00:00What's up guys, today I wanted to talk about some awesome smartphones that you can buy
00:03for the $200 price point, and so let's go ahead and jump in.
00:08So, usually I really like older flagship phones, but this was one of the phones that kind of
00:13surprised me this year, the Galaxy A34.
00:15As you guys know, I tested out the A54, wasn't a huge fan for the price that you had to pay
00:20for that phone, but this was pretty interesting.
00:22It was $250, and I didn't think it was bad at all.
00:26You can get it $250 brand new, it's an all plastic design on here, it's IP67 dust and
00:31water resistant.
00:32Besides the phone being plastic, it overall has a pretty good weight, and actually a pretty
00:37nice design.
00:38I really like the color kind of shifting on this model, and it kind of looks like, you
00:42know, a standard S23 with the camera setup.
00:46So, overall the design I thought was pretty nice, and I don't think anybody would look
00:49at this and say it's a $200 phone.
00:51The screen on here was actually pretty good as well too.
00:53It's a Super AMOLED display, 120 hertz, 1000 nits brightness at 6.6 inches, 1080p 390 for
01:00the PPI.
01:01Overall, a very good display, even though it does have the water drop notch, which are
01:05a little bit outdated, but other than that, the screen quality was awesome.
01:11As you guys know, Samsung pretty much makes the best displays on the market, and I thought
01:15the screen quality was really, really good.
01:17Like I said, 120 hertz, great colors, and it's a pretty nice size for most people.
01:21It comes with Android 13, One UI 5.1 out the box.
01:25I think the most impressive thing about this phone was the MediaTek chip.
01:29It has the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 on here, and it was really, really good.
01:34It was able to play PUBG at pretty respectable settings.
01:38It was pretty smooth when it came to animations, and just popping in and out of, you know,
01:43your applications and stuff like that.
01:45Overall, I was actually pretty impressed with the performance.
01:47It's pretty much on par with something like a Snapdragon 855, and again, not as well optimized
01:53for gaming still.
01:54It wasn't able to do PUBG HDR Extreme, so if you're a gamer, you probably still want
01:59to go with an older flagship, but it does have micro SD card support, 128 gigs of internal
02:04storage, and 6 gigs of RAM on the base model, so having the SD card support is always nice.
02:10The speakers on here were pretty decent.
02:12You have also NFC under the display fingerprint sensor.
02:16It's optical, but it works fine.
02:18I didn't really have any issues with it.
02:20So one of the things about this phone I thought would be really bad was the cameras, and that
02:27wasn't the case.
02:28The cameras were pretty decent.
02:29They weren't like crazy, crazy good, but I thought they were pretty decent.
02:32You get a decent shot, 48 megapixel standard, 8 megapixel ultra wide, and then a 5 megapixel
02:38macro that shoots in 4K30 with a 13 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K30, and again, is
02:44this the best camera you can get for a $200 price point?
02:48Absolutely not.
02:49I have a phone on this list.
02:50I think all the phones, you know, coming on this list take better pictures than this one,
02:55but I thought the photo quality was somewhat decent.
02:59I didn't think it was terrible photos.
03:01It also has a very, very good battery life, 5,000 mAh battery, 25 watt charging, excellent
03:08battery life, definitely get a full day out of this phone, so even though I'm not a huge
03:12fan of mid-rangers, I thought this was actually pretty decent, really surprised me.
03:15One of my favorite pickups of the year is actually the Galaxy S21 Plus.
03:20Again, you can find this phone for around $200, and it's just a very, very impressive
03:25phone for this price point.
03:27It's still got a very sleek and nice design.
03:29It's got an aluminum frame on here.
03:31It's IP68 dust and water resistant, and I think it just looks awesome even in 2023.
03:37It's got the dynamic AMOLED, 120 hertz, HDR10+, 1300 nits peak brightness with a 6.7 inch
03:43display.
03:44It's also 1080p, 394 for the PPI.
03:47Absolutely beautiful display, flat display, really nice, respectable bezels on here, and
03:53just a classic, you know, beautiful Samsung panel on here.
03:56It does great in outdoor sunlight, and then you also have on here Android 13, so it is
04:02running 13.
04:03It will get Android 14 as well, which is really nice.
04:06It has the Snapdragon AAA processor on here, and this phone still does a really good job
04:11with gaming performance.
04:12If you guys want to see a more detailed video, I do have it on the channel, but it plays
04:17PUBG, HDR Extreme, and pretty much anything else I throw at it, and it didn't seem to
04:22overheat, or I wouldn't say overheat, but get as warm as the S21 Ultra that I have,
04:29so this phone, I really like it.
04:31I was on it, and I wasn't having any type of, you know, any serious heating problems.
04:36It also has no SD card support, 128 gigs of internal storage, and 8 gigs of RAM.
04:41The stereo speakers on here are pretty good.
04:44Under the display fingerprint sensor is ultrasonic, so it's very, very fast.
04:47You also get all the extra flagship stuff like Samsung desktop support, and pretty much
04:52all the same features besides the S Pen stuff.
04:54The cameras on here are still excellent.
04:57It has a 12 megapixel standard, 64 megapixel telephoto with 1.1 optical and 3x hybrid zoom,
05:04and then it also has a 12 megapixel ultra wide, shoots in 8K 24, and then you also have
05:09a 10 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
05:13Photo quality is still really, really good.
05:15I still think it takes flagship quality shots on here, and pretty good video.
05:20I was really impressed, so no one would take pictures with this phone and say that the
05:24camera's bad, especially for this price.
05:26It's really, really good.
05:27It has a 4,800 milliamp hour battery with 25 watt charging, and wireless and reverse
05:32wireless charging.
05:34Overall, it's a fantastic phone.
05:36Great design, great price, great screen, very fast.
05:39It's just an awesome phone to consider.
05:41Next is the Pixel 6a.
05:43You also can get the standard Pixel 6, but I thought that the battery life on the 6a
05:48was actually better, but you do have on this phone aluminum frame.
05:53It's got a plastic back, so it still has a very nice premium feel to it.
05:57It's IP67, dust and water resistant.
05:59I think the only downside with this phone is that there's no high refresh rate.
06:03It's just an OLED display, HDR at 6.1 inches, 1080p 429 for the PPI.
06:09Overall, a pretty good display.
06:12It's just lacking any type of high refresh rate.
06:14That's why I said you might want to get the Pixel 6 if that does bother you, but overall,
06:19the screen quality itself is still pretty good.
06:22This phone is going to get the Android 14 update.
06:25It's got the original Google Tensor chip, and it's actually still pretty fast.
06:29I had no issues getting in and out of applications, animations, even playing video games on this
06:34phone was pretty decent.
06:35Overall, for the chip, I had no problems, and like I said, it runs pure stock Android.
06:40You get updates pretty fast as well too, and again, no issues.
06:44128 gigs and 6 gigs of RAM for the base model.
06:48It has actually very good stereo speakers on here.
06:51Very good bass quality.
06:52It has the optical fingerprint sensor, which works fine.
06:56Like I said, the highlight with this phone is that it takes the best photos on this list.
07:00It's got a 12.2 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel ultrawide.
07:04It shoots in 4K 60 with an 8 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 1080p 30.
07:10This phone, every time when it came out, it did a really good job in the blind smartphone
07:16test, and it just takes awesome shots, guys.
07:20It's going to give you still top-notch flagship quality shots, and like I said, the battery
07:24life is actually still pretty good.
07:25It's got a 4,410 milliamp hour battery with 18-watt charging, and you can definitely get
07:32a day out of the battery life on this phone, so overall, I just absolutely love this phone
07:36for the cameras.
07:37All right, if you are interested in iPhones, I think the best iPhone to get right now on
07:42a budget is definitely the iPhone 11.
07:45This phone just got iOS 17 as well too, and you can easily find these for around 250 bucks,
07:52and it still has a very nice design.
07:53It's got the aluminum frame.
07:55It's really nice to hold in the hand.
07:57It still looks, I think, still pretty modern for a phone that came out in 2019.
08:01It's IP68 dust and water resistant.
08:03It's got a 6.1-inch Retina IPS display, and then it's 720p plus 326 for the PPI, and overall,
08:11the display is fine.
08:12No, it's not OLED or anything, and it doesn't get super bright in direct sunlight, but the
08:18display itself is fine.
08:20Colors look fine, so it's nothing too crazy.
08:23I think the best thing about this phone is that it has the latest software running iOS
08:2717.
08:28It's got the Apple A13 chip, which is still very, very fast.
08:32This phone still surprisingly is super smooth.
08:34It does animations really quickly.
08:37I was able to play PUBG at HDR Extreme still.
08:40I was actually pretty impressed with the performance of this phone, so I can't really knock it
08:45for speed.
08:46It's still actually a really, really fast phone.
08:48It's got 64 gigs of internal storage and 4 gigs of RAM, and then you also have pretty
08:53decent stereo speakers.
08:55Of course, you have the Face ID, and then you also have the dual camera setup.
08:59It's a 12-megapixel standard and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide.
09:03Shoots in 4K60 and has a 12-megapixel selfie cam that also shoots in 4K60.
09:09I compared this phone to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I thought the pictures looked pretty
09:14good on the 11 still.
09:15Obviously, not as good, but just still really respectable.
09:20Pretty good color, pretty good detail, good dynamic range.
09:22It still takes great video, so it still takes pretty good photos, in my opinion, as well,
09:28even compared to the newest iPhone.
09:30You also have on here pretty decent battery life.
09:33I have, I think, 87% battery health on mine.
09:36I can squeeze close to about 6 hours of screen on time as a light user, so battery life is
09:41pretty decent.
09:42It's got a 3,110 mAh battery, and you also have the wireless charging, as well.
09:48And last is the LG V60.
09:51This is still such an awesome phone.
09:52You can actually find it well under 200 bucks now on Amazon.
09:56I think it's like 180 on there right now, and it's just a fantastic phone.
10:01It's got aluminum frames, glass back, it's IP68 dust and water resistant.
10:05This phone has dual screen case capability.
10:08You also have an S-Pen with this phone, not an S-Pen, but just it has stylus support.
10:13And then you also have a 6.8 inch P-OLED display, it's HDR10+, 1080p, 395 for the PPI.
10:20Overall, just a big, beautiful panel here, and like I said, you can use that dual screen
10:24case and basically turn it into two phones.
10:27This phone, it did get the Android 13 update, and it actually is still getting security
10:33patches for now.
10:35It also has the Snapdragon 865 chip on here, micro SD card support, 128 gigs of internal
10:41storage, and 8 gigs of RAM.
10:43This phone is still extremely fast when it comes to gaming.
10:47You can play PUBG, HDR Extreme, just bouncing in and out of applications, animations.
10:51It's still a very, very fast phone.
10:53It does not feel slow at all.
10:55And like I said, the SD card support is here, and you also have a headphone jack on this
11:00phone with quad DAC support.
11:02So this phone really has everything you could want for a power user, for sure.
11:08You also have on this phone pretty good stereo speakers as well, too, so it gets pretty good
11:12bass quality and pretty loud.
11:14You also have an under-the-display fingerprint sensor, which works.
11:18No face unlock, though, unfortunately.
11:21The cameras on here are still pretty decent.
11:22It's a 64 megapixel standard and a 13 megapixel ultrawide.
11:26Has a 0.3 depth sensor and shoots in 8K30.
11:30Has a 10 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K30.
11:33I compared this phone's camera to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it still did a pretty good
11:39job, even compared to one of the latest smartphones.
11:43So I think the cameras on here are pretty good.
11:45Great color, good dynamic range.
11:47So overall, I was pretty impressed with the image quality that the V60 is still able to
11:52put out.
11:53And battery life is actually pretty good on this phone.
11:56I can definitely get a full day of battery life out of this phone, no problem.
12:00You also have wireless charging on here.
12:01Like I said, you get all this stuff for pretty much under $200.
12:06So it's an excellent, excellent phone.
12:08That's pretty much it, guys.
12:09Be sure to let me know what you guys think, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
