XM, Donald.
27:30Let me ask you, how did the teams do?
27:32What did you think?
27:33I think they did well.
27:34I think they produced two really good records,
27:37and I think that there is a clear winner between the two.
27:40Oh, really?
27:41Yes, there is.
27:42We're really excited.
27:43We'd love to bring the teams in and let you know our thoughts.
27:44I'd love you to do that.
27:46Great.
27:47Bring them in.
27:54Go ahead.
27:55I'd love to hear this.
27:56Capitol Edge, I really felt that when you listened to this record,
27:59I knew who Levi was.
28:00I felt that it fit Cafe very, very well as well.
28:03Xcel, we thought that the presentation, you had a great story to tell,
28:06and we were looking forward to hearing it,
28:08and we really weren't quite getting that story from the artist into that song.
28:13There was a little bit of a disconnect from a couple of the callers that called in
28:16that didn't understand why a record that was produced that way was actually on the Cafe.
28:21Who won?
28:22The risk that the Xcel Corporation took was a big risk.
28:25By creating a record that may not have been consistent with the musical format of XM Cafe,
28:30and they printed the wrong channel number in front of our entire executive team.
28:35On the other hand, Capitol Edge created a great record.
28:38The smartest move that they made was making a record that fit XM Cafe.
28:42Clearly, Capitol Edge is the winner.
28:46That's good.
28:47Very good.
28:48It's a very good record.
28:49Congratulations.
28:53Felicia, congratulations.
28:55You were the project manager.
28:56The bad news is, Felicia, because we're nearing the end,
28:59should you lose next week, you will not be exempt.
29:01The good news is you won, so enjoy it.
29:04All right?
29:05Yes.
29:06For your reward, we're going to get into my helicopter.
29:09As you've probably heard, I've built lots of buildings in Manhattan.
29:13We're going to circle those buildings in the helicopter.
29:16I'm going to talk about each building.
29:18There are a lot of them, so it could be a long flight.
29:20You've got to remember that the person that ultimately becomes my apprentice
29:25will help me to continue to develop this great skyline
29:29and keep it the greatest skyline anywhere in the world.
29:32As far as Excel is concerned, I'll see you in the boardroom.
29:35Somebody will be fired.
29:36I'm fired.
29:53Plenty of room, huh?
29:55Better than we thought.
29:57Circle 40 Wall Street.
29:59Circle the Empire State Building.
30:01Circle Trump World Tower opposite the United Nations and the United Nations.
30:05Okay.
30:09Hey, Rich.
30:10So we'll go from my side, you know?
30:22We're covering a lot of territory.
30:24If you did this in a car, it would take you all day.
30:27It's going to take us 20 minutes.
30:29The reward was good, but because it was with Mr. Trump, it was great.
30:34It would have been nice, but the fact that Mr. Trump came with us
30:37and we got some one-on-one time with him,
30:39Willie saying, yeah, see that building?
30:41I own that one, I own that one, I own that one.
30:44That was amazing.
30:46This building is Trump Palace, and that's a condominium, very high end.
30:50And this was the tallest building on each side of Manhattan when I built it.
30:54And now I've eclipsed it by doing Trump World Tower.
30:58Trump to me is power, and he is the king of New York.
31:02He's chosen every word and every gesture, everything.
31:05He lives for the city.
31:09This is 40 Wall Street.
31:11I bought it for a million dollars.
31:13It's now worth $400 million.
31:15It's totally full.
31:16That's a copper roof, pure copper roof.
31:19And to me, that's the most beautiful top of any building in Manhattan.
31:23Gorgeous.
31:27Now here's a beauty that's coming up.
31:29This is the Empire State Building.
31:31I recently sold the land under the Empire State Building, which I own.
31:34And it's amazing.
31:36I mean, it's an amazing building.
31:43Here's the Statue of Liberty, one of the truly beautiful symbols
31:47of anything, anywhere in the world.
31:50No matter where you go in the world,
31:52there's nothing more beautiful than that.
31:57It was definitely emotional to see the Statue of Liberty.
31:59I also felt an immediate connection to my father.
32:02My dad came to the U.S. with nothing in his pocket,
32:05and I'm sitting in a helicopter with Mr. Trump.
32:08I feel like I'm not just living a dream for myself,
32:11but my father and my mom.
32:13It was just a few seconds of pure bliss.
32:17Not bad, Adam.
32:18This is a good life.
32:19So if you make a lot of money, this is the way you're going to live, Adam.
32:29I think it's the toughest loss I've had since I've been here.
32:32I mean, it's the hardest loss I've taken since I've been here.
32:35It's hard.
32:36It's a subjective task, and they said we did a good job,
32:39and it was finer points that made me to break it,
32:42and maybe it's, you know, putting down the wrong channel.
32:45I dropped the ball.
32:46The poster that I had worked on had the wrong XM channel.
32:49I have to answer to that in the boardroom,
32:51and just be honest that I made a mistake,
32:53and I'm not going to do it again.
32:56I have to answer to that in the boardroom,
32:58and just be honest that I missed that detail completely.
33:01And our song hits the edge.
33:03It did. It was so hot.
33:05It was a hot song.
33:06I think, honestly, that if Randall and I had worked alone on this project together,
33:11we probably would have produced a better outcome than with Clay on the team.
33:14Clay completely derailed the process.
33:17He usurped my power consistently on the task.
33:20Clay should be fired because he's simply a distraction.
33:23Raw deal.
33:24Raw deal.
33:25What are you going to do?
33:49Hi. You can go right into the boardroom.
34:15So you lost.
34:17Hard loss.
34:18Who was responsible for writing the song?
34:20We together as a group wrote the song, Mr. Trump.
34:22What does that mean, together as a group?
34:23How do you write it together as a group?
34:25It was a group process, and each of us had input to the song.
34:28Clay, weren't you considered the creative person on this team?
34:30I was supposed to be, yes, sir.
34:32So what happened?
34:33Rebecca was the PM, and I started off with a different concept.
34:36I was interviewing the guy to see kind of what his music style was and things like that.
34:40One of the things that I found out is he's a middle child,
34:43and he's always going to ask himself, what about me?
34:45And I really wanted us to go in that direction.
34:47And when I brought that up, Rebecca told me that that's not the direction that she wanted to go in.
34:51Is that true, Rebecca?
34:52Well, his song, What About Me, I couldn't envision a 24-year-old male from Nigeria
34:58singing a song that said, what about me?
35:00It seemed a little bit whiny and a little bit too weak.
35:03Why did you make Clay the so-called creative person?
35:06Do you think he's more talented than you?
35:08Because maybe I should just fire you right now.
35:09I actually, in this task, thought less of Clay's creativity than I have previously.
35:14Do you think that Clay is more creative than Randall?
35:16I do, Mr. Trump.
35:19When Clay was with other teams, he didn't seem to get along with them very well.
35:23Do you think Clay brought the team down?
35:25Working with Clay, we did butt heads.
35:27And I'm not sure if that is what some of the other team leaders have felt was an issue with Clay.
35:34One thing I've learned about Rebecca, she's honest.
35:36If nothing else, she's honest.
35:37And I hope you've learned that about me as well.
35:39Well, I think I've learned you're difficult.
35:41Because on so many teams, you haven't gotten along.
35:44And you've taken these two people, who have been stars, and all of a sudden they're like reduced to nothing.
35:53How long did you take to actually come up with your presentation?
35:56When I was originally framing the presentation, I was framing it as a story.
36:00And Clay came to me and said, we don't want to hear a story.
36:03And he started playing the fake violin, telling me that I was basically giving a sob story to the executives.
36:08Is that true, Clay?
36:09When it came time for the presentation, I said, hey, we don't need to be telling the story the whole time.
36:13Because we're giving the biography, we're going to tell them about him.
36:16But then we also need to tell these other things.
36:18And that's when I shot her down on that.
36:20Why didn't G-Day speak?
36:22I wanted him to speak. Clay did not want him to.
36:25Clay, isn't that a little stupid?
36:26I mean, you're trying to sell somebody, but please stand over here, but don't speak.
36:29Why?
36:30Because we were supposed to be selling this guy.
36:33And I wanted his voice to come out in the music.
36:35But that's not the presentation.
36:36I mean, who better to talk about the man's story than the man himself?
36:39If that was a mistake on my part, I think it was one of very few small mistakes.
36:44And you also put the wrong channel on your poster.
36:46That was my responsibility, and I take full responsibility for that.
36:49I worked on the poster. That had nothing to do with neither Rebecca nor Clay. That was mine.
36:53What was the right channel?
36:5445.
36:55Isn't that almost a firing-type mistake, Randall?
36:57I take full responsibility for that.
36:59I worked on the poster. That had nothing to do with neither Rebecca nor Clay. That was mine.
37:03What was the right channel?
37:0445.
37:05Isn't that almost a firing-type mistake, Randall?
37:08That's a biggie.
37:09It's not small, Mr. Trump. It's not a small mistake.
37:12From my perspective, it's a huge mistake.
37:14And that's surprising, because Randall's been a star.
37:17And I have always considered Randall a star.
37:19Do you still think he's a star, or have you lost respect for Randall?
37:22I think that Randall, in this task, started to miss some of the main points.
37:29What do you think of that, Randall?
37:30I think that's ridiculous.
37:31Actually, Randall, what did you do right on this task?
37:33It was my idea to have marketing materials, period.
37:36Of course, I have materials with the wrong channels.
37:38You're right.
37:39You might be better off not having any materials.
37:41True.
37:42George, what do you think?
37:43That's not why they lost.
37:45They didn't listen to the customer.
37:47You didn't present what XM Cafe sells to the people.
37:51You didn't give them alternative rock.
37:53And the audience didn't know what they were listening to.
37:55We took a risk by taking today and taking the XM Cafe sound and just challenging it just a bit.
38:02You didn't take a risk.
38:03You committed suicide.
38:06Once you decide you're going to change the format of a station to a listener, you lose the audience.
38:12You all made mistakes.
38:14All three, and we admit that.
38:16Clay, do you admit that?
38:17All of you made mistakes.
38:18Clay, one of the points Rebecca made was the fact that you're very, very hard to work with.
38:25And I just wonder whether or not you affected negatively these two people.
38:32Rebecca, you've been outstanding.
38:34There's no question about that.
38:35But this week you were not outstanding at all.
38:37Your presentation in particular was not good.
38:41So I'm not exactly thrilled with your performance or, frankly, your leadership abilities.
38:47Randall, I think I'm probably most disappointed with you.
38:52Road scholar, brilliant guy.
38:55You're too good to put on a performance like you did.
38:58And I think you admit that.
38:59I do.
39:00I don't think any of you should be proud of the performance this week.
39:06But in life, you have to look at past events.
39:11And that's called history.
39:13Too many countries, too many businesses have been destroyed by not studying history.
39:19Clay, Rebecca told me she couldn't work with you again.
39:23Other teammates of yours told me they couldn't work with you again.
39:28Alice said it.
39:29Adam said it.
39:30They were so happy when you left that team.
39:33You're supposed to be creative.
39:35But no matter which team you're on, all you do is create problems.
39:38Clay, you're fired.
40:14Now that you changed something, that's okay.
40:17You did a good job, man.
40:18You said something you didn't have to say.
40:20I'll see you, man.
40:21You too.
40:22All right.
40:23Good.
40:29Bye, Clay.
40:30Bye.
40:31Have fun.
40:32You too.
40:39This was a tough order.
40:40That was not an easy one, but you have to rely on the past.
40:58This is the future.
40:59This is the future.
41:00I hope.
41:01I hope.
41:02I hope.
41:03I hope.
41:04I hope.
41:05I hope.
41:06I hope.
41:07I hope.
41:24Rebecca and Randall don't have any creative bones in their body,
41:27and they don't have a chance at all as a team.
41:29They are going to lose the next task horribly,
41:32especially with Rebecca with a broken ankle.
41:34I feel sorry for the three people on Capitol Edge that are left,
41:37especially for Adam and Felicia,
41:40because they're going to see a different side of life,
41:42because now that I'm gone,
41:43Ola doesn't have anybody to pick on,
41:45and they're next.
