00:00What's up guys, in today's video we're going to be talking about the top 5 best older Samsung
00:04flagship phones to buy in 2023. Going to give you guys the latest prices and my opinions about
00:10these phones. So let's go ahead and dive in here. So first off, one of my favorite phones on this
00:15list has got to be the Galaxy S21 Ultra. It is amazing for the price that it's at now. And
00:21remember the S23 Ultra is coming next month so we should see a price decrease on this year as well
00:28too. It's currently trending around $400 to $450 here in the USA. So one of my favorite things
00:34about this device is actually the design on here. I think it's still beautiful. I think one of
00:39Samsung's best designs. It has an aluminum frame on here and it also has this really cool terminator
00:45look especially if you get it in the black color. It just looks really like sci-fi kind of phone.
00:50It's also IP68 dust and water resistant and it has stylus support as well too which is pretty sweet.
00:57This phone does have a pretty big 6.8 inch display. It's dynamic AMOLED, it's 120 hertz,
01:02HDR10+, 1500 nits peak brightness. It's still a top tier display especially at this price point.
01:08It's 1440p, 515 for the PPI. Absolutely beautiful display. In my opinion, this phone is easier to
01:15handle as well too. It's not as boxy as the S22 Ultra as well. And also something that you might
01:22like is that this phone doesn't curve as harshly as the S22 Ultra as well too which I think Samsung
01:28is actually going back to with their S23 Ultra. So as far as the software treatment, believe it
01:35or not, this phone actually is getting the same software treatment as the S22 Ultra. So this phone
01:41is running Android 13, One UI 5. I have the Snapdragon 888 version and it is a beast when
01:47it comes to performance. It pretty much flies through anything. There's not anything this phone
01:51can't do that the S22 Ultra will do and that, in my opinion, the S23 Ultra is still going to give
01:57you that top tier flagship performance here. You also have excellent gaming performance on here.
02:02Even though I think these triple A chips with gaming or the A series chips in general,
02:07these phones do kind of heat up a little bit. But in general, I haven't had any problems,
02:12any serious problems with mine. You do have 128 gigs of internal storage and 12 gigs of RAM on
02:17here. But the 256 gig is floating around pretty easily so you can find it for pretty cheap. This
02:23phone also has some pretty nice sounding stereo speakers, great bass, really loud. It has all
02:28the bells and whistles like NFC, Samsung desktop support, super fast under the display fingerprint
02:33sensor as well. And I think one of the biggest things with this phone is that I think the
02:39cameras are still pretty much on par with the flagships that we have out today. So it's got a
02:44108 megapixel standard, a 10 megapixel periscope telephoto that does 10x optical zoom, and then a
02:5010 megapixel telephoto that does 3x optical zoom, and then a 12 megapixel ultrawide. There's also a
02:56macro mode. You can shoot in 8k 24. And then you have a 40 megapixel selfie cam that also shoots
03:02in 4k 60. To me, you're still getting some top tier highly detailed shots on this phone. Great
03:08zoom quality on here as well too. It even goes up to 100 times zoom. And it's just an awesome
03:14camera. It takes great low light photos as well too, great video. This is still a top tier flagship
03:21camera in my opinion here. So this phone does have pretty decent battery life. I have never
03:26had an issue with battery life. It's a 5000mAh battery, 25 watt charging, 15 watt wireless
03:32charging, and it also can do reverse wireless charging as well too. I can pretty much get like
03:376 hours of screen on time out of mines pretty easily. But this is still a top tier phone and
03:42it's just going to keep coming down in price. So one of my favorite phones on the list and it's
03:46going to get updates for a very long time as well too, which I'm really happy about. Alright, so
03:52next is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. I think this is one of Samsung's all-time great designs here.
03:57Absolutely love this phone. I think this is also going to come down in price. We could possibly
04:01see this come down to, you know, well into the $200 price point once the S23 Ultra comes out. I
04:07give it like maybe, you know, 6 months into this year. But currently it's at $300. But it also
04:13might retain its value because it does, you know, it's one of the flagships that actually have like
04:17SD card support and stuff like that, which a lot of phones don't. But this phone, beautiful design
04:23on here, aluminum frame on here, IP68 dust and water resistant. It's got the built-in stylus,
04:29very boxy Note design as you would expect. You also have a pretty beautiful display even compared
04:34to the newer phones. It's still pretty much a top-tier display. It's just missing high refresh
04:38rate. But you also have dynamic AMOLED, HDR10+, 6.8-inch display, 1440p, 498 for the PPI. Just a
04:48beautiful panel as you would expect here. Very vibrant, good colors, pretty good brightness.
04:54It's an awesome display. Like I said, I put it next to the S22 Ultra. Honestly, a normal person
04:59wouldn't even be able to tell the difference, honestly, besides the 120Hz, you know, not being
05:04here. But absolutely gorgeous display. And this phone did get its last major OS update, so very
05:10important. So it's running Android 12, One UI 4. This phone will get 2 years of security patches,
05:17hopefully 3 years of security patches. So we're gonna hope for that. But definitely it's in the
05:23security patch stages right now. This phone does have the Snapdragon 855 chip on here.
05:28Super, super powerful. I'm gonna do an updated gaming test for this phone. I did a gaming test,
05:33if you wanna check that out. It flies through games pretty much. Call of Duty, PUBG, you can
05:38play at great settings. Even Fortnite did a pretty decent job on this phone. So anything in the
05:43Play Store you throw at it, it's still gonna do a better job than most mid-range and budget phones.
05:49What's really awesome about the Note is that you have microSD card support, 256GB of internal
05:55storage, and this is the base model, and then 12GB of RAM. So you get a ton of storage with this
06:00phone. A lot of phones these days do not have SD card support. And yeah, it's absolutely awesome.
06:05You also have pretty good sounding stereo speakers as well too, which sound fantastic. Great bass,
06:11really good mids and highs. NFC is on here. Believe it or not, all your flagship features
06:14are still on here. The under-the-display fingerprint sensor, face unlock, Samsung
06:19desktop support is still on here. Basically everything you would find in an S22 Ultra is
06:24pretty much on the Note 10 Plus still, so that's really awesome. Now you do have some pretty good
06:28cameras on here, and yes, they're not as fancy as the newer phones. It's got a 12MP standard,
06:3412MP telephoto, that's 2x, and then a 16MP ultra-wide, and then a 0.3 depth sensor. Again,
06:40there's no 100MP camera and crazy zoom. It does shoot in 4K60 on the front and back with a 10MP
06:47selfie. I think this phone takes great shots. If you're outdoors and good lighting, I think it
06:51takes amazing shots. A lot of people won't be able to tell the difference, honestly, between a
06:56newer phone and this phone. I think this phone kind of shows its age with the camera. Only when
07:00you take it out of good lighting, you can get kind of soft images is what I've been noticing
07:06compared to newer phones. The newer phones are better at low-light performance and stuff like
07:09that. But in general, I think the average person, you take a photo, you're going to be pretty
07:15impressed with the Note for sure. This phone, again, very average battery life, around 6 hours
07:20of screen on time, 4300mAh battery, but this thing does charge pretty fast at 45 watts,
07:26and it also has 15-watt wireless charging, and you can have the reverse wireless charging as
07:32well. So like I said, this is a great option for anybody on a budget who also wants to game,
07:36who also wants to experience, you know, pretty much flagship features for cheap. Alright guys,
07:41next is the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Again, this phone is super cheap as well too, and I really
07:47like the design on this phone, stainless steel frame. I think it still has a very nice classy
07:51look. It's IP68 dust and water resistant, has a built-in stylus of course, and it's a pretty
07:57massive phone because it has a 6.9-inch display. So it's pretty big, it's a dynamic AMOLED display,
08:03120Hz HDR10+, beautiful display, but there is a catch with this specific phone is that it can
08:10only do 120Hz at full HD, so it can't do it at 1440p. So that's the only catch with the display.
08:16I use it at 14, I mean, I use it at the full HD and I don't have a problem with it, it still looks
08:22fine. I'd rather have the 120Hz on anyway. But yeah, so this phone got the Android 13 update,
08:29One UI 5. It's been running fine for me. This phone also is in its security patch stages,
08:34will get security updates for the next 2-3 years I believe as well too, so that is really sweet.
08:40This phone is also super powerful, super efficient when it comes to the chipset. It's got the
08:45Snapdragon 865 chip on here. One of my favorite chips because this phone does not really run high,
08:50it does a great job gaming, it doesn't really ever stutter for me as well too. It's a really
08:56awesome chip. And also, this phone does have SD card support as well too, something that you will
09:01not find in a lot of flagships. So you can put a ton of stuff on this phone if you take a lot of
09:06video, download a lot of stuff. The base is 128GB and 12GB of RAM. And then also on this phone,
09:13pretty good stereo speakers on here, no issues with that. NFC is on board. Fingerprint scanner
09:18on the display, still very fast. And then all your bells and whistles are still here with this phone,
09:22Samsung desktop support, reverse wireless charging, all that good stuff. Where this phone kind of
09:28still feels pretty modern is actually with the camera. So it's got a 108MP lens, so it takes
09:34some very detailed shots. 12MP periscope telephoto lens, it does 5x optical zoom, and then it has a
09:4150x hybrid zoom. And then you have a 12MP ultrawide. This shoots in 8K24, and then a 10MP selfie
09:48that shoots in 4K60. I think this takes some phenomenal photos still. And again, for people who
09:53want something that you take a lot of zoom shots and stuff like that, this phone is still great
09:58for that. It still takes very highly detailed shots as well too. And just impressive video at 8K
10:05as well too, which is really nice. So I absolutely love this phone, and it still feels super modern.
10:09And like I said, it's only going to get cheaper from here. So definitely keep your eye on the
10:15Note20 Ultra. Battery life, again, Samsung, you know, with this phone, it's 4500mAh battery,
10:22and it's only 25W charging, which is slower than the Note10+. But battery life is actually fine
10:28on here. I still get around maybe 6 hours, 5 hours and 30 minutes. Really, all the Note phones
10:36and current S-series phones, they kind of feel on par with battery life. They all sort of get
10:41around like that 6 hours. So I would love to see Samsung sort of upgrade the battery, do something
10:46to make these phones last a little bit longer. Alright guys, next is the Galaxy S21 FE. Phenomenal
10:52phone for the price that it is in the, you know, renewed refurbished marketplace. I'm seeing these
10:57for like $288, $300 flat. So I think that's excellent for this device. I think it's a pretty
11:03impressive device for that price point. Now yes, this does have the plastic back, which it's not a
11:08big deal for most people because, you know, it's more durable than glass, right? So if you drop
11:13your phone, you know, it's not going to shatter the back. And you got to keep that in mind for,
11:17you know, when you're ready to sell your phone, you don't want to sell it all cracked up. So
11:21that's why I'm like, I kind of give Samsung a break for the plastic backs, right? It's got
11:26this aluminum frame, so it doesn't feel like cheap in the hand at all. It's got IP68 dust and water
11:31resistant. It is a dynamic AMOLED, 120Hz display, HDR10+, 6.4 inches, 1080p, 403 for the PPI.
11:40So it's a beautiful display, really slim bezels on here, punch hole. I think it looks phenomenal.
11:45It's a really nice looking display when you see it. And also this phone, since it came out in
11:512022, it's also going to have a pretty long update lifespan as well too. It's, you know, running
11:57Android 13. It's got the Snapdragon AAA processor. So this phone is super, super fast. It can
12:04basically do anything, play any game you want it to. So it's a very fast phone. No SD card support,
12:10128 gigs of internal storage, 6 gigs of RAM. You do have the stereo speakers on board. They sound
12:15pretty good. And then you also have no headphone jack, of course, and then NFC is on board. And
12:21then the fingerprint scanner on here is very fast. And what's really awesome about this phone is
12:26actually the cameras are pretty impressive. It's a 12 megapixel standard, 8 megapixel telephoto,
12:32it does 3x, and then a 12 megapixel ultra-wide, shoots in 4k60 on the front and back, and then
12:38has a 32 megapixel selfie cam. This takes some phenomenal shots. I think the shots on here were
12:42beautiful, great dynamic range, great colors. I think for the price that you're getting, you're
12:47getting like pretty much still flagship quality photos. Now it doesn't have all the like fancy
12:52zoom and stuff like that, but I think if you're a point and click person, you'll be impressed with
12:56this. It does great in low light as well too. I think this phone sort of flew under the radar
13:00because a lot of people didn't like that it was plastic and you know whatever else was the other
13:05phones compared to it. So yeah, so I think this phone is at a great price now and I can definitely
13:11pull the trigger on this one. It's got 4,500 milliamp battery. So the battery life is pretty
13:16good. It's 25 watt charging. I was able to get through a full day no problem. So I think now
13:21that this phone has come down in price, I think it's an awesome deal. Honestly, I think it's going
13:25to keep coming down in price. I can easily see this at like $250. Alright, so last is the Galaxy
13:30S10+. And really you can put any Galaxy S10 series phone in this spot, whether it's the S10e,
13:36the standard S10, or the S10 5G. It really comes down to your personal preference, but I think the
13:42S10 plus sort of like, I think it's the best you know out of the bunch because just the size of it
13:50and all that good stuff. So I think it's the best for most people. Absolutely love this phone. You
13:55can pick it up easily like $200, if not cheaper on eBay. Aluminum frame on here, IP68 dust and
14:01water resistant. What's pretty sweet about this phone is that it's the only phone on the list
14:06with micro SD card support and a headphone jack. So you know, of course Samsung took it with a
14:11headphone jack. So it's got both of those, which I think you know it's pretty sweet. I think design
14:15on here still looks pretty good as well. The screen on here is still really nice. It's dynamic
14:20AMOLED. It's HDR10 plus at 6.4 inches. It's full 1440p, 522 for the PPI. Still a beautiful display.
14:29You may or may not like the double punch hole display. You get used to it pretty quickly. But
14:34you know, it's something that I got used to pretty quick. So this phone also got its last major OS
14:40update, Android 12, One UI 4.1. And it is also in its security patch stages. Snapdragon 855
14:48is on board here. It's super, super fast. I'm going to do an updated gaming test, but this
14:53one flies through games as well too. I'm telling you guys, check out those gaming tests. Very
14:57impressive. Like I said, 128 gigs of internal storage, 6 gigs of RAM. And like I said, the
15:04stereo speakers on here are pretty good. You have the headphone jack. I think this phone also has
15:10somewhat decent cameras, 12 megapixel standard, 12 megapixel telephoto, 2X, 16 megapixel ultra-wide,
15:16shoots in 4K 60 on the front and back. What's cool about this phone is that you have a 10 megapixel
15:21wide, and then you have a, also an 8 megapixel depth sensor, which is pretty cool. But basically
15:28it's, you know, basically the same boat as the other older flagships on this list. Does great
15:33in great lighting, get you a really good shot. Take it out of great lighting and it sort of
15:37starts to get a little soft and stuff like that. But in general, you can still get away with a
15:42pretty good shot on the S10 Plus for sure. The fingerprint scanner is very fast. You can use
15:48face unlock. Battery life, again, falls in that same boat. Around 6 hours of screen on time. It's
15:53not a big battery at 4,100 milliamps. 15 watt charging, wireless charging, reverse wireless
15:58charging, all the bells and whistles, Samsung desktop support, all that good stuff is still
16:03here. So this is a phenomenal phone guys. So that's pretty much it guys. That's all you need
16:08to know. And I'll catch you guys in the next one.
