00:00So guys today we will be comparing the Xiaomi 14 to the Galaxy S24 here, two really awesome
00:07smaller flagship phones and I think smaller phones are becoming really good in 2024 thanks
00:14to the chip efficiency and the battery life.
00:18So let's go ahead and start off with the design, obviously the design is going to come down
00:21to what your taste is, but two really nice phones, they're both very easy to hold in
00:26one hand.
00:27I wouldn't necessarily call these compact phones, I don't think anything is compact
00:31unless it's under 6 inches, but yeah they're easy to hold so if you don't like the bigger
00:36phones at 6.8, 6.9 inches, you'll really like these phones, they're pretty easy to manage
00:42in one hand.
00:43They both are kind of boxy though, they're both kind of sharp on the edges a little bit
00:49as well, something that I noticed and it's fine like I said, since it's not as big, it's
00:54not really that big of an issue.
00:57But they both have that premium hardware to them, they both have that matte finish on
01:01the back as well too that doesn't pick up fingerprints and I'm really loving the design
01:06on here.
01:07Alright so let's talk about the display, so the Xiaomi 14 does have an LTPO OLED display,
01:13it's 120Hz with Dolby Vision HDR10+, this phone has a max peak brightness of 3000 nits
01:19peak brightness in direct sunlight at 6.36 inches, it's 1200 x 2670 resolution, 460 for
01:27the PPI, the S24 it does have the dynamic LTPO AMOLED display, 120Hz HDR10+, 2600 nits
01:36peak brightness, it is a 1080p plus display, 460 for the PPI.
01:42So the Xiaomi does have a higher resolution as well, it's not quite 1440p but it is a
01:47higher resolution than the S24, it's not really that noticeable for the most part.
01:53One thing I do notice is that the S24's display seems to be a little bit more colorful and
01:58then also the bezels seem to be a little bit thinner on the S24 as well too.
02:03And as far as the display quality, I mean they both look really good, like I said, very
02:07minor display differences as far as the specs goes.
02:12But yeah, I think that both displays are actually pretty similar than different, but
02:17yeah I do think Samsung does have the more saturated display and I guess the more aesthetically
02:21pleasing display with the slightly slimmer bezels.
02:25Like I said, it is very slight but you can kind of see it at like the bottom, the bottom
02:29bezels.
02:30Samsung has really gotten this down to a science, just these really small bezels.
02:34So I do like the S24's display, I think Samsung is making some of the best displays, but the
02:39Xiaomi 14 is crazy bright outdoors, I mean it is really, really bright guys in direct
02:44sunlight.
02:45I would show you guys, but unfortunately it's kind of like raining outside and stuff like
02:49that, but it is really bright.
02:51They're both super bright though, so in direct sunlight you'd be perfectly fine here, but
02:56I think two really good displays on here.
02:58Alright, so let's talk about the specs a little bit more here.
03:02So the Xiaomi 14 is running the Android 14 Hyper OS, Snapdragon 8.3 processor, and then
03:08256 gigs of internal storage, 8 gigs of RAM on the base model.
03:13This one is the 512 gigabyte, 12 gigs of RAM.
03:16The S24 is running the Android 14 One UI 6, and then you also have on here the Snapdragon
03:228 Gen 3, 128 gigs of internal storage, and 8 gigs of RAM on the base model.
03:28So what I do like about the base model on the Xiaomi 14 is that you get more storage,
03:32so you don't have to pay as much, which is really nice.
03:35Now as far as the scores go, they're virtually identical here.
03:40Like I said, it's running the same chipset.
03:42Yeah, so you're not going to notice too much of a speed difference.
03:45Honestly, they feel pretty much identical in terms of speed.
03:51They literally feel pretty much on par with each other.
03:53We can try to open up some more apps, let's see, do Subway Surf.
04:00Now I think Xiaomi's OS has gotten really smooth over the time, but it does have a little
04:08bit of, I guess, bloatware in it, because it does have a ton of applications that I
04:15didn't install and I just left it on there.
04:17You can uninstall them, of course, but I think you get, I guess, a more premium experience
04:22with the software with the S24.
04:26But like I said, there's trade-offs because you get the charger in the box on the Xiaomi
04:29as well too.
04:30So that's why I don't really fuss about them putting pre-installed applications on it because
04:34they are giving you quite a bit when it comes to that charger.
04:38And yeah, so speed-wise, you're not going to notice too much of a difference at all.
04:42When it comes to the OS, it really comes down to your personal preference on what you like.
04:46I do like WhenUI a little bit more.
04:48I think it has its own look.
04:50To me, Xiaomi's OS kind of reminds me of an iPhone, which is not bad.
04:54It has that kind of iPhone look when it comes to the control panel for some reason.
05:00But yeah, I do like what Samsung is doing, especially with the AI stuff as well.
05:06It has that software advantage as well too.
05:08A ton of AI stuff on here, which I think is really good.
05:14But yeah, so not a big difference when it comes to speed, software, there's quite a
05:20big difference.
05:21I think Samsung desktop support is also really useful as well too.
05:24Good luck as well.
05:25So there's a big software difference here.
05:28I think Samsung definitely comes out on top when it comes to the software experience.
05:33Now when it comes to the gaming experience, both of these phones do a really good job
05:37here and yeah, so it pretty much plays at the same settings.
05:43And like I said, gaming on these smaller phones is so much better, for me at least.
05:48You know, the size is just perfect.
05:51And yeah, they both play PUBG at 90 frames, it's really smooth and like I said, because
05:55of the battery life is so good on these smaller phones, you can kind of enjoy gaming a little
05:59bit more here.
06:00But we get pretty much the same settings, not really getting any overheating issues
06:04with these phones as well too, which is really nice.
06:08So gaming experience is going to be pretty good on both of these devices for years and
06:12years to come.
06:14Now there is one thing that I wanted to mention, the S24 will have a longer software update
06:19cycle.
06:20So you will have 7 years of major OS updates and then the Xiaomi will get 4 years of updates
06:26and 5 years of security patches.
06:29So you will have more major OS updates on the S24, which is pretty sweet.
06:35Basically Samsung match Google.
06:37And yeah, you will have a longer lifespan as well.
06:41I do want to talk about some of the additional features like the IR blaster on the Xiaomi
06:4714 is just really, really good.
06:49I think it's extremely underrated.
06:51To use the Mi Remote and yeah, control your TV, smart box, fans, DVD player, whatever.
06:58It's just extremely useful to have one device to use, you know, as a controller.
07:04I think it's just really cool and I think it's something that I wish Samsung would implement
07:07as well.
07:08But yeah, that's one thing that I absolutely love is the infrared port on the Xiaomi 14.
07:15I do want to go ahead and talk about the speakers.
07:17All right, so we got both speakers, max volume.
07:20Let's go ahead and here we'll start with the Xiaomi.
07:47Um, not necessarily one is more impressive than the other.
08:11I do like the way, I do think the S24 sounds cleaner.
08:18Yeah, the S24 to me sounds way cleaner.
08:23They're about the same volume though.
08:25It's just, I do like the sound that the S24 is giving off.
08:28It just sounds clean.
08:30Now the fingerprint scanners feel pretty much the same for the most part.
08:34I think the, on the Xiaomi, it's a little bit like lower than I would like, but not
08:39that big of a deal.
08:40Like I said, they feel virtually the same, which is really nice.
08:44You can also take advantage of face unlock too.
08:47All right, so let's talk about the image quality on both of these phones.
08:51Starting with the Xiaomi, it has a 50 megapixel standard and a 50 megapixel telephoto with
08:56a 3.2 optical zoom and then a 50 megapixel ultra wide.
09:00It can shoot an 8K 24 and then has a 32 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
09:06The S24 has a 50 megapixel standard and a 10 megapixel telephoto, three times optical
09:12zoom and a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
09:14It's using 8K 24 and 30 with a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60.
09:21I took some side by side stills and video.
09:23Be sure to let me know what you guys think and which camera do you like more.
10:36All right.
11:06Let's talk about battery life.
11:07I'm definitely going to give this category to the Xiaomi 14 pretty much because it has
11:12just as good a battery life as the S24, but you also get the 90 watt charger in the box
11:19compared to the 25 watt max charging that you can do on the S24.
11:23It just charges way faster.
11:25It can go from zero to 100 in 31 minutes, which is absolutely insane.
11:30It also has 50 watt wireless charging as well too, which can go from zero to 146 minutes.
11:37You also have 10 watt reverse wireless charging as well.
11:41The S24, like I said, 25 watts, 15 watt wireless and reverse wireless charging.
11:47It's just a more impressive phone, the Xiaomi 14, when it comes to battery life and the
11:51charging experience.
11:53Also, it does have a much bigger battery at 4,600 milliamps.
11:59And the S24 has a 4,000 milliamp hour battery as well too.
12:03But surprisingly for the S24 to have such a much smaller battery, it still has just
12:09as good battery life though.
12:10So I think Samsung software optimization is just really coming in clutch here.
12:16So yeah.
12:17So really, really good phones from both companies.
12:20Absolutely love them.
12:22It really comes down to your personal preference on which phone you would pick.
12:25Be sure to let me know which phone you would pick and why.
12:28And I'll catch you guys in the next one.
