00:00All right guys, today we're gonna be doing
00:01the best old flagships to buy for gaming.
00:04So I get this question a lot.
00:06Should I get mid-range phone, a budget phone?
00:08Can I still get that and play games well?
00:10And the answer is you could,
00:12but it's not gonna be anywhere near as good
00:14as an older flagship.
00:16That's gonna give you better settings.
00:17Some of these phones can play PUBG at 90 frames.
00:20None of the mid-range phones or budget phones
00:23can come close to the performance you can get
00:25with the older flagship phone.
00:26And the good thing is you get these phones at a great price.
00:29So my favorite phone to recommend to people for gaming
00:32is actually the Note20 Ultra.
00:34I did a full gaming test if you guys wanna check that out.
00:36It's just straight up a beast.
00:37Not only is it just great for gaming,
00:39but the overall phone is still awesome.
00:41So the Note20 Ultra does have the Snapdragon 865 chip,
00:45which is very important here
00:47because it is very efficient when it comes to gaming.
00:50I'm able to play PUBG on this phone at 90 frames.
00:53Call of Duty runs at very high frame rates.
00:55Fortnite, everything I threw at it did a really great job.
00:59And the thing about this phone
01:00is that you can game on this phone
01:02and it won't get super hot like,
01:04let's say for instance,
01:05a phone with a Snapdragon AAA processor or 8Gen1.
01:09Those phones get pretty hot.
01:11And yeah, you're gonna notice that
01:13and you might get like some frame stutters.
01:15This phone and the Snapdragon 855,
01:17honestly, if you wanna go with something like that,
01:20you will get some awesome gaming settings.
01:22It won't get super hot.
01:23You won't have to drop frames.
01:25It's just amazing.
01:26So this phone does have that super fast phone,
01:28very powerful phone.
01:29And also on top of that, you have a beautiful display.
01:32It's a 6.9-inch display.
01:33It's Dynamic AMOLED.
01:34It's 120 Hertz as well.
01:36You can only use 120 Hertz at 1080p though,
01:38so just do note that.
01:40But also what's very cool about this phone
01:41is that you also have micro SD card support.
01:43So if you do download a ton of games and stuff like that,
01:46you do have that option to go ahead and expand your storage.
01:49The base storage is 128 gigabytes and 12 gigs of RAM.
01:53So plenty of just power on this phone for gaming, guys.
01:58It's a very good experience.
02:00Not only that, but you have some awesome speakers on here
02:02with really great bass quality.
02:04They're tuned by AKG, so they sound amazing.
02:06It's also dust and waterproof, resistant IP68.
02:10And then you have the built-in stylus on here.
02:12And then also just, you have great cameras on this phone.
02:15I've talked about it a lot.
02:16Still very respectable, awesome cameras
02:18with crazy zoom, 50 times hybrid zoom,
02:21108-megapixel standard, 12-megapixel periscope telephoto.
02:25Then you have a 12-megapixel ultra wide.
02:27It's using AK24 with a 10-megapixel selfie.
02:30It's just an awesome camera.
02:31Like I said, I have a ton of videos
02:33if you wanna see more of this in depth.
02:35Fingerprint scanner under the display.
02:37And I think what's really important is battery life
02:39is still pretty decent on the Note20 Ultra.
02:4145 milliamp, 4,500 milliamp battery, 25-watt wire charging.
02:46You also have wireless and reverse wireless charging.
02:48So this is one of my favorite phones.
02:49I think design-wise, it just looks really awesome still.
02:52It has a ton of features.
02:54It got Android 13, One UI 5.
02:57It's still getting security patches.
02:59And I think it's just an awesome device to consider
03:01for anybody who's trying to get into competitive gaming.
03:04You wanna play at 90 frames for,
03:07you know, you don't wanna spend $1,000.
03:09And this is just a great option.
03:11The OnePlus 8 and also the OnePlus 8 Pro.
03:14These are awesome devices.
03:15The OnePlus 8 specifically is very cheap.
03:18It's like, you can get it for like 180 bucks on eBay.
03:21Amazon's very cheap, like 200 bucks.
03:24Super cheap, and this is also another phone
03:26that can play PUBG at 90 frames.
03:28It was playing a lot of stuff, Fortnite at like 60 frames.
03:32Also, I think it was able to play Fortnite
03:34at 90 frames too, I believe.
03:36It was very impressive.
03:37Any game I threw at it, it was doing really good.
03:39And notice a trend here.
03:41This phone has the Snapdragon 865 chip.
03:43That's why I said, this chip is really the sweet spot
03:45for anybody trying to game on a budget.
03:48Very efficient when it comes to heat
03:50and also just speed, everything is just really efficient
03:53with these phones.
03:54This phone, it's got its last major OS update.
03:56I just did a video about it.
03:57Android 13, Oxygen OS 13, and it's very awesome.
04:02I love Oxygen OS.
04:03I still love the animations and everything.
04:06Yeah, but this phone does a fantastic job.
04:08It's a slightly smaller phone at 6.5 inches.
04:11It's 1080p, 402 for the PPI.
04:13It is a 90 hertz display, and it's HDR10+.
04:17Really nice display on here as well.
04:19Now, the only thing about this phone
04:21is it doesn't have SD card support,
04:22so that's why I said I typically like recommending the Note.
04:26But, like I said, this is a smaller,
04:28you might like Oxygen OS a little bit more.
04:31It's got 128 gigs of internal storage
04:33and six gigs of RAM on here.
04:35And also, you got stereo speakers.
04:37You got NFC under the display fingerprint sensor.
04:40Surprisingly, this has very good battery life,
04:42especially for the size of this phone.
04:43It's a 4300 milliamp battery
04:45with 30 watt wire charging on here.
04:48Very, very impressive.
04:49I would say for cameras,
04:51the cameras are just kinda meh on this phone.
04:54Like I think, I personally think
04:55they're the weakest on this list, actually.
04:57A 48 megapixel standard, 16 megapixel ultra-wide.
05:00It's got a two megapixel macro.
05:024K 60.
05:02It's just, this phone doesn't perform as well
05:04with colors and in lower light settings
05:07than the other phones to me.
05:09It's got a 16 megapixel selfie cam on here at 1080p30.
05:12It's not a bad camera by any means,
05:14but like I said, if you were really like
05:16wanting the best overall camera on it,
05:18I wouldn't pick this one for that.
05:21But like I said, I really like how this phone games.
05:23It's super cool.
05:24I really like the design of this phone.
05:26The screen is very nice.
05:27And like I said, I like Oxygen OS.
05:29It's pretty sweet.
05:30Now next is the Note 10+.
05:31Now this is another awesome phone as well, too.
05:35So if the Note 20 Ultra is too much,
05:38I would get the Note 10+,
05:40because this is a great alternative
05:41and it's much cheaper, around like $100 cheaper.
05:45And it's still a awesome device here.
05:47We got a Snapdragon 855 chip on here.
05:51Now while it's not able to play PUBG at 90 frames,
05:53it is able to play most games at 60 frames fairly easily.
05:57Call of Duty, Fortnite, all that good stuff,
05:59it's able to play.
06:00And you also have micro SD card support.
06:02And what's awesome about this phone in particular
06:04is that you have 256 gigabytes of internal storage,
06:08which is a lot, and then you have 12 gigs of RAM.
06:10So you have 256 on top of the SD card support.
06:13So you get a ton of storage if you take a lot of video,
06:16download a lot of games.
06:17That's one benefit with this phone that I absolutely love.
06:21So it's still got a beautiful display at 6.8 inches.
06:23It's 1440p, 498 for the PPI, dynamic AMOLED.
06:27It's got HDR 10+.
06:29Overall, just a beautiful display,
06:31beautiful phone to look at.
06:33And also, guys, this phone got
06:34its last major OS update, Android 12.
06:36And it actually just got a security patch
06:38for April as well, too, which is really nice.
06:40And the cameras are still great on here.
06:42Triple camera setup, 12 megapixel standard,
06:4412 megapixel telephoto, 2X optical zoom
06:47with a 16 megapixel ultra-wide.
06:49You also have a 0.3 depth sensor.
06:51It shoots in 4K 60.
06:5210 megapixel selfie cam on here shoots in 4K 60.
06:56I think the cameras are still really good.
06:57You guys can check out any of my Note 10 Plus comparisons
07:01to the newer phones.
07:02I think it still takes very respectable shots still.
07:04Great stereo speakers on here as well, too.
07:08All your bells and whistles, NFC,
07:09Samsung desktop support, IP68, it's all here.
07:13It's still very much a flagship phone.
07:15And battery life is pretty decent on the Note.
07:184,300 milliamp hour battery, pretty good battery life.
07:21But what's cool about the Note
07:22is that you actually have 45-watt wire charging on here.
07:26So it charges respectably fast.
07:2815-watt wireless charging
07:30and reverse wireless charging is on here.
07:32So I think this is an excellent option
07:34for anybody who wants to spend around 280 bucks.
07:39This is a great option.
07:40Next is the LG V60.
07:41This is an awesome device
07:43and honestly offers a lot for its $200 price point.
07:46And again, the same chip here, Snapdragon 865 chip.
07:50Believe it or not,
07:51this phone did get the Android 13 update.
07:53It surprised all of us.
07:55It's just extremely efficient when it comes to speed
07:58and also gaming performance on here is really cool.
08:02And what's also really interesting about the V60
08:05is that you have the dual-screen case support.
08:07So there are games that are compatible
08:09with the dual-screen case, like PUBG,
08:12and it's just a really cool experience
08:14to be able to see the map and stuff like that
08:17on just a separate screen.
08:18Also, you just get a full multitasking experience.
08:21What's cool about the V60
08:22is that if you do have a really good pair of headphones
08:24and you play a lot of games,
08:26this does have a headphone jack with a quad DAC.
08:28So basically, you get superior audio quality.
08:31It's the only phone on the list with a headphone jack.
08:34So that's also another plus,
08:35the dual-screen case and the headphone jack.
08:37And then, like I said, in general,
08:38it's just gonna crush games
08:40like all the other Snapdragon 865 phones.
08:43But the V60 does not have the 90 frames optimization
08:47that some of the other phones do,
08:48like the Note and the OnePlus,
08:50but it does play most games at 60 frames very smoothly.
08:54Again, glass and metal device here.
08:57Very premium in the hand.
08:59IP68 dust and water resistant.
09:01Really built like a tank.
09:02And you have microSD card support on here as well.
09:05128 gigs of internal storage and eight gigs of RAM.
09:08You also have on here
09:09really good sounding stereo speakers as well.
09:12I think the cameras are still pretty good
09:13on the V60, 64 megapixel standard,
09:1613 megapixel ultra-wide, 0.3 depth sensor.
09:19Shoots an 8K30, also 10 megapixel selfie cam.
09:22I've done a ton of videos on the V60,
09:24so if you guys wanna see this in more details,
09:27just type in Matthews Tech.
09:28Any of these phones, I've done a lot of videos,
09:30you can see in detail.
09:32Also, fingerprint scanner under the display works fine.
09:36Battery life is actually, I think personally,
09:38the best on the list.
09:395,000 milliamp battery.
09:41You have your wireless charging on here.
09:43It is an awesome device when it comes to standby time
09:45and overall just screen on time.
09:47It's pretty sweet.
09:48Now, this could be because it has the POLED 1080p display,
09:53it's HDR10+, but there's no 120 hertz or 90 hertz.
09:57Like I said, it's 1080p as well too, 395 for the PPI,
10:00but it's a very nice high quality 1080p panel.
10:04So, it's just an awesome device
10:07when it comes to battery life.
10:08And I think that's pretty much it.
10:10The V60 is just an awesome phone,
10:12especially for anyone on a budget.
10:14Lastly, for anybody who wants an iPhone
10:16and you wanna stay in a good budget range,
10:19I would say the iPhone 11,
10:21or you can get, if you want a better display,
10:24the iPhone 11 Pro.
10:25These are awesome devices,
10:27simply because the Apple A13 chip
10:29is still very, very powerful on this phone.
10:32You can play pretty much any game in the App Store.
10:35It does a great job with PUBG, Call of Duty.
10:38It's very efficient.
10:39And I think iPhone 11 is going for
10:41close to around 300 bucks now.
10:43I can see this phone actually coming down
10:45this year in price.
10:45I think you can probably expect to see it
10:48at around like maybe 250.
10:50But it's an awesome device.
10:51I think it still looks great too, design wise as well.
10:54Glass and metal device as well.
10:56IP68 dust and water resistant.
10:58I think the only downside to the 11
11:00is that the display, it's not an OLED display.
11:03It's IPS LCD.
11:04It's a 6.1 inch display,
11:06and it's only 720p plus, 326 for the PPI.
11:09Now to the eye, and to most people's eyes,
11:11the display looks fine.
11:13It's fairly sharp, right, to the naked eye.
11:16And, you know, it's decent, right?
11:18But it's not 1080p, it's not OLED.
11:20So the display's just, you know, overall fine.
11:23This phone, honestly, will probably get
11:26maybe three more years of major OS updates.
11:29This phone is still fairly fast.
11:31So you can expect to get iOS 17, 18, if not 19.
11:36It's just that fast.
11:38So this phone also has pretty good stereo speakers.
11:41You have your face ID.
11:42Battery life is pretty decent on here.
11:44It has a 3,110 milliamp battery.
11:47You got wireless charging on here.
11:48I can squeeze close to about six hours of screen on time
11:51out of my eyes with about 85% battery health.
11:54And the cameras on here are actually pretty impressive.
11:57It's a 12 megapixel standard
11:58and a 12 megapixel ultra-wide 4K 60 video.
12:01Has still some amazing video.
12:03And then a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60.
12:06Absolutely love the iPhone 11's cameras on here.
12:09It just looks still really great for 2023.
12:13Great dynamic range, good colors.
12:16Just really awesome.
12:16So this is also another phone that's very powerful
12:19that you can consider if you're somebody
12:21that really likes to use iPhone
12:23and you don't want to spend, you know, a ton of money.
12:25I would honestly get this over even the new iPhone SE.
12:28This has a better design and it's cheaper.
12:31So what do you guys think?
12:33Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys
12:34in the next one.
