00:00Holy moly, this is an epic setup. I've got the honor magic v3 portable phone
00:05I've got the magic pad to tablet and I've got this the brand new on a magic book art
00:1014 snapdragon
00:12This is actually very special for a few reasons including that it's on his first
00:16Snapdragon X series powered laptop and also this is one of I don't even know who like a few in the world right now and
00:23Somehow I've got my grubby paws on it. If I look at the box it came in
00:26They haven't even put the name on it yet
00:27It's so early so big
00:29Thank you to honor for sending these out for me to play with and in this video
00:31I'm gonna walk you through each one tell you a little bit about them, but there's also something extra
00:35I want to show you honor have a proper ecosystem now, and it's kind of amazing
00:39I have a phone a tablet and a laptop here
00:42But you've also got smart watches earphones and this ecosystem is all tied together through this magic ring
00:48Which is an incredibly simple way of showing what devices you have and you can literally drag and drop say
00:54Screen-sharing from one device to the other but I'll come back to all this in a second because first
00:58I actually want to show you around these guys the honor magic book 14 art as I say
01:04This is the very first laptop powered by a snapdragon X series chip from honor
01:09I want you to answer one thing for me
01:12Where is the webcam?
01:15It's certainly not in the usual place. In fact, this has one of the thinnest bezels I've ever seen on a laptop
01:20We're talking 97% screen-to-body ratio
01:23I think this is really clever on the side here with a little press out pops this magnetic camera a fully detachable
01:30Webcam that's hidden away when you don't need it. So great for privacy great for saving space on the screen and the bezel
01:35But then when you do need it, it just pops onto the top of the screen here and about a second later
01:39The full HD AI webcam comes to life. I even know the fact that it is reversible
01:44You can literally flip it around so you can show people
01:46Well the back of your desk whatever you like, but you can use it front or rear facing whatever you fancy
01:51And of course being a copilot plus PC. We get all the fancy Windows Studio effects, including eye contact
01:56I suppose the only downside is that it does take up some room where otherwise maybe they could have squeezed in a SD card reader
02:03We don't have one. Unfortunately. Also, you might lose it as a chance of that. It is a little bit fiddly
02:09Just be careful of that. And of course, we don't know about long-term durability, but even so I absolutely love this. It's innovative
02:14It's different and so far. It seems to be working really well
02:18So as it says on the tin the art 14 is a 14-inch laptop
02:22Well 14.6 inches to be exact and it weighs just one kilogram, which is about 2.2 pounds and old money for context
02:29The smaller MacBook Air 13 is 2.7 pounds
02:32It's using a magnesium alloy chassis with a titanium keyboard apparently, but unlike a lot of super thin and light laptops
02:39It doesn't feel flimsy
02:41There is a little bit of flex if you press firmly in the center, but it looks good. It feels nice
02:45There's barely any screen wobble and at its thickest point
02:48We're talking just 11.5 millimeters and tapering down to just 10
02:53It only comes in one color this fairly understated starry gray
02:56Which I think looks quite smart the power button doubles as a fingerprint reader and in terms of ports
03:01USB a 3.2 Gen ones and HDMI 2.1 and a three and a half mil headphone jack and on the other side two USB C
03:073.2 Gen twos along with that secret webcam
03:10We get a really solid six speaker sound system built in with the speakers flanking the keyboard here and it supports spatial audio when you
03:17Can find options for this and pretty much everything else with an honest PC manager app
03:21Also, have a look at this touchpad
03:23It literally goes right to the front and falls off the edge
03:27And I like a lot of cheaper laptops that have those diving board
03:30Design touch pads where it's easy to press down at the bottom of the top. I don't really like that
03:34This is a full haptic feedback touchpad across the whole thing so you can press anywhere
03:38It's just the same and also we have gestures
03:41You can swipe up on the left side to change the brightness and also on the right side
03:45For the volume and you get a nice little bit of feedback
03:49Vibration might even be able to hear that
03:52You can actually adjust that in the settings altogether
03:55It is a beautifully crafted laptop and I just can't get over those bezels and how thin this screen is
03:59I'm gonna call it their full view touch display. So it is a touchscreen
04:03It's also a taller more squarish 3 by 2 aspect ratio. It's OLED. We have a 3k resolution
04:10It's 120 Hertz brightness tops out at an impressive 700 nits in HDR. We're looking at a hundred percent DCI p3
04:17However, this aspect ratio means that if you are watching lots of videos and movies on it
04:21You are going to get chunkier letterboxing compared to more typical 16 by 9 or 16 by 10 displays
04:26Maybe the best bit though is they've borrowed from their phones and tablets and given this a
04:324320 Hertz PWM dimming rate and it goes a long way in reducing eyestrain
04:37Particularly for OLED screens and particularly at lower brightnesses for some people this could be reason enough to buy one
04:42What also makes this special is it is honors first snapdragon powered laptop. We have the x1 a
04:498100 chip which is kind of like the mid-tier of the flagship level excellent chips
04:54Above the 78 below the 84 and that's alongside 32 gigs of RAM and a terabyte of storage now as I mentioned earlier
05:00This is a pre-release sample. So unfortunately, I can't run any performance tests or battery benchmarks
05:06although on a do say that the 60 watt hour battery that they've
05:10Squeezed in here is good for nine and a half hours of actual work use that's running on the PC mark 10 benchmark
05:17Apparently that's their results
05:18So that turns out to be realistic then the battery life on this is gonna be very impressive as I say
05:22I'll have to come back in a full review
05:23But if it's anything like the other snapdragon laptops, I reviewed over the last few months then performance will be very good
05:29Rivaling chips from Intel and AMD or at least the ones that came out earlier this year
05:33But also giving us much better battery life, especially standby time and also often feeling a lot more responsive in Windows
05:39And of course one of the big selling points of these snapdragon chips is the MPU. They all have the same 45 tops
05:46MPU of AI performance
05:47Which means they also are the first to support Windows Copa plus features other Intel and AMD laptops will be coming out
05:54Before the end of the year also supporting it. But for now snapdragon is the first so you're getting live captions
05:59Getting co-creator recall when they eventually launch it and also Windows Studio effects to be honest, though
06:05We are still in the early stages of local AI in terms of stuff actually running here and not actually in the cloud
06:10It's more about future-proofing and also more about trying to offload what otherwise the CPU or the GPU would use
06:16Onto the MPU and as more hardware comes out then developers will optimize more their apps and features to take advantage of the MPU
06:23Hopefully these will get even better and better as AI is really tapped into the downside
06:27Of course with the snapdragon chips is app compatibility being built on an ARM architecture rather than a traditional x86 Intel or AMD
06:35Not every app will run or run
06:37Well, the vast majority will and actually some that are well optimized for these chips will run even better
06:42But you can't guarantee it. So for some people that will put you off buying a snapdragon laptop at least right away
06:47We are in a bit of a transition period
06:48But if you're confident the apps you're gonna use will run well on this then this honor magic book 14 R is definitely worth considering
06:54This is one of the nicest laptops I've used all the year and it's even better if you pair it with an honor phone
07:00Like this one perhaps
07:01This is the honor magic v3 and I've actually posted a full in-depth video on this guy and I'll leave a link at the end
07:06If you missed it, but to give you the quick and dirty version
07:09They've basically taken last year's v2 and made it better in pretty much every way. It's even thinner and lighter
07:15We're talking 9.3 millimeters folded or 4.35 millimeters when opened up
07:20Which is just nuts and yet somehow they've also added 50 watt wireless charging
07:25They've added water resistance with IPX 8 we get an even tougher frame even tougher glass brighter screens
07:31We have the latest snapdragon 8 gen 3 chip a bigger battery
07:34It is a big upgrade and next to the fold 6
07:37It feels like a generation ahead and I much prefer this wider cover screen
07:42And of course, we have honors high PWM dimming for both the cover and the tablet screens
07:46They've also upgraded the cameras with a big jump in resolution for the telephoto now offering a 3.5 times optical zoom
07:52We also have their AI portrait engine and like they're on a 200 Pro that launched recently
07:57We have these three studio Harcourt portrait modes on the v3
08:00And of course, it wouldn't be an honor phone without their AI motion sensing camera
08:04which uses AI and a high shutter speed to capture fast moving subjects like your dog or your cat or your children or
08:10Even yourself jumping around like an idiot in pin sharp focus
08:14The v3 with the latest magic OS 8 software also adds some nifty new AI features from AI eraser in the gallery
08:21We have a new face-to-face live translation app
08:24And of course, we have magic portal and magic ring which I will come back to in just a second
08:29No doubt. It will be quite expensive. It is a flagship foldable phone. But of course you do have other options
08:34This is the magic 6 Pro. You've got the more affordable are 200 200 Pro as well
08:38So a pretty good range of phones, whatever your budget but to round up this little
08:43Menage a trois, whatever you want to call it. We have the honor magic pad 2 with all the bells and whistles here
08:49This is the magic pencil 3
08:50We've got the magic smart keyboard all of which you can get with the tablet as a bundle or you can get it by itself
08:56Two color options black or moonlight white which I have here
08:59Which is definitely giving marble kitchen countertop vibes and just look how thin that is
09:055.8 millimeters. It doesn't quite beat the new iPad pros for ultimate thinness, but it's not far off
09:1212.4 inch 144 Hertz OLED screen
09:17That was close also tops out at 1600 nits of brightness and like the phone like the laptop
09:22We also have a high PWM dimming rate 43 20 Hertz again
09:26And then inside we have the snapdragon 8s gen 3, which is their latest kind of upper mid-range chip
09:32It's not as fast as the 8th gen 3
09:34But it does allow on it to keep the price down a little bit
09:36But but but but but but the main reason I wanted to make this for you today is to show what happens
09:43when you actually invest in the honor ecosystem because I actually made a video just a couple of weeks ago about Apple versus Samsung who had
09:49The best ecosystem although I didn't make a mistake there because it turns out Samsung also make tanks and build buildings and hospitals and everything
09:56Under the Sun, although it's not strictly tied within the same ecosystem of consumer tech
10:00But anyway, I was comparing Apple and Samsung because for most people these are considered the two big ecosystems
10:04right the big two families of products, but
10:07Since spending some time with these guys and with honors relatively new magic ring and on a share
10:13Color me impressed. This is really really good and I showed you this at the start
10:17But this is honors magic ring and it shows you a little on a family where you can share files
10:22Screen share teller a hotspot and a whole bunch more you just tap on each device
10:26It'll show you the options you have and then you literally drag and drop
10:30But let me give you a quick example of how you could utilize all this together
10:34So let's open the magic book. And as I say being a snapdragon laptop, we have the copilot plus features
10:39So in Microsoft paints was it Windows paint just paint we have co-creator and while I could draw using the screen because it's a touchscreen
10:47It's not the best experience a better idea would be to use the magic pad
10:50So I've now shared my laptop screen to the tablet
10:53So then I can use the magic pencil 3 for more precise and well, it's gonna say higher quality drawing
10:59There's only so much quality that I can actually create here
11:01But I've got my little cat next to my telephone box in co-creator pop it back into the keyboard
11:06I can then type in the prompt I want within co-creator which to be honest seems to do most of the work as opposed to
11:12Natural drawing but here we are with a big orange fluffy cat in a red British phone box
11:17And then I'll save it to the desktop, but I think we can make it even better than that
11:20So if I bring in the v3 here using the magic ring
11:23I'm gonna share the phone screen onto the laptop and this is one way of transferring files
11:28I could also use quick share on a share, but this is more fun
11:30So I've literally just dragged and dropped from my laptop desktop into the phones gallery and it's there
11:36So now it's on my phone. I can then open up into its full foldable glory
11:40I can tap the AI eraser tool and just make a few tweaks
11:43I quite like the big Ben there, but it maybe distracts a bit also this text a I never does text very well
11:48So let's try and get rid of that as well
11:49And so using the AI eraser tool within the gallery app, which to be fair
11:53I could also have done on the tablets
11:55I've cleaned it up a little bit and then to finish things off
11:57I can long press drag it to the edge of the screen using magic portal drop it on Instagram and post it Bob's your uncle
12:03And whiskers meowing turns you and got my v3 here. Let's drag the screen mirroring over to the laptop
12:09There is a small amount of delay
12:11But it's still absolutely usable and I love the fact that if I open the v3 up you get the full tablet screen on the laptop
12:17That is very nifty now
12:18I mentioned the AI eraser tool earlier when I was talking about v3, but with screen mirroring using magic ring
12:23I can also do this all on the laptop screen if I want or indeed even the magic pad tablet and
12:28Then once my photo is ready, I can literally drag and drop it onto the desktop and it will copy it across
12:33I look at this
12:34I am mirroring my phone screen to both the laptop and the tablet at the same time and
12:38As it says on the tin the magic book art 14
12:41Snapdragon we get all the Windows Copilot features and for me having the tablet with the laptop makes the most sense for
12:46extending my desktop space
12:48but it also means I could use the pen with co-creator on the tablet and then continue to use Copilot on a laptop or
12:53Whatever else and unlike a traditional point-to-point connection
12:56The honor magic ring allows multiple devices on the same account to automatically connect with low power consumption and also with honors AI enabled magic
13:04Ring you're getting all the benefits of the different platforms including Google's Gemini and Windows Copilot across different devices
13:11I can also drag the photography service over to either the laptop or the tablet and then take a photo using the phone's camera tap
13:16The checkbox and it's automatically saved on the other device
13:19So that just gives you a little taste of what you can do with magic ring on a show and just utilizing the whole
13:25Honor family, of course, you don't have to buy all this it does get quite expensive
13:28But like with any ecosystem you can maybe just start with a phone doesn't necessarily have to be a folding phone and then you know
13:34expand from there and if you do fancy checking out any of these things the magic book art 14 the
13:38Magic v3 or the magic pad 2 then I will leave links in the description below
13:42Any questions at all drop a comment and if you do find this video useful, then a cheeky like and subscribe would be fantastic
13:47Thank you so much for watching guys and whiskers meowing till and I will see you next time right here on the tech chat
