00:00What's up guys, today I wanted to update my list for the top 5 best old Samsung flagships,
00:04so let's go ahead and get started.
00:05All right, first up on the list is the Galaxy S22+.
00:09This phone, from what I found from just doing a lot of videos on this phone, it fits most
00:13people's budget and it's exactly what a lot of people are looking for in terms of size
00:18and specs and stuff like that.
00:19So you can find this in excellent condition for $294 on Amazon.
00:23This is the version I have.
00:24I buy all of these phones renewed, refurbished.
00:27The design is still top tier on the S22+.
00:30It's got IP68 dust and water resistant aluminum frame.
00:34It's very comfortable in the hand.
00:35It has a little camera cutout as well too.
00:38Design wise, I think it looks really great still in 2024.
00:41It's got a beautiful 6.6 inch dynamic AMOLED display and this is really a sweet spot for
00:47a lot of people because it's not too big or it's not too small and you get a flat display.
00:52It's HDR10+, at 1750 nits peak brightness, 1080p, 393 for the PPI.
00:59So overall, just a beautiful panel I have.
01:01Now this phone launched with Android 12 and it will get up to Android 16 and what was
01:06interesting about this phone and the S22 series in general is that these phones got the Galaxy
01:12AI features.
01:13So you can enjoy pretty much the same AI features that you find on S24 Ultra, which is really
01:18nice.
01:19I think it's only missing one thing.
01:20So like I said, get up to Android 16, after that security patches.
01:23So you can keep the phone for quite a while and don't really have to worry about updates.
01:28Now the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on this phone, it is a very good processor but it is on the
01:34warmer side if you're definitely a gamer.
01:37Now I'm a lighter user so I've never run into problems with any type of overheating or anything
01:41like that.
01:42I've just never had a performance problem with this phone but I'm assuming if you play a
01:45ton of games then you might notice the phone getting warm.
01:50I've run benchmarks on it, I've played PUBG, like I said, I haven't had the problem.
01:54But the Snapdragon 8 Gen has been fine for me.
01:57It's 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM.
02:00You also have pretty decent sounding stereo speakers as well too.
02:04The fingerprint scanner is excellent as well, the ultrasonic one.
02:07And then the cameras on here are still top notch.
02:09It's a 50MP standard with a 10MP telephoto, 3x optical with a max zoom of 30x and then
02:16a 12MP ultrawide.
02:18It can shoot 8K 24 with a 10MP selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
02:23I think this still does a phenomenal job when it comes to the photos.
02:27Dynamic range is great, colors are great, tons of detail.
02:31Video is also really solid too.
02:32I think the pictures really speak for themselves so if you're somebody looking for a really
02:36consistent great photo taker, I think this is pretty excellent for this price point.
02:42Now the battery life on the S22 Plus, it's not bad but it's, I would say, pretty average.
02:48I never considered this phone to be like crazy, crazy good battery life but it was
02:52never ever like died on me in a day or anything like that so I wouldn't say it's bad by any
02:57means.
02:58It's a 4500mAh battery, it actually has pretty good charging speeds at 45W and you also get
03:03the wireless and reverse wireless charger.
03:05I could easily get 6 hours of screen on time with this phone so overall this is a solid
03:10phone that I think it checks off a lot of boxes for most people at this price range.
03:14Alright so what's interesting about the USA market is the Galaxy S22 Ultra, if you spend
03:19an extra $100 you can get this phone but it's not necessarily going to be a better phone
03:25than the S22 Plus considering what you're looking for.
03:28So the big thing here is the actual design.
03:31If you have smaller hands and you're like me, comfortability is a big thing when you're
03:37holding a phone.
03:38This is a bigger phone, it's way wider as well too and it can definitely be uncomfortable.
03:44Now you can put a case on it to kind of help with the sharp edges but that's something
03:49you definitely need to think about.
03:52So basically what you're paying for here is a slight spec improvement and obviously the
03:56size improvement.
03:57You got the built in S Pen which is extremely accurate if you're like a digital artist or
04:01something like that and then also you do have a bigger display at 6.8 inches, it's Dynamic
04:06AMOLED 120Hz HDR10 Plus and again 1750 nits peak brightness.
04:12This one has a higher res display so it's 1440p 500 for the PPI so you can enjoy content
04:18in 2K on this phone and it kind of has that TV boxy look to it.
04:24So I do really like the design of the S22 Ultra but this phone here it does have a curved
04:30screen so that's something you need to know for people who use screen protectors and stuff
04:34like that.
04:35It's a little bit more difficult than a flat display so that's why I said you may or may
04:38not like this phone over the S22 Plus.
04:41This one is in the same boat of course, it launched with Android 12, it will get up to
04:45Android 16 as well and then it has the same processor, basically the same kind of issue
04:51with getting a little bit warmer when you're playing games for a longer period of time
04:55with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and again this one, the one I have has 256 gigs and 12 gigs
05:01of RAM but performance is excellent, like I said the Galaxy AI features are there and
05:06then you also do have, one thing I don't like about this phone is that I think the speakers
05:10on this phone aren't really the strongest, they just don't sound that great, Samsung
05:14fixed it with the 23 models but it just doesn't sound that loud to me.
05:20The under the display fingerprint sensor works, the cameras are also another highlight.
05:25I would say there's not a big difference between this and the S22 Plus unless you take a lot
05:29of zoom shots, so it's got a 108 megapixel standard, it's got a 10 megapixel telephoto,
05:353x optical and then a 10 megapixel periscope telephoto, 10x optical, it goes all the way
05:40up to 100x zoom with a 12 megapixel ultrawide, it shoots in 8K 24 and then a 40 megapixel
05:47selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
05:50It's pretty much taking the same shots, really good shots with this phone, great detail,
05:55great dynamic range, does decent in low light.
05:57The zoom photography is still top notch on this phone, it's really impressive especially
06:01if something like zooming in at 30x, you'll really notice it and appreciate it if you
06:07go to concerts a lot, sporting events, just to zoom in and you can see stuff more clearly
06:12but excellent phone for doing stuff like that.
06:15You've also got a 5000 mAh battery, 45 watt charging, wireless and reverse wireless charging.
06:21This phone also does have somewhat of an average to mediocre battery life especially if you
06:27are a heavy user, if you're a lighter user you can get through the day with this phone.
06:32Now standby time has improved with the One UI 6.1 update, that's something that I did
06:37notice so I was really happy about that but overall the battery life is still roughly
06:41the same.
06:42Alright so next is the Note 20 Ultra, this is for anyone who wants to have SD card support
06:48on their phone and also I would say look at the S20 Ultra if you're somebody who really
06:53wants better battery life, definitely get that, that has SD card support as well but
06:58most people they really like the Note 20 Ultra for the pen and the design here.
07:03So this phone is still really good, the price has dropped a lot so I'm really excited about
07:09that and remember these are USA prices guys and it's $313 and it's a really pretty good
07:16deal for the phone that you get here.
07:18So again it has that boxy design, you got the built in S Pen again you can do digital
07:23artwork with this phone and overall the design still looks great I think in 2024.
07:29Like I said you have the built in SD card support so what a lot of people like about
07:32this is that even if you get the 128 gig version you can spend like $30-40 and get a 512 gigabyte
07:40version if you take a lot of photos and videos so that's a good thing about having SD card
07:44support, definitely something to consider.
07:47It's got a massive display, one of Samsung's biggest displays that they put in the flagship,
07:51a 6.9 inch display, it's got 1440p resolution as well, 496 for the PPI.
07:58Now the thing about this phone is you can only use 120 hertz at the 1080p resolution
08:04so do note that but overall the screen is great, it does still pretty decent in outdoors
08:10and direct sunlight as well too, it's also a curved panel as well.
08:14So this phone is not getting any more major OS updates, it's got Android 13 on it and
08:19it's currently only getting security updates for right now and yeah, the software doesn't
08:26really feel outdated, the only thing that might make it feel outdated is that it doesn't
08:30have the Galaxy AI features, besides that you're not really missing out on anything.
08:35Now you do have the Snapdragon 865 chipset on here, this is still a very efficient chipset,
08:41you can still play PUBG at HDR extreme or HDR extreme plus, which means 90 frames and
08:49I don't have an issue with this phone performance wise, it's very efficient even on the S20
08:53Ultra, still really efficient playing games as well too, so no issues with performance
08:59on this phone, it is just as fast as the S24 Ultra.
09:02The speakers on here are still decent, they get loud enough, the fingerprint scanner is
09:07fine on here.
09:08The cameras on here, so the cameras are still pretty good but what you'll notice about this
09:14generation's cameras is that while it does take pretty good photos in good lighting,
09:19you will notice that it starts to show us age in low light, I don't think the selfie
09:24cam looks as good as the newer phones as well too, it kind of really messes up skin tones
09:29I think, you always have to kind of correct it, but other than that, if you're out in
09:35good lighting, it takes great shots, you can see that from the pictures here, it's just
09:39low light photography, you would definitely notice, okay, this is an older flagship for
09:43sure.
09:44108 megapixel standard, 12 megapixel periscope telephoto, it's 5x optical, it has 50x hybrid
09:51zoom with a 12 megapixel ultrawide, it's using 8K 24 with a 10 megapixel selfie, that shoots
09:56in 4K 60, overall, great photos, pretty good videos, like I said, outdoors, you really
10:03wouldn't be able to tell the difference from this in a newer Samsung flagship.
10:06This phone has a 4500 mAh battery, charging on here is 25 watts, so really not all that
10:12fast, wireless, M-Universe wireless charging is on board, this one also falls in the same
10:17bowl of having average to below average battery life for the most part if you're a heavier
10:22user.
10:23Alright, so next is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, this is one of my favorites on the
10:28list because it's a very interesting buy in 2024, is that this phone is 10x more comfortable
10:34than the S22 Ultra, and you know, you have to buy the S-Pen case with this phone, but
10:41it is compatible, but it's way more comfortable, so if you wanted to spend, you know, the $300,
10:47you wanted a bigger phone with S-Pen support, you know, with the zoom cameras, this is still
10:51an excellent buy, and it's a personal favorite of mine.
10:55So, like I said, this phone, it doesn't have that boxy design, so it's way easier to hold,
11:00it's aluminum frame, you know, premium design, IP68, and like I said, we got the S-Pen support
11:06on here, I still think the design on the back looks really cool as well too.
11:10And now, this phone has a 6.8 inch dynamic AMOLED display, 120 hertz, HDR10+, 1500 nits
11:17peak brightness, 1440p, 515 for the PPI, overall, just a beautiful panel, and like I said, very
11:25easy to hold for this size phone.
11:28Now, this phone launched with Android 11, which means that it's last major OS update
11:33is going to be Android 15, and it'll get security patches after that.
11:37You also have the Snapdragon AAA processor, which is another infamous, you know, processor
11:42here, and again, this one does, you know, get warm when you're gaming for sure.
11:47Like I said, I'm a lighter, you know, kind of user, I don't really game that hard on
11:50my phone, so I never really had performance issues with this phone, but you will definitely
11:55notice this phone getting warm for sure.
11:57Now, you do have 128 gigs of internal storage and 12 gigs of RAM on this phone as well too.
12:03Performance is blazing fast, it's really, really smooth, I never had an issue with performance
12:08on this phone at all.
12:09The speakers are pretty decent on here as well too, a fairly good amount of bass.
12:13You also do have an excellent fingerprint scanner, and you do have on here a very good
12:18camera system, it's a 108 megapixel standard, 10 megapixel telephoto, 3x optical with a
12:24periscope telephoto on here, that's 10 megapixels, that does 10x, and a 12 megapixel ultrawide.
12:30You shoot an 8K 24 with a 40 megapixel selfie, that shoots in 4K 60.
12:36I still really like the shots on the S21 Ultra, it takes just really crispy, really nicely
12:42detailed photos, great colors, the zoom photography is still really good on here as well too.
12:47I have zero complaints about the photos on this phone, the selfie cam is pretty good
12:53as well, video, it's just a solid phone to take pictures with, and again, you might notice
12:59you lose a bit of a detail when you are in lower light, but besides that, it's still
13:05a really good phone for taking pictures.
13:08So this phone, again, falls into that category of just average, below average battery life,
13:135000 milliamps, 25 watt charging, your wireless and reverse wireless charging is on board,
13:18and overall it's just an excellent phone for 300 bucks.
13:21Alright guys, and last on the list is the Galaxy S21 FE.
13:25This is a fantastic phone for anybody that's on a very tight budget, it's literally $189
13:33on eBay for excellent condition, and this phone is amazing for this price point, it's
13:38really impressive.
13:39So it does have a plastic back and aluminum frame, but nothing about this phone really
13:43feels cheap.
13:44The back of the phone is a kind of matte finish, and it just has a very well made feel to it,
13:50so it's something that I really like, and it's even IP68 dust and water resistant.
13:54It's got a 6.4 inch display, it's dynamic AMOLED, 120 hertz, HDR10+, so a very easy
14:01phone to hold, it's 1080p, 403 for the PPI, and actually a really nice display.
14:06It has pretty slim bezels on here as well too, so it makes the phone feel way more premium,
14:11and then you also do have, now the most fascinating thing about the S21 FE is that it launched
14:16with Android 12, which means it falls under Samsung's pledge of 4 years, so that means
14:21it should get up to Android 16, which I think is pretty awesome.
14:26This phone also has the Snapdragon AAA processor, but this phone really doesn't heat up as much
14:31as a standard S21, so that's something that I did notice, and overall it's just a little
14:37bit more cooler.
14:38It does play games just fine, it pretty much does everything completely fine, you can play
14:43PUBG, HDR Extreme, most things will run on here, I've never had a performance issue with
14:49this phone.
14:50Now, the base model is 128 gigs and 6 gigs of RAM, and yeah, overall performance wise
14:56it pretty much has all the same software features except for the Galaxy AI stuff.
15:02So this phone, it does have pretty good stereo speakers, pretty decent.
15:06The fingerprint scanner, now it is an optical one, so it is a little bit slower than the
15:10ultrasonic one, but it's not really a big deal.
15:14Now this phone does still have pretty good cameras, a 12 megapixel standard, 8 megapixel
15:18telephoto, 3x optical with a 12 megapixel ultrawide, it shoots in 4K60 with a 32 megapixel
15:25selfie that shoots in 4K60, and overall image quality is still very good on this phone,
15:31I really don't have an issue with the overall quality, I compared it to a bunch of other
15:35phones as well too, so it does a fantastic job in good lighting, and also the battery
15:41life is really not that bad on this phone as well too, it's a 4500 mAh battery, 25 watt
15:46charging with wireless and reverse wireless charging, and it can easily pretty much get
15:50through the day no problem, so it's a very, very good phone considering the price point.
15:55So be sure to let me know what you guys think, and I'll catch you guys in the next video.
