00:00As of 10 in the evening,
00:02the coastal waters of the town of Bulinao in Pangasinan
00:05witnessed the center of this severe tropical storm, Christine.
00:09It remains at 95 km per hour,
00:11close to its center,
00:13and there is still an uptick of up to 145 km per hour.
00:17It should be noted that this storm, Christine,
00:20was very slow to move since earlier this afternoon,
00:23so we still hope that most of Luzon,
00:26especially the western sides of Ilocos,
00:29the central part of Luzon,
00:32and even here in southern Luzon,
00:34the other side of Metro Manila,
00:36the outer rain bands associated with this storm, Christine, are visible.
00:42Based on the latest forecast,
00:44it is expected that within the next 24 hours,
00:46it will move away from our land
00:48until the Philippine Area of Responsibility
00:51is released later in the afternoon or early evening,
00:53the center of this storm, Christine.
00:56However, given the width of this storm, Christine,
00:59with a radius of around 700 to 750 km,
01:02with a diameter of around 1,400 km,
01:06a large portion of Luzon will still be exposed to strong winds
01:10for the next one to two days.
01:13We are still seeing this as a severe tropical storm.
01:17There is a strong storm, categorically,
01:20and it may continue to move away from our land,
01:24but we can see here in our latest track
01:27that by Sunday, it will slow down
01:30and by Monday to Tuesday,
01:33it will return in the opposite direction.
01:35It will return in the direction of Luzon,
01:37this storm, Christine.
01:39We can see that it may enter or approach our land
01:43and we have not yet analyzed the chance
01:46that it will return to our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
01:49It is still possible for this storm, Christine, to change tracks
01:52so please stay tuned for our updates.
01:57Meanwhile, aside from the storm, Christine,
01:59we are still monitoring two weather disturbances
02:02outside our Area of Responsibility over the Pacific Ocean.
02:06One of them is the low-pressure area that was formed just yesterday
02:10and is located 2,520 km east of Visayas.
02:15There is still a small chance that this will be a storm.
02:17Meanwhile, the low-pressure area earlier today
02:20became a tropical depression as of 8 in the evening.
02:25Last night, it was 2,045 km east of Mindanao
02:30and there was an increase of 55 km per hour near the center.
02:34These two weather disturbances are far from our land
02:38and there is no direct effect expected within two days.
02:42We can see the scenario that this low-pressure area
02:45is possible to become a trough or just a part
02:47of the tropical depression below
02:49and the tropical depression that will slowly approach our land.
02:55Based on the Tropical Cyclone Threat Potential Forecast,
02:59from now until Wednesday,
03:02the storm will continue to move west-northwest.
03:05While it is slowly getting stronger,
03:07we are not taking away the chance of it becoming a severe tropical storm or typhoon
03:11when it enters our Philippine Area of Responsibility
03:14either late Saturday until Sunday morning.
03:20Then when Wednesday arrives,
03:22until next weekend,
03:24we can see that the storm will move slowly
03:26here in the North Philippine Sea
03:28of this incoming storm that we will call the Lion Storm.
03:31And we can see that there will be a peak or recurvature.
03:34The movement will be slow,
03:35close to the extreme northern zone
03:37when it arrives late next week.
03:39When the weekend arrives,
03:40it will move in the direction of the eastern part of Taiwan
03:43and the Philippine Area of Responsibility may move out next weekend.
03:48We can also see that,
03:49based on our Tropical Cyclone Threat Potential Forecast,
03:53the storm Christine may approach one by one
03:56while it is still outside and will enter our Area of Responsibility next week
04:00and this storm that we will call the Lion Storm.
04:02So we are not taking away the chance
04:04that there will be an interaction,
04:05what is called the Fuji Water Effect,
04:07when their distances reach less than 1,400 kilometers
04:12and if it still remains,
04:14it is still in the Tropical Storm category.
04:17So we are always on alert.
04:18There is a high chance that our scenario will change
04:21regarding these two storms.
04:26For now, the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals
