00:00What's up guys? Today we got the Galaxy S21 FE versus the S23 FE. I think this is an even
00:07tougher sell than the S20 FE going to the S23 FE. Let me know what you guys think. I
00:14was playing around with these two phones and are there any actual real upgrades is the
00:18actual question here. So let's go ahead and get started. The S21 FE is a really good phone
00:24in the used refurbished marketplace. You can get it for in the upper $200 price range and
00:30it's an excellent buy. I have a ton of videos on it. S23 FE brand new going to cost you
00:35$630. And let's just go ahead and dive in and see if we can find any type of actual
00:41upgrade here. So design wise you do have a more slightly modern design here. Samsung
00:47pretty much going with this design on all of their phones this year. And it looks really
00:52nice for the most part. I think the S21 still looks great as well too. You can see the big
00:58difference with the camera bump on here. But besides that there's not too much going on.
01:03The S21 FE does have a plastic back so it doesn't feel as premium as the glass back.
01:09But the thing about plastic is that you can't crack the back as easy. They both have these
01:14metal sides as well too. So they have still a nice premium feel to these phones. Yeah
01:21that's pretty much it with the hardware. They're both IP68 dust and water resistant. And yeah
01:26just a slight you know design change here but not too much going on. Alright so let's
01:31talk about the screens here. So there is a slight difference. The first thing that popped
01:36out to me was the actual screen to body ratio is better on the S21 FE. You can see it has
01:42thinner bezels here which I thought was interesting. It's pretty much even at the bottom but on
01:48the top the screen to body ratio is actually better on the S21 FE giving it that more kind
01:54of it gives it a more premium look actually. It gives it like a slightly more expensive
02:00phone. It doesn't have those kind of chunky bezels to it. Yeah so that's one thing I noticed.
02:05They're both 1080p displays. They're both 6.4 inch displays. They're both Dynamic AMOLED
02:10120Hz HDR10+. The only thing here is that the S23 FE is actually a brighter display
02:17in direct sunlight. It gets up to 1450 nits peak brightness. And yeah there really isn't
02:25too much going on with the displays. The same PPI of 403. And they both look pretty good
02:30it's just the S21 FE's display just looks like it just looks slightly better because
02:36of the slimmer bezels. So it doesn't look as cheap. Not to say that the S23's display
02:41looks cheap but it's in comparison to this one. You can just tell that it just kind of
02:46looks better. But as far as the screen quality and all that stuff I mean they pretty much
02:53look identical. They have the same identical specs. Yeah so again the thing here is that
02:59the S23 is a brighter display outdoors. But the S21 still has just better screen to body
03:05ratio. Alright guys let's talk about these specs a little bit more. So both phones are
03:09running Android 13. The S21 FE has the Snapdragon 888 processor in it. It's also got Android
03:165.0. No SD card support. 128 gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of RAM. And then on the
03:22S23 you do have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. And then you also have 128 gigs of internal storage
03:28and 8 gigs of RAM on the base model. So as far as performance goes there is pretty much
03:34no performance difference that I can see. Especially when it comes to animations, overall
03:40speed, gaming as well. There is just no difference here when it comes to that. So if you're upgrading
03:48for a speed upgrade you're just not going to find that here. Yeah the S23 might be like
03:55a hair bit faster but it's not like dramatically faster in my opinion. They're both still really
04:03smooth and they both feel like they are running about the same when it comes to pretty much
04:08anything. Yeah so I wouldn't necessarily upgrade for speed. Now being in the US I know there
04:15is the Xenos models and stuff like that but if you do have the Snapdragon models I really
04:21don't see a big difference here when it comes to the overall performance here. Let me try
04:29to get into PUBG here. And guys it's pretty much the same thing when it comes to overall
04:34gaming performance. So the S23 it does a really good job with gaming and managing heat.
04:42But I'm saying if you're not like a big gamer like that you're not going to see virtually
04:48any difference because the Snapdragon AAA processor is still a really good phone processor
04:52for gaming. So PUBG you can play HDR extreme on here. You can pretty much play any game
04:58you want on both of these two phones no problem. Now one thing that I did notice with the AAA
05:06processors in general, not just with Samsung phones, this chip does get warmer than I would
05:12like. I've never had this phone actually crash or anything like that but it does get a little
05:17bit warmer compared to the Snapdragon 8Gen1. It's just this phone is still pretty cool.
05:24So I don't have an issue overall with performance on the S21 FE at all really. Like I said playing
05:30games, multitasking, it's never actually crashed. And if you're a casual gamer doing some heavy
05:36applications this phone would be perfectly fine. Like I said it also does play at the
05:40exact same settings, HDR extreme. Let's go ahead and see if we got a speaker upgrade.
05:46We'll start with the S23.
05:53Oh yeah that's a really nice speaker upgrade. A dramatic bass difference.
06:00Yeah it makes the S21 FE sound super flat. I wonder is Dolby Atmos on?
06:31No, it's not on. Is it on here? Yeah it's not on either. It just sounds crazy flat in
06:43comparison. The S21 speaker is not a bad speaker but there's definitely a really nice speaker
06:48improvement. It's way louder and there's just way more fullness to the sound. Alright so
06:54also you do get basically the same fingerprint scanner. It hasn't been upgraded at all. It's
07:00the optical one. No difference there. Now I went out and took some photos and I was
07:05thinking well this might be where the upgrade kind of comes into play here. But let me know
07:13what you guys think. I'll show you guys side by side stills. I didn't think that there
07:16was like a massive upgrade with the pictures honestly. But here are the specs. The S21
07:22FE does have a 12 megapixel standard and 8 megapixel telephoto, 3x optical zoom with
07:28a 12 megapixel ultrawide. It shoots in 4K60 with a 32 megapixel selfie cam on here that
07:34shoots in 4K60. The S23 has a 50 megapixel standard so it can take higher resolution
07:40shots so when you do zoom in you get a little bit more detail if you go into the 50 megapixel
07:46mode which is really nice. I think that's one of the main upgrades here. And then you
07:50also have an 8 megapixel telephoto also 3x optical, 12 megapixel ultrawide. This can
07:56shoot in 8K24 as well too as opposed to only the 4K which again how many of you guys are
08:03actually going to be shooting in 8K begs the question. And then you also have a 10 megapixel
08:09selfie on here as well too and it also shoots in 4K60. So check out these side by side stills
08:14let me know what you guys think.
08:56And I'll see you in the next one.
09:26Alright so with the battery I don't think the battery upgrade or there's really no battery
09:48upgrade if you look at these specs but the 8Gen1 it's not like it's handling battery
09:53life that much better than the 888 processor to me in my opinion just as a lighter user
09:59I haven't really noticed a massive difference. So they both have 4500mAh battery they both
10:04charge at 25 watts and they're both wireless charging with reverse wireless charging so
10:09really no difference there so let me know what you guys think. Is this a justifiable
10:14upgrade? I don't know I really don't think so there's not like a massive difference here
10:19I think you should probably save your money so let me know what you guys think. I'll catch
10:22you guys in the next one.
