00:00So, I got a special request to do the ASUS Zenfone 9 versus the Galaxy Note 10 Plus full
00:10speed test and I'll show you guys some side-by-side stills, but we're just going to be focusing
00:13on speed and RAM management here.
00:17You can see the Zenfone has the newest Snapdragon 8G1 Plus chip and this has the Snapdragon
00:22855.
00:23Now, what a lot of people are always shocked about is that it keeps up with speed even
00:28with the newest chipsets, even though you'll see a higher Geekbench score on the Zenfone.
00:35In terms of smoothness and performance, I tell people this all the time, your older
00:39flagship phone is meant to last, guys, so phones like the Snapdragon 855 chip that came
00:43out years ago can still compete, even though it crushes it in the benchmark scores, it
00:49still competes in a lot of your daily activities and also, surprisingly, gaming performance
00:55as well, too.
00:56Now, since these phones are running Android 12, let's go ahead and just hop in here.
01:00Let's make sure we got nothing open and we'll go hit Subway Surf here and you guys will
01:05see this difference here.
01:07It's not a super massive one.
01:09You can see, boom, we're in and then, boom, we're in on the Note.
01:12So, we saw a little bit of a difference there, maybe, I'll say, maybe a second difference,
01:18maybe a second and a half.
01:21YouTube looked like the Note actually got in there first, so you guys can see, people
01:27are always, because the way they market this stuff with the new chips and Apple does a
01:31really good job of it, too, they make it seem like the chips are so much faster and your
01:36experience is going to be so much faster.
01:39In reality, you can see this older chipset is just so much on par with even the newest
01:46chipset.
01:47Now, one thing you'll notice is that if your older flagship doesn't support 120Hz like
01:51the Note, 60Hz feels smooth, but nowhere near as smooth as 120Hz, but it's still pretty
02:00smooth.
02:03You can see the Snapdragon 855 just able to keep up.
02:06Now, I will notice, when you're launching games, that's really when you see that second
02:10or two difference there, but casual applications, you can see it just goes right in there.
02:17Again, we can see with this game, Temple Run, it's really not too far behind.
02:25People that are thinking about upgrading just for speed because I want a new chip, you might
02:32want to reconsider because it's not going to be that big of a difference, guys.
02:36I'll show you, even with gaming performance, if you're just a casual gamer, I'm not talking
02:40about a hardcore gamer, if you're a hardcore gamer, you will notice that you'll get less
02:44FPS drops on a newer chip, but if you're a casual gamer, like playing PUBG, Call of
02:50Duty Mobile, I still wouldn't recommend upgrading for that because these older chips, they're
02:58just so good.
02:59Now, you guys see why I sort of focus on older flagships on this channel a lot because I
03:07think they're just a great value.
03:11You see, more casual applications, these are just instant.
03:16They're pretty much on par.
03:17Let's do PUBG.
03:18It's a little heavier.
03:20For games like PUBG, now, with these newer chipsets and the better high refresh rates,
03:27some games, like we saw on Subway Surfer, I believe Subway Surfer supports the higher
03:30frame rate, but some games like PUBG, this can support the 90 frames even though this
03:37is not compatible with it.
03:41It can support that 90 frames, but it doesn't.
03:48These both actually play at the same graphic settings, surprisingly.
03:54I'll show you guys.
03:56You can play HDR Extreme on here.
04:01Then with the Note, you can also ... I hate how many pop-ups are in PUBG.
04:11You can also play at these same exact settings.
04:14The only difference, you would see that 90 frames, but this phone doesn't have the ... It's
04:18not capable of doing it.
04:20Let's go ahead and get into PUBG Match.
04:24Yeah, guys, so if you're thinking about updating for speed and gaming performance, I would
04:37say it is totally dependent on how much of a gamer you are because the A55 chip still
04:43does an amazing job.
04:44You can see super smooth on here, but also still super smooth on the Galaxy Note as well,
04:52too.
04:53I don't know what it's on, HDR Extreme.
04:58Also just very buttery smooth on here, too.
05:01You see, sometimes on the Note, you can get a little drop, and I've noticed those drops
05:09so much less.
05:10Yeah, you can even get drops on the newer phones with the newer chipsets, but I feel
05:15like you'll notice them less.
05:20You get that occasional little stutter.
05:22Even though this is playing extremely well.
05:28So also, let's see the difference between a phone with 8 gigs of RAM versus 12 gigs
05:33of RAM.
05:34See what kind of RAM management we got going on here.
05:38Still open on both.
05:43YouTube's still open.
05:45Oh, we got a refresh on the Zenfone.
05:50This does have, like I said, the Note has 12 gigs of RAM, though.
05:54So it shouldn't.
05:55Yeah, we got a refresh again.
05:57So I really love, and sometimes I think Samsung software just does a really good job with
06:07RAM management itself, because even other phones with 12 gigs of RAM, however Samsung
06:13tweaks it, I think they just do a great job because my Pixel doesn't even keep applications
06:18that's open, and that has 12 gigs of RAM.
06:21Yeah, so this just, it seemed like I just opened, once you open PUBG, it's a wrap for
06:278 gigs of RAM.
06:29If I didn't open PUBG, all these applications would be open still.
06:32Okay, we got a refresh now on the Note.
06:35Yeah, I think that was one refresh on the Note.
06:40So pretty crazy.
06:41So I'm gonna go ahead and show you guys the side-by-side cameras as well, too, and you
06:47guys can check that out.
06:49Now, the specs on the cameras, the Zenfone does have a dual camera setup.
06:53It's a 50-megapixel standard, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, it shoots in 8K 24, and then you
06:59also have a 12-megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 30, and then on the Note, you actually
07:05have a technically a quad camera setup.
07:08It's a 12-megapixel standard, 12-megapixel telephoto, 2x optical, which the Zenfone lacks
07:14any telephoto, and then you have a 16-megapixel ultra-wide, 4K 60, and then you also have
07:20a 10-megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
